Quadratic fractional functions are proved to be quasilinear if and only if they are pseudo-linear. For these classes of functions, some characterizations are provided by means of the inertia of the quadratic form and the behavior of the gradient of the function itself. The study is then developed showing that generalized linear quadratic fractional functions share a particular structure. Therefore it is possible to suggest a sort of canonical form for those functions. A wider class of functions given by the sum of a quadratic fractional function and a linear one is also studied. In this case generalized linearity is characterized by means of simple conditions. Finally, it is deepened on the role played by generalized linear quadratic fractional functions in optimization problems. 相似文献

We study the approximation of the classes

In this paper, the space-time Riesz fractional partial differential equations with periodic conditions are considered. The equations are obtained from the integral partial differential equation by replacing the time derivative with a Caputo fractional derivative and the space derivative with Riesz potential. The fundamental solutions of the space Riesz fractional partial differential equation (SRFPDE) and the space-time Riesz fractional partial differential equation (STRFPDE) are discussed, respectively. Using methods of Fourier series expansion and Laplace transform, we derive the explicit expressions of the fundamental solutions for the SRFPDE and the STRFPDE, respectively. 相似文献

The authors study an inverse problem for a fractional integrodifferential equation, which aims to determine simultaneously two time varying coefficients, a kernel function and a source function, from the additional integral overdetermination condition. In a recent work, we introduced the concept of convex extensions for lower semi-continuous functions and studied their properties. In this work, we present new techniques for constructing convex and concave envelopes of nonlinear functions using the theory of convex extensions. In particular, we develop the convex envelope and concave envelope of z=x/y over a hypercube. We show that the convex envelope is strictly tighter than previously known convex underestimators of x/y. We then propose a new relaxation technique for fractional programs which includes the derived envelopes. The resulting relaxation is shown to be a semidefinite program. Finally, we derive the convex envelope for a class of functions of the type f(x,y) over a hypercube under the assumption that f is concave in x and convex in y. 相似文献
