The synthetic crystalline hydrous titanium(IV) oxide (CHTO), an anatase variety and thermally stable up to 300 °C, has been used for adsorption of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) from the aqueous solutions, the optimum pH-values of which are 5.0 and 1.5, respectively. The kinetic data correspond very well to the pseudo-second order equation. The rates of adsorption are controlled by the film (boundary layer) diffusion, and increase with increasing temperature. The equilibrium data describe very well the Langmuir, Redlich–Peterson, and Toth isotherms. The monolayer adsorption capacities are high, and increased with increasing temperature. The evaluated ΔG° (kJ · mol?1) and ΔH° (kJ · mol?1) indicate the spontaneous and endothermic nature of the reactions. The adsorptions occur with increase in entropy (ΔS° = positive), and the mean free energy (EDR) values obtained by analysis of equilibrium data with Dubinin–Radushkevick equation indicate the ion-exchange mechanism for Cr(III) and Cr(VI)-adsorptions.  相似文献

The kinetics of the reduction of water-soluble colloidal manganese dioxide by glycyl-leucine (Gly-Leu) has been investigated in the presence of perchloric acid both in aqueous as well as micellar media at 35 °C. The study was carried out as functions of [MnO2], [Gly-Leu] and [HClO4]. The first-order-rate is observed with respect to [MnO2], whereas fractional-order-rates are determined in both [Gly-Leu] and [HClO4]. Addition of sodium pyrophosphate and sodium fluoride enhanced the rate of the reaction. Further, the use of surfactant micelles is highlighted as, in favourable cases, the micelles help the redox reactions by bringing the reactants into a close proximity due to hydrogen bonding. While the ionic surfactants SDS and CTAB have not shown any effect on the reaction rate, the nonionic surfactant TX-100 has catalytic effect which is explained in terms of the mathematical model proposed by Tuncay et al. (1999). The Arrhenius and Eyring equations are valid for the reaction over the range of temperatures used and different activation parameters (Ea, ΔH#, ΔS# and ΔG#) have been evaluated. Kinetic studies show that the redox reaction between MnO2 and Gly-Leu proceeds through a mechanism combining one- and two-electron pathways: Mn(IV)  Mn(III)  Mn(II) and Mn(IV)  Mn(II). On the basis of the observed results, a possible mechanism has been proposed and discussed.  相似文献

We have measured the densities of aqueous solutions of l-methionine, l-methionine plus equimolal HCl, and l-methionine plus equimolal NaOH at temperatures 278.15  T/K  368.15, at molalities 0.0125  m/mol · kg−1  1.0 as solubilities allowed, and at p = 0.35 MPa using a vibrating tube densimeter. We have also measured the heat capacities of these solutions at 278.15  T/K  393.15 and at the same m and p using a twin fixed-cell differential temperature-scanning calorimeter. We used the densities to calculate apparent molar volumes Vϕ and the heat capacities to calculate apparent molar heat capacities Cp,ϕ for these solutions. We used our results and values from the literature for Vϕ(T, m) and Cp,ϕ(T, m) for HCl(aq), NaOH(aq), and NaCl(aq) and the molar heat capacity change ΔrCp,m(T, m) for ionization of water to calculate parameters for ΔrCp,m(T, m) for the two proton dissociations from protonated aqueous cationic l-methionine. We integrated these results in an iterative algorithm using Young’s Rule to account for the effects of speciation and chemical relaxation on Vϕ(T, m) and Cp,ϕ(T, m). This procedure yielded parameters for Vϕ(T, m) and Cp,ϕ(T, m) for methioninium chloride {H2Met+Cl(aq)} and for sodium methioninate {Na+Met(aq)} which successfully modeled our observed results. Values are given for ΔrCp,m, ΔrHm, pQa, ΔrSm, and ΔrVm for the first and second proton dissociations from protonated aqueous l-methionine as functions of T and m.  相似文献

