This paper concerns the slow viscous flow through an aggregate of concentric clusters of porous cylindrical particles with Happel boundary condition. An aggregate of clusters of porous cylindrical particles is considered as a hydro-dynamically equivalent to solid cylindrical core with concentric porous cylindrical shell. The Brinkman equation inside the porous cylindrical shell and the Stokes equation outside the porous cylindrical shell in their stream function formulations are used. The drag force acting on each porous cylindrical particle in a cell is evaluated. In certain limiting cases, drag force converges to pre-existing analytical results, such as, the drag on a porous circular cylinder and the drag on a solid cylinder in a Happel unit cell. Representative results are then discussed and presented in graphical forms. The hydrodynamic permeability of the membrane built up from porous particles is evaluated. The variation of hydrodynamic permeability with different parameters is graphically presented. Some new results are reported for flow pattern in the porous region. Being in resemblance with the model of colloid particles with a coating of porous layers due to adsorption phenomenon, results obtained through this model can be useful to study the membrane filtration process.  相似文献

In the present work, the magnetohydrodynamic flow of a micropolar fluid through the membrane composed of impermeable cylindrical particles coated by porous layer is considered. The flow of a fluid is taken parallel to an axis of cylinder and a uniform magnetic field is applied in transverse direction of the flow. The problem is solved by using the cell model technique for the flow through assemblage of cylindrical particles. The solution of the problem has been obtained by using no-slip condition, continuity of velocity and stresses at interfaces along with Happle's no-couple stress condition as the boundary conditions. The expressions for the linear velocity, micro-rotational velocity, flow rate and hydrodynamic permeability of the membrane are achieved in this work. The obtained solution for velocities is used to plot the graph against various transport parameters such as, Hartmann number, coupling parameter, porosity, scaling parameter etc. The effect of these transport parameters on the flow velocity, micro-rotational velocity, and the hydrodynamic permeability of the membrane have been presented and discussed in this work.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to use the method of matched asymptotic expansions (MMAE) in order to study the two-dimensional steady low Reynolds number flow of a viscous incompressible fluid past a porous circular cylinder. We assume that the flow inside the porous body is described by the continuity and Brinkman equations, and the velocity and boundary traction fields are continuous across the interface between the fluid and porous media. Formal expansions for the corresponding stream functions are used. We show that the force exerted by the exterior flow on the porous cylinder admits an asymptotic expansion with respect to low Reynolds numbers, whose terms depend on the characteristics of the porous cylinder. In addition, by considering Darcy's law for the flow inside the porous circular cylinder, an asymptotic formula for the force on the cylinder is obtained. Also, a porous circular cylinder with a rigid core inside is considered with Brinkman equation inside the porous region. Stress jump condition is used at the porous–liquid interface together with the continuity of velocity components and continuity of normal stress. Some particular cases, which refer to the low Reynolds number flow past a solid circular cylinder, have also been investigated.  相似文献

A nonlinear model for a steady flow in a deformable porous medium is considered. The flow is governed by the poroelasticity system consisting of an elasticity equation for the displacement of the porous medium and Darcy's equation for the pressure in the fluid. This poroelasticity system is nonlinear when the permeability in Darcy's equation is assumed to depend on the dilatation of the porous medium. Existence and uniqueness of a weak solution of this poroelasticity system is established under rather weak assumptions on the regularity of the data. Convergence of a finite element approximation is proved and verified through numerical experiments. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper we obtain an indirect boundary integral method in order to prove existence and uniqueness of the classical solution to a boundary value problem for the Stokes–Brinkman-coupled system, which describes an unbounded Stokes flow past a porous body in terms of Brinkman's model. Therefore, one assumes that the flow inside the body is governed by the continuity and Brinkman equations. Some asymptotic results in both cases of large and, respectively, of low permeability are also obtained. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The effect of heat and mass transfer on free convective flow of a visco-elastic incompressible electrically conducting fluid past a vertical porous plate through a porous medium with time dependant oscillatory permeability and suction in the presence of a uniform transverse magnetic field, heat source and chemical reaction has been studied in this paper. The novelty of the present study is to analyze the effect of chemical reaction, time dependant fluctuative suction and permeability of the medium on a visco-elastic fluid flow. It is interesting to note that presence of sink contributes to oscillatory motion leading to flow instability. Further it is remarked that presence of heat source and low rate of thermal diffusion counteract each other in the presence of reacting species.  相似文献

