Some Integral Mean Estimates for Polynomials with Restricted Zeros

Let P(z) be a polynomial of degree n having all its zeros in |z| ≤ k. Fork = 1,it is known that for each r 0 and |α|≥ 1,n(|α|- 1) {∫2π0|P(eiθ)|rdθ}1/r 0r≤ {∫2π0|1+ eiθ|rdθ}1/rmax|z|=|Dα P(z)|.In this paper, we shall first consider the case when k ≥ 1 and present certain generalizations of this inequality. Also for k ≤ 1, we shall prove an interesting result for Lacunary type of polynomials from which many results can be easily deduced.     

Estimation of Norms of Multivariate Polynomials with Integral Coefficients

Using Fekete's method we obtain estimates for theL_p-norms of minimal integral generalized multivariate polynomials. We particularize these estimates for the cases of ordinary polynomials and quasi-polynomials. We also show the existence of a limit in the minimal quadratic deviations from zero for univariate integral polynomials.     

q-Hermite Polynomials and a q-Beta Integral

The main object of the present paper is to derive a formula for the q-Hahn.polynomials by using the q-Mehler formula about the q-Hermite polynomials.This result, together with other properties of the q-Hermite polynomials, provides an evalution of a q-beta integral.Both the celebrated Askey-Wilson integral and the Ismail-Stanton-Viennot integral are special cases of this integral.

Integral Representations of the Wilson Polynomials and the Continuous Dual Hahn Polynomials

We give representations of the Wilson polynomials and the continuous dual Hahn polynomials in terms of multidimensional generalizations of Barnes type integrals. Motivation is to study the Barnes type integrals from the viewpoint of the de Rham theory and holonomic systems.

Eventual Positivity of Hermitian Polynomials and Integral Operators

Quillen proved that if a Hermitian bihomogeneous polynomial is strictly positive on the unit sphere, then repeated multiplication of the standard sesquilinear form to this polynomial eventually results in a sum of Hermitian squares. Catlin-D'Angelo and Varolin deduced this positivstellensatz of Quillen from the eventual positive-definiteness of an associated integral operator. Their arguments involve asymptotic expansions of the Bergman kernel. The goal of this article is to give an elementary proof of the positive-definiteness of this integral operator.     

Ehrhart Polynomials of 3-Dimensional Simple Integral Convex Polytopes

The author gives an explicit formula on the Ehrhart polynomial of a 3-dimensional simple integral convex polytope by using toric geometry.     

Newton-Type Methods for Quasidifferentiable Equations

In this paper, we present two Newton-type methods for solving quasidifferentiable equations in the sense of Demyanov and Rubinov (Ref. 1). Method I is well defined and is a natural extension of the classical Newton method, based on a generalized Kakutani fixed-point theorem. Method II is a simplified version and requires less computation than Method I. Under some mild assumptions, we establish a locally quadratic convergent theorem for Method I and prove a semilocal convergence theorem for Method II.     

On Quadratic Integral Polynomials with only Finitely Many Roots in any Commutative Finite-Dimensional Algebra

One-Sided Integral Approximations of the Generalized Poisson Kernel by Trigonometric Polynomials

We consider the generalized Poisson kernel Π _q,α = cos(απ/2)P + sin(απ/2)Q with q ∈ (?1, 1) and α ∈ ?, which is a linear combination of the Poisson kernel \(P(t) = 1/2 + \sum\nolimits_{k = 1}^\infty {{q^k}} \cos kt\)and the conjugate Poisson kernel \(Q(t) = \sum\nolimits_{k = 1}^\infty {{q^k}} \sin kt\). The values of the best integral approximation to the kernel Π _q,α from below and from above by trigonometric polynomials of degree not exceeding a given number are found. The corresponding polynomials of the best one-sided approximation are obtained.
