Optical-resonance-Raman scattering by acoustic phonons is used to study the effect of an electric field on the state of excitons in GaAs/AlAs superlattices. When the energy of the exciting photon coincides with the energy of an exciton bound to Wannier-Stark states of a heavy hole and electron with Δn=0,±1, the acoustic Raman scattering is enhanced. Oscillations in the intensity of the Raman spectrum in the electric field are explained by resonance delocalization of the exciton ground state as it interacts with Wannier-Stark states of neighboring quantum wells or with Wannier-Stark states of a higher electron miniband. The coefficient of absorption of electromagnetic radiation by a quasi-two-dimensional electron gas placed in an oblique magnetic field is found. The scattering of electrons by optical phonons is shown to lead to resonant absorption. The shape of the resonance peaks on the absorption curve is studied, and their doublet nature is demonstrated. The skyrmionic mass is calculated using a gradient expansion method. A special cyclotron resonance is predicted, with a frequency determined by the exchange energy. The purely thermal infrared emission spectra of a resonance medium (sodium vapor) are investigated experimentally. It is shown that the emission intensity in the 2–3 μm range at temperatures of 600–1200 K is several orders of magnitude higher than the intensity obtained from the standard theory of resonance radiation transfer. This phenomenon can be conventionally termed an “infrared catastrophe.” The form of the recorded spectra and the absolute intensity of the emission in both the infrared and visible regions of the spectrum are in agreement with the theory developed by Yu. L. Zemtsov and A. M. Starostin, Zh. éksp. Teor. Splitting of the cyclotron resonance (CR) line is observed in the electron CR spectra of InAs/GaSb heterostructures containing tunneling-coupled electron and hole layers. This splitting is interpreted to be a manifestation of a hybridization gap arising as a result of anticrossing of the Landau levels of electrons and holes when their wave functions overlap. The energy splitting of the CR lines is correlated with the magnitude of the overlap and agrees with theoretical estimates of the hybridization gap width. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. This report is a continuation of an analysis, initiated elsewhere V.V. Vecheslavov and B. V. Chirikov, Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 114, 1516 (1998) [JETP 86, 823 (1998)], of the effect of splitting of the separatrix of a nonlinear resonance for the model of standard mapping, based on results of direct measurements of the splitting angle α(K), where K is the system parameter. Measurements were made in the previously used wide range 0.1≳α≳10−208 (1⩾K⩾0.0004), but with significantly higher relative (better than 1050) and average (∼10−55) accuracy. This procedure made it possible to substantially refine the effects observed in Ref. 1 and construct qualitatively new empirical dependences providing reliable extrapolation of the data obtained for the angle and the invariant in the intermediate asymptotic limit K≲10−2 beyond the limits of the investigated region. The results obtained by us can be useful for further development of the theory of separatrix splitting and formation of the stochastic layer of a nonlinear resonance. Zh. éksp. Teor. Highly sensitive methods for the detection of the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra based on the spin-dependent microwave photoconductivity were applied to investigate the structural defects in irradiated silicon. Magnetic resonance at frequencies 22–75 GHz is investigated in pure single-crystalline CuGeO3 in the temperature range 1.2–25 K. At temperatures below 4 K the magnetic resonance line splits into four spectral components. The line close to the ESR of the paramagnetic phase is associated with impurities or defects. The other three lines have the same intensity in different samples and are apparently characteristic for pure single crystals at low temperature. An antiferromagnetic resonance with two resonance absorption branches and a spectrum characteristic for an antiferromagnet with easy, average, and hard anisotropy axes was observed and investigated in the Néel compound Cu0.98Zn0.02GeO3 with diamagnetic dilution of the spin subsystem. The effect of white noise on phase synchronization is studied numerically for a classical model of a spring pendulum with a multiple ratio of the frequencies of small oscillations (Vitt-Gorelik model). It is shown that in the model investigated a Fermi resonance regime occurs for a system in a thermostat. A new type of nonlinear dynamics is found — stochastic resonance between limit cycles. The