We study locally Cohen-Macaulay space curves lying on normal surfaces. We prove some theorems on the behaviour of the cohomology functions and initial ideals of such space curves, which give a basic distinction between those curves and curves lying on non-normal surfaces.

We consider several modified versions of the Positivstellensatz for global analytic functions that involve infinite sums of squares and/or positive semidefinite analytic functions. We obtain a general local-global criterion which localizes the obstruction to have such a global result. This criterion allows us to get completely satisfactory results for analytic curves, normal analytic surfaces and real coherent analytic sets whose connected components are all compact.  相似文献

We study the geometric properties of degenerate surfaces, which are called AdS null surfaces, in Anti de Sitter 3-space from a contact viewpoint. These surfaces are associated to spacelike curves in Anti de Sitter 3-space. We define a map which is called the torus Gauss image. We also define two families of functions and use them to investigate the singularities of AdS null surfaces and torus Gauss images as applications of singularity theory of functions.  相似文献

We study a class of examples of negatively curved compact Kähler surfaces that are not diffeomorphic to any locally symmetric space. From the analysis of certain totally geodesic curves on these surfaces we deduce that, for infinitely many examples, the natural representation of the fundamental group into PU(2,1) is non-faithful. We also give a new construction of bounded holomorphic functions on the universal cover of our surfaces, based on lifting maps to compact Riemann surfaces.  相似文献

We study 3-dimensional minimal Lagrangian submanifolds of the 3-dimensional complex projective space ?P3 (4) which admit a unit length Killing vector field whose integral curves are geodesics. We show that such Lagrangian submanifolds can be obtained from either horizontal holomorphic curves in ?P3 (4) (or equivalently superminimal immersions of surfaces in S4 (1)) or from solutions of the two dimensional sinh-Gordon equation. In the latter case, we explicitly obtain the immersions in terms of elliptic functions in the case that the solutions of the sinh-Gordon equation depend only on one variable.  相似文献

A method to construct fractal surfaces by recurrent fractal curves is provided. First we construct fractal interpolation curves using a recurrent iterated functions system (RIFS) with function scaling factors and estimate their box-counting dimension. Then we present a method of construction of wider class of fractal surfaces by fractal curves and Lipschitz functions and calculate the box-counting dimension of the constructed surfaces. Finally, we combine both methods to have more flexible constructions of fractal surfaces.  相似文献

In this paper, we study functions of one variable that are called boundary terms of two-dimensional zeta integrals established in recent works of Ivan Fesenko?s two-dimensional adelic analysis attached to arithmetic elliptic surfaces. It is known that the positivity of the fourth log derivatives of boundary terms around the origin is a sufficient condition for the Riemann hypothesis of Hasse-Weil L-functions of elliptic curves. We show that such positivity is also a necessary condition under some reasonable technical assumptions.  相似文献

We consider averaging operators over curves and surfaces satisfying the rotational curvature condition of Phong and Stein. Using combinatorial arguments restricted weak-type versions of the standard estimates are obtained under weaker assumptions on the regularity of these surfaces. We also consider maximal functions over circles in the plane and obtain a simpler proof of Wolff's endpoint result.  相似文献

We consider the problem of interpolation of curves and surfaces using parametric functions. In this problem the choice of parameters has a strong influence on the form of interpolants. We introduce a framework for the construction, maintenance, and manipulation of arrangements of curves embedded on certain two-dimensional orientable parametric surfaces in three-dimensional space. The framework applies to planes, cylinders, spheres, tori, and surfaces homeomorphic to them. We reduce the effort needed to generalize existing algorithms, such as the sweep line and zone traversal algorithms, originally designed for arrangements of bounded curves in the plane, by extensive reuse of code. We have realized our approach as the Cgal package Arrangement_on_surface_2. We define a compact and modular interface for our framework; for a given application a required small subset of the interface can be identified. Then, only this subset must be implemented. A companion paper describes concretizations for several types of surfaces and curves embedded on them, and applications. This is the first implementation of a generic algorithm that can handle arrangements on a large class of parametric surfaces.  相似文献

In this paper we provide a characterisation of rational developable surfaces in terms of the blossoms of the bounding curves and three rational functions Λ,M,v.Properties of developable surfaces are revised in this framework.In particular,a closed algebraic formula for the edge of regression of the surface is obtained in terms of the functions Λ,M,v,which are closely related to the ones that appear in the standard decomposition of the derivative of the parametrisation of one of the bounding curves in terms of the director vector of the rulings and its derivative.It is also shown that all rational developable surfaces can be described as the set of developable surfaces which can be constructed with a constant Λ,M,v.The results are readily extended to rational spline developable surfaces.  相似文献

We investigate the topological structure of Alexandrov surfaces of curvature bounded below which possess convex functions. We do not assume the continuities of these functions. Nevertheless, if the convex functions satisfy a condition of local nonconstancy, then the topological structures of Alexandrov surfaces and the level sets configurations of these functions in question are determined.

A new formulation for the representation and designing of curves and surfaces is presented. It is a novel generalization of Bézier curves and surfaces. Firstly, a class of polynomial basis functions with nn adjustable shape parameters is present. It is a natural extension to classical Bernstein basis functions. The corresponding Bézier curves and surfaces, the so-called Quasi-Bézier (i.e., Q-Bézier, for short) curves and surfaces, are also constructed and their properties studied. It has been shown that the main advantage compared to the ordinary Bézier curves and surfaces is that after inputting a set of control points and values of newly introduced nn shape parameters, the desired curve or surface can be flexibly chosen from a set of curves or surfaces which differ either locally or globally by suitably modifying the values of the shape parameters, when the control polygon is maintained. The Q-Bézier curve and surface inherit the most properties of Bézier curve and surface and can be more approximated to the control polygon. It is visible that the properties of end-points on Q-Bézier curve and surface can be locally controlled by these shape parameters. Some examples are given by figures.  相似文献

The main purpose of this paper is to study projective classes of bidegree (2,1) parametrizable surfaces in a real projective 3-space. It turns out that the implicit degree of such surfaces is two, three, or four, and singular curves have degree three. We describe all possibilities for singular curves and pinch points on such surfaces.
