Fe3O4 nanoparticles were hydrothermally synthesized under continuous microwave irradiation from FeCl3·6H2O and FeSO4·7H2O aqueous solutions, using NH4OH as precipitating reagent and N2H4·H2O as oxidation-resistant reagent. The results of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), FT–IR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements showed that the synthesized magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles had an average diameter of 10 nm. The magnetic properties of the Fe3O4 nanoparticles were measured using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), indicating that the nanoparticles possessed high saturation magnetization at room temperature. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles were used to prepare magnetic fluids (MFs) based on water, and the properties of the MFs were characterized by a Gouy magnetic balance, a capillary rheometer and a rotating rheometer, respectively.  相似文献

Size controlled cubic Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the size range 90–10 nm were synthesized by varying the ferric ion concentration using the oxidation method. A bimodal size distribution was found without ferric ion concentration and the monodispersity increased with higher concentration. The saturation magnetization decreased from 90 to 62 emu/g when the particle size is reduced to 10 nm. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles with average particle sizes 10 and 90 nm were surface modified with prussian blue. The attachment of prussian blue with Fe3O4 was found to depend on the concentration of HCl and the particle size. The saturation magnetization of prussian blue modified Fe3O4 varied from 10 to 80 emu/g depending on the particle size. The increased tendency for the attachment of prussian blue with smaller particle size was explained based on the surface charge. The prussian blue modified magnetite nanoparticles could be used as a radiotoxin remover in detoxification applications.  相似文献

Superparamagnetic silica-coated magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles with immobilized metal affinity ligands were prepared for protein adsorption. First, magnetite nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitating Fe2+ and Fe3+ in an ammonia solution. Then silica was coated on the Fe3O4 nanoparticles using a sol–gel method to obtain magnetic silica nanoparticles. The condensation product of 3-Glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GLYMO) and iminodiacetic acid (IDA) was immobilized on them and after charged with Cu2+, the magnetic silica nanoparticles with immobilized Cu2+ were applied for the adsorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA). Scanning electron micrograph showed that the magnetic silica nanoparticles with an average size of 190 nm were well dispersed without aggregation. X-ray diffraction showed the spinel structure for the magnetite particles coated with silica. Magnetic measurement revealed the magnetic silica nanoparticles were superparamagnetic and the saturation magnetization was about 15.0 emu/g. Protein adsorption results showed that the nanoparticles had high adsorption capacity for BSA (73 mg/g) and low nonspecific adsorption. The regeneration of these nanoparticles was also studied.  相似文献

In this paper, we have first demonstrated a facile and green synthetic approach for preparing superparamagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles using α-d-glucose as the reducing agent and gluconic acid (the oxidative product of glucose) as stabilizer and dispersant. The X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS), and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) results showed that the inverse spinel structure pure phase polycrystalline Fe3O4 was obtained. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results exhibited that Fe3O4 nanoparticles were roughly spherical shape and its average size was about 12.5 nm. The high-resolution TEM (HRTEM) result proved that the nanoparticles were structurally uniform with a lattice fringe spacing about 0.25 nm, which corresponded well with the values of 0.253 nm of the (3 1 1) lattice plane of the inverse spinel Fe3O4 obtained from the JCPDS database. The superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) results revealed that the blocking temperature (Tb) was 190 K, and that the magnetic hysteresis loop at 300 K showed a saturation magnetization of 60.5 emu/g, and the absence of coercivity and remanence indicated that the as-synthesized Fe3O4 nanoparticles had superparamagnetic properties. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) spectrum displayed that the characteristic band of Fe-O at 569 cm−1 was indicative of Fe3O4. This method might provide a new, mild, green, and economical concept for the synthesis of other nanomaterials.  相似文献

Fe3O4 nanoparticle/organic hybrids were synthesized via hydrolysis using iron (III) acetylacetonate at ∼80 °C. The synthesis of Fe3O4 was confirmed by X-ray diffraction, selected-area diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the organic matrix had diameters ranging from 7 to 13 nm depending on the conditions of hydrolysis. The saturation magnetization of the hybrid increased with an increase in the particle size. When the hybrid contained Fe3O4 particles with a size of less than 10 nm, it exhibited superparamagnetic behavior. The blocking temperature of the hybrid containing Fe3O4 particles with a size of 7.3 nm was 200 K, and it increased to 310 K as the particle size increased to 9.1 nm. A hybrid containing Fe3O4 particles of size greater than 10 nm was ferrimagnetic, and underwent Verwey transition at 130 K. Under a magnetic field, a suspension of the hybrid in silicone oil revealed the magnetorheological effect. The yield stress of the fluid was dependent on the saturation magnetization of Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the hybrid, the strength of the magnetic field, and the amount of the hybrid.  相似文献

Superparamagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles were first synthesized via soya bean sprouts (SBS) templates under ambient temperature and normal atmosphere. The reaction process was simple, eco-friendly, and convenient to handle. The morphology and crystalline phase of the nanoparticles were determined from scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra. The effect of SBS template on the formation of Fe3O4 nanoparticles was investigated using X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The results indicate that spherical Fe3O4 nanoparticles with an average diameter of 8 nm simultaneously formed on the epidermal surface and the interior stem wall of SBS. The SBS are responsible for size and morphology control during the whole formation of Fe3O4 nanoparticles. In addition, the superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) results indicate the products are superparamagnetic at room temperature, with blocking temperature (TB) of 150 K and saturation magnetization of 37.1 emu/g.  相似文献

Superparamagnetic nanoparticles have been widely applied in various bio-medical applications. To date, it is still a challenge to synthesize nanosized Fe3O4 particles with controlled size and distribution. In this paper, a novel solvent-free thermal decomposition method is reported for synthesizing Fe3O4 nanoparticles. Size and morphology of the nanoparticles are determined by TEM while the structure of the nanoparticles is identified by FTIR, XPS and TGA measurements. Magnetic properties of the obtained particles are determined using VSM and SQUID measurement. The particle size of the Fe3O4 can be tailored by adjusting either reaction temperature or time. When the reaction temperature is increased to 330 °C and the reaction time is extended to 4 h, the average particle size of the obtained nanoparticles is ∼9 nm, while Ms value reaches ∼76 emu/g. The as synthesized Fe3O4 nanoparticles show well-established superparamagnetic properties with the blocking temperature at around 100 K.  相似文献

Methods to synthesize magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles and to modify the surface of particles are presented in the present investigation. Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were prepared by the co-precipitation of Fe3+ and Fe2+, NH3·H2O was used as the precipitating agent to adjust the pH value, and the aging of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles was accelerated by microwave (MW) irradiation. The obtained Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The average size of Fe3O4 crystallites was found to be around 8–9 nm. Thereafter, the surface of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles was modified by stearic acid. The resultant sample was characterized by FT-IR, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), XRD, lipophilic degree (LD) and sedimentation test. The FT-IR results indicated that a covalent bond was formed by chemical reaction between the hydroxyl groups on the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles and carboxyl groups of stearic acid, which changed the polarity of Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The dispersion of Fe3O4 in organic solvent was greatly improved. Effects of reaction time, reaction temperature and concentration of stearic acid on particle surface modification were investigated. In addition, Fe3O4/polystyrene (PS) nanocomposite was synthesized by adding surface modified Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles into styrene monomer, followed by the radical polymerization. The obtained nanocomposite was tested by thermogravimetry (TG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and XRD. Results revealed that the thermal stability of PS was not significantly changed after adding Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The Fe3O4 magnetic fluid was characterized using UV–vis spectrophotometer, Gouy magnetic balance and laser particle-size analyzer. The testing results showed that the magnetic fluid had excellent stability, and had susceptibility of 4.46×10−8 and saturated magnetization of 6.56 emu/g. In addition, the mean size d (0.99) of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the fluid was 36.19 nm.  相似文献

Superparamagnetic and monodispersed aqueous ferrofluids of Zn substituted magnetite nanoparticles (ZnxFe3−xO4, x=0, 0.25, 0.3, 0.37 and 0.4) were synthesized via hydrothermal-reduction route in the presence of citric acid, which is a facile, low energy and environmental friendly method. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by X ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM) and the dynamic light scattering (DLS) method. The results showed that a certain amount of citric acid was required to obtain single phase Zn substituted magnetite nanoparticles. Citric acid acted as a modulator and reducing agent in the formation of spinel structure and controlled nanoparticle size and crystallinity. Mean particle sizes of the prepared nanoparticles were around 10 nm. The results that are obtained from XRD, magnetic and power loss measurements showed that the crystallinity, saturation magnetization (MS) and loss power of the synthesized ferrofluids were all influenced by the substitution of Zn in the structure of magnetite. The Zn substituted magnetite nanoparticles obtained by this route showed a good stability in aqueous medium (pH 7) and hydrodynamic sizes below 100 nm and polydispersity indexes below 0.2. The calculated intrinsic loss power (ILP) for the sample x=0.3 (e.g. 2.36 nH m2/kg) was comparable to ILP of commercial ferrofluids with similar hydrodynamic sizes.  相似文献