magnetoelastic contribution ΔĈ (3) to the effective third-order elastic constants Ĉ (3) ef is determined; it describes the additional elastic anharmonicity induced by nonlinear spin-spin and spin-phonon interactions in ferromagnets. In the vicinity of magnetoacoustic resonance, this anharmonicity can be manifested in three-frequency elastic wave interactions, producing magnetoacoustic mode-frequency transformation effects. It is shown that these effects are magnified in resonance as the result of a huge increase (by several orders of magnitude) in the dynamic elastic constants ΔĈ (3). A new effect [V. V. Vecheslavov, Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 109, 2208 (1996) (JETP 82, 1190 (1996)]—the appearance of low-frequency secondary harmonics in the separatrix mapping of a system—is discussed in detail for the example of a pendulum with a two-frequency perturbation. It is shown that there exist regions of values of the perturbation parameters where these harmonics make the main contribution to the formation of the chaotic layer of the fundamental resonance. The possibility of resonance during elastic intravalley scattering in n-type semiconductors is investigated in connection with the crossing (due to anisotropy of the effective mass) of the energy levels of excited states of a shallow donor as functions of the magnetic field. The hybridization of states of different frequencies in the vicinity of a crossing is attributed to the emergence of a nonzero dipole moment of the excited impurity atom and, accordingly, a long-range potential, which creates carrier-transport anomalies. The lower part of the donor spectrum is calculated as a function of the magnetic field in Si with B∥〈001〉 and in Ge with B∥〈111〉 or B∥〈110〉. A crossing occurs in Ge in the field range 9.9 T<B<16.7 T and in Si in the field range 10.5 T<B<37.7 T. The characteristic longitudinal relaxation time and the transverse conductivity, which are determined by scattering at excited donors in the presence of the hybridization of states, are calculated. A contribution to electromagnetic power losses, additional to the losses due to eddy currents and exhibiting a resonance frequency dependence with the main maximum near 1 GHz, has been observed for the ferromagnetic alloy Pd2AuFe in the frequency range 0.9 MHz–10 GHz in the absence of an external constant magnetic field. Investigations performed in a dc magnetic field show that this effect is a natural ferromagnetic resonance due to intradomain magnetization precession in the effective magnetic-anisotropy field. Fiz. A theory is proposed to describe holograms in thin photorefractive crystals and the self-diffraction of two writing laser beams, one of which is periodically modulated in phase. In linear approximation with respect to the amplitude of the phase modulation, expressions are derived for the AC component of the intensity of various diffraction orders. Oscillations in the intensity are observed having a well-defined resonance character connected with excitation of photorefraction waves, and the frequency position of the resonance peaks is related to the period of the grating by the dispersion law of these oscillations. EPR and 7Li NMR measurements were performed in the distorted inverse spinel V(LiCu)O4 down to 1.5 K. Anisotropy effects on magnetic resonance spectra due to the Jahn-Teller distortion of the oxygen octahedra surrounding the copper ions are discussed. The estimation of the spin-spin interactions deduced from the EPR-relaxation rate Δ H reveals a situation comparable to the prototypical one-dimensional S = 1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet CuGeO3. Approaching three-dimensional antiferromagnetic order ( T N ≈ 2 K) from above, both magnetic relaxation rates, Δ H EPR and 7 (1/ T 1 ), respectively, exhibit nearly the same critical divergence reminding to the onset of three-dimensional order in two-dimensional layered systems. Magnetoacoustic resonance on nuclear spin waves is measured in the cubic antiferromagnet RbMnF3. A resonance change with respect to a constant magnetic field H 0 with maximum damping at H 0≈4×103 Oe is observed in the amplitude of an acoustic pulse passing through a sample owing to excitation of nuclear spin waves under nuclear magnetoacoustic resonance conditions. A study of the angular dependence of the damping revealed a 90° periodicity consistent with the fact that the [001] direction, around which the rotation takes place, is a four-fold axis of the crystal. An analysis of the dispersion law for nuclear spin waves shows that longitudinal ultrasound propagating along the [001] axis perpendicular to H 0 excites a branch of nuclear spin waves whose frequency depends on the magnitude of the constant magnetic field.
