Abstract

The oscillation theory for two simultaneous systems of second order linear differential equations in two parameters with periodic boundary conditions is well known when the coefficients of the differential equations are subjected to the usual definiteness condition. However, in practical applications the usual definiteness condition may fail to hold, and hence in this paper we consider the oscillation theory under another important definiteness condition.  相似文献

In this work we study the blow up phenomena for some scalar delay differential equations. In particular, we make connection with the blow up of ordinary differential equations that are related to the delay differential equations. In this paper, we establish the global attractivity of the positive steady state of the diffusive Nicholson's equation with homogeneous Neumann boundary value under a condition that makes the equation a non-monotone dynamical system. Combining functional analytical and graph theoretical methods, we investigate flow processes as in the papers [15] and [16], but we change the transmission process in the nodes of the network. Instead of conservation of mass, we assume that the velocity of the outgoing flow mass in the vertices is determined by the total incoming flow mass and by the outgoing flow in the other vertices.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the existence, nonexistence and multiplicity of a positive solution for a Gelfand type generalized Laplacian system with a singular indefinite weight and a vector parameter. By using the upper and lower solution method and fixed point index theory, we obtain a global multiplicity result with respect to the parameter.  相似文献

We prove a stability theorem for the eigenvalues of general non-negative self-adjoint linear operators with compact resolvents and by applying it we prove a sharp stability result for the dependence of the eigenvalues of second order uniformly elliptic linear operators with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions upon domain perturbation.  相似文献

We study the existence, uniqueness, global asymptotic stability and propagation failure of traveling wave fronts in a lattice delayed differential equation with global interaction for a single species population with two age classes and a fixed maturation period living in a spatially unbounded environment. In the bistable case, under realistic assumptions on the birth function, we prove that the equation admits a strictly monotone increasing traveling wave front. Moreover, if the wave speed does not vanish, then the wave front is unique (up to a translation) and globally asymptotic stable with phase shift. Of particular interest is the phenomenon of “propagation failure” or “pinning” (that is, wave speed c = 0), we also give some criteria for pinning in this paper.  相似文献

In this paper we consider boundary-value problems in domains with perforated boundaries. We use the classification of homogenized (limit) problems depending on the ratio of small parameters, which characterize the diameter of the holes and the distance between them. We prove an existence result for radial solutions of a Neumann elliptic problem whose nonlinearity asymptotically lies between the first two eigenvalues. To this aim, we introduce an alternative nonresonance condition with respect to the second eigenvalue which, in the scalar case, generalizes the classical one, in the spirit of Fonda et al. (1991) [2]. Our approach also applies for nonlinearities which do not necessarily satisfy a subcritical growth assumption.  相似文献

Given a linear differential system which is not reducible as defined by Moser [6], we provide an improved estimate for the maximum growth order of its solutions. Our proof relies on the results in [2] and a generalisation of the Splitting Lemma [7]. This result can be useful when designing algorithms for computing and related formal invariants.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the existence, uniqueness and globally asymptotic stability of traveling wave fronts in the quasi-monotone reaction advection diffusion equations with nonlocal delay. Under bistable assumption, we construct various pairs of super- and subsolutions and employ the comparison principle and the squeezing technique to prove that the equation has a unique nondecreasing traveling wave front (up to translation), which is monotonically increasing and globally asymptotically stable with phase shift. The influence of advection on the propagation speed is also considered. Comparing with the previous results, our results recovers and/or improves a number of existing ones. In particular, these results can be applied to a reaction advection diffusion equation with nonlocal delayed effect and a diffusion population model with distributed maturation delay, some new results are obtained.  相似文献

A quasilinear singular parabolic system corresponding to recent models of chemotaxis in which (1) there is an impassable threshold for the density of cells and (2) the diffusion of cells becomes singular (fast or superdiffusion) when the density approaches the threshold. It is proved that for some range of parameters describing the relation between the diffusive and the chemotactic component of the cell flux there are global-in-time classical solutions which in some cases are separated from the threshold uniformly in time. Global-in-time weak solutions in the case of fast diffusion and the set of stationary states are studied as well. The applications of the general results to particular models are shown.  相似文献

For a Nicholson’s blowflies model with patch structure and multiple discrete delays, we study some aspects of its global dynamics. Conditions for the absolute global asymptotic stability of both the trivial equilibrium and a positive equilibrium (when it exists) are given. The existence of positive heteroclinic solutions connecting the two equilibria is also addressed. We further consider a diffusive Nicholson-type model with patch structure, and establish a criterion for the existence of positive travelling wave solutions, for large wave speeds. Several applications illustrate the results, improving some criteria in the recent literature.  相似文献

In this paper we carry on the study of asymptotic behavior of some solutions to a singularly perturbed problem with mixed Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions, started in the first paper [J. Garcia Azorero, A. Malchiodi, L. Montoro, I. Peral, Concentration of solutions for some singularly perturbed mixed problems: Existence results, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal., in press]. Here we are mainly interested in the analysis of the location and shape of least energy solutions when the singular perturbation parameter tends to zero. We show that in many cases they coincide with the new solutions produced in [J. Garcia Azorero, A. Malchiodi, L. Montoro, I. Abstract

In this paper the odd-order differential equation M[y] λ wy on the interval (O,∞), associated with the symmetric differential expression M of (2k-1)st order (k ≥ 2) with w a positive weight function and λ a complex number, is shown to possess k-Titchmarsh-Weyl solutions for every non-real λ in the underlying Hilbert space L2 w(O, ∞) having identical representation for every non-real λ. In terms of these solutions the Green's function associated with the singular boundary value problem is shown to possess identical representation for all non-real λ which has been further made use of in the third-order case to establish a direct convergence eigenfunction expansion theorem. The symmetric spectral matrix appearing in the expansion theorem has been characterized in terms of the Titchmarsh-Weyl m-coefficients.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the operator equation in a real Banach space E with cone P: where A = KF; here K is a e-positive, e-continuous and completely continuous operator, and F is a strictly increasing and continuous operator which is Fréchet differentiable at θ. Under certain conditions, we show that the operator equation has at least three solutions x1, x2, x3 such that x1P, x2 ∈ (−P), x3E\(P ∪ (−P)). Now since the third solution x3E\(P ∪ (−P)), we call it a sign-changing solution. As an application of the main results, we investigate the existence of sign-changing solutions for some three-point boundary value problem.  相似文献

For the study of the various stabilities in multi-valued dynamical systems, we obtain some necessary and sufficient conditions of the notions of stability and Lyapunov stability, and investigate the connection between the concepts of attractions and the suitable versions of limit sets. Also we consider the notion of characteristic 0+ in multi-valued dynamical systems and obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the concept of characteristic 0+.  相似文献