Zn-doped nickel ferrite nanoparticles (Zn0.6Ni0.4Fe2O4) have been prepared via a surfactant, polyethylene glycol assisted hydrothermal route. X-ray powder diffractometry (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and vibrating scanning magnetometry (VSM) were used for the structural, morphological, and magnetic characterizations of the product, respectively. TEM analysis revealed that the nanoparticles have a narrow size distribution, with average particle size of 15±1 nm, which agrees well with the XRD based estimate of 14±2 nm. The absence of saturation and remanent magnetization, and coercivity in the high temperature region of the M-H curve and non-zero magnetic moments indicate superparamagnetism of the nanoparticles with a canted spin structure. The appearance of a peak on the temperature-dependent zero-field cooling magnetization curve at ∼190 K indicates the blocking temperature of the sample.  相似文献

We demonstrate a single-step facile approach for highly water-stable assembly of amine-functionalized Fe3O4 nanoparticles using thermal decomposition of Fe-chloride precursors in ethylene glycol medium in the presence of ethylenediamine. The average size of nanoassemblies is 40±1 nm, wherein the individual nanoparticles are about 6 nm. Amine-functionalized properties are evident from Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR), thermal and elemental analyses. The saturation magnetization and spin-echo r2 of the nanoassemblies were measured to be 64.3 emu/g and 314.6 mM−1 s−1, respectively. The higher value of relaxivity ratio (r2/r1=143) indicates that nanoassemblies are a promising high-efficiency T2 contrast agent platform.  相似文献

The influence of the oleic acid surface coating on Fe3O4 and NiFe2O4 nanoparticles on their magnetic and calorimetric characterization was investigated. Fe3O4 nanoparticles (particle sizes of 15-20 and 20-30 nm) and NiFe2O4 nanoparticles (particle sizes of 20-30 nm) were dispersed in oleic acid. The surface coating resulted in a decrease in the dipole-dipole interaction between the particles, which in turn affected the coercivity and heat dissipation of the nanoparticles. The coercivity of the oleic-acid-coated nanoparticles was found to be lower than that of the uncoated nanoparticles. The temperature rise in the oleic-acid-coated nanoparticles was greater than that of the uncoated nanoparticles; this temperature rise was associated with the relaxation losses. The viscosity dependence on the self-heating temperature of Fe3O4 nanoparticles (15-20 and 20-30 nm) under an ac magnetic field was measured. The temperature rise for both the Fe3O4 nanoparticles (15-20 and 20-30 nm) exhibited a strong dependence on viscosity at each magnetic field frequency, and the contribution of Brownian relaxation loss to the temperature rise was revealed. Moreover, an in vitro cytotoxicity test of Fe3O4 and NiFe2O4 was performed using human cervical carcinoma cells (HeLa), and the cytotoxicity of NiFe2O4 nanoparticles was compared to that of Fe3O4 nanoparticles.  相似文献

Thermal decomposition of the trinuclear complex [Fe2CrO(CH3COO)6(H2O)3]NO3 at 300, 400 and 500 °C gave γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles along with amorphous chromium oxide, while decomposition of the same starting compound at 600 and 700 °C led to the formation of α-(Fe2/3Cr1/3)2O3 nanoparticles. Size of γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles, determined by X-ray diffraction, was in the range from 9 to 11 nm and increased with formation temperature growth. Average size of α-(Fe2/3Cr1/3)2O3 nanoparticles was about 40 nm and almost did not depend on the temperature of its formation. γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles possessed superparamagnetic behavior with blocking temperature 180-250 K, saturation magnetization 29-35 emu/g at 5 K, 44-49 emu/g at 300 K and coercivity 400-600 Oe at 5 K. α-(Fe2/3Cr1/3)2O3 nanoparticles were characterized by low magnetization values (2.7 emu/g at 70 kOe). Such magnetic properties can be caused by non-compensated spins and defects present on the surface of these nanoparticles. The increase of α-(Fe2/3Cr1/3)2O3 formation temperature led to decrease of magnetization (being compared for the same fields), which may be caused by decrease of the quantity of defects or non-compensated spins (due to decrease of particles' surface).  相似文献

