We prove the monotonicity of nonnegative bounded solutions of the Dirichlet problem for the quasilinear elliptic equation ?Δpu = f(u), p ≥ 3, in a half-space. This assertion implies new results on the nonexistence of solutions for the case in which f(u) = uq with appropriate values of q.  相似文献

The equation ?2u/?t?x + up?u/?x = uq describing a nonstationary process in semiconductors, with parameters p and q that are a nonnegative integer and a positive integer, respectively, and satisfy p + q ≥ 2, is considered in the half-plane (x, t) ∈ ? × (0,∞). All in all, fourteen families of its exact solutions are constructed for various parameter values, and qualitative properties of these solutions are noted. For semilinear elliptic equations ?Δu = λ|u| p?2 u?|u| q?2 u, boundary value problems in bounded and unbounded domains are considered. In the plane of exponents p × q, the so-called curves of critical exponents are defined that divide this plane into domains with qualitatively different properties of the boundary value problems and the corresponding parabolic equations. New solvability conditions for boundary value problems, conditions for the stability and instability of stationary solutions, and conditions for the existence of global solutions to parabolic equations are found.  相似文献

We show that there exist saddle solutions of the nonlinear elliptic equation involving the p-Laplacian, p > 2, -Δ p u = f(u) in R2m for all dimensions satisfying 2mp, by using sub-supersolution method. The existence of saddle solutions of the above problem was known only in dimensions 2m ≥ 2p.  相似文献

Based on the eigensystem {λjj} of -Δ, the multiple solutions for nonlinear problem Δu + f(u) = 0 in Ω,u = 0 on ?Ω are approximated. A new search-extension method (SEM), which consists of three steps in three level subspaces, is proposed. Numerical simulations for several typical nonlinear cases, i.e. f(u) = u 3, u 2, (u - p), u 2(u 2 - p), are completed and some conjectures are presented.  相似文献

We study the hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin (HDG) method for the spatial discretization of time fractional diffusion models with Caputo derivative of order 0 < α < 1. For each time t ∈ [0, T], when the HDG approximations are taken to be piecewise polynomials of degree k ≥ 0 on the spatial domain Ω, the approximations to the exact solution u in the L (0, T; L 2(Ω))-norm and to ?u in the \(L_{\infty }(0, \textit {T}; \mathbf {L}_{2}({\Omega }))\)-norm are proven to converge with the rate h k+1 provided that u is sufficiently regular, where h is the maximum diameter of the elements of the mesh. Moreover, for k ≥ 1, we obtain a superconvergence result which allows us to compute, in an elementwise manner, a new approximation for u converging with a rate h k+2 (ignoring the logarithmic factor), for quasi-uniform spatial meshes. Numerical experiments validating the theoretical results are displayed.  相似文献

We consider the nonlinear Schr¨odinger equation-?u +(λa(x) + 1)u = |u|~(p-1) u on a locally finite graph G =(V, E). We prove via the Nehari method that if a(x) satisfies certain assumptions, for any λ 1, the equation admits a ground state solution uλ. Moreover, as λ→∞, the solution uλconverges to a solution of the Dirichlet problem-?u + u = |u|~(p-1) u which is defined on the potential well ?. We also provide a numerical experiment which solves the equation on a finite graph to illustrate our results.  相似文献

We investigate the problem (P λ) ?Δu = λb(x)|u| q?2 u + a(x)|u| p?2 u in Ω, ?u/?n = 0 on ?Ω, where Ω is a bounded smooth domain in R N (N ≥ 2), 1 < q < 2 < p, λ ∈ R, and a, b\({C^\alpha }\left( {\overline \Omega } \right)\) with 0 < α < 1. Under certain indefinite type conditions on a and b, we prove the existence of two nontrivial nonnegative solutions for small |λ|. We then characterize the asymptotic profiles of these solutions as λ → 0, which in some cases implies the positivity and ordering of these solutions. In addition, this asymptotic analysis suggests the existence of a loop type component in the non-negative solutions set. We prove the existence of such a component in certain cases, via a bifurcation and a topological analysis of a regularized version of (P λ).  相似文献

This paper studies heat equation with variable exponent u t = Δu + up(x) + u q in ? N × (0, T), where p(x) is a nonnegative continuous, bounded function, 0 < p? = inf p(x) ≤ p(x) ≤ sup p(x) = p+. It is easy to understand for the problem that all nontrivial nonnegative solutions must be global if and only if max {p+, q} ≤ 1. Based on the interaction between the two sources with fixed and variable exponents in the model, some Fujita type conditions are determined that that all nontrivial nonnegative solutions blow up in finite time if 0 < q ≤ 1 with p+ > 1, or 1 < q < 1 + \(\frac{2}{N}\). In addition, if q > 1 + \(\frac{2}{N}\), then (i) all solutions blow up in finite time with 0 < p?p+ ≤ 1 + \(\frac{2}{N}\); (ii) there are both global and nonglobal solutions for p? > 1 + \(\frac{2}{N}\); and (iii) there are functions p(x) such that all solutions blow up in finite time, and also functions p(x) such that the problem possesses global solutions when p? < 1 + \(\frac{2}{N}\) < p+.  相似文献

We study the existence, uniqueness, and asymptotic behavior of blow-up solutions for a general quasilinear elliptic equation of the type ?Δ p u = a(x)u m ?b(x)f(u) with p >  1 and 0 <  mp?1. The main technical tool is a new comparison principle that enables us to extend arguments for semilinear equations to quasilinear ones. Indeed, this paper is an attempt to generalize all available results for the semilinear case with p =  2 to the quasilinear case with p >  1.  相似文献

The K(f m , g n ) equation is studied, which generalizes the modified Korteweg–de Vries equation K(u3, u1) and the Rosenau–Hyman equation K(u m , u n ) to other dependences of nonlinearity and dispersion on the solution. The considered functions f(u) and g(u) can be linear or can have the form of a smoothed step. It is found numerically that, depending on the form of nonlinearity and dispersion, the given equation has compacton and kovaton solutions, Riemann-wave solutions, and oscillating wave packets of two types. It is shown that the interaction between solutions of all found types occurs with the preservation of their parameters.  相似文献

We study the accuracy of the classic algorithm for inverting a complex number given by its real and imaginary parts as floating-point numbers. Our analyses are done in binary floating-point arithmetic, with an unbounded exponent range and in precision p; we also assume that the basic arithmetic operations (+, ?, ×, /) are rounded to nearest, so that the roundoff unit is u = 2?p. We bound the largest relative error in the computed inverse either in the componentwise or in the normwise sense. We prove the componentwise relative error bound 3u for the complex inversion algorithm (assuming p ≥ 4), and we show that this bound is asymptotically optimal (as p) when p is even, and sharp when using one of the basic IEEE 754 binary formats with an odd precision (p = 53, 113). This componentwise bound obviously leads to the same bound 3u for the normwise relative error. However, we prove that the smaller bound 2.707131u holds (assuming p ≥ 24) for the normwise relative error, and we illustrate the sharpness of this bound for the basic IEEE 754 binary formats (p = 24,53,113) using numerical examples.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the approximation of solutions of the homogeneous Helmholtz equation Δu + ω 2 u = 0 by linear combinations of plane waves with different directions. We combine approximation estimates for homogeneous Helmholtz solutions by generalized harmonic polynomials, obtained from Vekua’s theory, with estimates for the approximation of generalized harmonic polynomials by plane waves. The latter is the focus of this paper. We establish best approximation error estimates in Sobolev norms, which are explicit in terms of the degree of the generalized polynomial to be approximated, the domain size, and the number of plane waves used in the approximations.  相似文献
