In this paper, we obtain the existence and uniqueness results for general second-order three-point boundary value problems by applying the method of upper and lower solutions together with Leray–Schauder degree, as well as obtaining monotone iteration schemes which converge quadratically to the unique solution of some specific second-order three-point boundary value problem by using the method of quasilinearization.  相似文献

In this paper a novel approach is presented for solving parameterized singularly perturbed two-point boundary value problems with a boundary layer. By the boundary layer correction technique, the original problem is converted into two non-singularly perturbed problems which can be solved using traditional numerical methods, such as Runge–Kutta methods. Several non-linear problems are solved to demonstrate the applicability of the method. Numerical experiments indicate the high accuracy and the efficiency of the new method.  相似文献

A new kind of numerical method based on rational spectral collocation with the sinh transformation is presented for solving parameterized singularly perturbed two-point boundary value problems with one boundary layer. By means of the sinh transformation, the original Chebyshev points are mapped onto the transformed ones clustered near the singular points of the problem. The results from asymptotic analysis as regards the singularity of the solution are employed to determine the parameters in the transformation. Numerical experiments including several nonlinear cases illustrate the high accuracy and efficiency of our method.  相似文献

We consider a system formulation for Sturm–Liouville operators with formally self-adjoint boundary conditions on a graph. An M-matrix associated with the boundary value problem is defined and related to the matrix Prüfer angle associated with the system boundary value problem, and consequently with the boundary value problem on the graph. Asymptotics for the M-matrix are obtained as the eigenparameter tends to negative infinity. We show that the boundary conditions may be recovered, up to a unitary equivalence, from the M-matrix and that the M-matrix is a Herglotz function. This is the first in a series of papers devoted to the reconstruction of the Sturm–Liouville problem on a graph from its M-matrix.  相似文献

This paper describes the method of quasilinearization for first-order nonlinear impulsive functional differential equations with anti-periodic boundary conditions. In this paper we provide sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions to multipoint boundary value problems for nonlinear ordinary differential equations. We consider the case where the solution space of the associated linear homogeneous boundary value problem is less than 2. When this solution space is trivial, we establish existence results via the Schauder Fixed Point Theorem. In the resonance case, we use a projection scheme to provide criteria for the solvability of our nonlinear boundary value problem. We accomplish this by analyzing a link between the behavior of the nonlinearity and the solution set of the associated linear homogeneous boundary value problem.  相似文献

A two-point boundary value problem associated to a semilinear multivalued evolution equation is investigated, in reflexive and separable Banach spaces. To this aim, an original method is proposed based on the use of weak topologies and on a suitable continuation principle in Fréchet spaces. Lyapunov-like functions are introduced, for proving the required transversality condition. The linear part can also depend on the state variable x and the discussion comprises the cases of a nonlinearity with sublinear growth in x or of a noncompact valued one. Some applications are given, to the study of periodic and Floquet boundary value problems of partial integro-differential equations and inclusions appearing in dispersal population models. Motivated by the interesting paper [I. Karaca, Discrete third-order three-point boundary value problem, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 205 (2007) 458–468], this paper is concerned with a class of boundary value problems for second-order functional difference equations. Sufficient conditions for the existence of at least one solution of a Sturm–Liouville boundary value problem for second-order nonlinear functional difference equations are established. In this paper, based on homotopy perturbation method (HPM) and reproducing kernel method (RKM), a new method is presented for solving nonlinear systems of second order boundary value problems (BVPs). HPM is based on the use of traditional perturbation method and homotopy technique. The HPM can reduce a nonlinear problem to a sequence of linear problems and generate a rapid convergent series solution in most cases. RKM is also an analytical technique, which can solve powerfully linear BVPs. Homotopy perturbation-reproducing kernel method (HP-RKM) combines advantages of these two methods and therefore can be used to solve efficiently systems of nonlinear BVPs. Three numerical examples are presented to illustrate the strength of the method.  相似文献

In this paper, two existence results for a class of second order periodic boundary value problems with non-smooth potential are obtained. We extend the Castro-Lazer-Thews reduction method to non-smooth functionals, the obtained result is then exploited to prove the existence of a nontrivial solution. We study the existence, non-existence, and multiplicity of positive solutions for a class of systems of second-order ordinary differential equations using the fixed-point theorem of cone expansion/compression type, the upper-lower solutions method, and degree arguments. We apply our abstract results to study semilinear elliptic systems in bounded annular domains with non-homogeneous boundary conditions.
