We construct a new version of syntomic cohomology, called rigid syntomic cohomology, for smooth schemes over the ring of integers of ap-adic field. This version is more refined than previous constructions and naturally maps to most of them. We construct regulators fromK-theory into rigid syntomic cohomology. We also define a “modified” syntomic cohomology, which is better behaved in explicit computations yet is isomorphic to rigid syntomic cohomology in most cases of interest.  相似文献

We reformulate part of the arguments of T. Geisser and M. Levine relating motivic cohomology with finite coefficients to truncated étale cohomology with finite coefficients [9,10]. This reformulation amounts to a uniqueness theorem for motivic cohomology, and shows that the Geisser-Levine method can be applied generally to compare motivic cohomology with other types of cohomology theories. We apply this to prove an equivalence between conjectures of Tate and Beilinson on cycles in characteristic p and a vanishing conjecture for continuous étale cohomology. We extend the methods of Faltings and Tsuji, and prove that ifK is a field of characteristic 0 with a complete, discrete valuation, and a perfect residue field of characteristicp, then thep-adic étale cohomology of a finite typeK-scheme is potentially semi-stable. We prove a similar result for cohomology with compact support, and for cohomology with support in a closed subspace ofX. We establish a relationship between these cohomology groups, and the de Rham cohomology ofX.  相似文献

We introduce a generalization of the notion of local cohomology module, which we call a local cohomology module with respect to a pair of ideals (I,J), and study its various properties. Some vanishing and nonvanishing theorems are given for this generalized version of local cohomology. We also discuss its connection with ordinary local cohomology.  相似文献

We study an integration theory in circle equivariant cohomology in order to prove a theorem relating the cohomology ring of a hyperkähler quotient to the cohomology ring of the quotient by a maximal abelian subgroup, analogous to a theorem of Martin for symplectic quotients. We discuss applications of this theorem to quiver varieties, and compute as an example the ordinary and equivariant cohomology rings of a hyperpolygon space.  相似文献

We study the Kac cohomology for matched pairs of locally compact groups. This cohomology theory arises from the extension theory of locally compact quantum groups. We prove a measurable version of the Kac exact sequence and provide methods to compute the cohomology. We give explicit calculations in several examples using results of Moore and Wigner.

In this paper we study relative and Tate cohomology of modules of finite Gorenstein injective dimension. Using these cohomology theories, we present variations of Grothendieck local cohomology modules, namely Gorenstein and Tate local cohomology modules. By applying a sort of Avramov-Martsinkovsky exact sequence, we show that these two variations of local cohomology are tightly connected to the generalized local cohomology modules introduced by J. Herzog. We discuss some properties of these modules and give some results concerning their vanishing and non-vanishing.

We discuss lifting and reduction problems for bundles and gerbes in the context of a Lie 2-group. We obtain a geometrical formulation (and a new proof) for the exactness of Breen’s long exact sequence in non-abelian cohomology. We use our geometrical formulation in order to define a transgression map in non-abelian cohomology. This transgression map relates the degree one non-abelian cohomology of a smooth manifold (represented by non-abelian gerbes) with the degree zero non-abelian cohomology of the free loop space (represented by principal bundles). We prove several properties for this transgression map. For instance, it reduces–in case of a Lie 2-group with a single object–to the ordinary transgression in ordinary cohomology. We describe applications of our results to string manifolds: first, we obtain a new comparison theorem for different notions of string structures. Second, our transgression map establishes a direct relation between string structures and spin structures on the loop space.  相似文献

We construct a new equivariant cohomology theory for a certain class of differential vertex algebras, which we call the chiral equivariant cohomology. A principal example of a differential vertex algebra in this class is the chiral de Rham complex of Malikov-Schechtman-Vaintrob of a manifold with a group action. The main idea in this paper is to synthesize the algebraic approach to classical equivariant cohomology due to H. Cartan,2 with the theory of differential vertex algebras, by using an appropriate notion of invariant theory. We also construct the vertex algebra analogues of the Mathai-Quillen isomorphism, the Weil and the Cartan models for equivariant cohomology, and the Chern-Weil map. We give interesting cohomology classes in the new theory that have no classical analogues.  相似文献

