The behaviour of a hardening Duffing oscillator subjected to narrow band random excitation is examined. The influence of possible jumps, between competing states, on the probability distribution of the response amplitude is addressed. A quasi-harmonic approximation of system behaviour is adopted which is capable of reproducing the observed concave shape of probability functions and compares well with predictions obtained via stochastic averaging techniques and with digital simulations.  相似文献

The problem of suboptimal linear feedback control laws with mean-square criteria for the linear oscillator and the Duffing oscillator under external non-Gaussian excitations is considered. The input process is modeled as a polynomial of a Gaussian process or as a renewal driven impulse process. To determine the suboptimal control, a modified iterative procedure is proposed, where four criteria of statistical linearization are combined with an optimal control strategy. The results indicate that the obtained minima do not depend on the linearization criterion. The nonlinearity tends to reduce this minimum.  相似文献

The stationary probability density function (PDF) solution of the responses of non-linear stochastic oscillators subjected to Poisson pulses is analyzed. The PDF solutions are obtained by the exponential-polynomial closure (EPC) method. To assess the effectiveness of the solution procedure numerically, non-linear oscillators are analyzed with different impulse arrival rates, degree of oscillator non-linearity and excitation intensity. Numerical results show that the PDFs obtained with the EPC method yield good agreement with those obtained from Monte Carlo simulation when the polynomial order is 4 or 6. It is also observed that the EPC procedure is the same as the equivalent linearization procedure under Gaussian white noise in the case of the polynomial order being 2.  相似文献

The effects of the Gaussian white noise excitation on structural safety due to erosion of safe basin in Duffing oscillator with double potential wells are studied in the present paper. By employing the well-developed stochastic Melnikov condition and Monte–Carlo method, various eroded basins are simulated in deterministic and stochastic cases of the system, and the ratio of safe initial points (RSIP) is presented in some given limited domain defined by the system’s Hamiltonian for various parameters or first-passage times. It is shown that structural safety control becomes more difficult when the noise excitation is imposed on the system, and the fractal basin boundary may also appear when the system is excited by Gaussian white noise only. From the RSIP results in given limited domain, sudden discontinuous descents in RSIP curves may occur when the system is excited by harmonic or stochastic forces, which are different from the customary continuous ones in view of the first-passage problems. In addition, it is interesting to find that RSIP values can even increase with increasing driving amplitude of the external harmonic excitation when the Gaussian white noise is also present in the system. The safe basin of a forced softening Duffing oscillator is studied numerically. The changes of safe basins are observed under both stationary and nonstationary variations of the external excitation frequency. The kind of nonstationary variations of the excitation frequency can greatly change the erosion rate and the shape of the safe basin. The other effects of nonstationary variations on the safe basin are also discussed. The stochastic jump and bifurcation of Duffing oscillator with fractional derivative damping of order α (0<α<1) under combined harmonic and white noise excitations are studied. First, the system state is approximately represented by two-dimensional time-homogeneous diffusive Markov process of amplitude and phase difference using the stochastic averaging method. Then, the method of reduced Fokker–Plank–Kolmogorov (FPK) equation is used to predict the stationary response of the original system. The phenomenon of stochastic jump and bifurcation as the fractional orders' change is examined.  相似文献

The principal resonance of Duffing oscillator to combined deterministic and random external excitation was investigated. The random excitation was taken to be white noise or harmonic with separable random amplitude and phase. The method of multiple scales was used to determine the equations of modulation of amplitude and phase. The one peak probability density function of each of the two stable stationary solutions was calculated by the linearization method. These two one-peak-density functions were combined using the probability of realization of the two stable stationary solutions to obtain the double peak probability density function. The theoretical analysis are verified by numerical results.  相似文献

It is a well-known phenomenon of the Duffing oscillator under harmonic excitation, that there is a frequency range, where two stable and one unstable stationarysolution coexist. If the Duffing oscillator is harmonically excited in thisfrequency range and additionally excited, e.g. by white noise, a double crater-likeprobability density function can be observed, if the noise intensity is smallcompared to the harmonic excitation. The aim of this paper is to calculate thisprobability density function approximately using perturbation techniques. Thestationary solutions in the deterministic case are calculated using theperturbation technique for the resonance case. In a second step, the probabilitydensity function of the perturbation of each of those stationary solutions iscalculated using the perturbation technique for the nonresonance case. This resultsin two crater-like probability density functions which are superimposed by usingthe probability of realization of each of the stationary solutions in thedeterministic case. The probability is calculated using numerical integration orthe method of slowly changing phase and amplitude. Finally, probability densityfunctions obtained in this manner are compared to Monte Carlo simulations.  相似文献

A method for controlling nonlinear dynamics and chaos previouslydeveloped by the authors is applied to the classical Duffing oscillator. The method, which consists in choosing the best shape of externalperiodic excitations permitting to avoid the transverse intersection ofthe stable and unstable manifolds of the hilltop saddle, is firstillustrated and then applied by using the Melnikov method foranalytically detecting homoclinic bifurcations. Attention is focused onoptimal excitations with a finite number of superharmonics, because theyare theoretically performant and easy to reproduce. Extensive numericalinvestigations aimed at confirming the theoretical predictions andchecking the effectiveness of the method are performed. In particular, the elimination of the homoclinic tangency and the regularization offractal basins of attraction are numerically verified. The reduction ofthe erosion of the basins of attraction is also investigated in detail, and the paper ends with a study of the effects of control on delayingcross-well chaotic attractors.  相似文献

