Periodic boundary value problems for second order impulsive integro-differential equations of volterra type

The existence of solutions of periodic boundary value problems for second order impulsive integro-differential equations of Volterra type is investigated. By using the method of upper and lower solutions, it is proved that the problem in whi h impulses occur at fixed times has a solution. Some impulsive integro-differential inequalities related to such problem are also established.     

Two-point and three-point boundary value problems for n th-order nonlinear differential equations

In this article, we are concerned with existence and uniqueness of solutions of four kinds of two-point boundary value problems for nth-order nonlinear differential equations by “Shooting” method, and studied existence and uniqueness of solutions of a kind of three-point boundary value problems for nth-order nonlinear differential equations by “Matching” method.     

Discontinuous first-order functional boundary value problems

In this paper we prove a new existence result for functional boundary value problems with first-order functional differential equations under weak conditions on the nonlinear part and monotonicity (but not continuity) with respect to the functional variable. Discontinuities with respect to the unknown are allowed to occur over general classes of time-dependent sets which are assumed to satisfy a kind of unviability or solubility condition.     

Existence of solutions for nonlinear singular boundary value problems

Existence of solutions to the two-point boundary value problem (p(t)y')' = q(t)f(t, y,p(t)y'), y(l) = 0, lim_t→0+ p(t)y'(t) = 0 is established under a variety of conditions. Here p(0) = 0 is allowed, and q is not assumed to be continuous at 0, so the problem may be doubly singular. In addition, the Dirichlet problem for this differential equation is investigated

Multipoint boundary value problems of Neumann type for functional differential equations

We obtain the expression of the explicit solution to a class of multipoint boundary value problems of Neumann type for linear ordinary differential equations and apply these results to study sufficient conditions for the existence of solution to linear functional differential equations with multipoint boundary conditions, considering the particular cases of equations with delay and integro-differential equations.     

Matrix representations of fourth-order boundary value problems with coupled or mixed boundary conditions

An equivalence between a class of regular self-adjoint fourth-order boundary value problems with coupled or mixed boundary conditions and a certain class of matrix problems is investigated. Such an equivalence was previously known only in the second-order case and fourth-order case with separated boundary conditions.

Solution of a class of singular boundary value problems

In this work a class of singular ordinary differential equations is considered. These problems arise from many engineering and physics applications such as electro-hydrodynamics and some thermal explosions. Adomian decomposition method is applied to solve these singular boundary value problems. The approximate solution is calculated in the form of series with easily computable components. The method is tested for its efficiency by considering four examples and results are compared with previous known results. Techniques that can be applied to obtain higher accuracy of the present method has also been discussed.     

Initial boundary value problems for quasilinear symmetric hyperbolic systems with characteristic boundary

This paper is devoted to initial boundary value problems for quasi-linear symmetric hyperbolic systems in a domain with characteristic boundary. It extends the theory on linear symmetric hyperbolic systems established by Friedrichs to the nonlinear case. The concept on regular characteristics and dissipative boundary conditions are given for quasilinear hyperbolic systems. Under some assumptions, an existence theorem for such initial boundary value problems is obtained. Discontinuous Galerkin methods for periodic boundary value problems

This article considers the extension of well‐known discontinuous Galerkin (DG) finite element formulations to elliptic problems with periodic boundary conditions. Such problems routinely appear in a number of applications, particularly in homogenization of composite materials. We propose an approach in which the periodicity constraint is incorporated weakly in the variational formulation of the problem. Both H¹ and L² error estimates are presented. The difference between a class of discrete fractional and integer order boundary value problems

In this paper, we point out the differences between a class of fractional difference equations and the integer-order ones. We show that under the same boundary conditions, the problem of the fractional order is nonresonant, while the integer-order one is resonant. Then we analyse the discrete fractional boundary value problem in detail. Then the uniqueness and multiplicity of the solutions for the discrete fractional boundary value problem are obtained by two new tools established in 2012, respectively.
