Let S be a topologically finite surface, and g be a hyperbolic metric on S with a finite number of conical singularities of positive singular curvature, cusps and complete ends of infinite area. We prove that there exists a convex polyhedral surface P in hyperbolic space and a group G of isometries of such that the induced metric on the quotient P/G is isometric to g. Moreover, the pair (P, G) is unique among a particular class of convex polyhedra.   相似文献

We consider the G-invariant spectrum of the Laplacian on an orbit space M/G where M is a compact Riemannian manifold and G acts by isometries. We generalize the Sunada–Pesce–Sutton technique to the G-invariant setting to produce pairs of isospectral non-isometric orbit spaces. One of these spaces is isometric to an orbifold with constant sectional curvature whereas the other admits non-orbifold singularities and therefore has unbounded sectional curvature. We conclude that constant sectional curvature and the presence of non-orbifold singularities are inaudible to the G-invariant spectrum.  相似文献

Measure contraction properties M C P (K, N) are synthetic Ricci curvature lower bounds for metric measure spaces which do not necessarily have smooth structures. It is known that if a Riemannian manifold has dimension N, then M C P (K, N) is equivalent to Ricci curvature bounded below by K. On the other hand, it was observed in Rifford (Math. Control Relat. Fields 3(4), 467–487 2013) that there is a family of left invariant metrics on the three dimensional Heisenberg group for which the Ricci curvature is not bounded below. Though this family of metric spaces equipped with the Harr measure satisfy M C P (0,5). In this paper, we give sufficient conditions for a 2n+1 dimensional weakly Sasakian manifold to satisfy M C P (0, 2n + 3). This extends the above mentioned result on the Heisenberg group in Rifford (Math. Control Relat. Fields 3(4), 467–487 2013).  相似文献

Let S be a complete surface of constant curvature K = ±1, i.e., S 2 or л 2, and Ω ? S a bounded convex subset. If S = S 2, assume also diameter(Ω) < π/2. It is proved that the length of any steepest descent curve of a quasi-convex function in Ω is less than or equal to the perimeter of Ω. This upper bound is actually proved for the class of G-curves, a family of curves that naturally includes all steepest descent curves. In case S = S 2, the existence of G-curves, whose length is equal to the perimeter of their convex hull, is also proved, showing that the above estimate is indeed optimal. The results generalize theorems by Manselli and Pucci on steepest descent curves in the Euclidean plane.  相似文献

Let g be a Riemannian metric on the 2-sphere S2. Results on isometric embeddings of (S2, g) into a fixed model manifold often have implications in quasi-local mass related problems in general relativity. In this paper, motivated by the definitions of the Brown–York and the Wang–Yau mass, we consider isometric embeddings of (S2, g) into conformally flat spaces. We prove that if g is close to the standard metric on S2, then (S2, g) admits an isometric embedding into any spatial Schwarzschild manifold with small mass. We also give a sufficient condition that ensures isometric embeddings of perturbations of a Euclidean convex surface into \({\mathbb{R}^3}\) equipped with a conformally flat metric.  相似文献

Let G be a full connected semisimple isometry Lie group of a connected Riemannian symmetric space M = G/K with the stabilizer K; p : GG/K = M the canonical projection which is a Riemannian submersion for some G-left invariant and K-right invariant Riemannian metric on G, and d is a (unique) sub-Riemannian metric on G defined by this metric and the horizontal distribution of the Riemannian submersion p. It is proved that each geodesic in (G, d) is normal and presents an orbit of some one-parameter isometry group. By the Solov'ev method, using the Cartan decomposition for M = G/K, the author found the curvatures of the homogeneous sub-Riemannian manifold (G, d). In the case G = Sp(1) × Sp(1) with the Riemannian symmetric space S3 = Sp(1) = G/ diag(Sp(1) × Sp(1)) the curvatures and torsions are calculated of images in S3 of all geodesics on (G, d) with respect to p.  相似文献

A vertex \(v\in V(G)\) is said to distinguish two vertices \(x,y\in V(G)\) of a nontrivial connected graph G if the distance from v to x is different from the distance from v to y. A set \(S\subset V(G)\) is a local metric generator for G if every two adjacent vertices of G are distinguished by some vertex of S. A local metric generator with the minimum cardinality is called a local metric basis for G and its cardinality, the local metric dimension of G. It is known that the problem of computing the local metric dimension of a graph is NP-Complete. In this paper we study the problem of finding exact values or bounds for the local metric dimension of strong product of graphs.  相似文献

