Metastable complexes of some <Emphasis Type="Italic">d</Emphasis>- and <Emphasis Type="Italic">f</Emphasis>-block metals with mesogenic cyanobiphenyls

Formation of metastable complexes with different metal to mesogenic ligand ratio (M/L = 1/2 and 1/1) has been shown by IR–, UV–Vis, ESR-spectroscopic techniques for low temperature co-condensation of some d- and f-block transition metals (Ag, Cu, Eu, Sm) and mesogenic derivatives of cyanobiphenyls. The Quantum chemistry calculations have been carried out to study equilibrium structures of complexes. Biligand complex models with one and two metal atoms and antiparallel disposition of two ligand molecules are considered. Relative spectral shifts and relative thermal stability of complexes are discussed.     

Synthesis of new <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-aminoglycosides based on halo-substituted <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-phenylenediamines and <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-aminophenols

Condensation of the monosaccharides D-glucose and D-galactose with synthesized halo-substituted p-phenylenediamines and 4-amino-2,6-dibromophenol was studied. It was found that glycosylation occurred only at the 4-amino group that was sterically unhindered by the halogen atom. The position of the aglycon in the glycoside was established by PMR spectroscopy.     

Ionic Liquid Promoted One-Pot Synthesis of Furo[2,3-<Emphasis Type="Italic">d</Emphasis>]pyrimidine-2,4(1<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>,3<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>)-diones

Summary. The three-component condensation of aldehyde, N,N′-dimethylbarbituric acid and alkyl or aryl isocyanide afforded the corresponding furo[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-diones in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide as an ionic liquid in high yields at room temperature within several minutes.     

Structural analysis of <Emphasis Type="Italic">w</Emphasis>/<Emphasis Type="Italic">o</Emphasis>/<Emphasis Type="Italic">w</Emphasis> multiple emulsions by means of DSC

Summary The properties of the inner and the external aqueous phases, were studied in w/o/w multiple emulsions with light microscopic image analysis and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The importance of multiple emulsions lies in the presence of these aqueous phases, making them available for sustained, controlled drug delivery systems. Differentiation of these two aqueous phases, studying the effect of manufacturing technology on droplet structure, quantitative determination of phase volumes and any changes occurring during storage are essential when planning w/o/w emulsions. The present study uses microscopic observations combined with DSC measurements in order to identify the formed structure, at developmental stage in case of different components, preparation methods, and stirring rates. These tools are beneficial during manufacturing as in process controls, or to ensure product quality.     

Infrared spectra of Hoffmann-<Emphasis Type="Italic">T</Emphasis><Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">d</Emphasis></Subscript>-type benzene clathrates

Six new title compounds in the form of Cd(cyclobutylamine)₂M′(CN)₄ · 2G (M′ = Cd or Hg; G = benzene, 1,2-dichlorobenzene, or 1,3-dichlorobenzene) have been prepared in powder form. Their spectral data were found to be consistent with the structure of the Hofmann-T _d -type clathrates.     

Comparative characteristics of water-soluble proteins from <Emphasis Type="Italic">Larix sibirica</Emphasis>, <Emphasis Type="Italic">Picea obovata</Emphasis>, and <Emphasis Type="Italic">Abies sibirica</Emphasis> bud meristem

The amount of water-soluble proteins in bud meristem of Larix sibirica L., Picea obovata L., and Abies sibirica L. was shown to increase by 2-3 times in autumn during development of low-temperature resistance. The fractional composition of water-soluble proteins of the studied species and the amino-acid composition of groups of water-soluble proteins with different molecular weight (MW) were similar. Nitrogen accumulated as aspartic acid, glycine, and alanine in high- and medium-molecular-weight proteins. The peptides (MW < 5 kDa) typically had a high content of hydrophobic proline and hydrophilic tyrosine.     

Synthesis from geraniol of (2<Emphasis Type="Italic">E</Emphasis>,6<Emphasis Type="Italic">E</Emphasis>,10<Emphasis Type="Italic">E</Emphasis>,14<Emphasis Type="Italic">E</Emphasis>)-16-hydroxygeranylgeraniol and some of its derivatives

Several α,ω-bifunctional derivatives of E,E,E-geranylgeraniol were prepared via convergent synthesis starting with geraniol (8), which was converted in three steps into the tetrahydropyranyl ether of 8-chlorogeraniol (9) and 8-hydroxygeranylphenylsulfone (10). Combination of synthons 9 and 10 with subsequent reductive removal of the phenylsulfonyl group produced the tetrahydropyranyl ether of ω-hydroxygeranylgeraniol (5), hydrolysis of which gave exclusively trans-ω-hydroxygeranylgeraniol (1). <Emphasis Type="Italic">Ab initio</Emphasis> study of aniline and <Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis>-propylamine associates with nitrobenzene and <Emphasis Type="Italic">m</Emphasis>-cresol

An ab initio (6-31G**) study of binary associates of aniline and n-propylamine with nitrobenzene and m-cresol has been carried out. The structures corresponding to the total energy minimum of the system have been found for the associates, and their geometrical and energy characteristics have been determined. Synthesis of new 1<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>-pyridazine derivatives <Emphasis Type="Italic">peri</Emphasis>-annelated with acenaphthene and acenaphthylene

The reaction of 6-acetyl-5-hydroxyacenaphthene with methylhydrazine afforded 1,3-dimethyl-1H-6,7-dihydroacenaphtho[5,6-de]pyridazine. Its dehydrogenation with chloranil gave 1,3-dimethyl-1H-acenaphtho[5,6-de]pyridazine, which is a heteroaromatic compound with an essentially new topology of the ρsystem. The reaction of 3-methyl-1H-6,7-dihydroacenaphtho[5,6-de]pyridazine with 3,5-di-tert-butyl-1,2-benzoquinone yielded a dimer containing the acenaphthene and acenaphthylene moieties of peri-annelated 1H-1,2-diazines connected in positions 1′ and 9.__________Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. We obtained an analytical solution of a problem of unsteady mass transfer under the equilibrium condition y = Ax + B to compare results with a problem solution in the case of equilibrium condition looking as y = Ax.     

Complexes of 3<Emphasis Type="Italic">d</Emphasis> Metal Biurates with 4-Phenylthiosemicarbazide
