For the principal eigenvalue with bilateral Dirichlet boundary condition, the so-called basic estimates were originally obtained by capacitary method. The Neumann case (i.e., the ergodic case) is even harder, and was deduced from the Dirichlet one plus a use of duality and the coupling method. In this paper, an alternative and more direct proof for the basic estimates is presented. The estimates in the Dirichlet case are then improved by a typical application of a recent variational formula. As a dual of the Dirichlet case, the refine problem for bilateral Neumann boundary condition is also treated. The paper starts with the continuous case (one-dimensional diffusions) and ends at the discrete one (birth-death processes). Possible generalization of the results studied here is discussed at the end of the paper.  相似文献

This article analyzes some stochastic processes that arise in a bulk single server queue with continuously operating server, state dependent compound Poisson input flow and general state dependent service process. The authors treat the queueing process as a semi–regenerative process and obtain the invariant probability measure and the transient distribution for the embedded Markov chain. The stationary probability measure for the queueing process with continuous time parameter is found by using semi-regenerative techniques. The authors also study the input and output processes and establish ergodic theorems for some functionals of these processes. The results are obtained in terms of the invariant probability measure for the embedded process and the stationary measure for the queueing process with continuous time parameter  相似文献

Our purpose is to study an ergodic linear equation associated to diffusion processes with jumps in the whole space. This integro-differential equation plays a fundamental role in ergodic control problems of second order Markov processes. The key result is to prove the existence and uniqueness of an invariant density function for a jump diffusion, whose lower order coefficients are only Borel measurable. Based on this invariant probability, existence and uniqueness (up to an additive constant) of solutions to the ergodic linear equation are established. Accepted 24 February 1998  相似文献

Using the theory of Dirichlet forms, we prove the existence of a distribution-valued diffusion process such that the Nelson measure of a field with a bounded interaction density is its invariant probability measure. A Langevin equation in mathematically correct form is formulated which is satisfied by the process. Certain discrete-time Markov processes on locally compact metricspaces which arise from graph-directed constructions of fractalsets with place-dependent probabilities are studied. Such systemsnaturally extend finite Markov chains and inherit some of theirproperties. It is shown that the Markov operator defined bysuch a system has a unique invariant probability measure inthe irreducible case and an attractive probability measure inthe aperiodic case if the vertex sets form an open partitionof the state space, the restrictions of the probability functionson their vertex sets are Dini-continuous and bounded away fromzero, and the system satisfies a condition of contractivenesson average.  相似文献

We consider a trace theorem for self-similar Dirichlet forms on self-similar sets to self-similar subsets. In particular, we characterize the trace of the domains of Dirichlet forms on Sierpinski gaskets and Sierpinski carpets to their boundaries, where the boundaries are represented by triangles and squares that confine the gaskets and the carpets. As an application, we construct diffusion processes on a collection of fractals called fractal fields. These processes behave as an appropriate fractal diffusion within each fractal component of the field.  相似文献

The Dirichlet process and its extension, the Pitman–Yor process, are stochastic processes that take probability distributions as a parameter. These processes can be stacked up to form a hierarchical nonparametric Bayesian model. In this article, we present efficient methods for the use of these processes in this hierarchical context, and apply them to latent variable models for text analytics. In particular, we propose a general framework for designing these Bayesian models, which are called topic models in the computer science community. We then propose a specific nonparametric Bayesian topic model for modelling text from social media. We focus on tweets (posts on Twitter) in this article due to their ease of access. We find that our nonparametric model performs better than existing parametric models in both goodness of fit and real world applications.  相似文献

Summary Approximate Markov process defined on the extended sample space plays an important role in the theory of Dirichlet Space. In this paper, stochastic analysis is studied on the extended sample space including the Stratonovitch integral, Ito's formula, etc. and a tightness and continuity results about excursion laws of the processes associated to a sequence of Dirichlet spaces is obtained by following an idea of Lyons and Zheng. These results are applied back to the standard sample space, which improve a few results about the additive functionals and also enable us to obtain the Lyons and Zheng's tightness and continuity results in the situation where the processes may blow up and have killings. Connections between the Stratonovitch integrals on the extended sample space and that defined by Nakao with respect to a function in the Dirichlet space is made.  相似文献

We prove that the dimension of harmonic functions with finite Dirichlet integral is invariant under rough isometries between Riemannian manifolds satisfying the local conditions, expounded below. This result directly generalizes those of Kanai, of Grigor'yan, and of Holopainen. We also prove that the dimension of harmonic functions with finite Dirichlet integral is preserved under rough isometries between a Riemannian manifold satisfying the same local conditions and a graph of bounded degree; and between graphs of bounded degree. Recently developed methods of qualitative analysis for regenerative processes arising in queueing are presented. These methods are essentially qualitative and use notions such as coupling, probability metrics, etc. They are developed for studying various properties of regenerative models, including convergence rate to a stationary regime, continuity of their characteristics with respect to some parameters and first-occurrence time of an event such as queue overflowing. In spite of their qualitative nature they lead to good quantitative estimates of underlying properties with computer methods available to calculate them.  相似文献

We study the Cauchy problem for time-dependent diffusion operators with singular coefficients on L1-spaces induced by infinitesimal invariant measures. We give sufficient conditions on the coefficients such that the Cauchy-Problem is well-posed. We construct associated diffusion processes with the help of the theory of generalized Dirichlet forms. We apply our results in particular to construct a large class of Nelson-diffusions that could not been constructed before.  相似文献

Continuous state branching processes with immigration are studied. We are particularly concerned with the associated (non-symmetric) Dirichlet form. After observing that gamma distributions are only reversible distributions for this class of models, we prove that every generalized gamma convolution is a stationary distribution of the process with suitably chosen branching mechanism and with continuous immigration. For such non-reversible processes, the strong sector condition is discussed in terms of a characteristic called the Thorin measure. In addition, some connections with notion from non-commutative probability theory will be pointed out through calculations involving the Stieltjes transform.  相似文献

General multivariate periodic wavelets are an efficient tool for the approximation of multidimensional functions, which feature dominant directions of the periodicity.One-dimensional shift invariant spaces and tensor-product wavelets are generalized to multivariate shift invariant spaces on non-tensor-product patterns. In particular, the algebraic properties of the automorphism group are investigated. Possible patterns are classified. By divisibility considerations, decompositions of shift invariant spaces are given.The results are applied to construct multivariate orthogonal Dirichlet kernels and the respective wavelets. We propose a clustering method based on the estimation of mixtures of probability distributions, the new point being that the statistical units are described by probability distributions. The components of the mixtures are Dirichlet processes, normalized weighted Gamma processes, and Kraft processes. Mixtures obtained by applying some algorithms to the finite dimensional distributions of the components converge to the desired mixture as the dimension increases, since the components are mutually singular due to a theorem of Kakutani. In this paper,we are concerned with the stationary Markov processes generated by second order differential operators under the local boundary conditions, It is proved that all those processes have constnt probability currents, known as circulations of the processes, and hence the processes are called single circulation processes. The invariant measures and the circulation values of those processes are calculated in all cases of boundary classification. It is shown that thr circulation value is an elementary characteristic of irreversible stationary Markov processes and that all the reversible Markov processes in the same problem are just the special ones of the single circulation processes whose circulation values are equal to zero and whose ergodic limits in the sense of weak convergence are not trivial.  相似文献