A novel cation exchanger (TFS-CE) having carboxylate functionality was prepared through graft copolymerization of hydroxyethylmethacrylate onto tamarind fruit shell (TFS) in the presence of N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide as a cross-linking agent using K2S2O8/Na2S2O3 initiator system, followed by functionalisation. The TFS-CE was used for the removal of Cu(II) from aqueous solutions. At fixed solid/solution ratio the various factors affecting adsorption such as pH, initial concentration, contact time, and temperature were investigated. Kinetic experiments showed that the amount of Cu(II) adsorbed increased with increase in Cu(II) concentration and equilibrium was attained at 1 h. The kinetics of adsorption follows pseudo-second-order model and the rate constant increases with increase in temperature indicating endothermic nature of adsorption. The Arrhenius and Eyring equations were used to obtain the kinetic parameters such as activation energy (Ea) and enthalpy (ΔH#), entropy (ΔS#) and free energy (ΔG#) of activation for the adsorption process. The value of Ea for adsorption was found to be 10.84 kJ · mol?1 and the adsorption involves diffusion controlled process. The equilibrium data were well fitted to the Langmuir isotherm. The maximum adsorption capacity for Cu(II) was 64 · 10 mg · g?1 at T = 303 K. The thermodynamic parameters such as changes in free energy (ΔG°), enthalpy (ΔH°), and entropy (ΔS°) were derived to predict the nature of adsorption process. The isosteric heat of adsorption increases with increase in surface loading indicating some lateral interactions between the adsorbed metal ions.  相似文献

Molar calorimetric enthalpy changes ΔrHm(cal) have been measured for the biochemical reactions {cAMP(aq) + H2O(l)=AMP(aq)} and {PEP(aq) + H2O(l)=pyruvate(aq) + phosphate(aq)}. The reactions were catalyzed, respectively, by phosphodiesterase 3,5-cyclic nucleotide and by alkaline phosphatase. The results were analyzed by using a chemical equilibrium model to obtain values of standard molar enthalpies of reaction ΔrHm for the respective reference reactions {cAMP(aq) + H2O(l)=HAMP(aq)} and {PEP3−(aq) + H2O(l)=pyruvate(aq) + HPO2−4(aq)}. Literature values of the apparent equilibrium constants K for the reactions {ATP(aq)=cAMP(aq) + pyrophosphate(aq)}, {ATP(aq) + pyruvate(aq)=ADP(aq) + PEP(aq)}, and {ATP(aq) + pyruvate(aq) + phosphate(aq)=AMP(aq) + PEP(aq) + pyrophosphate(aq)} were also analyzed by using the chemical equilibrium model. These calculations yielded values of the equilibrium constants K and standard molar Gibbs free energy changes ΔrGm for ionic reference reactions that correspond to the overall biochemical reactions. Combination of the standard molar reaction property values (K, ΔrHm, and ΔrGm) with the standard molar formation properties of the AMP, ADP, ATP, pyrophosphate, and pyruvate species led to values of the standard molar enthalpy ΔfHm and Gibbs free energy of formation ΔfGm and the standard partial molar entropy Sm of the cAMP and PEP species. The thermochemical network appears to be reasonably well reinforced and thus lends some confidence to the accuracy of the calculated property values of the variety of species involved in the several reactions considered herein.  相似文献

The solubility of anthracene was measured in pure water and in sodium chloride aqueous solution (salt concentration, m/mol · kg?1 = 0.1006, 0.5056, and 0.6082) at temperatures between (278 and 333) K. Solubility of anthracene in pure water agrees fairly well with values reported in earlier similar studies. Solubility of anthracene in sodium chloride aqueous solutions ranged from (6 · 10?8 to 143 · 10?8) mol · kg?1. Sodium chloride had a salting-out effect on the solubility of anthracene. The salting-out coefficients did not vary significantly with temperature over the range studied. The average salting-out coefficient for anthracene was 0.256 kg · mol?1.The standard molar Gibbs free energies, ΔtrG°, enthalpies, ΔtrH°, and entropies, ΔtrS°, for the transfer of anthracene from pure water to sodium chloride aqueous solutions were also estimated. Most of the estimated ΔtrG° values were positive [(20 to 1230) J · mol?1]. The analysis of the thermodynamic parameters shows that the transfer of anthracene from pure water to sodium chloride aqueous solution is thermodynamically unfavorable, and that this unfavorable condition is caused by a decrease in entropy.  相似文献

Density ρ, viscosity η, and refractive index nD, values for (tetradecane + benzene, + toluene, + chlorobenzene, + bromobenzene, + anisole) binary mixtures over the entire range of mole fraction have been measured at temperatures (298.15, 303.15, and 308.15) K at atmospheric pressure. The speed of sound u has been measured at T = 298.15 K only. Using these data, excess molar volume VE, deviations in viscosity Δη, Lorentz–Lorenz molar refraction ΔR, speed of sound Δu, and isentropic compressibility Δks have been calculated. These results have been fitted to the Redlich and Kister polynomial equation to estimate the binary interaction parameters and standard deviations. Excess molar volumes have exhibited both positive and negative trends in many mixtures, depending upon the nature of the second component of the mixture. For the (tetradecane + chlorobenzene) binary mixture, an incipient inversion has been observed. Calculated thermodynamic quantities have been discussed in terms of intermolecular interactions between mixing components.  相似文献

