In this paper, we optimize a proposed all-optical quantization scheme based on soliton self-frequency shift(SSFS)and pre-chirp spectral compression techniques. A 10m-long high-nonlinear photonic crystal fiber(PCF) is used as an SSFS medium relevant to the power of the sampled optical pulses. Furthermore, a 10m-long dispersion flattened hybrid cladding hexagonal-octagonal PCF(6/8-PCF) is utilized as a spectral compression medium to further enhance the resolution. Simulation results show that 6-bit quantization resolution is still obtained when a 100m-long dispersion-increasing fiber(DIF)is replaced by a 6/8-PCF in spectral compression module.  相似文献

In this paper,we propose an optical quantization scheme for all-optical analog-to-digital conversion that facilitates photonics integration.A segment of 10-m photonic crystal fiber with a high nonlinear coefficient of 62.8 W 1/km is utilized to realize large scale soliton self-frequency shift relevant to the power of the sampled optical signal.Furthermore,a 100-m dispersion-increasing fiber is used as the spectral compression module for further resolution enhancement.Simulation results show that 317-nm maximum wavelength shift is realized with 1550-nm initial wavelength and 6-bit quantization resolution is obtained with a subsequent spectral compression process.  相似文献

设计了一种新颖的、低开关功率的全光开关. 将高非线性光子晶体光纤和双向抽运掺饵光纤放大器引入Sagnac环形镜内,破坏了环形镜的对称性,利用交叉相位调制作用使反向传输的两路信号光产生非线性相移,从而实现开关效应. 理论分析表明:开关功率与放大器的增益倍数和光子晶体光纤非线性系数的积成反比,在实验中所得开关功率约40 mW,消光比约为15.9 dB,并且信号光透过率随脉冲控制光峰值功率呈余弦变化,实验结果与理论分析相吻合. 关键词: 全光开关 高非线性光子晶体光纤 环形镜 交叉相位调制  相似文献

A new high negative dispersion photonic crystal fiber is proposed. It has double-core structure. The inner core has a circle germanium-doped region. The outer core is formed by removing the 3rd ring air-holes around the core. There are two ring air-holes between the two cores, Diameter of the 1st ring air holes is bigger than that of the 2nd ring air-holes, this can make mode coupling between inner mode and outer mode and showed that the high negative PCF is the result of this structure characteristics. There are honeycomb photonic lattice in the PCF's cladding. The influence of the structure parameters deviated from the design those on the chromatic dispersion are evaluated. When the structure parameters Λ=1.50 μm, dcore=2.10 μm, d1=0.90 μm, d2=0.44 μm and d3=1.04 μm, the dispersion coefficient D is −1320 ps/(nm·km) at 1550 nm. This is a new kind of chromatic dispersion compensation PCF.  相似文献

提出了一种基于六角格子光子晶体波导微腔和Fabry-Perot(FP)腔非对称耦合的全光二极管结构, 它由一个包含非线性Kerr介质的高Q值微腔与一个光子晶体波导中的FP腔组成. 通过有限时域差分方法对其传输特性进行了仿真, 发现通过两腔的非对称耦合可以实现在特定光强度下的正向传输、反向截止的功能. 在靠近微腔方向光入射时, 特定强度的光可以激发非线性微腔的Kerr效应, 改变了Fano腔的共振频率, 从而变成透射状态. 而远离微腔方向光入射, 由于这个不对称的结构造成场局域的分布不对称, 激发微腔Kerr效应的光强还不够, 所以光不能透射. 所设计的全光二极管结构具有良好的性能参数: 最大透射率高和高透射比、光强阈值低和易于集成等.  相似文献

In this paper, an all-optical RS flip-flop was proposed using nonlinear Kerr effect in photonic crystals. The proposed structure is composed of a core section and two optical switches. The core section consists of two cross-connected resonant cavities whose resonant mode are at wavelengths 1586 and 1620 nm. The cavities were designed such that the resonance of one cavity prevents the signal coupling through the other one. For designing the switch sections, a bias port was used to keep data when there is no input for the flip-flop. Therefore, when both input ports are inactive, the previous state of the flip-flop will be kept. Total footprint and maximum frequency of the proposed structure are obtained 361 μm2 and 320 GHz, respectively.  相似文献