Magnetic protein microspheres with core-shell structure were prepared through a novel approach based on the sonochemical method and the emulsion solvent evaporation method. The microspheres are composed of the oleic acid and undecylenic acid modified Fe3O4 cores and coated with globular bovine serum albumin (BSA). Under an optimized condition, up to 57.8 wt% of approximately 10 nm superparamagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles could be uniformly encapsulated into the BSA microspheres with the diameter of approximately 160 nm and the high saturation magnetization of 38.5 emu/g, besides of the abundant functional groups. The possible formation mechanism of magnetic microspheres was discussed in detail.  相似文献

The superparamagnetic 8-nm Fe3O4 nanoparticles were successfully prepared by chemical oxidation process. For the complex permittivity, the dual dielectric relaxation processes have been proved by two overlapped Cole–Cole semicircles, and the natural resonance frequency is 3.03 GHz for the complex permeability. The maximum reflection loss value reaches −55.5 dB at 6.11 GHz with 3.85 mm in the thickness of the absorbers for the superparamagnetic 8-nm Fe3O4 nanoparticles which is better than that of 150 nm and 30 nm Fe3O4 nanoparticles. It is believed that the superparamagnetic 8-nm Fe3O4 nanoparticles can be used as a kind of candidate for microwave absorber.  相似文献

Zn1−xNixFe2O4 ferrite nanoparticles were prepared by sol–gel auto-combustion and then annealed at 700 °C for 4 h. The results of differential thermal analysis indicate that the thermal decomposition temperature is about 210 °C and Ni–Zn ferrite nanoparticles could be synthesized in the self-propagating combustion process. The microstructure and magnetic properties were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and Vibrating sample magnetometer. It is observed that all the spherical nanoparticles with an average grain size of about 35 nm are of pure spinel cubic structure. The crystal lattice constant declines gradually with increasing x from 0.8435 nm (x=0.20) to 0.8352 nm (x=1.00). Different from the composition of Zn0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4 for the bulk, the maximum Ms is found in the composition of Zn0.3Ni0.7Fe2O4 for nanoparticles. The Hc of samples is much larger than the bulk ferrites and increases with the enlarging x. The results of Zn0.3Ni0.7Fe2O4 annealed at different temperatures indicate that the maximum Ms (83.2 emu/g) appears in the sample annealed at 900 °C. The Hc of Zn0.3Ni0.7Fe2O4 firstly increases slightly as the grain size increases, and presents a maximum value of 115 Oe when the grains grow up to about 30 nm, and then declines rapidly with the grains further growing. The critical diameter (under the critical diameter, the grain is of single domain) of Zn0.3Ni0.7Fe2O4 nanoparticles is found to be about 30 nm.  相似文献

Single domain magnetic CoFe2O4 nanoparticles with spinel structure were prepared by the coprecipitation method. Particles with size of 16, 20, 40 and 60 nm were synthesized by sintering the precursor at 500, 600, 800 and 900 °C, respectively. The magnetic hysteresis measurement of CoFe2O4 particles showed that particles were single domain particles with similar saturation magnetization (∼300 emu/cm3) at room temperature. The zeta potential study of suspensions (CoFe2O4-acetylacetone system) with various particle sizes showed the suspension systems had similar zeta potential values (∼40 mV). The effects of magnetic particle size on the suspension stability characterized by electrophoretic deposition yields and sediment volumes were studied. The suspension stability decreased with an increase in particle size and a flocculation threshold of particle radius a was found at 30 nm. A suspension stability theory approaching to the phenomenon was established. The theory based on the DLVO theory was developed by introducing an extra magnetic interaction force. Dormann model was adopted, in which the magnetic interactions of two spherical nanoparticles were investigated in terms of dipole-dipole interactions. Compared to DLVO, suspension's physical parameters not only zeta potential ζ and the Debye length 1/κ, but also particles' radius a brought about stable to flocculation transition in the theory.  相似文献

