Let ${\mathbf{T}=\{T(t)\} _{t\in\mathbb{R}}}$ be a ??(X, F)-continuous group of isometries on a Banach space X with generator A, where ??(X, F) is an appropriate local convex topology on X induced by functionals from ${ F\subset X^{\ast}}$ . Let ?? A (x) be the local spectrum of A at ${x\in X}$ and ${r_{A}(x):=\sup\{\vert\lambda\vert :\lambda \in \sigma_{A}(x)\},}$ the local spectral radius of A at x. It is shown that for every ${x\in X}$ and ${\tau\in\mathbb{R},}$ $$\left\Vert T(\tau) x-x\right\Vert \leq \left\vert \tau \right\vert r_{A}(x)\left\Vert x\right\Vert.$$ Moreover if ${0\leq \tau r_{A}(x)\leq \frac{\pi}{2},}$ then it holds that $$\left\Vert T(\tau) x-T(-\tau)x\right\Vert \leq 2\sin \left(\tau r_{A}(x)\right)\left\Vert x\right\Vert.$$ Asymptotic versions of these results for C 0-semigroup of contractions are also obtained. If ${\mathbf{T}=\{T(t)\}_{t\geq 0}}$ is a C 0-semigroup of contractions, then for every ${x\in X}$ and ????? 0, $$\underset{t\rightarrow \infty }{\lim } \left\Vert T( t+\tau) x-T(t) x\right\Vert\leq\tau\sup\left\{ \left\vert \lambda \right\vert :\lambda \in\sigma_{A}(x)\cap i \mathbb{R} \right\} \left\Vert x\right\Vert. $$ Several applications are given.  相似文献

The characteristic rank of a vector bundle ξ over a finite connected CW-complex X is by definition the largest integer ${k, 0 \leq k \leq \mathrm{dim}(X)}$ , such that every cohomology class ${x \in H^{j}(X;\mathbb{Z}_2), 0 \leq j \leq k}$ , is a polynomial in the Stiefel–Whitney classes w i (ξ). In this note we compute the characteristic rank of vector bundles over the Stiefel manifold ${V_k(\mathbb{F}^n), \mathbb{F} = \mathbb{R}, \mathbb{C}, \mathbb{H}}$ .  相似文献

Let φ be a primitive Maass cusp form and t φ (n) be its nth Fourier coefficient at the cusp infinity. In this short note, we are interested in the estimation of the sums ${\sum_{n \leq x}t_{\varphi}(n)}$ and ${\sum_{n \leq x}t_{\varphi}(n^2)}$ . We are able to improve the previous results by showing that for any ${\varepsilon > 0}$ $$\sum_{n \leq x}t_{\varphi}(n) \ll\, _{\varphi, \varepsilon} x^{\frac{1027}{2827} + \varepsilon} \quad {and}\quad\sum_{n \leq x}t_{\varphi}(n^2) \ll\,_{\varphi, \varepsilon} x^{\frac{489}{861} + \varepsilon}.$$   相似文献

We consider a variant of the Cops and Robber game, in which the robber has unbounded speed, i.e., can take any path from her vertex in her turn, but she is not allowed to pass through a vertex occupied by a cop. Let ${c_{\infty}(G)}$ denote the number of cops needed to capture the robber in a graph G in this variant. We characterize graphs G with c ??(G) =? 1, and give an ${O( \mid V(G)\mid^2)}$ algorithm for their detection. We prove a lower bound for c ?? of expander graphs, and use it to prove three things. The first is that if ${np \geq 4.2 {\rm log}n}$ then the random graph ${G= \mathcal{G}(n, p)}$ asymptotically almost surely has ${\eta_{1}/p \leq \eta_{2}{\rm log}(np)/p}$ , for suitable positive constants ${\eta_{1}}$ and ${\eta_{2}}$ . The second is that a fixed-degree random regular graph G with n vertices asymptotically almost surely has ${c_{\infty}(G) = \Theta(n)}$ . The third is that if G is a Cartesian product of m paths, then ${n/4km^2 \leq c_{\infty}(G) \leq n/k}$ , where ${n = \mid V(G)\mid}$ and k is the number of vertices of the longest path.  相似文献

An almost quaternion-Hermitian structure on a Riemannian manifold $(M^{4n},g)$ is a reduction of the structure group of $M$ to $\mathrm{Sp}(n)\mathrm{Sp}(1)\subset \text{ SO }(4n)$ . In this paper we show that a compact simply connected homogeneous almost quaternion-Hermitian manifold of non-vanishing Euler characteristic is either a Wolf space, or $\mathbb{S }^2\times \mathbb{S }^2$ , or the complex quadric $\text{ SO }(7)/\mathrm{U}(3)$ .  相似文献

