Summary Characterization of French oak samples used in the ageing of wines and spirits can be achieved by determination of the composition of their volatile fraction. Soxhlet extraction and simultaneous extraction-distillation have been used to obtain different voltatile fractions. analysis of these fractions by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry enables tentative identification of up to ninety six components including phenols, furans, terpenes, acids, esters, and lactones. The results obtained depend on the method and solvent used.  相似文献

Vegetables and fruits are necessary for human health, and traditional Chinese medicine that uses plant materials can cure diseases. Thus, understanding the composition of plant matrix has gained increased attention in recent years. Since plant matrix is very complex, the extraction, separation and quantitation of these chemicals are challenging.  相似文献

The instrumental performances of a Thermo Desorption-Cooled Injection System coupled with a gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GC-MS) were improved by a Plackett-Burman experimental design for the direct thermal extraction of volatile compounds from extra-virgin olive oils. The obtained experimental conditions were applied to the analysis of samples from West Liguria (cv. Taggiasca > or = 90%) and Spain (cv. Arbequina), which shared such similar sensorial features that Taste Panel did not distinguish them. Principal component analysis (PCA) was then applied to the experimental data. Three linear combinations of the amounts of the lipoxygenase oxidation products proved to be decisive and sufficient in the differentiation of the two groups of samples.  相似文献

The validation of a method based on the purge and trap technique combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry-flame ionization detection has been carried out in order to apply it to the analysis of ciders. Although 49 compounds were identified, our work was focused on the study of nine minor esters, obtaining recoveries ranging between 93% for ethyl decanoate and 117% for ethyl 3-methylbutyrate, and a precision (RSDs) ranging between 2.2% for hexyl acetate and ethyl decanoate and 10.9% for isopentyl acetate. To demonstrate the feasibility of the procedure, the method was applied to the analysis of commercial ciders.  相似文献

A new technique for the analysis of volatile aromatic hydrocarbons by combining liquid-liquid microextraction with solid phase microextraction has been developed. The analytes were extracted from aqueous samples by an immobilized polydimethylsiloxane fiber assisted by the droplets of an appropriate organic solvent. Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and o-xylene were used as target analytes. The main factors potentially affecting the microextraction such as the nature and the volume of organic solvent, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) swelling, extraction time, agitation, temperature, and salts were optimized. The method requires a very low consumption of organic solvent. The relative enrichment factor is in the range of 7.1-32.4 for extraction in the presence of dichloromethane at an optimum volume of 18 μL mL(-1) of aqueous sample. This enhancement over regular polydimethylsiloxane fiber is primarily the result of the fiber swelling and of a stable thin layer of organic solvent attached to the surface of the PDMS fiber. The limit of detection ranges from 0.02 to 0.65 ng mL(-1) for the target compounds using a 7-μm bonded polydimethylsiloxane coating and a flame ionization detector. The validity of this method is demonstrated by the analysis of a real waste water sample.  相似文献

A new method of the determination polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in water samples was developed by continuous-flow microextraction (CFME) coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). In this experiment, 15 mL sample solution with no salt-added was flowed at the rate of 1.0 mL min−1 through 3 μL benzene as extraction solvent. Under the optimal extraction conditions, the developed method was found to yield a linear calibration curve in the concentration range from 0.05 to 15 ng mL−1. Furthermore, the accuracy and repeatability of the method were good by calculating from water samples spiked at known concentrations of PAHs, and the recovery of optimal method was satisfactory. The results showed that CFME was an efficient preconcentration method for extraction of PAHs from spiked water samples.  相似文献

An analytical system composed of a purge-and-trap injection system coupled to gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection (PTI-GC-MS) specific for the analysis of volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons (VCHCs) (chloroform; 1,1,1-trichloroethane; tetrachloromethane; 1,1,2-trichloroethylene; tetrachloroethylene) and trihalomethanes (THMs) (chloroform; bromodichloromethane; dibromochloromethane; bromoform) in water was optimised. Samples were purged and trapped in a cold trap (-100 degrees C) fed with liquid nitrogen (cryo-concentration). In order to make this method suitable also for only slightly contaminated waters, some modifications were made to PTI sample introduction, in order to avoid any air intake into the system. PTI, GC and MS conditions were optimised for halogenated compound analysis and limits of detection (LOD) were evaluated. The proposed method allows analysis of samples whose concentrations range from microg/L to ng/L. It is, therefore, applicable to drinking waters, in analyses required by law, and to slightly contaminated aqueous matrices, such as those found in remote areas, in environmental monitoring. Moreover, by changing cold trap temperature, even sparkling mineral waters can be analysed, thus avoiding CO2 interference during the cryo-concentration phase. Our method has been successfully used on real samples: tap water, mineral water and Antarctic snow.  相似文献

