Fixed point theory is used to investigate nonlinear discrete Volterra equations that are perturbed versions of linear equations. Sufficient conditions are established (i) to ensure that stability (in a sense that is defined) of the solutions of the linear equation implies a corresponding stability of the zero solution of the nonlinear equation and (ii) to ensure the existence of asymptotically periodic solutions.  相似文献

By using the critical point theory, some sufficient conditions for the existence of the solutions to the boundary value problems of a discrete generalized Emden-Fowler equation are obtained. In a special case, a sharp condition is obtained for the existence of the boundary value problems of the above equation. For a linear case, by the discrete variational theory, a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence, uniqueness and multiplicity of the solutions is also established.  相似文献

In this paper a proof of existence and non-existence of theconically self-similar free-vortex solutions to the Navier-Stokesequations, originally found by Yih et al. (1982, Phys. Fluids.25, 2147-2158), is presented. This proof clearly establishesthat these solutions do not have any kind of singularity atthe symmetry axis. This analysis gives considerably improvedexistence and non-existence bounds and it is shown that thesebounds are close to optimal in the low-swirling limit. Thisapproach links the questions of existence and non-existencefor the swirling case and for the non-swirling case. The proof,which is an extension of techniques developed by Serrin (1972,Phil. Trans. R. Soc. Lond. 271, 325-360), is based on Schauder'sFixed Point Theorem and is, therefore, non-constructive. Therefore,the paper ends with a brief discussion of the question of howto compute the conically self-similar free-vortex solutionsto the Navier-Stokes equations.  相似文献

We obtain new results for the above boundary value problems with nonlinear boundary conditions. This article"s goal is to investigate the space-fractional telegraph equation using an effective method called the Adomian natural decomposition method (ANDM), which is a combination of the Adomian decomposition method (ADM) and the natural transform method (NTM). Using the Banach fixed point theorem, we explore proofs for the existence and uniqueness theorems applying it to a nonlinear differential equation. Using our method, exact solutions of the space-fractional telegraph equation and time-fractional diffusion problems have been obtained. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the suggested scheme, four examples are provided.  相似文献

Nonlinear variational equations describing one type of suspension bridges are proposed and studied. The variational equations describe the behaviour of road bed, main cables and cable stays. The road bed is described by two functions connected with vertical and horizontal deformation of any cross section. The main cable is considered to be perfectly flexible and inextensible. The cable stays only resist tensile forces. The variational equations are derived from the principle of minimum potential energy. The existence of solution is based on the Brouwer Fixed Point Theorem. The local uniqueness and continuous dependence on the data represented by gravitational forces acting on the road bed are studied. The local results are based on the Implicit Function Theorem for Banach spaces. A certain stability criterion for suspension bridges is formulated and this criterion indicates how to influence the stability of suspension bridges.  相似文献

We obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of almost periodic solutions of almost periodic linear differential equations thereby extending Favard's classical theorem. These results are meant to complement previous results of the authors who have shown by means of a counterexample that the boundedness of all solutions is not, by itself, sufficient to guarantee the existence of an almost periodic solution to a linear almost periodic differential equation.

Many classical results for ordinary differential equations have counterparts in the theory of difference equations, although, in general, the technical details for the difference versions are more involved than the corresponding ones for differential equations. This note surveys material related to a difference analogue of Lettenmeyer's theorem. The projection method of Harris et al. , developed to treat certain questions in the analytic theory of ordinary differential equations is used to obtain counterparts for linear difference equations as well as extensions to certain nonlinear differential and difference equations.  相似文献
