We studied surface organization of lipophilic guanosine derivatives with one, two and three alkanoyl tails in thin films on water surface and in Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films transferred onto freshly cleaved mica substrate. The derivative with one alkanoyl group exhibits irreversible pressure-area isotherms and ribbon-like LB film structures. The derivatives with two and three side groups show reversible isotherms with similar critical surface pressures, while their LB film structures are quite different. The derivative with two tails forms films with flat terraces of micrometer size, while the derivative with three tails exhibits irregular thread-shaped assemblies. These observations demonstrate that molecular assembly of LB films of guanosine derivatives can be effectively manipulated by altering the number of attached lipophilic groups. 相似文献

Thin films containing both the azo-dye disperse red 1 (DR1) and the poly(methylmetacrylate) (PMMA) or the poly(phenylenevinylene) (PPV) are deposited by Langmuir-Blodgett and spin coating techniques on various substrates. The morphology, surface structure and growth pattern of the azo-dye-polymers were studied by atomic force microscopy. Nucleation and growth processes are responsible for the generation of different structures. The spin coated films were additionally oriented using the electric field poling method (corona poling). The film homogeneity is improved by this method in all cases. Due to the polar character of DR1 molecules, rod-like sub-structures are observed after the corona poling process in DR1-MMA films. The indium tin oxide surface enhances reorientation of the azo-dye-polymer molecules during corona poling and results in a significant reduction of the surface roughness. 相似文献

Mono and multilayer of water-soluble pyronin B (PyB) and pyronin Y (PyY) mixed with stearic acid (SA) have been incorporated in Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films. The surface pressure-area (π-A) isotherm studies pointed out that pure PyB and PyY are incapable of forming stable films at air-water interface and collapsed readily at low surface pressures. However, mixture of PyB or PyY with SA easily formed stable films at the air-water interface and they were easily transferred onto solid substrates. The average area per molecule of mixed films of PyB and PyY at the air-water interface was observed to decrease with increasing concentrations of PyB and PyY. The spectroscopic characteristics of PyB and PyY in chloroform, in SA containing chloroform and in LB films have also been investigated by using absorption and steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy techniques. The morphology of the LB film surfaces has been characterized by using atomic force microscopy (AFM). 相似文献

Surface preparation procedures for indium gallium nitride (InGaN) thin films were analyzed for their effectiveness for carbon and oxide removal as well as for the resulting surface roughness. Aqua regia (3:1 mixture of concentrated hydrochloric acid and concentrated nitric acid, AR), hydrofluoric acid (HF), hydrochloric acid (HCl), piranha solution (1:1 mixture of sulfuric acid and 30% H2O2) and 1:9 ammonium sulfide:tert-butanol were all used along with high temperature anneals to remove surface contamination. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were utilized to study the extent of surface contamination and surface roughness, respectively. The ammonium sulfide treatment provided the best overall removal of oxygen and carbon. Annealing over 700 °C after a treatment showed an even further improvement in surface contamination removal. The piranha treatment resulted in the lowest residual carbon, while the ammonium sulfide treatment leads to the lowest residual oxygen. AFM data showed that all the treatments decreased the surface roughness (with respect to as-grown specimens) with HCl, HF, (NH4)2S and RCA procedures giving the best RMS values (∼0.5-0.8 nm). 相似文献

Nickel thin films were deposited on glass substrates at different N2 gas contents using a dc triode sputtering deposition system. Triode configuration was used to deposit nanostructured thin films with preferred orientation at lower gas pressure and at lower substrate temperature compared to the dc diode sputtering system. A gradual evolution in the composition of the films from Ni, Ni(N), to Ni3N was found by X-ray diffraction analysis. The preferred growth orientation of the nanostructured Ni films changed from (1 1 1) to (1 0 0) for 9% N2 at 100 °C. Ni3N films were formed at 23% N2 with a particle size of about 65 nm, while for 0% and 9% of nitrogen, the particles sizes were 60 nm, and 37 nm, respectively, as obtained by atomic force microscopy. Magnetic force microscopy imaging showed that the local magnetic structure changed from disordered stripe domains of about 200 nm for Ni and Ni(N) to a structure without a magnetic contrast, indicating the paramagnetic state of this material, which confirmed the structural transformation from Ni to Ni3N. 相似文献