As one category of the most urgent emerging pollutants, pharmaceuticals have provoked much public and scientific attention due to widespread contamination in aquatic environment. In this study, two active methods by Oasis HLB and MCX and two passive methods by XAD-16 and XAD-16/7 were evaluated for determining the concentrations of 10 pharmaceuticals (carbamazepine, clofibric acid, diclofenac, gemfibrozil, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, naproxen, paracetomol, terbutaline and triclosan) in reclaimed wastewater. Recoveries of the target pharmaceuticals extracted by MCX were higher than HLB except for diclofenac and ketoprofen. For the passive methods, the addition of polar resin XAD-7 improved the recovery compared with the addition of XAD-16 only. The mean recoveries of the target analytes by XAD-16/7 ranged from 22 to 75.8%. The limit of quantification (LOQ) ranged between 25 and 280 ng/L. In addition, by comparing the accuracy and precision of XAD-16/7 method and MCX method, we further demonstrated that the XAD-16/7 method can be satisfactorily used for the analysis of pharmaceuticals in wastewater samples. We applied the method to some wastewater samples from sewage treatment plant (STP) nearby Riverside, CA to track the concentration change of pharmaceuticals in the treatment processes. The result shown that pharmaceuticals were effective reduced in STP mostly by activated sludge.  相似文献

In general, volatile organic compounds in ambient air are quantified by following a well‐defined standard calibration procedure using a gas‐/liquid‐phase standard. If the liquid standard is analyzed by a thermal desorption, the solvent effect is unavoidable through the alteration of breakthrough properties or retention times. To learn more about the variables of the thermal desorption‐based analysis, the effect of pre‐purge conditions was evaluated for 18 volatile organic compounds with different types of sorbent tube materials by fixing standard volume (1 μL) and flow rate (100 mL/min). The gas phase calibration was also carried out as reference for the non‐solvent effect. A single tube filled with Tenax TA exhibited the least solvent effect with the short pre‐purge (1 min), while being subject to the breakthrough at or above 10 min pre‐purge. For a three‐bed sorbent tube with Carboxen 1000, at least 10 min of pre‐purge was needed for the compounds with a retention time close to methanol (e.g., propanal). Another three‐bed tube with Carbopack X reduced the solvent effect efficiently for a short pre‐purge (2 min) without the breakthrough. As such, the solvent effect can be adjusted by the proper control of the sorbent tube application.  相似文献

Ultrasonic nebulization extraction (UNE) coupled with headspace single-drop microextraction (HS-SDME) was developed. In the UNE process, the analytes were transferred from the aqueous phase to the gas phase. Then the analytes were transferred from the gas phase to the solvent phase by the carrier gas and extracted and enriched with suspended microdrop solvent. Finally, the microdrop solvent injected into GC-MS system. The parameters affecting extraction performance, such as type of suspended solvent, microdrop volume, flow rate of carrier gas, temperature of extraction vessel and extraction time were investigated and optimized. The proposed method can be applied for the extraction and enrichment of the volatile and semivolatile compounds simultaneously. The extraction efficiency of the proposed method was compared with that of ultrasonic extraction (UE) and UE-HS-SDME. Compared with UE-HS-SDME, the contents of constituents in the extract obtained by the proposed method were closer to those obtained by hydrodistillation (HD), which is a standard extraction method.  相似文献

The well known reaction between 2,2-dimethoxypropane and water allows for the conversion of an aqueous into an organic solution ready to be injected directly into a gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric (GC-MS) system. Only time, temperature and water/ketal ratio were the parameters studied among those which influence the equilibrium reaction. The reaction environment is not suitable for all compounds: acids, esters, alcohols, amines, ketones and phenols may react with methanol, acetone and ketal owing to Amberlyst being present as catalyst. This method is proposed for the GC-MS analysis of aqueous solutions containing hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons and ethers. The determination of some pesticides in water is reported.  相似文献

A two‐phase electromembrane extraction (EME) was developed and directly coupled with gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC‐MS) analysis. The proposed method was successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of imipramine, desipramine, citalopram and sertraline. The model compounds were extracted from neutral aqueous sample solutions into the organic phase filled in the lumen of the hollow fiber. This method was accomplished with 1‐heptanol as organic phase, by means of 60 V applied voltage and with the extraction time of 15 min. Experiments reported recoveries in the range of 69–87% from 1.2 mL neutral sample solution. The compounds were quantified by GC‐MS instrument, with acceptable linearity ranging from 1 to 500 ng mL?1 (R2 in the range of 0.989 to 0.998), and repeatability (RSD) ranging between 7.5 and 11.5% (n = 5). The estimated detection limits (S/N ratio of 3:1) were less than 0.25 ng mL?1. This novel approach based on two‐phase EME brought advantages such as simplicity, low‐costing, low detection limit and fast extraction with a total analysis time less than 25 min. These experimental findings were highly interesting and demonstrated the possibility of solving ionic species in the organic phase at the presence of electrical potential.  相似文献

