For the determination of the transmission loss of samples in an impedance tube, two different approaches is found in the literature, one based on determining the full transfer matrix (TM method) of the acoustic element, the other based on the wavefield decomposition theory (WD method). In this paper both methods are implemented and measured results are compared using samples which includes different types of perforated plates, also combined with porous material. Measurements are conducted in a tube of square cross section with dimensions 200 × 200 mm, thereby limiting the workable frequency range upwards to approximately 850 Hz. The main purpose of the paper is, however, to compare measured results with predictions using the transfer matrix method. For a bare plate with cylindrical apertures two models are compared as well; a “classical” one and another based on modeling the perforated plate as a porous material having a rigid frame. As for these transmission loss measurements, the two measurement approaches turn out to give identical results within the numerical accuracy. The fit between measured and predicted results are reasonably good with a maximum deviation mostly within 2 dB.  相似文献

Perforated panel structures have a wide potential in underwater applications. However, up to now there has been little related research. The acoustic impedance of an underwater perforated panel is obtained based on the theories for air perforated panel sound absorption. In this paper sound transmission characteristics of underwater perforated panel structures are theoretically analyzed by the transfer matrix method. A formula for normal incidence sound transmission coefficients is given. The main factors that have effects on the acoustic transmission coefficient are analyzed by numerical simulations. The perforated panel structures made by ourselves are tested in a standing-wave tube by the four-sensor transfer-function method. The experimental results are well in accord with the results obtained by the numerical method, which proves that the theoretical analysis is correct. This paper has provided theoretical and experimental bases for the design of underwater perforated panel structures.  相似文献

Commercial automotive mufflers are often too complex to be broken into a cascade of one-dimensional elements with predetermined transfer matrices. The one-dimensional (1-D) scheme presented in this paper is based on an algorithm that uses user-friendly visual volume elements along with the theory of transfer matrix based muffler analysis. This work attempts to exploit the speed of the one-dimensional analysis with the flexibility, generality and user-friendliness of three-dimensional analysis using geometric modeling. A code based on the developed algorithm has been employed to demonstrate the generality of the proposed method in analyzing commercial mufflers by considering three very diverse classes of mufflers with different kinds of combinations of reactive, perforated and absorptive elements. Though the examples used in the paper are not very complex for they are meant to be just representative cases of certain classes of mufflers, yet the algorithm can handle a large domain of commercial mufflers of high degree of complexity. Results from the present algorithm have been validated through comparisons with both the analytical (plane wave based) and the more general, three-dimensional FEM based results. The forte of the proposed method is its power to construct the system matrix consistent with the boundary conditions from the geometrical model to evaluate the four-pole parameters of the entire muffler and thence its transmission loss, etc. Thus, the algorithm can be used in conjunction with the transfer matrix based muffler programs to analyze the entire exhaust system of an automobile.  相似文献

Experiments have been conducted, and correlations are developed for the pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient for the tube and shell sides of a helical coil heat exchanger. In the tube side, the laminar friction factor and Nusselt numbers are represented as functions of Red/D, whereas in turbulent flow the results are correlated with Re·(d/D)2. The pressure drop and heat transfer values for the shell side are found to follow the classical Blasius and Dittus-Boelter type relations, while a strong dependence on the coil to tube diameter ratio is detected. The performance of the exchanger has been tested not only as simulated experimental exchanger but also as a waste heat recovery device for a 60 HP gas turbine. Excellent corroboration of the effectiveness-NTU relation has been observed between the simulation and in situ experiments.  相似文献

This paper presents a numerical method for the optimization of the sequencing of solid panels, perforated panels and air gaps and their respective thickness for maximizing sound transmission loss and/or absorption. For the optimization, a method based on the topology optimization formulation is proposed. It is difficult to employ only the commonly-used material interpolation technique because the involved layers exhibit fundamentally different acoustic behavior. Thus, an optimization method formulation using a so-called unified transfer matrix is newly proposed. The key idea is to form elements of the transfer matrix such that interpolated elements by the layer design variables can be those of air, perforated and solid panel layers. The problem related to the interpolation is addressed and bench mark-type problems such as sound transmission or absorption maximization problems are solved to check the efficiency of the developed method.  相似文献

We propose a new Monte Carlo method for calculating eigenvalues of transfer matrices leading to free energies and to correlation lengths of classical and quantum many-body systems. Generally, this method can be applied to the calculation of the maximum eigenvalue of a nonnegative matrix  such that all the matrix elements of Âk are strictly positive for an integerk. This method is based on a new representation of the maximum eigenvalue of the matrix  as the thermal average of a certain observable of a many-body system. Therefore one can easily calculate the maximum eigenvalue of a transfer matrix leading to the free energy in the standard Monte Carlo simulations, such as the Metropolis algorithm. As test cases, we calculate the free energies of the square-lattice Ising model and of the spin-1/2XY Heisenberg chain. We also prove two useful theorems on the ergodicity in quantum Monte Carlo algorithms, or more generally, on the ergodicity of Monte Carlo algorithms using our new representation of the maximum eigenvalue of the matrixÂ.  相似文献