Let G be a connected graph. The notion of rainbow connection number rc(G) of a graph G was introduced by Chartrand et al. (Math Bohem 133:85–98, 2008). Basavaraju et al. (arXiv:1011.0620v1 [math.CO], 2010) proved that for every bridgeless graph G with radius r, ${rc(G)\leq r(r+2)}$ and the bound is tight. In this paper, we show that for a connected graph G with radius r and center vertex u, if we let D r  = {u}, then G has r?1 connected dominating sets ${ D^{r-1}, D^{r-2},\ldots, D^{1}}$ such that ${D^{r} \subset D^{r-1} \subset D^{r-2} \cdots\subset D^{1} \subset D^{0}=V(G)}$ and ${rc(G)\leq \sum_{i=1}^{r} \max \{2i+1,b_i\}}$ , where b i is the number of bridges in E[D i , N(D i )] for ${1\leq i \leq r}$ . From the result, we can get that if ${b_i\leq 2i+1}$ for all ${1\leq i\leq r}$ , then ${rc(G)\leq \sum_{i=1}^{r}(2i+1)= r(r+2)}$ ; if b i  > 2i + 1 for all ${1\leq i\leq r}$ , then ${rc(G)= \sum_{i=1}^{r}b_i}$ , the number of bridges of G. This generalizes the result of Basavaraju et al. In addition, an example is given to show that there exist infinitely graphs with bridges whose rc(G) is only dependent on the radius of G, and another example is given to show that there exist infinitely graphs with bridges whose rc(G) is only dependent on the number of bridges in G.  相似文献

The number ?? d (k) is defined as the minimum ???>?0 such that the following holds: For any finite family ${\mathcal {F}=\{B_1,B_2, \ldots , B_n\}}$ of closed balls in ${{\mathbb{R}}^d}$ such that every k elements of ${\mathcal {F}}$ have a common line transversal, the elements of the blown up family ${\lambda\mathcal {F}=\{\lambda B_1,\lambda B_2, \ldots , \lambda B_n\}}$ have a common line transversal. In this paper we show that ${\lambda_d(d+1)\leq4, \lambda_2(4)\leq 2\sqrt 2}$ and ??2(3)?<?2.88.  相似文献

In the projective planes PG(2, q), more than 1230 new small complete arcs are obtained for ${q \leq 13627}$ and ${q \in G}$ where G is a set of 38 values in the range 13687,..., 45893; also, ${2^{18} \in G}$ . This implies new upper bounds on the smallest size t 2(2, q) of a complete arc in PG(2, q). From the new bounds it follows that $$t_{2}(2, q) < 4.5\sqrt{q} \, {\rm for} \, q \leq 2647$$ and q = 2659,2663,2683,2693,2753,2801. Also, $$t_{2}(2, q) < 4.8\sqrt{q} \, {\rm for} \, q \leq 5419$$ and q = 5441,5443,5449,5471,5477,5479,5483,5501,5521. Moreover, $$t_{2}(2, q) < 5\sqrt{q} \, {\rm for} \, q \leq 9497$$ and q = 9539,9587,9613,9623,9649,9689,9923,9973. Finally, $$t_{2}(2, q) <5 .15\sqrt{q} \, {\rm for} \, q \leq 13627$$ and q = 13687,13697,13711,14009. Using the new arcs it is shown that $$t_{2}(2, q) < \sqrt{q}\ln^{0.73}q {\rm for} 109 \leq q \leq 13627\, {\rm and}\, q \in G.$$ Also, as q grows, the positive difference ${\sqrt{q}\ln^{0.73} q-\overline{t}_{2}(2, q)}$ has a tendency to increase whereas the ratio ${\overline{t}_{2}(2, q)/(\sqrt{q}\ln^{0.73} q)}$ tends to decrease. Here ${\overline{t}_{2}(2, q)}$ is the smallest known size of a complete arc in PG(2,q). These properties allow us to conjecture that the estimate ${t_{2}(2,q) < \sqrt{q}\ln ^{0.73}q}$ holds for all ${q \geq 109.}$ The new upper bounds are obtained by finding new small complete arcs in PG(2,q) with the help of a computer search using randomized greedy algorithms. Finally, new forms of the upper bound on t 2(2,q) are proposed.  相似文献

