The flow past a semi-cylinder with a trailing wake region is considered. In the absence of gravity the only known high Reynolds number solutions have tangential separation from the body and a cusped shape at the back of the wake. This flow can be a simple model for several situations, including the classical approximation of a constant pressure wake and the flow past an object with a region of trapped fluid of different density (or an air cavity) attached on the downstream side. Here we relax the assumption of high flow speeds to examine the effects of gravity. It is shown that there are situations in which a stagnation point can form either on the body or at the tail of the wake and that there is a minimum velocity beneath which a cavity will not form. Non-uniqueness in the parameter space is found in certain cases.  相似文献

The supersonic flow past a concave double wedge is discussed. Because of the interaction between the outer shock attached at the head of the wedge and the inner shock issued from the concave corner, there is a rarefaction wave issued from the intersection of the outer and inner shock. The rarefaction wave is reflected by the outer shock and the wedge infinitely, while the outer shock is also bent due to interaction. The global existence of the solution is proved under the assumptions that the outer shock is weak and the difference of two slopes of the double wedge is small. Meanwhile, a rigorous proof of the asymptotic behavior of the global solution is given. The property is often ap plied to numerical computation. This paper deals with the slow-flow problem of an incompressible, viscous, electrically conducting fluid past a circular cylinder in an aligned magnetic field. The solutions for the velocity and magnetic fields are sought by the method of matched asymptotic expansions under the assumptions:R, R mM1, such thatR=O(R m). The influence ofR andR m on this solution is studied toO(R/(logM)2) andO(R/logM), respectively.
Zusammenfassung Die Arbeit behandelt das Problem des langsamen Fliessens einer nicht zusammendrückbaren zähen elektrisch leitenden Flüssigkeit, die um einen Kreiszylinder mit parallel zur Strömung gerichtetem Magnetfeld strömt. Die Lösungen für die Geschwindigkeit und das Magnetfeld werden gefunden durch die Methode der angepassten asymptotischen Entwicklungen unter den VoraussetzungenR, R mM1, so dassR=O(R m). Der Einfluss vonR undR m auf diese Lösungen wird fürO(R/(logM)2) bzw.O(R m /logM) untersucht.

This study deals with boundary layer flow along the entire length of a stationary semi-infinite cylinder under a steady, accelerated free-stream. Considering flow at reduced dimensions, the no-slip boundary condition is replaced with a Navier boundary condition. Asymptotic series solutions are obtained for the shear stress coefficient in terms of the Bingham number that corresponds to prescribed values of both the slip coefficient and the index of acceleration. By investigating motion at small and large axial distances, the series solutions are presented. For flow in the intermediate distances, exact and interpolated numerical solutions are obtained. Using these results, the shear stress along the entire cylinder wall is evaluated in terms of the parameters of acceleration and slip.  相似文献

Oseen’ approximations are used to study the slow motion of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid past a circular cylinder in the presence of a uniform aligned magnetic field. Using series truncation method, the analytical solutions for the first three terms in the Fourier sine series expansion of the stream function are obtained. Numerical values of the tangential drag for different values of magnetic interaction parameter and viscous Reynolds number are calculated.  相似文献

Two-dimensional supersonic laminar ideal gas flows past a regular flat lattice of identical circular cylinders lying in a plane perpendicular to the free-stream velocity are numerically simulated. The flows are computed by applying a multiblock numerical technique with local boundary-fitted curvilinear grids that have finite regions overlapping the global rectangular grid covering the entire computational domain. Viscous boundary layers are resolved on the local grids by applying the Navier–Stokes equations, while the aerodynamic interference of shock wave structures occurring between the lattice elements is described by the Euler equations. In the overlapping grid regions, the functions are interpolated to the grid interfaces. The regimes of supersonic lattice flow are classified. The parameter ranges in which the steady flow around the lattice is not unique are detected, and the mechanisms of hysteresis phenomena are examined.  相似文献

The model of a two-dimensional fluid flow past a cylinder is a relatively simple problem with a strong impact in many applied fields, such as aerodynamics or chemical sciences, although most of the involved physical mechanisms are not yet well known. This paper analyzes the fluid flow past a cylinder in a laminar regime with Reynolds number, Re, around 200, where two vortices appear behind the cylinder, by using an appropriate time-dependent stream function and applying non-linear dynamics techniques. The goal of the paper is to analyze under which circumstances the chaoticity in the wake of the cylinder might be modified, or even suppressed. And this has been achieved with the help of some indicators of the complexity of the trajectories for the cases of a rotating cylinder and an oscillating cylinder.  相似文献

Summary In the present paper the flow past a circular cylinder in a uniformly rotating frame is investigated. A linear solution is given for the vertical shear layers surrounding the cylinder. The non-linear modifications of theE 1/4 layer are considered and a criterion for separation obtained. The theoretical result is compared with experiment.

Une solution linéaire est presentée pour les couches verticales qui entourent le cylindre. Les modifications non-linéaires de la coucheE 1/4 sont examinés et un critérium pour séparation est obtenu. Le résultat théorique est comparé avec l'experimentation.

The global stability analysis of the two–dimensional incompressible unsteady flow past a circular clinder cascade is studied using linear stability analysis. A new numerical technique is used to find the value of critical Reynolds number that causes the flow to undergo Hopf bifurcation. The present paper focuses on the analysis of two- and three-dimensional flow past a circular cylinder in different laminar flow regimes. In this simulation, an implicit pressure-based finite volume method is used for time-accurate computation of incompressible flow using second order accurate convective flux discretisation schemes. The computation results are validated against measurement data for mean surface pressure, skin friction coefficients, the size and strength of the recirculating wake for the steady flow regime and also for the Strouhal frequency of vortex shedding and the mean and RMS amplitude of the fluctuating aerodynamic coefficients for the unsteady periodic flow regime. The complex three dimensional flow structure of the cylinder wake is also reasonably captured by the present prediction procedure.  相似文献

The effects of dissociation of air on hypersonic flow past a circular cylinder at zero angle of incidence are considered under the assumptions that the shock wave is in the shape of a circular cylinder, the density ratio across the shock is constant, the flow behind the shock is at constant density and dissociation occurs only behind the shock wave. In the present paper, the velocity, pressure and drag coefficients, vorticity, shock detachment distance, stagnation point velocity gradient and sonic points on the shock and the surface have been obtained in the presence of dissociation. The results have been compared with the corresponding results obtained in the case when dissociation dose not occur and the corresponding results in the case of the sphere in the presence of dissociation.  相似文献

High Reynolds-number flow over a rotating cylinder is investigated by two-dimensional numerical computations. The Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations are solved via the finite-volume method and they are closed by a modified k-ε turbulence model. The spin ratio a is defined as the ratio between the cylinder’s circumferential speed velocity to the free-stream varies from 2 to 8. The flow is examined at Reynolds numbers from 5 × 105 to 5 × 106, which is considered to be an interesting range for industrial flows. Available experimental and numerical data were used to verify the validity of the implemented procedure.The results revealed stabilization of the acting forces at high spin rates, thus indicating a flowfield with suppressed vortex-shedding activity, as it is expected, in accordance with theoretical considerations in previous studies. Load coefficients were found to be inversely proportional to the Reynolds number for most of the examined rotational rates.  相似文献

In the paper two models for the potential flow past a cylinder with porous or perforated surface are reduced to nonlinear Riemann-Hilbert problems for the complex velocity function and general existence and uniqueness theorems for the solution of the problems are derived. Further the problems are reduced to nonlinear singular integral equations of Hilbert type whose solvability is investigated by means of the Schauder and Banach fixed point theorem.  相似文献