A mesoporous carbon was fabricated using MCM‐41 as a template and sucrose as a carbon source. The carbon material was coated on stainless‐steel wires by using the sol–gel technique. The prepared solid‐phase microextraction fiber was used for the extraction of five volatile aromatic compounds (chlorobenzene, ethylbenzene, o‐xylene, bromobenzene, and 4‐chlorotoluene) from tea beverage samples (red tea and green tea) prior to gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection. The main experimental parameters affecting the extraction of the volatile aromatic compounds by the fiber, including the extraction time, sample volume, extraction temperature, salt addition, and desorption conditions, were investigated. The linearity was observed in the range from 0.1 to 10.0 μg/L with the correlation coefficients (r) ranging from 0.9923 to 0.9982 and the limits of detection were less than 10.0 ng/L. The recoveries of the volatile aromatic compounds by the method from tea beverage samples at spiking levels of 1.0 and 10.0 μg/L ranged from 73.1 to 99.1%.  相似文献

Headspace solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME) in-situ supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) was investigated for the determination of trace amounts of perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs) in sediments. Quantitation was performed by using gas chromatography coupled to negative chemical ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-NCI-MS/MS). The optimum conditions of HS-SPME following SFE were obtained using 500 μL n-butanol as a derivatization reagent in supercritical carbon dioxide with static extraction for 10 min, then dynamic extraction for 20 min at 30 MPa and 70 °C and simultaneous collected with 100 μm film thickness PDMS fiber. The linear range of proposed method was from 5 to 5000 ng g(-1), with limit of detection ranging from 0.39 to 0.54 ng g(-1) and limit of quantitation ranging from 1.30 to 1.80 ng g(-1). The developed method was successfully applied to analyze PFCAs in sediments from rivers and beach near industrial areas. The concentrations of PFCAs determined are from 282 to 4473 ng g(-1).  相似文献

A rapid method, based on sonication-assisted extraction in small columns (SAESC) and subsequent quantification and identification by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), was developed for the determination of cyclic and linear siloxanes in soil. In the experiments with spiked samples (10-50 ng g(-1)), the recovery of cyclic and linear siloxanes ranged from 87.7 to 108.0% and from 84.9 to 107.6%, respectively. The validated method was used to determine the levels of these compounds in various types of soil samples collected from different locations in Spain. The cyclic siloxanes, decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5) and dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane (D6) were detected in all the soil samples analyzed at concentrations from 9.2 to 56.9 ng g(-1) for D5 and from 5.8 to 27.1 ng g(-1) for D6 in agricultural soils and from 22 to 184 ng g(-1) for D5 and from 28 to 483 ng g(-1) for D6 in industrial soils. The total linear siloxanes concentrations (L5-L14) (sum of the 10 congeners) ranged from 191 to 292 ng g(-1) in agricultural soils and from 1411 to 8532 ng g(-1) in industrial soils.  相似文献

Due to lipid oxidation, off‐flavors, characterized by a fishy odor, are emitted during the heating of rapeseed oil in a fryer and affect the flavor of rapeseed oil even at low concentrations. Thus, there is a need for analytical methods to identify and quantify these products. To study the headspace composition of degraded rapeseed oil, and more specifically the compounds responsible for the fishy odor, a headspace trap gas chromatography with mass spectrometry method was developed and validated. Six volatile compounds formed during the degradation of rapeseed oil were quantified: 1‐penten‐3‐one, (Z)‐4‐heptenal, hexanal, nonanal, (E,E)‐heptadienal, and (E)‐2‐heptenal. Validation using accuracy profiles allowed us to determine the valid ranges of concentrations for each compound, with acceptance limits of 40% and tolerance limits of 80%. This method was then successfully applied to real samples of degraded oils.  相似文献

Summary Solid-phase microextraction is a relatively recent extraction technique for sample preparation. It has been used successfully to analyse environmental pollutants in a variety of matrices such as soils, water and air. In this work, a simple and rapid method for the analysis of volatile organic and polar compounds from polluted groundwater samples by SPME coupled with gas chromatography (GC) is described. Different types of fibres were studied and the extraction process was optimised. The fibre that proved to be the best to analyse this kind of samples was CAR-PDMS. The method was validated by analysis of synthetic samples and comparison with headspace—GC. The optimised method was successfully applied to the analysis of ground-water samples.  相似文献

Summary The simultaneous determination of chlorofluorocarbons and their replacement compounds in ambient air samples requires the preconcentration of appropriate air volumes on suitable adsorbents. The performance of a dual-layer adsorption tube to be used in this type of analysis was evaluated in terms of breakthrough volumes (BTV) for the compounds of interest at ambient temperature. To verify the effectiveness of such adsorption tubes, real air samples were enriched at ambient temperature and were subsequently analyzed by capillary gas chromatography coupled with quadrupole mass spectrometry, operating in SIM mode. The results obtained confirmed the efficacy of the proposed method, in terms both of sensitivity and chromatographic separation efficiency.  相似文献
