We consider a certain class of Herglotz-Nevanlinna matrix-valued functions which can be realized as the Weyl-Titchmarsh matrix-valued function of some symmetric operator and its self-adjoint extension. New properties of Weyl-Titchmarsh matrix-valued functions as well as a new version of the functional model for such realizations are presented. In the case of periodic Herglotz-Nevanlinna matrix-valued functions, we provide a complete characterization of their realizations in terms of the corresponding functional model. We also obtain properties of a symmetric operator and its self-adjoint extension which generate a periodic Weyl-Titchmarsh matrix-valued function. We study pairs of operators (a symmetric operator and its self-adjoint extension) with constant Weyl-Titchmarsh matrix-valued functions and establish connections between such pairs of operators and representations of the canonical commutation relations for unitary groups of operators in Weyl's form. As a consequence of such an approach, we obtain the Stone-von Neumann theorem for two unitary groups of operators satisfying the commutation relations as well as some extension and refinement of the classical functional model for generators of those groups. Our examples include multiplication operators in weighted spaces, first and second order differential operators, as well as the Schrödinger operator with linear potential and its perturbation by bounded periodic potential.  相似文献

We provide a detailed treatment of Weyl–Titchmarsh theory for half-lattice and full-lattice CMV operators and discuss their systems of orthonormal Laurent polynomials on the unit circle, spectral functions, variants of Weyl–Titchmarsh functions, and Green's functions. We construct higher order spectral shift functions, extending the perturbation theory results of M.G. Krein [M.G. Krein, On a trace formula in perturbation theory, Mat. Sb. 33 (1953) 597-626 (in Russian)] and L.S. Koplienko [L.S. Koplienko, Trace formula for perturbations of nonnuclear type, Sibirsk. Mat. Zh. 25 (1984) 62-71 (in Russian); translation in: Trace formula for nontrace-class perturbations, Siberian Math. J. 25 (1984) 735-743] on representations for the remainders of the first and second order Taylor-type approximations of operator functions. The higher order spectral shift functions represent the remainders of higher order Taylor-type approximations; they can be expressed recursively via the lower order (in particular, Krein's and Koplienko's) ones. We also obtain higher order spectral averaging formulas generalizing the Birman-Solomyak spectral averaging formula. The results are obtained in the semi-finite von Neumann algebra setting, with the perturbation taken in the Hilbert-Schmidt class of the algebra.  相似文献

The spectral theorem for matrices is generalized to matrix polynomials over arbitrary fields. An associated theory of generalized interpolation with respect to a set of prime polynomials is developed, and Drazin inverses are used to identify the spectral components. We show that formulas differing from classical analogues of rational trace formulas for algebraic-geometric potentials occur in the theory of finite-gap integration of spectral equations. The spectral theory for unbounded normal operators is used to develop a systematic method of approximating functions of operators with other, more easily computable functions, leading to a priori error estimates in the operator norm. Subdivision algorithm (Stationary or Non-stationary) is one of the most active and exciting research topics in wavelet analysis and applied mathematical theory. In multidimensional non-stationary situation, its limit functions are both compactly supported and infinitely differentiable. Also, these limit functions can serve as the scaling functions to generate the multidimensional non-stationary orthogonal or biorthogonal semi-multiresolution analysis (Semi-MRAs). The spectral approximation property of multidimensional non-stationary biorthogonal Semi-MRAs is considered in this paper. Based on nonstationary subdivision scheme and its limit scaling functions, it is shown that the multidimensional nonstationary biorthogonal Semi-MRAs have spectral approximation order r in Sobolev space H^s(R^d), for all r ≥ s ≥ 0.  相似文献

Polynomial functions on Abelian groups play a basic role in the theory of functional equations and spectral analysis. In this paper we investigate the ring-structure of polynomial functions on topological Abelian groups. We show that polynomial functions form a Noetherian ring if and only if the linear space of continuous homomorphisms of the group into the additive group of complex numbers is finite dimensional. In the case of discrete Abelian groups this is equivalent to the presence of spectral synthesis.  相似文献

A solution of the diffraction problem for a submerged sphere in finite water depth based on the linearized potential theory is presented. The sphere can take different positions relative to the bottom. A new method is suggested to solve this problem. This method is a generalization of the integral transforms. Two systems of the curvilinear coordinates are used, two spectral systems are constructed and two spectral functions are introduced to obtain the solution. For the first spectral function an integral representation is obtained, for the second spectral function an integro-operator equation is derived. We study representations of the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra and a variety of Lie algebras, e.g., su(2), related through various aspects of the spectral theory of self-adjoint operators, the theory of orthogonal polynomials, and basic quantum theory. The approach taken here enables extensions from the one-variable case to be made in a natural manner. Extensions to certain infinite-dimensional Lie algebras (continuous tensor products, q-analogs) can be found as well. Particularly, we discuss the relationship between generating functions and representations of Lie algebras, spectral theory for operators that lead to systems of orthogonal polynomials and, importantly, the precise connection between the representation theory of Lie algebras and classical probability distributions is presented via the notions of quantum probability theory. Coincidentally, our theory is closed connected to the study of exponential families with quadratic variance in statistical theory.  相似文献

In this paper we study the almost everywhere convergence of the spectral expansions related to the Laplace–Beltrami operator on the unit sphere. Using the spectral properties of the functions with logarithmic singularities, the estimate for maximal operator of the Riesz means of the partial sums of the Fourier–Laplace series is established. We have constructed a different method for investigating the summability problems of Fourier–Laplace series, which based on the theory of spectral decompositions of the self-adjoint Laplace–Beltrami operator.  相似文献

Nonlinear equations arising in the spectral theory of self-adjoint operator functions and related completeness problems for eigenvectors are studied. A separation theorem about the values of the Rayleigh functional on solutions of a nonlinear equation is proved.