Under oscillatory Stokes flow, dynamic permeability of assemblage of soft spherical particles is derived. For the bed of soft particles, the fluid‐particle system is represented as an assemblage of uniform permeable spheres fixed in space. Each sphere, with a surrounding envelope of fluid, is uncoupled from the system and considered separately. This model is popularly known as cell model. Oscillatory Stokes equations are employed inside the fluid envelope, and oscillatory Brinkman equations are used inside the porous region. Four known boundary conditions namely: Happel's, Kuwabara's, Kvashnin's, and Cunningham's are considered on the outer boundary and results are compared. The behavior of dynamic permeability is analyzed with various parameters such as Darcy number (Da), frequency parameter (?), porosity (φ), and viscosity ratio (δ). We study the behavior of the solution to the non-stationary Stokes equations in a porous medium with characteristic size of the pores ε and containing a thin fissure {0?xn?η} of width η. The limit when ε and η tend to zero gives the homogenized behavior of the flow, which depends on the comparison between ε and η.  相似文献

We study numerical approximations of positive solutions of the porous medium equation with a nonlinear source, where m > 1, p > 0 and L > 0 are parameters. We describe in terms of p, m, and L when solutions of a semidiscretization in space exist globally in time and when they blow up in a finite time. We also find the blow‐up rates and the blow‐up sets, proving that there is no regional blow‐up for the numerical scheme. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We study a flow of fresh and salt water in a two dimensional axially symmetric coastal aquifer with a well on the central axis. The flow is governed by a nonlinear Darcy's law. We also show the behaviour of the solution when the out flow of salt water at well goes to 0. Received May 1999  相似文献

Some algebraically explicit analytical solutions are derived for the anisotropic Brinkman model-an improved Darcy model-describing the natural convection in porous media. Besides their important theoretical meaning (for example, to analyze the non-Darcy and anisotropic effects on the convection), such analytical solutions can be the benchmark solutions to promoting the development of computational heat and mass transfer. For instance, we can use them to check the accuracy, convergence and effectiveness of various numerical computational methods and to improve numerical calculation skills such as differential schemes and grid generation ways.  相似文献

We consider a non‐stationary Stokes system in a thin porous medium of thickness ε that is perforated by periodically distributed solid cylinders of size ε, and containing a fissure of width ηε. Passing to the limit when ε goes to zero, we find a critical size in which the flow is described by a 2D quasi‐stationary Darcy law coupled with a 1D quasi‐stationary Reynolds problem.

Application of homogenization theory related to Stokes flow in porous media   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We consider applications, illustration and concrete numerical treatments of some homogenization results on Stokes flow in porous media. In particular, we compute the global permeability tensor corresponding to an unidirectional array of circular fibers for several volume-fractions. A 3-dimensional problem is also considered.  相似文献

In this paper, we give a detailed study of the global attractors for porous medium equations in a heterogeneous medium. Not only the existence but also the infinite dimensionality of the global attractors is obtained by showing that their ?‐Kolmogorov entropy behaves as a polynomial of the variable 1 ∕ ? as ? tends to zero, which is not observed for non‐degenerate parabolic equations. The upper and lower bounds for the Kolmogorov ?‐entropy of infinite‐dimensional attractors are also obtained. We believe that the method developed in this paper has a general nature and can be applied to other classes of degenerate evolution equations. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the simulation of a compositional model for three‐dimensional, three‐phase, multicomponent flow in a porous medium. This model consists of Darcy's law for volumetric flow velocities, mass conservation for hydrocarbon components, thermodynamic equilibrium for mass interchange between phases, and an equation of state for saturations. A discretization scheme based on the block‐centered finite difference method for pressures and compositions is developed. Numerical results are reported for the benchmark problem of the third comparative solution project (CSP) organized by the society of petroleum engineers (SPE). © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The article studies the homogenization of a stationary Navier-Stokes fluid in porous medium with thin film under Dirichlet boundary condition. At the end of the article,"Darcy's law"is rigorously derived from this model as the parameter ε tends to zero, which is independent of the coordinates towards the thickness.  相似文献