Systems characterized by the governing equation of the bistable, double-well Duffing oscillator are ever-present throughout the fields of science and engineering. While the prediction of the transient dynamics of these strongly nonlinear oscillators has been a particular research interest, the sufficiently accurate reconstruction of the dissipative behaviors continues to be an unrealized goal. In this study, an enhanced averaging method using Jacobian elliptic functions is presented to faithfully predict the transient, dissipative dynamics of a bistable Duffing oscillator. The analytical approach is uniquely applied to reconstruct the intrawell and interwell dynamic regimes. By relaxing the requirement for small variation of the transient, averaged parameters in the proposed solution formulation, the resulting analytical predictions are in excellent agreement with exact trajectories of displacement and velocity determined via numerical integration of the governing equation. A wide range of system parameters and initial conditions are utilized to assess the accuracy and computational efficiency of the analytical method, and the consistent agreement between numerical and analytical results verifies the robustness of the proposed method. Although the analytical formulations are distinct for the two dynamic regimes, it is found that directly splicing the inter- and intrawell predictions facilitates good agreement with the exact dynamics of the full reconstructed, transient trajectory.  相似文献

Noise-Induced Chaos in Duffing Oscillator with Double Wells   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Stochastic Melnikov method is employed to predict noise-induced chaotic response in the Duffing oscillator with double wells. The safe basin is simulated to show the noise-induced fractal boundary. Three cases are considered: harmonic excitation, both harmonic and Gaussian white noise excitations, and Gaussian white noise excitation. The leading Lyapunov exponent estimated by Rosenstein's algorithm is shown to quantify the chaotic nature of the sample time series of the system. The results show that the boundary of the safe basin can be fractal even if the system is excited only by external Gaussian white noise.  相似文献

Response statistics of van der Pol oscillators excited by white noise   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The joint probability density function of the state space vector of a white noise exoited van der Pol oscillator satisfics a Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov (FPK) equation. The paper describes a numerical procedure for solving the transient FPK equation based on the path integral solution (PIS) technique. It is shown that by combining the PIS with a cubic B-spline interpolation method, numerical solution algorithms can be implemented giving solutions of the FPK equation that can be made accurate down to very low probability levels. The method is illustrated by application to two specific examples of a van der Pol oscillator.  相似文献

A Duffing oscillator frictionally interacting with a moving belt under a quasiperiodic load is studied. The multiple-scales method is used to derive a system of two nonautonomous equations with small parameters, which describes the modulation of vibrations. It is shown that the system of modulation equations has a heteroclinic structure. Melnikov functions are used to analyze the domain of heteroclinic chaos __________ Translated from Prikladnaya Mekhanika, Vol. 42, No. 9, pp. 127–133, September 2006.  相似文献

Noise is present in a wide variety of engineering systems, and it can play a significant role in influencing system dynamics. Under the influence of noise, it has been shown that the response of many discrete-time dynamical systems can be moved away from a particular region. In the present study, the partial control scheme constructed for a chaotic system is applied for confining the trajectories inside a particular region despite the presence of white noise. The proposed algorithm is independent of the dimension of the system. As an illustration, the partial control method has been applied to restrict the response of a Duffing oscillator to a certain state-space region. Different noise forms are considered and numerical results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of this control method.  相似文献

The Laguerre polynomial approximation method is applied to study the stochastic period-doubling bifurcation of a double-well stochastic Duffing system with a random parameter of exponential probability density function subjected to a harmonic excitation. First, the stochastic Duffing system is reduced into its equivalent deterministic one, solvable by suitable numerical methods. Then nonlinear dynamical behavior about stochastic period-doubling bifurcation can be fully explored. Numerical simulations show that similar to the conventional period-doubling phenomenon in the deterministic Duffing system, stochastic period-doubling bifurcation may also occur in the stochastic Duffing system, but with its own stochastic modifications. Also, unlike the deterministic case, in the stochastic case the intensity of the random parameter should also be taken as a new bifurcation parameter in addition to the conventional bifurcation parameters, i.e. the amplitude and the frequency of harmonic excitation.  相似文献

The principal resonance of a Duffing oscillator with delayed state feedback under narrow-band random parametric excitation is studied by using the method of multiple scales and numerical simulations. The first-order approximations of the solution, together with the modulation equations of both amplitude and phase, are derived. The effects of the frequency detuning, the deterministic amplitude, the intensity of the random excitation and the time delay on the dynamical behaviors, such as stability and bifurcation, are studied through the largest Lyapunov exponent. Moreover, the appropriate choice of the feedback gains and the time delay is discussed from the viewpoint of vibration control. It is found that the appropriate choice of the time delay can broaden the stable region of the trivial steady-state solution and enhance the control performance. The theoretical results are well verified through numerical simulations.

A solution procedure for the stationary probability density function (PDF) of the responses of nonlinear oscillators subjected to Poisson white noises is formulated with exponential-polynomial closure (EPC) method. The effectiveness of the solution procedure is investigated with nonlinear oscillators subjected to both external and multiplicative Poisson white noises at different levels of system nonlinearity, excitation intensity, and impulse arrival rates. Numerical results show that the PDFs obtained with the EPC procedure are in good agreement with those from Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

The dynamics of non-smooth oscillators has not yet sufficiently been investigated, when damping is simultaneously due to friction and impact. Because of the theoretical and practical interest of this type of systems, an effort is made in this paper to lighten the behaviour of a single-degree-of-freedom oscillator colliding with an obstacle and excited by a moving base, which transfers energy to the system via friction. The different nature of discontinuities arising in the combined problem of friction and impact has been recognized and discussed. Closed-form solutions are presented for both transient and steady-state response, assuming Coulomb's friction law and a rigid stop-limiting motion. Furthermore, a deformable (hysteretic) obstacle has been considered, and its influence on the response has been investigated.  相似文献