A wavelength tunable, high repetition rate mode-locked fiber ring laser was demonstrated. In the experiment, photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is used as an intracavity compression medium. The high nonlinearity and anomalous dispersion of PCF can cause intracavity compression and result in significant reduction in the pulse width. The pulses duration at the repetition rate of 9.99 GHz was less than 10 ps over the range of 1532-1565 nm.  相似文献

We design and investigate the unidirectional transmission behavior of coupled photonic crystal defects with instantaneous Kerr nonlinearity. Theoretical analysis based on coupled-mode theory and numerical simulations based on finite-difference time-domain techniques indicate that ultrahigh-contrast all-optical diodes can be achieved by properly misaligning the frequencies of the coupled cavities. The transmission contrasts of such configurations composed of three and four cavities are demonstrated to be as high as 518 and 7015, with 42.8% and 46.3% forward transmissions, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel biosensor based on hetero photonic crystal (PC) structures is proposed. The biosensor consists of photonic crystals with negative refraction (PCNR) embedded between two ordinary PC structures. The PCNR is employed in order to produce an image that is as similar as the light source, which is located in the first ordinary PC. Significant enhancement of the image is achieved when a nanocavity is introduced into the PCNR. It is found that the transmission peak shifts when the nanocavity is filled with blood plasma, liquid and dry air. It is shown that by careful selection of the radius of the nanocavity, the sensitivity of the proposed biosensor can be enhanced. The presented PCNR biosensor is investigated by employing the finite-difference time-domain method (FDTD).  相似文献

Considering the optical stability of solution, the sugar-solution is infused into the outer core ring of dual-concentric-core photonic crystal fiber (DCCPCF). The influences of structure parameters and solution concentration on the phase and loss matching are comprehensively analyzed. By choosing the appropriate outer core mode to completely couple with the inner core fundamental mode, the large negative dispersion PCF around 1.55 μm is designed, which has the dispersion value of − 39,500 ps/km/nm as well as bandwidth of 7.4 nm and effective mode area of 28.3 μm2. The designed PCF with hybrid cladding structure can effectively compensate the positive dispersion of conventional single mode fiber, and suppress the system perturbation caused by a series of nonlinear effects. Considering the mode field mismatching between the DCCPCF and the tapered fiber, the calculated connection loss around 1.55 μm is below 3 dB. In addition, the equivalent propagation constants of two leaky modes are deduced from the coupled-mode theory, and the complete mode coupling case can be well predicted by comparing the real and imaginary parts of propagation constants.  相似文献

An original design of ring-core photonic crystal fiber (RPCF) is proposed. By splicing a section of the homemade RPCF between two segments of single mode fibers (SMFs), a simple modal interferometer is presented and experimentally demonstrated. Owing to the effects of the collapsed region, the ring modes in RPCF can be effectively activated. To our knowledge, it is the first time to demonstrate the modal interferometer based on the interference between the ring modes, which is different from the previously reported interferometers based on the interference between core modes or cladding modes. The temperature and strain characteristics of the interferometers with different lengths of RPCF are investigated.  相似文献

An all-optical Fano-like diode featuring a nonlinear lateral elliptical micro-cavity and a reflecting column in the photonic crystal waveguide is proposed. 设计了一种缺陷模迁移光子晶体微腔全光开关. 两条二维三角晶格空气孔光子晶体波导由一个光子晶体微腔连接, 在微腔的点缺陷中填充掺有少量偶氮聚合物的苯乙炔类液晶. 通过调节控制光的偏振态, 使偶氮聚合物发生顺-反异构化反应, 带动液晶分子重新取向, 从而改变光子晶体微腔的谐振波长, 进而实现光的通过与截止. 运用时域有限差分法和平面波展开法分析 了二维光控液晶光子晶体微腔全光开关的光学特性. 数值计算结果表明: 对于1.55 μ通信波段通过外界偏振光控制所填充的向列相液晶 的折射率可以实现对光波的导通与截止. 分析结果显示, 此开关具有阈值低, 消光比较大, 体积小等优点. 关键词: 二维光子晶体微腔 波导 时域有限差分(FDTD) 液晶  相似文献
