For the numerical evaluation of Cauchy principal value integrals of the form f(x)(x - λ) -1dx withλ ∈ (-1,1)and f ∈ C1[-1,1], we investigate the quadrature formula Q(n+1)Spl1[·;λ] obtained by replacing the integrand function f by its piecewise linear interpolant at an equidistant set of nodes as proposed by Rabinoivitz (Math. Comp. , 51:741 - 747,1988). We give upper bounds for the Peano - type error constantsfor s∈ {1,2}. These are the best possible constants in inequalities of the typeFurthermore, we prove that our upper bounds are asymptotically sharp.  相似文献

Let X i denote free identically-distributed random variables. This paper investigates how the norm of products behaves as n approaches infinity. In addition, for positive X i it studies the asymptotic behavior of the norm of where denotes the symmetric product of two positive operators: . It is proved that if EX i = 1, then is between and c 2 n for certain constant c 1 and c 2. For it is proved that the limit of exists and equals Finally, if π is a cyclic representation of the algebra generated by X i , and if ξ is a cyclic vector, then for all n. These results are significantly different from analogous results for commuting random variables.  相似文献

We study the rate of uniform approximation by Nörlund means of the rectangular partial sums of double Fourier series of continuous functionsf(x, y), 2π-periodic in each variable. The results are given in terms of the modulus of symmetric smoothness defined by $$\begin{gathered} \omega _2 \left( {f,\delta _1 ,\delta _2 } \right) = \mathop {\sup }\limits_{x,y} \mathop {\sup }\limits_{\left| u \right| \leqslant \delta _1 ,\left| v \right| \leqslant \delta _2 } \left| {f\left( {x + u,y + v} \right)} \right. + f\left( {x + u,y - v} \right) + f\left( {x - u,y + v} \right) \hfill \\ + \left. {f\left( {x - u,y - v} \right) + 4f\left( {x,y} \right)} \right| for \delta _1 ,\delta _2 \geqslant 0. \hfill \\ \end{gathered} $$ As a special case we obtain the rate of uniform approximation to functionsf(x,y) in Lip({α, β}), the Lipschitz class, and inZ({α, β}), the Zygmund class of ordersα andβ, 0<α,β ≤ l, as well as the rate of uniform approximation to the conjugate functions \(\tilde f^{(1,0)} (x,y), \tilde f^{(0,1)} (x,y)\) and \(\tilde f^{(1,1)} (x,y)\) .  相似文献

The plasma problem studied is: given R+ find (, d, u) R ?R ? H1() such that Let 1 < 2 be the first two eigenvalues of the associatedlinear eigenvalue problem: find $$\left(\lambda ,\phi \right)\in\mathrm{R;}\times {\hbox{ H }}_{0}^{1}\left(\Omega \right)$$such that For 0(0,2) it is well known that there exists a unique solution(0, d0, u0) to the above problem. We show that the standard continuous piecewise linear Galerkinfinite-element approximatinon $$\left({\lambda }_{0},{\hbox{d }}_{0}^{k},{u}_{0}^{h}\right)$$, for 0(0,2), converges atthe optimal rate in the H1, L2, and L norms as h, the mesh length, tends to 0. In addition, we show that dist (, h)Ch2 ln 1/h,where $${\Gamma }^{\left(h\right)}=\left\{x\in \Omega :{u}_{0}^{\left(h\right)}\left(x\right)=0\right\}$$.Finally we consider a more practical approximation involvingnumerical integration.  相似文献

We prove an estimate of Carleman type for the one dimensional heat equation $$ u_t - \left( {a\left( x \right)u_x } \right)_x + c\left( {t,x} \right)u = h\left( {t,x} \right),\quad \left( {t,x} \right) \in \left( {0,T} \right) \times \left( {0,1} \right), $$ where a(·) is degenerate at 0. Such an estimate is derived for a special pseudo-convex weight function related to the degeneracy rate of a(·). Then, we study the null controllability on [0, 1] of the semilinear degenerate parabolic equation $$ u_t - \left( {a\left( x \right)u_x } \right)_x + f\left( {t,x,u} \right) = h\left( {t,x} \right)\chi _\omega \left( x \right), $$ where (t, x) ∈(0, T) × (0, 1), ω=(α, β) ⊂⊂ [0, 1], and f is locally Lipschitz with respect to u. In this paper we establish the following estimate:
$$\omega \left( {\left\{ {x \in {\mathbb{R}^n}:\left| {\left[ {b,T} \right]f\left( x \right)} \right| > \lambda } \right\}} \right) \leqslant \frac{{{c_T}}}{{{\varepsilon ^2}}}\int_{{\mathbb{R}^n}} {\Phi \left( {{{\left\| b \right\|}_{BMO}}\frac{{\left| {f\left( x \right)} \right|}}{\lambda }} \right){M_{L{{\left( {\log L} \right)}^{1 + \varepsilon }}}}} \omega \left( x \right)dx$$
where ω ≥ 0, 0 < ε < 1 and Φ(t) = t(1 + log+(t)). This inequality relies upon the following sharp L p estimate:
$${\left\| {\left[ {b,T} \right]f} \right\|_{{L^p}\left( \omega \right)}} \leqslant {c_T}{\left( {p'} \right)^2}{p^2}{\left( {\frac{{p - 1}}{\delta }} \right)^{\frac{1}{{p'}}}}{\left\| b \right\|_{BMO}}{\left\| f \right\|_{{L^p}\left( {{M_{L{{\left( {{{\log }_L}} \right)}^{2p - 1 + {\delta ^\omega }}}}}} \right)}}$$
where 1 < p < ∞, ω ≥ 0 and 0 < δ < 1. As a consequence we recover the following estimate essentially contained in [18]:
$$\omega \left( {\left\{ {x \in {\mathbb{R}^n}:\left| {\left[ {b,T} \right]f\left( x \right)} \right| > \lambda } \right\}} \right) \leqslant {c_T}{\left[ \omega \right]_{{A_\infty }}}{\left( {1 + {{\log }^ + }{{\left[ \omega \right]}_{{A_\infty }}}} \right)^2}\int_{{\mathbb{R}^n}} {\Phi \left( {{{\left\| b \right\|}_{BMO}}\frac{{\left| {f\left( x \right)} \right|}}{\lambda }} \right)M} \omega \left( x \right)dx.$$
We also obtain the analogue estimates for symbol-multilinear commutators for a wider class of symbols.

