We study nonlinear wave and heat equations on ℝ d driven by a spatially homogeneous Wiener process. For the wave equation we consider the cases of d = 1, 2, 3. The heat equation is considered on an arbitrary ℝ d -space. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a function-valued solution in terms of the covariance kernel of the noise. We consider the nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation posed on the box [0,L]d with periodic boundary conditions. The aim is to describe the long‐time dynamics by deriving effective equations for it when L is large and the characteristic size ɛ of the data is small. Such questions arise naturally when studying dispersive equations that are posed on large domains (like water waves in the ocean), and also in the theory of statistical physics of dispersive waves, which goes by the name of “wave turbulence.” Our main result is deriving a new equation, the continuous resonant (CR) equation, which describes the effective dynamics for large L and small ɛ over very large timescales. Such timescales are well beyond the (a) nonlinear timescale of the equation, and (b) the euclidean timescale at which the effective dynamics are given by (NLS) on ℝd. The proof relies heavily on tools from analytic number theory, such as a relatively modern version of the Hardy‐Littlewood circle method, which are modified and extended to be applicable in a PDE setting.© 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

This paper deals with the higher-order Kirchhoff-type equation with nonlinear dissipationutt+(Ω׀Dmu׀2dx)q(−Δ)mu+ut׀ut׀ru׀pu,xΩ,t>0,in a bounded domain, where m < 1 is a positive integer, q, p, r < 0 arepositive constants. We obtain that the solution exists globally if pr, while ifp > max r, 2q , then for any initial data with negative initial energy, the solution blowsup at finite time in Lp+2 norm.  相似文献

We consider the quadratically semilinear wave equation on (? d , 𝔤), d ≥ 3. The metric 𝔤 is non-trapping and approaches the Euclidean metric like ?x?. Using Mourre estimates and the Kato theory of smoothness, we obtain, for ρ > 0, a Keel–Smith–Sogge type inequality for the linear equation. Thanks to this estimate, we prove long time existence for the nonlinear problem with small initial data for ρ ≥ 1. Long time existence means that, for all n > 0, the life time of the solution is a least δ?n , where δ is the size of the initial data in some appropriate Sobolev space. Moreover, for d ≥ 4 and ρ > 1, we obtain global existence for small data.  相似文献

We consider the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation in ? d . We call multi-solitary waves a solution behaving at large time as a sum of boosted standing waves. Our main result is the existence of such multi-solitary waves, provided the composing boosted standing waves are stable. It is obtained by solving the equation backward in time around a sequence of approximate multi-solitary waves and showing convergence to a solution with the desired property. The main ingredients of the proof are finite speed of propagation, variational characterizations of the profiles, modulation theory and energy estimates.  相似文献

Summary As a microscopic model we consider a system of interacting continuum like spin field overR d . Its evolution law is determined by the Ginzburg-Landau type random Hamiltonian and the total spin of the system is preserved by this evolution. We show that the spin field converges, under the hydrodynamic space-time scalling, to a deterministic limit which is a solution of a certain nonlinear diffusion equation. This equation describes the time evolution of the macroscopic field. The hydrodynamic scaling has an effect of the homogenization on the system at the same time.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the focusing and defocusing energy-subcritical, nonlinear wave equation in ?1+d with radial initial data for d = 4,5. We prove that if a solution remains bounded in the critical space on its interval of existence, then the solution exists globally and scatters at ±∞. The proof follows the concentration compactness/rigidity method initiated by Kenig and Merle, and the main obstacle is to show the nonexistence of nonzero solutions with a certain compactness property. A main novelty of this work is the use of a simple virial argument to rule out the existence of nonzero solutions with this compactness property rather than channels of energy arguments that have been proven to be most useful in odd dimensions.  相似文献

Our analysis of a certain stochastic difference equation driven by a martingale k?M(x,k) that depends on a spatial parameter xR d requires some regularity properties of the underlying martingale be satisfied. Because of their independent interest, we present these regularity properties in this article. We study first the continuity and Lipschitz continuity properties under corresponding conditions on the quadratic covariation of the martingale. We follow this with differentiability and integrability properties. Our analysis of the stochastic difference equation requires a discrete-time version of Itô's formula. The discrete-time Itô formula we have derived involves a martingale transform term. The purpose of the final section is to introduce linear and nonlinear martingale transforms and analyze their properties.  相似文献