The protonation equilibria for 20 standard α-amino acids in solutions have been studied pH-potentiometrically. The dissociation constants (pKa) of 20 amino acids and the thermodynamic functions (ΔG, ΔH, ΔS, and δ) for the successive and overall protonation processes of amino acids have been derived at different temperatures in water and in three different mixtures of water and dioxane (mole fractions of dioxane were 0.083, 0.174, and 0.33). Titrations were also carried out in water ionic strengths of (0.15, 0.20, and 0.25) mol · dm−3 NaNO3, and the resulting dissociation constants are reported. A detailed thermodynamic analysis of the effects of organic solvent (dioxane), temperature and ionic strength influencing the protonation processes of amino acids is presented and discussed to determine the factors which control these processes.  相似文献

Density, ρ, speed of sound, u, and refractive index, nD, at 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure have been measured over the entire composition range for (toluene + methyl acetate + butyl acetate) and (toluene + methyl acetate + methyl heptanoate) systems. Excess molar volumes, VE, isentropic compressibility, κs, isentropic compressibility deviations, Δκs, and changes of refractive index on mixing, ΔnD, for the above systems, have been calculated from experimental data and fitted to Cibulka, Singh et al., and Nagata and Sakura equations, standard deviations from the regression lines are shown. Geometrical solution models, Tsao and Smith, Kholer, Jacob and Fitzner, Rastogi et al. were also applied to predict ternary properties from binary contributions.  相似文献

Thermodynamic properties of Mg(NH2)2 and LiNH2 were investigated by measurements of NH3 pressure-composition isotherms (PCI). Van’t Hoff plot of plateau pressures of PCI for decomposition of Mg(NH2)2 indicated the standard enthalpy and entropy change of the reactions were ΔH° = (120 ± 11) kJ · mol?1 (per unit amount of NH3) and ΔS° = (182 ± 19) J · mol?1 · K?1 for the reaction: Mg(NH2)2  MgNH + NH3, and ΔH° = 112 kJ · mol?1 and ΔSo = 157 J · mol?1 · K?1 for the reaction: MgNH  (1/3)Mg3N2 + (1/3)NH3. PCI measurements for formation of LiNH2 were carried out, and temperature dependence of plateau pressures indicated ΔH° = (?108 ± 15) kJ · mol?1 and ΔS° = (?143 ± 25) J · mol?1 · K?1 for the reaction: Li2NH + NH3  2LiNH2.  相似文献

The thermodynamic parameters, ΔBG, ΔBH, ΔBS, and ΔBCp, of the drugs flurbiprofen (FLP), nabumetone (NAB), and naproxen (NPX) binding to β-cyclodextrin (βCD) and to γ-cyclodextrin (γCD) in 0.10 M sodium phosphate buffer were determined from isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) measurements over the temperature range from 293.15 K to 313.15 K. The heat capacity changes for the binding reactions ranged from −(362 ± 48) J · mol−1 · K−1 for FLP and −(238 ± 90) J · mol−1 · K−1 for NAB binding in the βCD cavity to 0 for FLP and −(25.1 ± 9.2) J · mol−1 · K−1 for NPX binding in the larger γCD cavity, implying that the structure of water is reorganized in the βCD binding reactions but not reorganized in the γCD binding reactions. Comparison of the fluorescence enhancements of FLP and NAB upon transferring from the aqueous buffer to isopropanol with the maximum fluorescence enhancements observed for their βCD binding reactions indicated that some localized water was retained in the FLP–βCD complex and almost none in the NAB–βCD complex. No fluorescence change occurs with drug binding in the larger γCD cavity, indicating the retention of the bulk water environment in the drug–γCD complex. Since the specific drug binding interactions are essentially the same for βCD and γCD, these differences in the retention of bulk water may account for the enthalpically driven nature of the βCD binding reactions and the entropically driven nature of the γCD binding reactions.  相似文献

