Operator Ergodic Theorems for Actions of Free Semigroups and Groups

New ergodic theorems are obtained for measure-preserving actions of free semigroups and groups. These theorems are derived from ergodic theorems for Markov operators. This approach also allows one to obtain ergodic theorems for some classes of Markov semigroups. Results of the paper generalize classical ergodic theorems of Kakutani, Oseledets, and Guivarc'h, and recent ergodic theorems of Grigorchuk, Nevo, and Nevo and Stein.     

Perturbation theorems for estimating magnitudes of roots of polynomials

Two additional new theorems are posed and proven to estimate the magnitudes of roots of polynomials. Perturbation theory and the order of magnitude of terms are employed to develop the theorems. The theorems may be useful to estimate the order of magnitudes of the roots of a polynomial a priori before solving the equation. The theorems are developed for two special classes of polynomials of arbitrary order with their coefficients satisfying certain conditions. Numerical applications of the theorems are presented as examples. It is shown that the theorems produce good estimates for the magnitudes of roots.     

Equivalent forms of a generalized KKM theorem and their applications

In this paper, we study various types of variational relation problems. We establish the existence of solutions for these types of problems and point out some important particular cases and their applications. We also show that some existence theorems of solution for these types of problems and some existence theorems of variational inclusion problems are equivalent to a generalized KKM theorem. Applying our results we obtain existence theorems of common fixed point, generalized maximal element theorems, a generalized coincidence theorems and a section theorem.     

Large deviations of renewal processes

Limit theorems for large deviations of renewal processes are presented. One result is for a terminating renewal process with small probability of terminating. These theorems are analogous to the classical Cramer and Feller large deviation theorems for sums of independent random variables.

System of Generalized Vector Quasi-Equilibrium Problems with Applications to Fixed Point Theorems for a Family of Nonexpansive Multivalued Mappings

In this paper, we establish the existence theorems of the generalized vector quasi-equilibrium problems. From some existence theorem, we establish fixed point theorems for a family of lower semicontinuous or nonexpansive multivalued mappings. We also obtain the existence theorems of system of mixed generalized vector variational-like inequalities and existence theorems of the Debreu vector equilibrium problems and the Nash vector equilibrium problems.     

Convergence of classes of subpramarts and games which become better with time

In this paper local convergence theorems for subpramarts and GBTs (games which become better with time) are presented. These results are also new for Martingales. Global convergence theorems for subpramarts and GBTs are also proved. These theorems are related to the theory of optimal stopping.     

Existence Theorems for Systems of Generalized Vector Quasiequilibrium Problems and Optimization Problems

In this paper, we use existence theorems for the equilibria of generalized abstract economies proved recently to establish existence theorems for systems of generalized vector quasiequilibrium problems. Then, these existence theorems for equilibrium problems are used to derive existence theorems for systems of generalized vector quasivariational-like inequality problems, and vector quasioptimization problems.This research was supported by the National Science Council of the Republic of China. Existence of best proximity pairs and equilibrium pairs

In this paper, using the fixed point theorem for Kakutani factorizable multifunctions, we shall prove new existence theorems of best proximity pairs and equilibrium pairs for free abstract economies, which include the previous fixed point theorems and equilibrium existence theorems.

The Study of KKM Theorems With Applications to Vector Equilibrium Problems and Implict Vector Variational Inequalities Problems

In this paper, we establish some equivalence relations between coincidence theorems and KKM-type theorems. We also obtain some new coincidence theorems and fixed point theorems. Applying the KKM-type theorems we obtain the existence theorems of generalized vector equilibrium problems. From these results, some existence theorems of generalized vector implicit variational inequality problems are established in this paper.

Interpolation of Operators on Scales of Generalized Lorentz-Zygmund Spaces

We define generalized Lorentz-Zygmund spaces and obtain interpolation theorems for quasilinear operators on such spaces, using weighted Hardy inequalities. In the limiting cases of interpolation, we discover certain scaling property of these spaces and use it to obtain fine interpolation theorems in which the source is a sum of spaces and the target is an intersection of spaces. This yields a considerable improvement of the known results which we demonstrate with examples. We prove sharpness of the interpolation theorems by showing that the constraints on parameters are necessary for the interpolation theorems.

A family of the Cauchy type mean-value theorems

The Cauchy type mean-value theorems for the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative are deduced here from known mean-value theorems of the Lagrange type. A general method for deducing these Cauchy type formulas is extracted. Two Cauchy type formulas are then deduced without a priori knowledge about the Lagrange type mean-value theorems.

A minimax theorem for functions with possibly nonconnected intersections of sublevel sets

We apply the selection theorem for multivalued mappings with paraconvex values (rather than various versions of KKM-principle) to prove several minimax theorems. In contrast with well-known minimax theorems for coordinatewise semicontinuous functions, in our theorems finite intersections of sublevel or uplevel sets can be nonempty and nonconnected.     

Counterexample and Optimality Conditions in Differentiable Multiobjective Programming

Recently, sufficient optimality theorems for (weak) Pareto-optimal solutions of a multiobjective optimization problem (MOP) were stated in Theorems 3.1 and 3.3 of Ref. 1. In this note, we give a counterexample showing that the theorems of Ref. 1 are not true. Then, by modifying the assumptions of these theorems, we establish two new sufficient optimality theorems for (weak) Pareto-optimal solutions of (MOP); moreover, we give generalized sufficient optimality theorems for (MOP).     

Characteristic classes of almost-flag structures

The aim of this paper is to present a basic theory of characteristic classes of almost-flag structures. Vanishing theorems for primary characteristic classes of almost-flag and almost-product structures are proved. Consequences of these theorems for secondary characteristic classes are drawn in the framework of Lehmann's theory. Two theorems on residues of flag structures complete the paper.
