We present experimental observations of polarization vector fields from a highly isotropic microchip laser with a large Fresnel number. The experimental polarization vector field leads to complex entanglement of spatial structures and polarization states. We theoretically derive the representation of generalized coherent states to reconstruct the experimental polarization-resolved patterns. The analytical and precise reconstruction enables the vector singularities to be clearly visualized. 相似文献

Taking phase error, turbulent atmosphere, jitter, vacancy factor and tilt error into consideration, we propose a general propagation formula for both coherent and incoherent combined beams with different kinds of aberrations. Comparative study on the propagation performance of coherent and incoherent combined beams is presented. Beam propagation factor (BPF) defined as laser output power in a specified far-field bucket divided by the total output power radiating from the effective near-field exit aperture of the laser beam is introduced as the beam quality factor to give a quantitative study. It is revealed that the coherent combined beam has great advantage when propagating in free-space compared with the incoherent combined beams. However, the coherent combined beam is more sensitive to the environmental aberrations, and the beam quality degrades faster with an increase in the aberrations’ intensity. Scintillation index as the high moments of the combined intensity field is also studied. It is revealed that both coherent and incoherent combined beams exhibit less scintillations compared with a single-aperture beam, and the incoherent combined beam demonstrates better scintillations reducing the performance. Our methodology offers an all-round performance evaluation on the two kinds of laser systems. 相似文献

研究了两光束的合成方式(相干和非相干合成)对俘获金属瑞利粒子的辐射力和稳定性的影响,着重研究了辐射力与合成方式、离轴距离、相干参数和粒子半径的关系.结果表明,不同合成方式下,离轴距离和相干参数都分别存在临界值dc和αc,在0dc或α>αc时,焦面处光强呈中心凹陷分布,此时横向梯度力不能作为回复力俘获金属瑞利粒子.在0<d≤dc时,与非相干合成光束比较,相干合成光束在焦面处光强、辐射力、俘获刚性和纵向俘获范围更大.因此,适当选择合成方式,较小离轴距离和较低相干参数可有利于合成光束对金属瑞利粒子的俘获. 相似文献

A linear copolymer made of two reciprocally attracting N-monomer blocks collapses to a compact phase through a novel transition, whose exponents are determined with extensive Monte Carlo simulations in two and three dimensions. In the former case, an identification with the statistical geometry of suitable percolation paths allows one to predict that the number of contacts between the blocks grows like N9/16. In the compact phase the blocks are mixed and, in two dimensions, also zipped, in such a way to form a spiral, double chain structure. 相似文献

The propagation-dependent polarization vector fields are experimentally created from an isotropic microchip laser with a longitudinal-transverse coupling and entanglement of the polarization states. The experimental three-dimensional coherent vector fields are analytically reconstructed with a coherent superposition of orthogonal circularly polarized vortex modes. Each polarized component is found to comprise two Laguerre-Gaussian modes with different topological charges. With the analytical representation, the polarization singularities, on which the electric polarization ellipse is purely circular (C lines) or purely linear (L surfaces), are explored. The dynamics of the polarization structure of the speckle field of the photo-induced scattering in LiNbO3:Fe (unsteady regime) has been analyzed with the use of the methods of the modified Stokes polarimetry. It has been shown that the creation and annihilation of pairs of circularly polarized points (C points) in varying singular elliptically polarized fields proceed via two topological scenarios. It has been found that the creation of pairs of C points is preceded by the appearance of a region where the average ellipticity is larger than the values in the neighboring regions. There exists a substantial body of theory that predicts mutual screening of signed topological singularities (topological charges) in random optical fields (speckle patterns). Such screening appears to be rather mysterious because there are neither energetic nor entropic reasons for its existence. We present the first experimental confirmation of mutual screening by the stationary points of the intensity, the canonical optical scalar field, and of mutual screening by C points in elliptically polarized light, the generic optical vector field. We also elucidate specific aspects of the geometry and topology of these fields that we argue give rise to screening. 相似文献

The 3D structure of randomly polarized light fields is exemplified by its polarization singularities: lines along which the polarization is purely circular (C lines) and surfaces on which the polarization is linear (L surfaces). We visualize these polarization singularities experimentally in vector laser speckle fields, and in numerical simulations of random wave superpositions. Our results confirm previous analytical predictions [M. R. Dennis, Opt.