Spherical uniform-sized iron ferrite nanoparticles were synthesized by adding a disaccharide and seed ferrite crystals into an aqueous reaction solution. The average size range 50-150 nm was controlled by choosing one out of five disaccharides and by changing the amount of the seed crystals. The particles had a saturation magnetization and a crystalline structure which are similar to those of intermediate Fe3O4-γ-Fe2O3. When coated with citrate, the particles with nearly 100 nm diameter were stably suspended in water for 2 days. These novel particles will be utilized as magnetic carriers in biomedical applications.  相似文献

The incorporation of additional functional groups such as bismuth nanoparticles (Bi NPs) into magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4 NPs) is critical for their properties modification, stabilization, and multi-functionalization in biomedical applications. In this work, ultrasound has rapidly modified iron oxide (Fe3O4) NPs via incorporating their surface through coating with Bi NPs, creating unique Fe3O4@Bi composite NPs. The Fe3O4@Bi nanocomposites were synthesized and statistically optimized using an ultrasonic probe and response surface methodology (RSM). A face-centered central composite design (FCCD) investigated the effect of preparation settings on the stability, size, and size distribution of the nanocomposite. Based on the numerical desirability function, the optimized preparation parameters that influenced the responses were determined to be 40 ml, 5 ml, and 12 min for Bi concentration, sodium borohydride (SBH) concentration, and sonication time, respectively. It was found that the sonication time was the most influential factor in determining the responses. The predicted values for the zeta potential, hydrodynamic size, and polydispersity index (PDI) at the highest desirability solution (100%) were −45 mV, 122 nm, and 0.257, while their experimental values at the optimal preparation conditions were −47.1 mV, 125 nm, and 0.281, respectively. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) result shows that the ultrasound efficiently stabilized and functionalized Fe3O4NPs following modification to Fe3O4@Bi NPs, improved the zeta potential value from –33.5 to −47.1 mV, but increased the hydrodynamic size from 98 to 125 nm. Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX) validated the elemental compositions and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) confirmed the presence of Sumac (Rhus coriaria) compounds in the composition of the nanocomposites. The stability and biocompatibility of Fe3O4@Bi NPs were improved by using the extract solution of the Sumac edible plant. Other physicochemical results revealed that Fe3O4NPs and Fe3O4@Bi NPs were crystalline, semi-spherical, and monodisperse with average particle sizes of 11.7 nm and 19.5 nm, while their saturation magnetization (Ms) values were found to be 132.33 emu/g and 92.192 emu/g, respectively. In vitro cytotoxicity of Fe3O4@Bi NPs on the HEK-293 cells was dose- and time-dependent. Based on our findings, the sonochemical approach efficiently produced (and RSM accurately optimized) an extremely stable, homogeneous, and biocompatible Fe3O4@Bi NPs with multifunctional potential for various biomedical applications.  相似文献

The value of the effective magnetic anisotropy constant of the ferrimagnetic nanoparticles Zn0.15Ni0.85Fe2O4 embedded in a SiO2 silica matrix, determined through ferromagnetic resonance (FMR), is much higher than the magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant. The higher value of the anisotropy constant is due to the existence of surface anisotropy. However, even if the magnetic anisotropy is high, the ferrimagnetic nanoparticles with a 15% concentration, which are isolated in a SiO2 matrix, display a superparamagnetic (SPM) behavior at room temperature and at a frequency of the magnetization field equal to 50 Hz. The FMR spectrum of the novel nanocomposite (Zn0.15Ni0.85Fe2O4)0.15/(SiO2)0.85, recorded at room temperature and a frequency of 9.060 GHz, is observed at a resonance field (B0r) of 0.2285 T, which is substantially lower than the field corresponding to free electron resonance (ESR) (0.3236 T). Apart from the line corresponding to the resonance of the nanoparticle system, the spectrum also contains an additional weaker line, identified for a resonance field of ∼0.12 T, which is appreciably lower than B0r. This line was attributed to magnetic ions complex that is in a disordered structure in the layer that has an average thickness of 1.4 nm, this layer being situated on the surface of the Zn0.15Ni0.85Fe2O4 nanoparticles that have a mean magnetic diameter of 8.9 nm.  相似文献