The pulsed laser deposition technique was used to produce zinc oxide thin films onto silicon and Corning glass substrates. Homogeneous surfaces exhibiting quite small Root Mean Square (RMS) roughness, consisting of shaped grains were obtained, their grain diameters being 40-90 nm at room temperature and at 650 °C growth respectively. Films were polycrystalline, even for growth at room temperature, with preferential crystallite orientation the (0 0 2) basal plane of wurtzite ZnO. Temperature increase caused evolution from grain to grain agglomeration structures, improving crystallinity. Compressive to tensile stresses transition with temperature was found while the lattice constant decreased. 相似文献

Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is used to measure the surface roughness of crystalline Pt thin films as a function of film thickness and growth rate. Our films were electrodeposited on Au/Cr/glass substrates, under galvanostatic control (constant current density), from a single electrolyte containing Pt4+ ions. Crystalline structure of the films was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. The effect of growth rate (deposition current density) and film thickness (deposition time) on the kinetic roughening of the films were studied using AFM and roughness calculation. The data is consistent with a rather complex behaviour known as “anomalous scaling” where both local and large scale roughnesses show power law dependence on the film thickness. 相似文献

Effects of the annealing temperature on structural, optical and surface properties of chemically deposited cadmium zinc sulfide (CdZnS) films were investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results showed that the grown CdZnS thin films formed were polycrystalline with hexagonal structure. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) studies showed that the surface roughness of the CdZnS thin films was about 60-400 nm. Grain sizes of the CdZnS thin films varied between 70 and 300 nm as a function of annealing temperature. The root mean square surface roughness of the selected area, particular point, average roughness profile, topographical area of roughness were measured using the reported AFM software. The band gaps of CdZnS thin films were determined from absorbance measurements in the visible range as 300 nm and 1100 nm, respectively, using Tauc theory. 相似文献

The scanning force microscope (SFM) was used to investigate morphology of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) blend. The effect of solvent and dewetting in surface structure of PEO film was reported. The results manifested that the crystallization of PEO could be suppressed completely in ultrathin region via using chloroform as a solvent, and the branched-like crystallization was recovered after dewetting. Also, the effect of thickness, the ratio of PEO/PAA and dewetting in surface morphology of PEO-PAA blend films were investigated. These results showed that the crystallization was highly dependent on the ratio of PEO/PAA and the thickness of blend film. Furthermore, we assembled the PEO/PAA layer-by-layer film by spin-casting method for the first time, which exhibited highly efficiency. As a complementary tool, we also used lateral force microscopy (LFM) to explore surface information of these films. The result was indicative of interfacial constraints in ultrathin region, and also was supported by the results showing the spin-casting PEO/PAA blends rather than heterogeneous mixture. 相似文献

Nanodefects induced by nanoindentation on thin polystyrene (PS) films spin cast on silicon (Si) relax upon annealing at 110 °C. The relaxation process for low molecular weight PS is interpreted in terms of a curvature driven flow which leads to the measurement of a diffusion coefficient. The latter is compared with the expected Rouse predictions using (i) bulk and (ii) surface glass transition temperature data, found in the literature. Deviations from the Rouse predictions are observed when is used for the analysis of the data. On the contrary, excellent agreement with the Rouse model is reported when is used. 相似文献

Effects of atomic oxygen treatment on structures, morphologies and electrical properties of ZnO:Al films 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
ZnO:Al (ZAO) film has a potential application in providing spacecrafts the protection against atomic oxygen (AO) erosion. To advance the understanding of the AO resisting mechanisms and the relationships between the structures, morphologies and conductive properties of ZAO film, direct current magnetron sputtered ZAO films with different thicknesses were treated with AO in a ground-based simulation facility. The microstructure, surface chemical state, morphologies and electrical properties of pristine films and irradiated ones were characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy and Hall measurement. It is found that AO exposure produces novel, oriented recrystallization of the surface particles. It also increases the content of oxygen ions in fully oxidized stoichiometric surroundings on the surface, resulting in the decrease of the conductivity. As the thickness of ZAO film increases, the crystallinity, conductivity and resistance to AO erosion are all improved. 相似文献