Transfer matrices are commonly considered in the numerical modelling of the acoustic behaviour associated with exhaust devices in the breathing system of internal combustion engines, such as catalytic converters, particulate filters, perforated mufflers and charge air coolers. In a multidimensional finite element approach, a transfer matrix provides a relationship between the acoustic fields of the nodes located at both sides of a particular region. This approach can be useful, for example, when one-dimensional propagation takes place within the region substituted by the transfer matrix. As shown in recent investigations, the sound attenuation of catalytic converters can be properly predicted if the monolith is replaced by a plane wave four-pole matrix. The finite element discretization is retained for the inlet/outlet and tapered ducts, where multidimensional acoustic fields can exist. In this case, only plane waves are present within the capillary ducts, and three-dimensional propagation is possible in the rest of the catalyst subcomponents. Also, in the acoustic modelling of perforated mufflers using the finite element method, the central passage can be replaced by a transfer matrix relating the pressure difference between both sides of the perforated surface with the acoustic velocity through the perforations. The approaches in the literature that accommodate transfer matrices and finite element models consider conforming meshes at connecting interfaces, therefore leading to a straightforward evaluation of the coupling integrals. With a view to gaining flexibility during the mesh generation process, it is worth developing a more general procedure. This has to be valid for the connection of acoustic subdomains by transfer matrices when the discretizations are nonconforming at the connecting interfaces. In this work, an integration algorithm similar to those considered in the mortar finite element method, is implemented for nonmatching grids in combination with acoustic transfer matrices. A number of numerical test problems related to some relevant exhaust devices are then presented to assess the accuracy and convergence performance of the proposed procedure.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to propose a method to predict the onset conditions of the thermoacoustic instability for various thermoacoustic engines. As an accurate modeling of the heat exchangers and the stack submitted to a temperature gradient is a difficult task, an experimental approach for the characterization of the amplifying properties of the thermoacoustic core is proposed. An experimental apparatus is presented which allows to measure the transfer matrix of a thermoacoustic core under various heating conditions by means of a four-microphone method. An analytical model for the prediction of the onset conditions from this measured transfer matrix is developed. The experimental data are introduced in the model and theoretical predictions of the onset conditions are compared with those actually observed in standing-wave and traveling-wave engines. The results show good agreement between predictions from the model and experiments.  相似文献

The advanced hybrid particulate collector (AHPC) is an efficient hybrid system that combines the electrostatic precipitator (ESP) and the bag filter in a unique approach. In this study, an unstructured finite volume method (FVM) is used to compute the three-dimensional distributions of the electric field and the space charge density in an AHPC setup for two cases: without the perforated plate and with the perforated plate. The current–voltage characteristics of the AHPC setup are measured. The current on the bag plate has a mean value 7.82 μA without the perforated plate and 0.08 μA with the perforated plate for the measured voltages. The total currents are used to calculate the charge density at the corona wire according to the Peek's formula. For both cases, the numerical predictions of the current–voltage relations of the plates of the model AHPC agree well with the measurements. When the AHPC has the perforated plate, numerical results show that the electric field and space charge density distributions on the perforated plate have the same number of peaks corresponding to the holes. The electric field on the bag plate surface is lower than that of the top plate and the perforated plate. Though the bag plate has low current, its surface still has high space charge density. When the AHPC has no perforated plate, the electric field is higher than six times and the space charge density is higher than three times that of the case with the perforated plate on the bag plate surface.  相似文献

After demonstrating the isomorphic matrix representations of dual quaternions, Maxwell’s equations and the constitutive relations for electromagnetism are expressed in terms of dual quaternionic matrices. This paper considers the effective impedance that pertains as low frequency sound in a plain pipe radiates into a general perforated pipe of equal diameter. A previous theory that considered only the reactance is extended to also include resistance. Experimental measurements are made of the response of a Helmholtz resonator to an external sound field, where the neck of the Helmholtz resonator has both plain and perforated pipe sections. A complete theoretical model of this resonator allows for comparison between measured and predicted results of transfer functions from the external to internal sound fields of the resonator. The Nyquist plot of the admittance transfer function is extremely sensitive to the small resistance values, whereas the pressure transfer function gives more accurate results for resonant frequency and hence reactance than the usual method. In particular the results for resistance are so sensitive that it becomes possible to infer which of the current models for aperture resistance within the perforate is the most appropriate.  相似文献

In this study, the thermal performance of perforated finned heat exchangers with angle of rotation θ was experimentally investigated. Six-millimeter-diameter holes that were opened on each circular fin on a heating tube have a potential to reduce the thickness of the boundary layer that is formed on the circular fins placed on the heating tube, thus increasing heat transfer through convection in this area. The experiments were carried out at six different angular locations to determine the best angular location. In addition, a perforated finned heater was compared with an imperforate finned heater. For the finned heater at 60°, the effectiveness is 18% higher and the pressure drop is 1.16% lower than other angular positions. In this respect, it can be concluded that the best angular position is 60°. In addition, results show an increase in effectiveness with an increasing number of transfer units.  相似文献

