We obtain necessary conditions for the existence of two-peaked solutions of singularly perturbed elliptic equations. These conditions are related to the geometry of the domain. In the framework of values for TU-games, it is shown that a particular type of consistency, called linear consistency, together with some kind of standardness for two-person games, imply efficiency, anonymity, linearity, as well as uniqueness of the value. Among the several types of closures of an ideal I that have been defined and studied in the past decades, the integral closure has a central place being one of the earliest and most relevant. Despite this role, it is often a difficult challenge to describe it concretely once the generators of I are known. Our aim in this note is to show that in a broad class of ideals their radicals play a fundamental role in testing for integral closedness, and in case , is still helpful in finding some fresh new elements in . Among the classes of ideals under consideration are: complete intersection ideals of codimension two, generic complete intersection ideals, and generically Gorenstein ideals. We study the equations modelling the evolution of electromagnetic fields in chiral media with dispersion. We prove existence and uniqueness of solutions of these equations and provide estimates for the error of the optical response approximation for chiral media.  相似文献

We show that the Schrödinger propagator can be expanded in terms of resonances at energy levels at which a barrier separates the interaction region from infinity. The expansions hold for all times with errors small in the semi-classical parameter. As a byproduct we obtain a result on the approximation of clusters of resonant states by clusters of eigenfunctions of a self-adjoint reference operator.  相似文献

We use a method recently devised by Bolle to establish the existence of an infinite number of solutions for various non-homogeneous boundary value problems. In particular, we consider second order systems, Hamiltonian systems as well as semi-linear partial differential equations. The non-homogeneity can originate in the equation but also from the boundary conditions. The results are more satisfactory than those obtained by the standard “Perturbation from Symmetry” method that was developed – in various forms – in the early eighties by Bahri–Berestycki, Struwe and Rabinowitz. The asymptotic expansions of the trace of the heat kernel for small positive t, where λν are the eigenvalues of the negative Laplacian in Rn (n=2 or 3), are studied for a general annular bounded domain Ω with a smooth inner boundary ?Ω1 and a smooth outer boundary ?Ω2 where a finite number of piecewise smooth Dirichlet, Neumann and Robin boundary conditions on the components Γ j (j=1,…,m) of ?Ω1 and on the components of ?Ω2 are considered such that and and where the coefficients in the Robin boundary conditions are piecewise smooth positive functions. Recently Wolff [25] obtained a nearly sharp bilinear restriction theorem for bounded subsets of the cone in general dimension. We obtain the endpoint of Wolff's estimate and generalize to the case when one of the subsets is large. As a consequence, we are able to deduce some nearly-sharp null form estimates. Summary. For lattice models on ℤ d , weak mixing is the property that the influence of the boundary condition on a finite decays exponentially with distance from that region. For a wide class of models on ℤ2, including all finite range models, we show that weak mixing is a consequence of Gibbs uniqueness, exponential decay of an appropriate form of connectivity, and a natural coupling property. In particular, on ℤ2, the Fortuin-Kasteleyn random cluster model is weak mixing whenever uniqueness holds and the connectivity decays exponentially, and the q-state Potts model above the critical temperature is weak mixing whenever correlations decay exponentially, a hypothesis satisfied if q is sufficiently large. Ratio weak mixing is the property that uniformly over events A and B occurring on subsets Λ and Γ, respectively, of the lattice, |P(AB)/P(A)P(B)−1| decreases exponentially in the distance between Λ and Γ. In this paper, we prove that the first n nonzero Neumann eigenvalues of the Laplacian on Ω satisfy , where is a computable constant depending only on and , Ω being the volume of Ω. This result generalizes the corresponding estimate for bounded domains in a Euclidean space obtained recently by M. S. Ashbaugh and R. D. Benguria. In [] the authors constructed, for each r∈ (0,1), a function from a homogeneous tree of degree 2t to the open unit disk in the complex plane mapping the root of the tree to 0 and any pair of neighbors to points at hyperbolic distance r. Correspondingly, there is a free group of rank t of Möbius transformations such that the vertices of the tree are mapped to the orbit of 0, and the edges to geodesic arcs. One of the principal results of [] is to show that this function is an embedding of the tree when cos(π /2t)≤ r<1. This corrigendum fills a gap in the argument.  相似文献

A Volterra type integral equation in a Hilbert space with an additional linear operator L and a spectral parameter depending on time is considered. If the parameter does not belong to the spectrum of L unconditional solvability of the considered problem is proved. In the case where the initial value of the parameter coincides with some isolated point of the spectrum of the operator L sufficient conditions for solvability are established. The obtained results are applied to the partial integral equations associated with a contact problem of the theory of elasticity.  相似文献

We describe a natural deduction system NDIL for the second order intuitionistic linear logic which admits normalization and has a subformula property. NDIL is an extension of the system for !-free multiplicative linear logic constructed by the author and elaborated by A. Babaev. Main new feature here is the treatment of the modality !. It uses a device inspired by D. Prawitz' treatment of S4 combined with a construction introduced by the author to avoid cut-like constructions used in -elimination and global restrictions employed by Prawitz.
