Products of Toeplitz Operators on the Bergman Space   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
In 1962 Brown and Halmos gave simple conditions for the product of two Toeplitz operators on Hardy space to be equal to a Toeplitz operator. Recently, Ahern and Cucković showed that a similar result holds for Toeplitz operators with bounded harmonic symbols on Bergman space. For general symbols, the situation is much more complicated. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the product to be a Toeplitz operator (Theorem 6.1), an explicit formula for the symbol of the product in certain cases (Theorem 6.4), and then show that almost anything can happen (Theorem 6.7).  相似文献

We consider Toeplitz operators with symbols that are almost periodic matrix functions of several variables. It is shown that under certain conditions on the group generated by the Fourier support of the symbol, a Toeplitz operator is Fredholm if and only if it is invertible.

We establish a necessary and sufficient criterion for the Fredholmness of a general locally compact band-dominated operator A on and solve the long-standing problem of computing its Fredholm index in terms of the limit operators of A. In this paper we discuss necessary conditions and sufficient conditions for the compression of an analytic Toeplitz operator onto a shift coinvariant subspace to have nontrivial reducing subspaces. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the kernel of a Toeplitz operator whose symbol is the quotient of two inner functions to be nontrivial and obtain examples of reducing subspaces from these kernels. Motivated by this result we give necessary conditions and sufficient conditions for the kernel of a Toeplitz operator whose symbol is the quotient of two inner functions to be nontrivial in terms of the supports of the two inner functions. By studying the commutant of a compression, we are able to give a necessary condition for the existence of reducing subspaces on certain shift coinvariant subspaces.  相似文献

We consider the question of when a Toeplitz operator with continuous symbol on a connected compact abelian group is almost invertible, and show that this occurs precisely when the symbol is invertible and has zero topological index. The proof uses someK-theory computations.  相似文献

Fredholm criteria and index formulas are established for Wiener-Hopf operators W(a) with semi-almost periodic matrix symbols a on weighted Lebesgue spaces where 1 < p < ∞, w belongs to a subclass of Muckenhoupt weights and . We also study the invertibility of Wiener-Hopf operators with almost periodic matrix symbols on . In the case N = 1 we also obtain a semi-Fredholm criterion for Wiener-Hopf operators with semi-almost periodic symbols and, for another subclass of weights, a Fredholm criterion for Wiener-Hopf operators with semi-periodic symbols. We study the Banach algebras of bounded holomorphic functions on the unit disk whose boundary values, having, in a sense, the weakest possible discontinuities, belong to the algebra of semi-almost periodic functions on the unit circle. The latter algebra contains as a special case an algebra introduced by Sarason in connection with some problems in the theory of Toeplitz operators.  相似文献

We analyze the essential sectrum and index theory of elements of Toeplitz-composition C*-algebras (algebras generated by the Toeplitz algebra and a single linear-fractional composition operator, acting on the Hardy space of the unit disk). For automorphic composition operators we show that the quotient of the Toeplitz-composition algebra by the compacts is isomorphic to the crossed product C*-algebra for the action of the symbol on the boundary circle. Using this result we obtain sufficient conditions for polynomial elements of the algebra to be Fredholm, by analyzing the spectrum of elements of the crossed product. We also obtain an integral formula for the Fredholm index in terms of a generalized Chern character. Finally we prove an index formula for the case of the non-parabolic, non-automorphic linear fractional maps studied by Kriete, MacCluer and Moorhouse.  相似文献

This paper mainly concerns abelian von Neumann algebras generated by Toeplitz operators on weighted Bergman spaces. Recently a family of abelian w*-closed Toeplitz algebras has been obtained (see [5,6,7,8]). We show that this algebra is maximal abelian and is singly generated by a Toeplitz operator with a “common” symbol. A characterization for Toeplitz operators with radial symbols is obtained and generalized to the high dimensional case. We give several examples for abelian von Neumann algebras in the case of high dimensional weighted Bergman spaces, which are different from the one dimensional case.  相似文献

In this paper the concept of asymptotic Toeplitz and asymptotic Hankel operators on the Bergman space are introduced and properties of these classes of operators are studied. The importance of this notion is that it associates with a class of operators a Toeplitz operator and with a class of operators a Hankel operator where the original operators are not even Toeplitz or Hankel. Thus it is possible to assign a symbol to an operator that is not Toeplitz or Hankel and hence a symbol calculus is obtained. Further a relation between Toeplitz operators and little Hankel operators on the Bergman space is established in some asymptotic sense.  相似文献

In the first part of the paper we examine mappings of higher order from a general point of view, that is, in normed spaces of bounded real-valued functions defined on RR. Particular attention is paid to the relation of such mappings with the so-called autonomous superposition operators. Next we investigate mappings of higher order in Banach spaces of almost periodic functions and their perturbations. We also give necessary and sufficient conditions guaranteeing that a nonautonomous superposition operator acts in the space of almost periodic functions in the sense of Levitan and is uniformly continuous. In the Banach space of bounded almost periodic functions in the sense of Levitan we discuss mappings of higher order and a convolution operator. 在本文中,我们决定出多复变Hardy空间H2上解析Toeplitz代数的本质换位.即一个算子与所有解析Toeplitz算子本质可换,当且仅当它是符号属于Ac的Toeplitz算子的紧扰动.由此,符号属于Ac的Toeplitz算子生成的代数F(Ac)在Calkin代数中的像是极大可换闭代数,这导致了L.Coburn正合列的极大扩充.从这个事实,证明了符号属于Ac的Toeplitz算子的本质谱是连通的,这大大改进了C-S最近的工作.从本文的主要定理,证明了Toeplitz代数F(L∞)的本质换位和本质中心是由符号属于QC的Toeplitz算子生成的代数F(QC),这些结果又导致了对代数F(H∞)+K自同构群的确定.  相似文献

The Fredholmness of a band-dominated operator on is closely related with the invertibility of its limit operators: the operator is Fredholm if and only if each of its limit operators is invertible and if the norms of their inverses are uniformly bounded. The goal of the present note is to show how the Fredholm index of a Fredholm band-dominated operator can be determined in terms of its limit operators.  相似文献

We study the commuting problem for Toeplitz operators on the harmonic Bergman space of the unit disk. We show that an analytic Toeplitz operator and a co-analytic Toeplitz operator with certain noncyclicity hypothesis can commute only when one of their symbols is constant. We also obtain analogous results for semi-commutants.  相似文献