LetQ(x) denote a quadratic form over the rational integers in four variables (x=(x1,...,x4)). ThenQ is representable as a symmetric matrix. Assume this matrix to be non-singular modp(p≠2 prime); then the “inverse” quadratic formQ ?1 modp can be defined. Letf:?4→? be defined such that the Fourier transformf exists and the sum $$\sum\limits_{x \in \mathbb{Z}^4 } {f(c x), c \in \mathbb{R}, c \ne 0} $$ is convergent. Furthermore, letm=p 1...p k be the product ofk distinct primes withm>1, 2×m; let $$\varepsilon = \prod\limits_{i = 1}^k {\left( {\frac{{\det Q}}{{p_i }}} \right)} \ne 0$$ for the Legendre symbol $$\left( {\frac{ \cdot }{p}} \right)$$ ; define $$B_i (Q,x) = \left\{ {\begin{array}{*{20}c} {1 for Q(x) \equiv 0\bmod p_i } \\ , \\ {0 for Q(x)\not \equiv 0\bmod p_i } \\ \end{array} } \right.$$ and forr∈?,r>0, $$F(Q,f,r) = \sum\limits_{x \in \mathbb{Z}^4 } {\left( {\prod\limits_{i = 1}^k {\left( {B_i (Q,x) - \frac{1}{{p_i }}} \right)} } \right)f(r^{ - {1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 2}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 2}} x)} $$ Then we have $$F(Q,f,m) = \varepsilon F(Q^{ - 1} ,\hat f,m)$$   相似文献

Let an≥0 and F(u)∈C [0,1], Sikkema constructed polynomials: , ifα n ≡0, then Bn (0, F, x) are Bernstein polynomials. Let , we constructe new polynomials in this paper: Q n (k) (α n ,f(t))=d k /dx k B n+k (α n ,F k (u),x), which are called Sikkema-Kantorovic polynomials of order k. Ifα n ≡0, k=1, then Qn (1) (0, f(t), x) are Kantorovič polynomials Pn(f). Ifα n =0, k=2, then Qn (2), (0, f(t), x) are Kantorovič polynomials of second order (see Nagel). Let L denote the space of measurable 1-periodic essentially bounded functionsf(x) with ∥f∥=vrai sup ¦f(x)¦,S k (f, x) thek-th partial sum of the Walsh-Fourier series off(x),L k thek-th Lebesgue constant. The following theorem is proved. Theorem. Letλ={λ K } be a sequence of nonnegative numbers, $$\left\| \lambda \right\|_1 = \mathop \sum \limits_{k = 1}^\infty \lambda _k< \infty ,\left\| \lambda \right\|_2 = (\mathop \sum \limits_{k = 1}^\infty \lambda _k^2 )^{1/2} ,m = log[(\left\| \lambda \right\|_1 /\left\| \lambda \right\|_2 )]$$ .Then for an arbitrary function f∈L the following inequalities hold true $$\begin{gathered} \left\| {\mathop \sum \limits_{k = 1}^\infty \lambda _k \left| {S_k (f,x)} \right|} \right\| \leqq \mathop \sum \limits_{k = 1}^\infty \lambda _k (L_{[k2 - 2m]} + c)\left\| f \right\|, \hfill \\ \hfill \\ \mathop \sum \limits_{k = 1}^\infty \lambda _k \left\| {S_k (f)} \right\| \leqq \mathop \sum \limits_{k = 1}^\infty \lambda _k (L_{[k2 - m]} + c)\left\| f \right\| \hfill \\ \end{gathered} $$ , where[y] denotes integral part of a number y>0 and c is an absolute constant. A corollary of the above theorem is that for each functionfεL the Lebesgue estimate can be refined for a certain sequence of indices, while the growth order of Lebesgue constants along that sequence can be arbitrarily close to the logarithmic one. “In the mean”, however, the Lebesgue estimate is exact. A further corollary deals with strong summability.  相似文献