We study some cases in which the sectional curvature remains positive under the taking of quotients by certain nonfree isometric actions of Lie groups. We consider the actions of the groups S 1 and S 3 for which the quotient space can be endowed with a smooth structure by means of the fibrations S 3/S 1}~S 2 and S 7/S 3}?S 4. We prove that the quotient space possesses a metric of positive sectional curvature provided that the original metric has positive sectional curvature on all 2-planes orthogonal to the orbits of the action.  相似文献

A set S of vertices is independent or stable in a graph G, and we write S ∈ Ind (G), if no two vertices from S are adjacent, and α(G) is the cardinality of an independent set of maximum size, while core(G) denotes the intersection of all maximum independent sets. G is called a König–Egerváry graph if its order equals α(G) + μ(G), where μ(G) denotes the size of a maximum matching. The number def (G) = | V(G) | ?2μ(G) is the deficiency of G. The number \({d(G)=\max\{\left\vert S\right\vert -\left\vert N(S)\right\vert :S\in\mathrm{Ind}(G)\}}\) is the critical difference of G. An independent set A is critical if \({\left\vert A\right\vert -\left\vert N(A)\right\vert =d(G)}\) , where N(S) is the neighborhood of S, and α c (G) denotes the maximum size of a critical independent set. Larson (Eur J Comb 32:294–300, 2011) demonstrated that G is a König–Egerváry graph if and only if there exists a maximum independent set that is also critical, i.e., α c (G) = α(G). In this paper we prove that: (i) \({d(G)=\left \vert \mathrm{core}(G) \right \vert -\left \vert N (\mathrm{core}(G))\right\vert =\alpha(G)-\mu(G)=def \left(G\right)}\) holds for every König–Egerváry graph G; (ii) G is König–Egerváry graph if and only if each maximum independent set of G is critical.  相似文献

We illustrate some well-known facts about the evolution of the 3-sphere (S3, g) generated by the Ricci flow. We define the Dirac flow and study the properties of the metric \(\bar g = dt^2 + g(t)\), where g(t) is a solution of the Dirac flow. In the case of a metric g conformally equivalent to the round metric on S3 the metric \(\bar g\) is of constant curvature. We study the properties of solutions in the case when g depends on two functional parameters. The flow on differential 1-forms whose solution generates the Eguchi–Hanson metric was written down. In particular cases we study the singularities developed by these flows.  相似文献

We study a characterization of 4-dimensional (not necessarily complete) gradient Ricci solitons (Mgf) which have harmonic Weyl curvature, i.e., \(\delta W=0\). Roughly speaking, we prove that the soliton metric g is locally isometric to one of the following four types: an Einstein metric, the product \( \mathbb {R}^2 \times N_{\lambda }\) of the Euclidean metric and a 2-d Riemannian manifold of constant curvature \({\lambda } \ne 0\), a certain singular metric and a locally conformally flat metric. The method here is motivated by Cao–Chen’s works (in Trans Am Math Soc 364:2377–2391, 2012; Duke Math J 162:1003–1204, 2013) and Derdziński’s study on Codazzi tensors (in Math Z 172:273–280, 1980). Combined with the previous results on locally conformally flat solitons, our characterization yields a new classification of 4-d complete steady solitons with \(\delta W=0\). For the shrinking case, it re-proves the rigidity result (Fernández-López and García-Río in Math Z 269:461–466, 2011; Munteanu and Sesum in J. Geom Anal 23:539–561, 2013) in 4-d. It also helps to understand the expanding case; we now understand all 4-d non-conformally flat ones with \(\delta W=0\). We also characterize locally 4-d (not necessarily complete) gradient Ricci solitons with harmonic curvature.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain a rigidity theorem by modifying Cheng–Yau’s technique to linear Weingarten submanifolds in the unit sphere Sn+p(1) with parallel normalized mean curvature vector. As a corollary, we have Theorem 1.3 in Guo and Li (Tohoku Math J 65:331–339, 2013) and Theorem 2 in Li (Math Ann 305:665–672, 1996).  相似文献