We study a noncommutative version of the infinitesimal site of Grothendieck. A theorem of Grothendieck establishes that the cohomology of the structure sheaf on the infinitesimal topology of a scheme of characteristic zero is de Rham cohomology. We prove that, for the noncommutative infinitesimal topology of an associative algebra over a field of characteristic zero, the cohomology of the structure sheaf modulo commutators is periodic cyclic cohomology. We also compute the noncommutative infinitesimal cohomology of other sheaves. For example, we show that infinitesimal hypercohomology with coefficients in K-theory gives the fiber of the Jones–Goodwillie character which goes from K-theory to negative cyclic homology.  相似文献

In this work, we study the special properties of the equivariant singular cohomology of a G-space X, where G is a totally disconnected, locally compact group. We prove that any short exact sequence of coefficient systems for G, over a ring R, gives a long exact sequence of the associated equivariant singular cohomology modules. We establish the relationship between the ordinary singular cohomology modules and the equivariant singular cohomology modules with the natural contravariant coefficient system. Moreover, under some conditions, we give an isomorphism of the equivariant singular cohomology modules of the G-space X onto the ordinary singular cohomology modules of the orbit space X/G.  相似文献

We show that Haefliger's cohomology for étale groupoids, Moore's cohomology for locally compact groups and the Brauer group of a locally compact groupoid are all particular cases of sheaf (or Cech) cohomology for topological simplicial spaces.

We study the restriction to smaller subgroups, of cohomology classes on arithmetic groups (possibly after moving the class by Hecke correspondences), especially in the context of first cohomology of arithmetic groups. We obtain vanishing results for the first cohomology of cocompact arithmetic lattices in SU(n,1) which arise from hermitian forms over division algebras D of degree p 2, p an odd prime, equipped with an involution of the second kind. We show that it is not possible for a ‘naive’ restriction of cohomology to be injective in general. We also establish that the restriction map is injective at the level of first cohomology for non co-compact lattices, extending a result of Raghunathan and Venkataramana for co-compact lattices. We consider Lagrangian Floer cohomology for a pair of Lagrangian submanifolds in a symplectic manifold M. Suppose that M carries a symplectic involution, which preserves both submanifolds. Under various topological hypotheses, we prove a localization theorem for Floer cohomology, which implies a Smith-type inequality for the Floer cohomology groups in M and its fixed point set. Two applications to symplectic Khovanov cohomology are included.  相似文献

We discuss the image of a natural homomorphism from the bounded cohomology to the ordinary cohomology of a manifold. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a Haken 3-manifold M to have the property that any class in the nth cohomology of M is bounded if n > 1.The first author was partially supported by JSPS.  相似文献

We study the André–Quillen cohomology with coefficients of an algebra over an operad. Using resolutions of algebras coming from the Koszul duality theory, we make this cohomology theory explicit and we give a Lie theoretic interpretation. For which operads is the associated André–Quillen cohomology equal to an Ext-functor? We give several criteria, based on the cotangent complex, to characterize this property. We apply it to homotopy algebras, which gives a new homotopy stable property for algebras over cofibrant operads.  相似文献

The integer cohomology algebra of the complement of a complex subspace arrangement with geometric intersection lattice is completely determined by the combinatorial data of the arrangement. We give a combinatorial presentation of the cohomology algebra in the spirit of the Orlik-Solomon result on the cohomology algebras of complex hyperplane arrangements. Our methods are elementary: we work with simplicial models for the complements that are induced by combinatorial stratifications of complex space. We describe simplicial cochains that generate the cohomology. Among them we distinguish a linear basis, study cup product multiplication, and derive an algebra presentation in terms of generators and relations.

We show that the ordinary cohomology functor $\Lambda \mapsto {\operatorname{Ext}} ^* _\Lambda (k,k)$ from the category of augmented k-algebras to itself exchanges coproducts and products, then that Hochschild cohomology is close to sending coproducts to products if the factors are self-injective. We identify the multiplicative structure of the Hochschild cohomology of a product, modulo a certain ideal, in terms of the cohomology of the factors.  相似文献
