We recall that at both the intermittency transitions and the Feigenbaum attractor, in unimodal maps of non-linearity of order ζ > 1, the dynamics rigorously obeys the Tsallis statistics. We account for theq-indices and the generalized Lyapunov coefficients λq that characterize the universality classes of the pitchfork and tangent bifurcations. We identify the Mori singularities in the Lyapunov spectrum at the onset of chaos with the appearance of a special value for the entropic indexq. The physical area of the Tsallis statistics is further probed by considering the dynamics near criticality and glass formation in thermal systems. In both cases a close connection is made with states in unimodal maps with vanishing Lyapunov coefficients.  相似文献

We point out that the equivalent-photon approximation (EPA) for processes with massive spin-1 particles in the final state would have validity in a more restricted kinematic domain than for processes where it is commonly applied, viz., those with spin-1/2 or spin-0 particles in the final state. We obtain the criterion for the validity ofEPA for the two-photon production of a pair of charged, massive, point-like spin-1 particlesV ±, each of massM and with a standard magnetic moment (κ=1). In a process in which one of the photons is real and the other virtual with four-momentumq, the condition for the validity ofEPA is |q 2|≪M 2, in addition to the usual condition |q 2|≪W 2,W being theV + V invariant mass. In a process in which both photons are virtual (with four-momentaq andq′), our condition is |q 2||q2|W 4 ≪ 16M 8, in addition to |q 2| ≪M 2, |q2| ≪M 2 and |q 2| ≪W 2, |q2| ≪W 2. Even when these extra conditions permitting the use ofEPA are not fulfilled, convenient approximate expressions may still be obtained assuming merely |q 2| ≪W 2 and |q2| ≪W 2. We also discuss how the extra conditions are altered when the vector bosons are incorporated in a spontaneously broken gauge theory. Examples ofW boson production in Weinberg-Salam model are considered for which the condition |q 2||q2|W 4 ≪ 16M 8 is shown to be removed.  相似文献

The wave mechanics of two impenetrable hard core particles in a 1-D box is analyzed. Each particle in the box behaves like an independent entity represented by a macro-orbital (a kind of pair waveform). While the expectation value of their interaction, 〈 V HC (x) 〉, vanishes for every state of two particles, the expectation value of their relative separation, 〈 x 〉, satisfies 〈 x 〉≥λ/2 (or q ≥ π/d, with 2d=L being the size of the box). The particles in their ground state define a close-packed arrangement of their wave packets (with 〈 x 〉= λ/2, phase position separation Δϕ = 2π and momentum |q o| = π/d) and experience a mutual repulsive force (zero point repulsion) f o =h 2/2md 3 which also tries to expand the box. While the relative dynamics of two particles in their excited states represents usual collisional motion, the same in their ground state becomes collisionless. These results have great significance in determining a correct microscopic understanding of widely different many-body systems.  相似文献

We show that for every set of discrete polynomials y n (x(s)) on the lattice x(s), defined on a finite interval (a, b), it is possible to construct two sets of dual polynomials z k (ξ(t)) of degrees k = s-a and k = b-s-1. Here we do this for the classical and alternative Hahn and Racah polynomials as well as for their q-analogs. Also we establish the connection between classical and alternative families. This allows us to obtain new expressions for the Clerbsch-Gordan and Racah coefficients of the quantum algebra U q (su(2)) in terms of various Hahn and Racah q-polynomials. Motivated by studies onq-deformed physical systems related to quantum group structures, and by the elements of Tsallis statistical mechanics, the concept ofq-deformed nonlinear maps is introduced. As a specific example, aq-deformation procedure is applied to the logistic map. Compared to the canonical logistic map, the resulting family ofq-logistic maps is shown to have a wider spectrum of interesting behaviours, including the co-existence of attractors — a phenomenon rare in one-dimensional maps.  相似文献

The pion momentum distributions (MDs) in four channels of virtual decay p→B+π, B = N, Δ, N 1/2-(1535), N 1/2+(1440) are calculated in two models, the microscopic model of 3 P 0 scalar q−q fluctuation with the pion as a composite q−q-system and the chiral semi-microscopic model of πq interaction with the pion as a structureless Goldstone boson. The results of the above models are similar for the baryon states B = N, Δ, N 1/2-(1535) but are rather different for the Roper resonance N 1/2+(1440) which corresponds to excitation of two oscillator quanta in the nucleon. The experimental investigation of pion MDs by means of the reaction of quasi-elastic knockout of pion by an electron of a few GeV energy p(e, e′ π)B may be very suitable for Jefferson Laboratory, Virginia (JLab).  相似文献