In Behravesh (J Lond Math Soc 55(2):251–260, 1997), c(G), q(G) and p(G) are defined for a finite group G. In this paper, we will calculate c(G), q(G) and p(G) for some 2-groups G satisfying the Hasse principle in Fuma and Ninomiya (Math J Okayama Univ 46:31–38, 2004). We will consider
$G=\langle x, y, z: x^{2^{m-2}}=y^{2}=z^2=1, [x, y]=[y, z]=1, x^{z}=xy \rangle$
where m ≥ 4. By comparing the character tables and Galois conjugacy classes of Irr(G) and Irr(Z(G)), we will show that
$c(G)=q(G)=p(G)= 2c(Z(G))=2^{m-2}+4.$

In 1832, Jakob Steiner (Systematische Entwicklung der Abhängigkeit geometrischer Gestalten von einander, Reimer (Berlin)) asked for a characterization of those planar graphs which are combinatorially equivalent to polyhedra inscribed in the sphere. This question was answered in the 1990s by Igor Rivin (Ann. of Math.143(1996), 51–70), as a byproduct of his classification of ideal polyhedra in hyperbolic 3-space. Rivin also proposed a more direct approach to these results in Rivin (Ann. of Math.139 (1994), 553–580). In this paper, we prove a combinatorial result (Theorem 6) which enables one to complete the program of Rivin (Ann. Math.139(1994), 553–580).  相似文献

The spectrum ω (G) of a finite group G is the set of orders of elements of G. Let S be a simple exceptional group of type E 6 or E 7 . Let G be a group. We show that the Birget–Rhodes prefix expansion \(G^{Pr}\) and the Margolis–Meakin expansion M(Xf) of G with respect to \(f:X\rightarrow G\) can be regarded as inverse subsemigroups of a common E-unitary inverse semigroup P. We construct P as an inverse subsemigroup of an E-unitary inverse monoid \(U/\zeta \) which is a homomorphic image of the free product U of the free semigroup \(X^+\) on X and G. The semigroup P satisfies a universal property with respect to homomorphisms into the permissible hull C(S) of a suitable E-unitary inverse semigroup S, with \(S/\sigma _S=G\), from which the characterizing universal properties of \(G^{Pr}\) and M(Xf) can be recaptured easily.  相似文献

In a metric space with a directed graph G, Jachymski (Proc Am Math Soc 1(136):1359–1373, 2008) introduced the concept of Banach G-contraction and proved two fixed point theorems for such mappings. Bojor (Nonlinear Anal 75:3895–3901, 2012) generalized this concept to Reich G-contraction and obtain a fixed point theorem. Note that Bojor’s theorem is established under the additional type of connectedness of G and it does not include Jachymski’s results as a special case. Moreover, there are some mistakes in several corollaries. Some examples and counterexamples are illustrated. It is our purpose to improve Bojor’s theorem and to present two fixed point theorems for Reich G-contractions. Our results are extensions of the two Jachymski’s theorems. Finally, we also discuss some priori error estimates.  相似文献

A graph G is called claw-o-heavy if every induced claw (\(K_{1,3}\)) of G has two end-vertices with degree sum at least |V(G)|. For a given graph SG is called S-f-heavy if for every induced subgraph H of G isomorphic to S and every pair of vertices \(u,v\in V(H)\) with \(d_H(u,v)=2,\) there holds \(\max \{d(u),d(v)\}\ge |V(G)|/2.\) In this paper, we prove that every 2-connected claw-o-heavy and \(Z_3\)-f-heavy graph is hamiltonian (with two exceptional graphs), where \(Z_3\) is the graph obtained by identifying one end-vertex of \(P_4\) (a path with 4 vertices) with one vertex of a triangle. This result gives a positive answer to a problem proposed Ning and Zhang (Discrete Math 313:1715–1725, 2013), and also implies two previous theorems of Faudree et al. and Chen et al., respectively.  相似文献

A ball of maximal radius inscribed in a convex closed bounded set with a nonempty interior is considered in the class of uniformly convex Banach spaces. It is shown that, under certain conditions, the centers of inscribed balls form a uniformly continuous (as a set function) set-valued mapping in the Hausdorff metric. In a finite-dimensional space of dimension n, the set of centers of balls inscribed in polyhedra with a fixed collection of normals satisfies the Lipschitz condition with respect to sets in the Hausdorff metric. A Lipschitz continuous single-valued selector of the set of centers of balls inscribed in such polyhedra can be found by solving n + 1 linear programming problems.  相似文献
