We consider infinitely convolved Bernoulli measures (or simply Bernoulli convolutions) related to the -numeration. A matrix decomposition of these measures is obtained in the case when is a PV number. In this paper we first give the value of a periodic continued fraction which was recorded incorrectly by Ramanujan on page 341 of his lost notebook. Next, we describe several pairs of equivalent continued fractions in which one is the odd part of the other. One of the results is for the Rogers-Ramanujan continued fraction which was recently proved by Berndt and Yee. Finally, using the Bauer-Muir transformation we prove the equivalence of two continued fractions. One was recorded on page 44 in Ramanujan’s lost notebook, and the other is found in the unorganized pages at the end of Ramanujan’s second notebook.This work was supported by Yonsei University Research Fund of 2003.  相似文献

When is a monic polynomial the characteristic polynomial of a symmetric matrix over an integral domain D? Known necessary conditions are shown to be insufficient when D is the field of 2-adic numbers and when D is the rational integers. The latter counterexamples lead to totally real cubic extensions of the rationals whose difierents are not narrowly equivalent to squares. Furthermorex3-4x+1 is the characteristic polynomial of a rational symmetric matrix and is the characteristic polynomial of an integral symmetric p-adic matrix for every prime p, but is not the characteristic polynomial of a rational integral symmetric matrix.  相似文献

In this article we provide generalizations of Specht's theorem which states that two n × n matrices A and B are unitarily equivalent if and only if all traces of words in two non-commuting variables applied to the pairs (A, A*) and (B, B*) coincide. First, we obtain conditions which allow us to extend this to simultaneous similarity or unitary equivalence of families of operators, and secondly, we show that it suffices to consider a more restricted family of functions when comparing traces. Our results do not require the traces of words in (A, A*) and (B, B*) to coincide, but only to be close.  相似文献

Under a general hypothesis an expanding map T of a Riemannian manifold M is known to preserve a measure equivalent to the Liouville measure on that manifold. As a consequence of this and Birkhoff’s pointwise ergodic theorem, the orbits of almost all points on the manifold are asymptotically distributed with regard to this Liouville measure. Let T be Lipschitz of class τ for some τ in (0,1], let Ω(x) denote the forward orbit closure of x and for a positive real number δ and let E(x0, δ) denote the set of points x in M such that the distance from x0 to Ω is at least δ. Let dim A denote the Hausdorff dimension of the set A. In this paper we prove a result which implies that there is a constant C(T) > 0 such that if τ = 1 and if τ < 1. This gives a quantitative converse to the above asymptotic distribution phenomenon. The result we prove is of sufficient generality that a similar result for expanding hyperbolic rational maps of degree not less than two follows as a special case.  相似文献

We study the quasi-strongly regular graphs, which are a combinatorial generalization of the strongly regular and the distance regular graphs. Our main focus is on quasi-strongly regular graphs of grade 2. We prove a “spectral gap”-type result for them which generalizes Seidel's well-known formula for the eigenvalues of a strongly regular graph. We also obtain a number of necessary conditions for the feasibility of parameter sets and some structural results. We propose the heuristic principle that the quasi-strongly regular graphs can be viewed as a “lower-order approximation” to the distance regular graphs. This idea is illustrated by extending a known result from the distance-regular case to the quasi-strongly regular case. Along these lines, we propose a number of conjectures and open problems. Finally, we list the all the proper connected quasi-strongly graphs of grade 2 with up to 12 vertices.  相似文献

All additive maps from SnF to SnF (respectively, MnF) preserving Moore-Penrose inverses of matrices are characterized.