Let G be a graph, and let f be an integer function on V with ${1\leq f(v)\leq d(v)}$ to each vertex ${\upsilon \in V}$ . An f-edge cover coloring is a coloring of edges of E(G) such that each color appears at each vertex ${\upsilon \in V(G)}$ at least f(υ) times. The maximum number of colors needed to f-edge cover color G is called the f-edge cover chromatic index of G and denoted by ${\chi^{'}_{fc}(G)}$ . It is well known that any simple graph G has the f-edge cover chromatic index equal to δ f (G) or δ f (G) ? 1, where ${\delta_{f}(G)=\,min\{\lfloor \frac{d(v)}{f(v)} \rfloor: v\in V(G)\}}$ . The fractional f-edge cover chromatic index of a graph G, denoted by ${\chi^{'}_{fcf}(G)}$ , is the fractional f-matching number of the edge f-edge cover hypergraph ${\mathcal{H}}$ of G whose vertices are the edges of G and whose hyperedges are the f-edge covers of G. In this paper, we give an exact formula of ${\chi^{'}_{fcf}(G)}$ for any graph G, that is, ${\chi^{'}_{fcf}(G)=\,min \{\min\limits_{v\in V(G)}d_{f}(v), \lambda_{f}(G)\}}$ , where ${\lambda_{f}(G)=\min\limits_{S} \frac{|C[S]|}{\lceil (\sum\limits_{v\in S}{f(v)})/2 \rceil}}$ and the minimum is taken over all nonempty subsets S of V(G) and C[S] is the set of edges that have at least one end in S.  相似文献

Generalizing two results of Rieger [8] and Selberg [10] we give asymptotic formulas for sums of type $${\matrix {\sum \limits_{n\leq x}\cr n\equiv l({\rm mod}k)\cr f_{\kappa}(n)\equiv s_{\kappa}({\rm mod}p_{\kappa})\cr (\kappa=1,\dots,r)\cr}}\qquad \chi(n)\qquad {\rm and} {\matrix {\sum \limits_{n\leq x}\cr n\equiv l({\rm mod}k)\cr f_{\kappa}(n)\equiv s_{\kappa}({\rm mod}p_{\kappa})\cr (\kappa=1,\dots,r)\cr}}\qquad \chi(n),$$ where χ is a suitable multiplicative function, f1,…, f r are “small” additive, prime-independent arithmetical functions and k, l are coprime. The proofs are based on an analytic method which consists of considering the Dirichlet series generated by $ \chi(n)z_{1}^{f_{1}(n)}\cdot... \cdot z_{r}^{f_{r}(n)},z_{1}\dots z_{r} $ complex.  相似文献

Let {B H (t):t≥0} be a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter \(H\in (\frac {1}{2},1)\) . For the storage process \(Q_{B_{H}}(t)=\sup _{-\infty \le s\le t}\) \(\left (B_{H}(t)-B_{H}(s)-c(t-s)\right )\) we show that, for any T(u)>0 such that \(T(u)=o(u^{\frac {2H-1}{H}})\) , $$\mathbb P (\inf_{s\in[0,T(u)]} Q_{B_{H}}(s)>u)\sim\mathbb P(Q_{B_{H}}(0)>u),$$ as \(u\to \infty \) . This finding, known in the literature as the strong Piterbarg property, goes in line with previously observed properties of storage processes with self-similar and infinitely divisible input without Gaussian component.  相似文献

For ${N = 1, 2,\ldots,}$ let S N be a simple random sample of size n = n N from a population A N of size N, where ${0 \leq n \leq N}$ . Then with f N n/N, the sampling fraction, and 1 A the inclusion indicator that ${A \in S_N}$ , for any ${H \subset A_N}$ of size ${k \geq 0}$ , the high order correlations $${\rm Corr}(k) = E \big(\mathop{\Pi}\limits_{A \in H} ({\bf 1}_A - f_N )\big)$$ depend only on k, and if the sampling fraction ${f_N \rightarrow f}$ as ${N \rightarrow \infty}$ , then $$N^{k/2}{\rm Corr}(k) \rightarrow [f (f - 1)]^{k/2}EZ^{k}, k \,{\rm even}$$ and $$N^{(k+1)/2}{\rm Corr}(k) \rightarrow [f (f - 1)]^{(k-1)/2}(2f - 1)\frac{1}{3}(k - 1)EZ^{k+1}, k \,{\rm odd}$$ where Z is a standard normal random variable. This proves a conjecture given in [2].  相似文献

Let $\mathcal{T}_{n}$ be the semigroup of all full transformations on the finite set X n ={1,2,…,n}. For 1≤rn, set $\mathcal {T}(n, r)=\{ \alpha\in\mathcal{T}_{n} | \operatorname{rank}(\alpha)\leq r\}$ . In this note we show that, for 2≤rn?2, any maximal regular subsemigroup of the semigroup $\mathcal{T} (n,r)$ is idempotent generated, but this may not happen in the semigroup $\mathcal{T}(n, n-1)$ .  相似文献