We study a strictly scale-invariant probabilistic N-body model with symmetric, uniform, identically distributed random variables. Correlations are induced through a transformation of a multivariate Gaussian distribution with covariance matrix decaying out from the unit diagonal, as ρ/r α for r =1, 2, ..., N-1, where r indicates displacement from the diagonal and where 0 ⩽ ρ ⩽ 1 and α ⩾ 0. We show numerically that the sum of the N dependent random variables is well modeled by a compact support q-Gaussian distribution. In the particular case of α = 0 we obtain q = (1-5/3 ρ) / (1- ρ), a result validated analytically in a recent paper by Hilhorst and Schehr. Our present results with these q-Gaussian approximants precisely mimic the behavior expected in the frame of non-extensive statistical mechanics. The fact that the N → ∞ limiting distributions are not exactly, but only approximately, q-Gaussians suggests that the present system is not exactly, but only approximately, q-independent in the sense of the q-generalized central limit theorem of Umarov, Steinberg and Tsallis. Short range interaction (α > 1) and long range interactions (α < 1) are discussed. Fitted parameters are obtained via a Method of Moments approach. Simple mechanisms which lead to the production of q-Gaussians, such as mixing, are discussed.   相似文献

The energy spectra of traps in NaCl crystals have been studied in detail by the method of thermoluminescence. Crystals of NaCl were undoped but treated thermally in different ways. The activation energies of traps form a single oscillator series, E n =ℏω TL (n+1/2), ℏω TL =903 cm-1. Contrary to other previously studied crystals with complex lattices, the corresponding line ℏω Ram =ℏω TL was not found in Raman spectra of NaCl. It is assumed that the oscillator rule is governed by the polaron nature of traps. The trap activation energy is determined by the vibration level from which the transition of the charge carrier to the excited luminescence centre is made possible and depends on the distance between these centres.  相似文献

It is shown that the “massless chiral edge excitations” are an integral and universal aspect of the low energy dynamics of the ϑ vacuum that has historically gone unnoticed. Within the SU(M+N)/S(U(MU(N)) non-linear sigma model we introduce an effective theory of “edge excitations” that fundamentally explains the quantum Hall effect. In sharp contrast to the common beliefs in the field our results indicate that this macroscopic quantization phenomenon is, in fact, a super universal strong coupling feature of the ϑ angle with the replica limit M=N=0 only playing a role of secondary importance. To demonstrate super universality we revisit the large N expansion of the CP N−1 model. We obtain, for the first time, explicit scaling results for the quantum Hall effect including quantum criticality of the quantum Hall plateau transition. Consequently a scaling diagram is obtained describing the cross-over between the weak coupling “instanton phase” and the strong coupling “quantum Hall phase” of the large N theory. Our results are in accordance with the “instanton picture” of the ϑ angle but fundamentally invalidate all the ideas, expectations and conjectures that are based on the historical “large N picture.”  相似文献

In this paper we define a new q-special function A n (x, b, c; q). The new function is a generalization of the q-Laguerre function and the Stieltjes–Wigert function. We deduced all the properties of the function A n (x, b, c; q). Finally, lim q1 A n ((1 – q)x, –, 1;q) gives L n (,)(x,q), which is a -modification of the ordinary Laguerre function.  相似文献