A crystallization and surface evolution study of Au thin film on SiO2 substrates following annealing at different temperatures above the eutectic point of the Au/Si system are reported. Samples were prepared by conventional evaporation of gold in a high vacuum (10−7 mbar) environment on substrates at room temperature. Thermal treatments were performed by both furnace and flame annealing techniques. Au thin films can be crystallized on SiO2 substrates by both furnace and flame annealing. Annealing arranges the Au crystallites in the (1 1 1) plane direction and changes the morphology of the surface. Both, slow and rapid annealing result in a good background in the XRD spectra and hence clean and complete crystallization which depends more on the temperature than on the time of annealing. The epitaxial temperature for the Au/SiO2 system decreases in the range of 350-400 °C. Furnace and flame annealing also form crystallized gold islands over the Au/SiO2 surface. Relaxation at high temperatures of the strained Au layer, obtained after deposition, should be responsible for the initial stages of clusters formation. Gold nucleation sites may be formed at disordered points on the surface and they become islands when the temperature and time of annealing are increased. The growth rate of crystallites is highest around 360 °C. Above this temperature, the layer melts and gold diffuses from the substrate to the nucleation sites to increase the distance between islands and modify their shapes. Well above the eutectic temperature, the relaxed islands have hexagonally shaped borders. The mean crystallite diameters grow up to a maximum mean size of around 90 nm. The free activation energy for grain boundary migration above 360 °C is 0.2 eV. Therefore the type of the silicon substrate changes the mechanism of diffusion and growth of crystallites during annealing of the Au/Si system. Epitaxial Au(1 1 1) layers without formation of islands can be prepared by furnace annealing in the range of 300-310 °C and by flame annealing of a few seconds and up to 0.5 min. 相似文献

In this work, low-pressure air plasma has been used to improve polyethylene terephthalate (PET) surface properties for technical applications. Surface free energy values have been estimated using contact angle value for different exposure times and different test liquids. Surface composition and morphology of the films were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Surface topography changes related with the etching mechanism have been followed by weight loss study. The results show a considerable improvement in surface wettability and the surface free energy values even for short exposure times in the different discharge areas (discharge area, afterglow area and remote area), as observed by a remarkable decrease in contact angle values. Change of chemical composition made the polymer surfaces to be highly hydrophilic, which mainly depends on the increase in oxygen-containing groups. In addition to, the surface activation and AFM analyses show obvious changes in surface topography as a consequence of the plasma-etching mechanism. 相似文献

Field emission properties of a-C and a-C:H films deposited on silicon surfaces modified with nickel nanoparticles 下载免费PDF全文
The a-C and a-C:H films are deposited on silicon surfaces modified with and without nickel nanoparticles by using mid-frequency magnetron sputtering. The microstructures and morphologies of the films are analyzed by Raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy. Field emission behaviors of the deposited films with and without nickel nanoparticles modification are comparatively investigated. It is found that the hydrogen-free carbon film exhibits a high field emission current density and low turn-on electric field compared with the hydrogenated carbon film. Nickel modifying could increase the current density, whereas it has no significant effect on the turn-on electric field. The mechanism of field electron emission of a sample is discussed from the surface morphologies of the films and nickel nanoparticle roles in the interface between film and substrate. 相似文献

Zirconium doped zinc oxide thin films with enhanced optical transparency were prepared on Corning 1737 glass substrates at the substrate temperature of 400 °C by spray pyrolysis method for various doping concentrations of zirconium (IV) chloride in the spray solution. The X-ray diffraction studies reveal that the films exhibit hexagonal crystal structure with polycrystalline grains oriented along (0 0 2) direction. The crystalline quality of the films is found to be deteriorating with the increase of doping concentration and acquires amorphous state for higher concentration of 8 at.% in precursor solution. The average transmittance for 5 at.% (solution) zirconium doped ZnO film is significantly increased to ∼92% in the visible region of 500-800 nm. The room temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectra of films show a band edge between 3.41 and 3.2 eV and strong blue emission at 2.8 eV irrespective of doping concentration and however intensity increases consistently with doping levels. The vacuum annealing at 400 °C reduced the resistivity of the films significantly due to the coalescence of grains and the lowest resistivity of 2 × 10−3 Ω cm is observed for 3 at.% (solution) Zr doped ZnO films which envisages that it is a good candidate for stable TCO material. 相似文献