A closed-form formula is derived for the generalized Clebsch–Gordan integral \(\int_{-1}^{1} {[}P_{\nu}(x){]}^{2}P_{\nu}(-x)\,\mathrm {d}x\) , with P ν being the Legendre function of arbitrary complex degree \(\nu\in\mathbb{C}\) . The finite Hilbert transform of P ν (x)P ν (?x), ?1<x<1 is evaluated. We consider the following system of integral equations $${u_{i}(t)=\int\nolimits_{I} g_{i}(t, s)f(s, u_{1}(s), u_{2}(s), \cdots, u_{n}(s))ds, \quad t \in I, \ 1 \leq i\leq n}$$ where I is an interval of $\mathbb{R}$ . Our aim is to establish criteria such that the above system has a constant-sign periodic and almost periodic solution (u 1, u 2,…,u n ) when I is an infinite interval of $\mathbb{R}$ , and a constant-sign periodic solution when I is a finite interval of $\mathbb{R}$ . The above problem is also extended to that on $\mathbb{R}$ $$u_{i} {\left( t \right)} = {\int_\mathbb{R} {g_{i} {\left( {t,s} \right)}f_{i} {\left( {s,u_{1} {\left( s \right)},u_{2} {\left( s \right)}, \cdots ,u_{n} {\left( s \right)}} \right)}ds\quad t \in \mathbb{R},\quad 1 \leqslant i \leqslant n.} }$$   相似文献

Let R be a prime, locally matrix ring of characteristic not 2 and let Q ms (R) be the maximal symmetric ring of quotients of R. Suppose that ${\delta}\colon R\to Q_{ms}(R)$ is a Jordan τ-derivation, where τ is an anti-automorphism of R. Then there exists a?∈?Q ms (R) such that δ(x)?=?xa???(x) for all x?∈?R. Let X be a Banach space over the field ${\mathbb F}$ of real or complex numbers and let ${\mathcal B}(X)$ be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on X. We prove that $Q_{ms}({\mathcal B}(X))={\mathcal B}(X)$ , which provides the viewpoint of ring theory for some results concerning derivations on the algebra ${\mathcal B}(X)$ . In particular, all Jordan τ-derivations of ${\mathcal B}(X)$ are inner if $\text{dim}_{\mathbb F}X>1$ .  相似文献

Let ${N \geq 3}$ and u be the solution of u t = Δ log u in ${\mathbb{R}^N \times (0, T)}$ with initial value u 0 satisfying ${B_{k_1}(x, 0) \leq u_{0} \leq B_{k_2}(x, 0)}$ for some constants k 1k 2 > 0 where ${B_k(x, t) = 2(N - 2)(T - t)_{+}^{N/(N - 2)}/(k + (T - t)_{+}^{2/(N - 2)}|x|^{2})}$ is the Barenblatt solution for the equation and ${u_0 - B_{k_0} \in L^{1}(\mathbb{R}^{N})}$ for some constant k 0 > 0 if ${N \geq 4}$ . We give a new different proof on the uniform convergence and ${L^1(\mathbb{R}^N)}$ convergence of the rescaled function ${\tilde{u}(x, s) = (T - t)^{-N/(N - 2)}u(x/(T - t)^{-1/(N - 2)}, t), s = -{\rm log}(T - t)}$ , on ${\mathbb{R}^N}$ to the rescaled Barenblatt solution ${\tilde{B}_{k_0}(x) = 2(N - 2)/(k_0 + |x|^{2})}$ for some k 0 > 0 as ${s \rightarrow \infty}$ . When ${N \geq 4, 0 \leq u_0(x) \leq B_{k_0}(x, 0)}$ in ${\mathbb{R}^N}$ , and ${|u_0(x) - B_{k_0}(x, 0)| \leq f \in L^{1}(\mathbb{R}^{N})}$ for some constant k 0 > 0 and some radially symmetric function f, we also prove uniform convergence and convergence in some weighted L 1 space in ${\mathbb{R}^N}$ of the rescaled solution ${\tilde{u}(x, s)}$ to ${\tilde{B}_{k_0}(x)}$ as ${s \rightarrow \infty}$ .  相似文献

Let S k (Γ) be the space of holomorphic cusp forms of even integral weight k for the full modular group. Let λ f (n), λ g (n), λ h (n) be the nth normalized Fourier coefficients of three distinct holomorphic primitive cusp forms ${f (z) \in S_{k_1}(\Gamma), g(z) \in S_{k_2} (\Gamma), h(z) \in S_{k_3} (\Gamma)}$ respectively.