An isoperibolic micro-combustion calorimeter was designed, built and set up in our laboratory, taking as base a 1107 Parr combustion bomb of 22 cm3 of volume. Taken into account the geometrical form of the bomb, it was designed and constructed a vessel and a submarine chamber in brass. All of the pieces of the calorimeter were chromium-plated to reduce heat loss by radiation. The calorimeter was calibrated by using pellets of standard benzoic acid (mass approximate of 40 mg) leading to the energy equivalent of ε(calor) = (1283.8 ± 0.6) J · K−1. In order to test the calorimeter, combustion experiments of salicylic acid were performed leading to a value of combustion energy of Δcu = −(21,888.8 ± 10.9) J · g−1, which agrees with the reported literature values. The combustion of piperonylic acid was carried out as a further test leading to a value of combustion energy of Δcu = −(20,215.9 ± 10.4) J · g−1 in accordance with the reported literature value. The uncertainty of the calibration and the combustion of salicylic acid and piperonylic acid was 0.05%.  相似文献

Thorocene [Th(Cot)2] (Cot = η8-C8H8) readily reacts with 2,2′-bipyridine to give [Th(Cot)22-bipy)], which has an unusual bent geometry. This compound is rapidly reduced by KC8 into the anionic derivative [(Th(Cot)22-bipy)]. X-ray diffraction studies suggest the latter to be a Th(IV) compound with the bipyridyl radical anion. These complexes are rare examples of bent actinocene [An(Cot)2(L)]q (q = 0, 1; An = actinide) and bipyridine-containing thorium species.  相似文献

The complex cis-Pt(Ph3Ge)2(PMe2Ph)2 underwent smooth isomerization to give the trans-isomer at room temperature via an associative five-coordinated intermediate. Thermodynamic parameters and activation energy for the cis to trans isomerization were obtained, ΔH# = 105 kJ mol−1, ΔS# = 12.5 J mol−1 K−1, and Ea = 107 kJ mol−1, respectively. Heating of trans-Pt(Ph3Ge)2(PMe2Ph)2 at 50 °C for 36 days produced trans-PtPh(Ph3Ge)(PMe2Ph)2 followed by the formation of trans-PtPh2(PMe2Ph)2, Pt(PMe2Ph)4, and Ph4Ge finally via elimination of the phenyl group from Ph3Ge ligand with liberation of the Ph2Ge unit and subsequent reductive elimination of the remaining Ph3Ge ligand at 80 °C for 1 month.  相似文献

We have measured the densities of aqueous solutions of isoleucine, threonine, and equimolal solutions of these two amino acids with HCl and with NaOH at temperatures 278.15  T/K  368.15, at molalities 0.01  m/mol · kg−1  1.0, and at the pressure 0.35 MPa using a vibrating tube densimeter. The electrochemical measurements were carried out by using thermophilic cytochrome P450 CYP119A2 (P450st) modified with poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) in PEO200 as an electrochemical solvent. The PEO modified P450st gave clear reduction–oxidation peaks by cyclic voltammetry in oxygen-free PEO200 up to 120 °C. The midpoint potential measured for the P450st was −120 mV vs. [Fe(CN)6]4−/[Fe(CN)6]3− at 120 °C. The peak separation, ΔE, was 16 mV at 100 mV/s. The estimated electron transfer rate of PEO-P450st at 120 °C was 35.1 s−1. The faster electron transfer reaction was achieved at higher temperatures. The electrochemical reduction of dioxygen was observed at 115 °C with the PEO-modified P450st system.  相似文献

Two substituted N-acylthioureas and the respective Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes were synthesized, namely: N,N-di-n-butyl-N′-thenoylthiourea (Hnbtu); N,N-di-iso-butyl-N′-thenoylthiourea (Hibtu); bis[N,N-di-n-butyl-N′-thenoylthioureato]nickel(II), [Ni(nbtu)2]; bis[N,N-di-n-butyl-N′-thenoylthioureato]copper(II), [Cu(nbtu)2]; bis[N,N-di-iso-butyl-N′-thenoylthioureato]nickel(II), [Ni(ibtu)2]; bis[N,N-di-iso-butyl-N′-thenoylthioureato]copper(II), [Cu(ibtu)2]. The standard (p° = 0.1 MPa) molar enthalpies of formation and sublimation of the two N-acylthioureas were measured, at T = 298.15 K, by rotating-bomb combustion calorimetry and Calvet microcalorimetry, respectively. The standard (p° = 0.1 MPa) molar enthalpies of formation of the Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes were determined, at T = 298.15 K, by high precision solution–reaction calorimetry. From the results obtained, the enthalpies of hypothetical metal–ligand and metal–metal exchange reactions, in the gaseous phase, were derived, thus allowing a discussion of the gaseous phase energetic difference between the complexation of Ni(II) and Cu(II) to 1,3-ligand systems with (S,O) ligator atoms.  相似文献