An analysis is presented for the free vibration of a truncated conical shell with variable thickness by use of the transfer matrix approach. The applicability of the classical thin shell theory is assumed and the governing equations of vibration of a conical shell are written as a coupled set of first order differential equations by using the transfer matrix of the shell. Once the matrix has been determined by quadrature of the equations, the natural frequencies and the mode shapes of vibration are calculated numerically in terms of the elements of the matrix under any combination of boundary conditions at the edges. The method is applied to truncated conical shells with linearly, parabolically or exponentially varying thickness, and the effects of the semi-vertex angle, truncated length and varying thickness on the vibration are studied.  相似文献

An algebraic theory of dualities is developed based on the notion of bond algebras. It deals with classical and quantum dualities in a unified fashion explaining the precise connection between quantum dualities and the low temperature (strong-coupling)/high temperature (weak-coupling) dualities of classical statistical mechanics (or (Euclidean) path integrals). Its range of applications includes discrete lattice, continuum field and gauge theories. Dualities are revealed to be local, structure-preserving mappings between model-specific bond algebras that can be implemented as unitary transformations, or partial isometries if gauge symmetries are involved. This characterization permits us to search systematically for dualities and self-dualities in quantum models of arbitrary system size, dimensionality and complexity, and any classical model admitting a transfer matrix or operator representation. In particular, special dualities such as exact dimensional reduction, emergent and gauge-reducing dualities that solve gauge constraints can be easily understood in terms of mappings of bond algebras. As a new example, we show that the ?2 Higgs model is dual to the extended toric code model in any number of dimensions. Non-local transformations such as dual variables and Jordan–Wigner dictionaries are algorithmically derived from the local mappings of bond algebras. This permits us to establish a precise connection between quantum dual and classical disorder variables. Our bond-algebraic approach goes beyond the standard approach to classical dualities, and could help resolve the long-standing problem of obtaining duality transformations for lattice non-Abelian models. As an illustration, we present new dualities in any spatial dimension for the quantum Heisenberg model. Finally, we discuss various applications including location of phase boundaries, spectral behavior and, notably, we show how bond-algebraic dualities help constrain and realize fermionization in an arbitrary number of spatial dimensions.  相似文献

A bent‐crystal spectrometer based on the Rowland circle geometry has been installed and tested on the BM30b/FAME beamline at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility to improve its performances. The energy resolution of the spectrometer allows different kinds of measurements to be performed, including X‐ray absorption spectroscopy, resonant inelastic X‐ray scattering and X‐ray Raman scattering experiments. The simplicity of the experimental device makes it easily implemented on a classical X‐ray absorption beamline. This improvement in the fluorescence detection is of particular importance when the probed element is embedded in a complex and/or heavy matrix, for example in environmental sciences.  相似文献

: Multiple electron transfer processes are studied for Arq+n- Ne (q= 8, 9, 11, 12) collisions by using multi-parameter coincidence techniques. Various electron transfer processes are identified experimentally and the related cross-sections are measured. The dependence of transfer ionization cross-sections on the recoil charge states is compared with the results from the modified molecular classical overbarrier model. It is found that the modified model described the experimental results reasonably.  相似文献

We review several tests of the M(atrix)‐Model conjecture that asserts that the dynamics of M‐Theory, the eleven‐dimensional Ur‐theory containing all known string theories and also eleven‐dimensional supergravity in specific limits, is given by a quantum mechanical matrix model. In particular, scattering processes are analyzed both from the M(atrix)‐Model and from the supergravity perspective and the corresponding S‐matrix elements are compared. We find impressive agreement between these two theories as long as only classical supergravity is considered. If one includes also quantum effects on the supergravity side, the agreement does not persist. In addition to these calculations, the question of the existence of classical solutions to the M(atrix)‐Model equations of motion with momentum transfer is addressed and answered negatively.  相似文献

The idea that quantum randomness can be reduced to randomness of classical fields (fluctuating at time and space scales which are essentially finer than scales approachable in modern quantum experiments) is rather old. Various models have been proposed, e.g., stochastic electrodynamics or the semiclassical model. Recently a new model, so called prequantum classical statistical field theory (PCSFT), was developed. By this model a “quantum system” is just a label for (so to say “prequantum”) classical random field. Quantum averages can be represented as classical field averages. Correlations between observables on subsystems of a composite system can be as well represented as classical correlations. In particular, it can be done for entangled systems. Creation of such classical field representation demystifies quantum entanglement. In this paper we show that quantum dynamics (given by Schrödinger’s equation) of entangled systems can be represented as the stochastic dynamics of classical random fields. The “effect of entanglement” is produced by classical correlations which were present at the initial moment of time, cf. views of Albert Einstein.  相似文献