Several ultrathin luminescent Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films have been prepared by using the subphase containing the rare earth ions (Eu3+, Dy3+). The effect of the rare earth ions on the monolayer of p-dodecanoyloxybenzoate (12-OBA) and p-myristoyloxybenzoate (14-OBA) was investigated. IR spectra showed the rare earth ions were bound to the carboxylic acid head groups and the coordination took place between the polar head group and the rare earth ions. The layer structure of the LB films was demonstrated by low-angle X-ray diffraction. The AFM study revealed that the LB films were uniform and crack free, and the films mainly consisted of closely packed grains with an average size of 241 nm. The LB films can give off strong fluorescence, and the signal can be detected from a single layer. The characteristic luminescence behaviors of LB films have been discussed compared with those of the complexes. 相似文献

Results of experimental studies of the influence of substrate preparation on the surface chemistry and surface morphology of the laser-assisted chemical vapour deposition (L-CVD) SnO2 thin films are presented in this paper. The native Si(1 0 0) substrate cleaned by UHV thermal annealing (TA) as well as thermally oxidized Si(1 0 0) substrate cleaned by ion bombardment (IBA) have been used as the substrates. X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) has been used for the control of surface chemistry of the substrates as well as of deposited films. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) has been used to control the surface morphology of the L-CVD SnO2 thin films deposited on differently prepared substrates. Our XPS shows that the L-CVD SnO2 thin films deposited on thermally oxidized Si(1 0 0) substrate after cleaning with ion bombardment exhibit the same stoichiometry, i.e. ratio [O]/[Sn] = 1.30 as that of the layers deposited on Si(1 0 0) substrate previously cleaned by UHV prolonged heating. AFM shows that L-CVD SnO2 thin films deposited on thermally oxidized Si(1 0 0) substrate after cleaning with ion bombardment exhibit evidently increasing rough surface topography with respect to roughness, grain size range and maximum grain height as the L-CVD SnO2 thin films deposited on atomically clean Si substrate at the same surface chemistry (nonstoichiometry) reflect the higher substrate roughness after cleaning with ion bombardment. 相似文献

The preparation of very thin (at the scale of a few tens of nanometers) gold films by thermal evaporation and deposition on a solid substrate (glass) remains a key step for the elaboration of transparent and sensitive optical biosensors. We study the influence of the glass surface treatment and its thermal conductivity on the structure and composition of evaporated gold films. Using a combination of atomic force microscopy (AFM), high resolution surface plasmon resonance (SPR) imaging, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), we demonstrate that the grafting of a layer of long chain mercaptant, using 11-mercaptoundecyltrimethoxysilane (SξSi), prior to gold deposition produces a drastic modification of gold inner and surface textures. A thorough investigation of AFM image topography by 2D wavelet-based segmentation method reveals the flat conical shape of the gold surface grains and their shape invariance with the glass surface chemical treatment. However, this treatment leads to a drastic decrease of the mean size and polydispersity of these grains by a factor of 2, thereby lowering the gold surface roughness. The rationale is that the combination of surface forces and thermal transfer drives the formation of homogeneous and flatter gold films. 相似文献

We report on the growth of ultra-thin bismuth films on the basal plane of highly ordered pyrolitic graphite (HOPG) substrates. Scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy have been used to characterize the morphology, and the crystallographic orientation was obtained using electron back scatter diffraction. Low coverage films are comprised of islands with a striped surface morphology, and show the orientation relationship with preferred in-plane orientations . With increasing film thickness, we identify an unusual orientation transformation to the commonly found Bi{0 0 0 1} (trigonal) orientation. 相似文献