The pseudo-dimension of a real-valued function class is an extension of the VC dimension for set-indicator function classes. A class of finite pseudo-dimension possesses a useful statistical smoothness property. In [10] we introduced a nonlinear approximation width = which measures the worst-case approximation error over all functions by the best manifold of pseudo-dimension n . In this paper we obtain tight upper and lower bounds on ρ n (W r,d p , L q ) , both being a constant factor of n -r/d , for a Sobolev class W r,d p , . As this is also the estimate of the classical Alexandrov nonlinear n -width, our result proves that approximation of W r,d p by the family of manifolds of pseudo-dimension n is as powerful as approximation by the family of all nonlinear manifolds with continuous selection operators. The equation d2x/dt2=Ax +f(t, x) is considered in a Banach space E, where A is a fixed unbounded linear operator, andf(t, x) is a nonlinear operator which is periodic in t and satisfies a Lipschitz condition with respect to x E. Existence conditions have been obtained for a well defined generalized periodic solution of this equation, and also when this solution coincides with the true solution. Similar results have been obtained for the first order equation.Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 4, No. 1, pp. 105–112, July, 1968.  相似文献

We consider a percolation process on a random tiling of ℝd into Voronoi cells based on points of a realization of a Poisson process. We prove the existence of a phase transition as the proportion p of open cells is varied and provide estimates for the critical probability pc. Specifically, we prove that for large d, 2d(9d log d)−1pc(d) ≤ C2d log d. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Random Struct. Alg., 2005  相似文献

We study the one-dimensional symmetry of solutions to the nonlinear Stokes equation which are periodic in the d − 1 last variables (living on the torus 𝕋d−1) and globally minimize the corresponding energy in Ω = ℝ × 𝕋d−1, i.e., Namely, we find a class of nonlinear potentials W ≥ 0 such that any global minimizer u of E connecting two zeros of W as x1 → ± ∞ is one-dimensional; i.e., u depends only on the x1 -variable. In particular, this class includes in dimension d = 2 the nonlinearities with w being a harmonic function or a solution to the wave equation, while in dimension d ≥ 3 , this class contains a perturbation of the Ginzburg-Landau potential as well as potentials W having d + 1 wells with prescribed transition cost between the wells. For that, we develop a theory of calibrations relying on the notion of entropy (coming from scalar conservation laws). We also study the problem of the existence of global minimizers of E for general potentials W providing in particular compactness results for uniformly finite energy maps u in Ω connecting two wells of W as x1 → ± ∞ . © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Suppose that independent U(0, 1) weights are assigned to the ${d\choose 2}n^{2}$ edges of the complete d‐partite graph with n vertices in each of the d maximal independent sets. Then the expected weight of the minimum‐weight perfect d‐dimensional matching is at least $\frac{3}{16}n^{1-(2/d)}$. We describe a randomized algorithm that finds a perfect d‐dimensional matching whose expected weight is at most 5d3n1?(2/d)+d15 for all d≥3 and n≥1. © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Random Struct. Homogenization in the small period limit for the solution ue of the Cauchy problem for a parabolic equation in Rd is studied. The coefficients are assumed to be periodic in Rd with respect to the lattice ɛG. As ɛ → 0, the solution u ɛ converges in L2(Rd) to the solution u0 of the effective problem with constant coefficients. The solution u ɛis approximated in the norm of the Sobolev space H 1(Rd) with error O( ɛ); this approximation is uniform with respect to the L2-norm of the initial data and contains a corrector term of order ɛ. The dependence of the constant in the error estimate on time t is given. Also, an approximation in H 1(Rd) for the solution of the Cauchy problem for a nonhomogeneous parabolic equation is obtained.  相似文献

We consider a nonlinear differential stochastical equation in a Hilbert space, that is, a Lipschitzian perturbation of a linear equation. We prove that, under suitable hypotheses, both equations have invariant measures μ and μ0 respectively and that μ is absolutely continuous with respect to μ0. We also give several regularity results on the density dμ/dμ0.  相似文献

In this paper we present some results on the global existence of weak solutions to a nonlinear variational wave equation and some related problems. We first introduce the main tools, the L p Young measure theory and related compactness results, in the first section. Then we use the L p Young measure theory to prove the global existence of dissipative weak solutions to the asymptotic equation of the nonlinear wave equation, and comment on its relation to Camassa-Holm equations in the second section. In the third section, we prove the global existence of weak solutions to the original nonlinear wave equation under some restrictions on the wave speed. In the last section, we present global existence of renormalized solutions to two-dimensional model equations of the asymptotic equation, which is also the so-called vortex density equation arising from sup-conductivity.  相似文献

Summary We solve the heat equation associated with a Schrödinger operator with magnetic field onR d using a stochastic integral which involves only the magnetic field and does not use any potential of the field. Then we study a particular case on the torusT d to show that our formula is no longer true and that an hypothesis like simple connexity is necessary.  相似文献

In this article, we prove stability estimate of the inverse problem of determining the magnetic field entering the magnetic wave equation in a bounded smooth domain in ? d from boundary observations. This information is enclosed in the hyperbolic (dynamic) Dirichlet-to-Neumann map associated to the solutions to the magnetic wave equation. We prove in dimension d ≥ 2 that the knowledge of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map for the magnetic wave equation measured on the boundary determines uniquely the magnetic field and we prove a Hölder-type stability in determining the magnetic field induced by the magnetic potential.  相似文献