I summarize results recently obtained in collaboration with Amelino-Camelia, Bruno and Mandanici (preprint University of Rome “La Sapienza”, August, 2005) that concern an analysis of the path of a massless particle in a q-de Sitter space-time and an approximation scheme suitable for the corresponding analysis in a quantum FRW Universe. On the basis of some arguments in the quantum-gravity literature, the q deformation parameter is assumed to depend on both the Planck scale and the curvature, leading to results that are significantly different from those of other studies of Planck-scale effects in cosmology, where the possibility of an interplay between curvature and Planck scale was ignored. Summary Within the generalized equilibrium statistics recently introduced by Tsallis (p n ∝[1−β(q−-1) εn ]1/(q−)), we calculate the thermal dependence of the specific heat corresponding to a harmonic-oscillator-like spectrum, namely ε n ω(n−α) (∀ω>0,n=0,1,2,...). The influences ofq and α are exhibited. Physically inaccessible and/or thermally frozen gaps are obtained in the low-temperature region, and, forq>1, oscillations are observed in the high-temperature region. We establish a new Howe duality between a pair of two queer Lie superalgebras (q(m),q(n)). This gives a representation theoretic interpretation of a well-known combinatorial identity for Schur Q-functions. We further establish the equivalence between this new Howe duality and the Schur–Sergeev duality between q(n) and a central extension of the hyperoctahedral group H k. We show that the zero-weight space of a q(n)-module with highest weight given by a strict partition of n is an irreducible module over the finite group parameterized by . We investigate the asymmetries arising due to electromagnetic interactions in largeP T pion inclusive processes. The hardqcd processes that contribute to such asymmetries areq+gq+γ,q+qg+γ etc. which are suspected to be substantial, as indicated by theqcd predictions for a significant and increasingγ/π o ratio at largeP T. We calculate the expected isospin related asymmetries and propose tests that might detect them. Our estimates indicate that the effects are much smaller than may be naively expected. We also observe a remarkable scaling of asymmetries in the variableP T/(s)1/2.  相似文献

The ground-state energy of neutral helium is estimated variationally with a trial wavefunction of the form ϕ≈e −γ(rA/a o)ne−γ(rB/a o)n. This model represents a modification of traditional textbook examinations of this problem via inclusion of the power “n” as a second nonlinear variational parameter in addition to the usual effective nuclear charge γ and leads to an upper-limit on the ground state energy of −2.86107 E h (E h =1 hartree) in comparison with the traditional (n=1) result of −2.84766 E h . This result represents a reduction of the percentage overestimate from the true ground-state energy (−2.90373 E h ) of from 1.93 to 1.47. In comparison with the maximum accuracy obtainable from an uncorrelated trial wavefunction, −2.86168 E h , the present trial wavefunction reduces the percentage overestimate from 0.49 (n=1) to 0.021. The optimum values of (n, γ) are determined to be ≈(0.897, 1.825).  相似文献

The integral energy spectrum of primary cosmic rays has been obtained. In the energy range (2.4×103−1.1×105 GeV), the spectrum of all nuclei is consistent with a power law of indexγ=1.55±0.06 and the flux of all nuclei is:N(⩾E 0)⋍(5.1±1.8)×10−1×E 0 −1.55 particles/cm2 sterad. sec., whereE 0 is in GeV. The spectrum of primaryα-particles in the energy range (4.4×103−4.8×104) GeV is also consistent with a power law of indexγ=1.71±0.12 and the flux is:N(⩾E 0)=(4.2±1.4)×10−1×E 0 −1.71 , particles per cm2 sterad. sec, whereE 0 is in GeV.  相似文献

Non perturbative analogues of the Gaussian effective potential (GEP) are defined for quantum oscillators obeyingq—or (q,p)—deformed commutation relations. These are called the non perturbativeq-effective potential (NP q EP) and the non perturbativeqp effective potential (NP qp EP), in the respective cases. A system-specific effective potential (SSEP) is also introduced by means of an additional minimization with respect to theq orq andp parameters. The method is applied toq and (q,p) oscillators of the quartic and sextic types. The SSEP in the case of ground states of theq-oscillators corresponds toq=1, which is the ordinary bosonic limit. A potential shape transition that involves the conversion of a double well to a single well or vice versa, is seen to exist in the case of quantum oscillators sitting in a double well potential.  相似文献

Self-gravitating systems are generally thought to behavior non-extensively due to the long-range nature of gravitational forces. We discuss a relation between the nonextensive parameter q of Tsallis statistics, the temperature gradient and the gravitational potential based on the equation of hydrostatic equilibrium for self-gravitating systems. It is suggested that the nonextensive parameter in Tsallis statistics has a clear physical meaning with regard to the non-isothermal nature of the systems with long-range interactions. Tsallis’ equilibrium distribution for the self-gravitating systems describes the property of hydrostatic equilibrium of the systems.  相似文献

We present exact results for several universal parameters of the tricritical O(n) model in two dimensions. The results apply to the range −2⩽n⩽3/2, and include the central charge and three scaling dimensions, associated with temperature, magnetic field and the introduction of an interface. Since these results are based on an extrapolation of known relations between the O(n) and the Potts model, they cannot be considered as rigorous. For this reason, we perform an accurate numerical analysis of the central charge and the critical exponents. This analysis, which is based on transfer-matrix calculations on the honeycomb lattice, is in a full and precise agreement with the theoretical predictions.   相似文献
