We establish existence and uniqueness results for a general class of coupled nonlinear third order differential equations arising in flow and heat transfer problems. We consider solutions over the semi-infinite interval. As special cases, we recover the existence and uniqueness results of solutions for the following physically meaningful scenarios (among others): (i) flow and heat transfer over a stretching sheet, (ii) flow and heat transfer over a nonlinearly stretching porous sheet, (iii) linear convective flow and heat transfer over a porous nonlinearly stretching sheet and (iv) nonlinear convective heat transfer over a porous nonlinearly stretching sheet. In all the cases the effects of viscous dissipation and the internal heat generation/absorption on the flow and heat transfer characteristics are included. Moreover, the obtained results are applicable to several problems dealing with flow and heat transfer phenomena.  相似文献

The heat flow for Dirac-harmonic maps on Riemannian spin manifolds is a modification of the classical heat flow for harmonic maps by coupling it to a spinor. It was introduced by Chen, Jost, Sun, and Zhu as a tool to get a general existence program for Dirac-harmonic maps. For source manifolds with boundary they obtained short time existence, and the existence of a global weak solution was established by Jost, Liu, and Zhu. We prove short time existence of the heat flow for Dirac-harmonic maps on closed manifolds.  相似文献

Selfsimilar solutions of a system of stationary equations of heat condunction and filtration of molten material in the presence of a volume heat source generated by absorption of the energy of electromagnetic radiation, are considered. The possibility of the existence of a self-similar solution in the case of various (plane, cylindrical and spherical) spatial symmetries is studied. The existence of a selfsimilar solution is shown for the axisymmetric case when the radiation obeys a prescribed law. The influence of the surface volume heating and convective heat transfer due to filtration is studied. A solution for the case when the filtration of the molten phase is quasistationary is also investigated.  相似文献

We discuss global existence and asymptotic behaviour of a price formation free boundary model introduced by Lasry and Lions in 2007. Our results are based on a construction which transforms the problem into the heat equation with specially prepared initial datum. The key point is that the free boundary present in the original problem becomes the zero level set of this solution. Using the properties of the heat operator we can show global existence, regularity and asymptotic results of the free boundary.  相似文献

We study the space-time Brownian motion and the heat equation in non-cylindrical domains. The paper is mostly devoted to singularities of the heat equation near rough points of the boundary. Two types of singularities are identified—heat atoms and heat singularities. A number of explicit geometric conditions are given for the existence of singularities. Other properties of the heat equation solutions are analyzed as well.  相似文献

We consider viscoelastic solids undergoing thermal expansion and exhibiting hysteresis effects due to plasticity or phase transformations. Within the framework of generalized standard solids, the problem is described in a three-dimensional setting by the momentum equilibrium equation, the flow rule describing the dependence of the stress on the strain history, and the heat transfer equation. Under appropriate regularity assumptions on the data, a local existence result for this thermodynamically consistent system is established, by combining existence results for ordinary differential equations in Banach spaces with a fixed-point argument. Then global estimates are obtained by using both the classical energy estimate and more specific techniques for the heat equation introduced by Boccardo and Gallouët. Finally a global existence result is derived.  相似文献

We consider a nonstationary nonlinear initial-boundary value problem governing radiative-conductive heat transfer in a periodic system of grey heat shields. The existence and uniqueness of a weak solution and a regular weak solution are established. Estimates for the solutions in terms of the data of the problem are obtained. We discuss local and global existence and uniqueness for the price formation free boundary model with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions introduced by Lasry and Lions in 2007. The results are based on a transformation of the problem to the heat equation with nonstandard boundary conditions. The free boundary becomes the zero level set of the solution of the heat equation. The transformation allows us to construct an explicit solution and discuss the behavior of the free boundary. Global existence can be verified under certain conditions on the free boundary and examples of non-existence are given.  相似文献

In this paper we prove existence of global strong-weak two-dimensional solutions to the Navier-Stokes and heat equations coupled by the external force dependent on temperature and the heat dissipation, respectively. The existence is proved in a bounded domain with the Navier boundary conditions for velocity and the Dirichlet boundary condition for temperature. We state an optimal control problem of the coupled quasi-stationary radiative heat equations consisting of the radiative transfer equation and the instationary heat transfer equation that model radiative-conductive heat transfer. The existence of a solution is proved for a model of compressible, heat conducting fluid inside a heat conducting domain. Boundary conditions for the temperature involving a radiation term are assumed. Compared to other approaches, the scheme used for the proof requires lower regularity of the domain boundary in the case of its application to barotropic compressible fluids.  相似文献

We prove a global in time existence theorem of classical solutions of the initial boundary value problem for a non-linear thermoviscoelastic equation in a bounded domain for very smooth initial data, external forces and heat supply which are very close to a specific constant equilibrium state. Our proof is a combination of a local in time existence theorem and some a priori estimates of local in time solutions. Such a priori estimates are proved basically for suitable linear problems by using some multiplicative techniques. An exponential stability of the constant equilibrium state also follows from our proof of the existence and regularity theorems.  相似文献

The aim of this article is to prove a global existence result with small data for the heat flow for harmonic maps from a manifold flat at infinity into a compact manifold. By flat at infinity we mean that the growth rate of the volumes of the balls on the manifold is the same as in the flat space. This is true for any manifold for small enough radius, but is in general not true when the radius of the ball grows. So prescribing such a growth rate also at infinity selects a class of manifolds on which our result holds. In this setting estimates are available for the heat kernel and its gradient on the base manifold. From such estimates it is easy to get L p L q bounds for the heat kernel. A contraction principle argument then yields a local existence result in a suitable Sobolev space and a global existence result for small data.  相似文献

The general solution of the thermal problem of convective heat conduction with volume heat dissipation caused by viscous dissipation of kinetic energy of the fluid, whose velocity field is determined by the exact solution /1/ of the Navier-Stokes equations, is considered for a submerged stream. The possible formulation of the heat problem and the characteristic behaviour of the solutions are investigated. The solutions obtained have a special feature, namely the existence, under specified conditions, of two regimes of convective heat exchange.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to existence, uniqueness and asymptotic behavior, as time tends to infinity, of the solutions of an integro-partial differential equation arising from the theory of heat conduction with memory, in presence of a temperature-dependent heat supply. A linearized heat flux law involving positive instantaneous conductivity is matched with the energy balance, to generate an autonomous semilinear system subject to initial history and Dirichlet boundary conditions. Existence and uniqueness of solution is provided. Moreover, under proper assumptions on the heat flux memory kernel, the existence of absorbing sets in suitable function spaces is achieved. This Note deals with the existence of planar flames, in the case of a single-step chemical reaction with volumetric heat losses.
