Existence and uniqueness of solutions for nonlocal Cahn-Hilliard equations with degenerate potential is shown. The nonlocality is described by means of a symmetric singular kernel not falling within the framework of any previous existence theory. A convection term is also taken into account. Building upon this novel existence result, we prove convergence of solutions for this class of nonlocal Cahn-Hilliard equations to their local counterparts, as the nonlocal convolution kernels approximate a Dirac delta. Eventually, we show that, under suitable assumptions on the data, the solutions to the nonlocal Cahn-Hilliard equations exhibit further regularity, and the nonlocal-to-local convergence is verified in a stronger topology.  相似文献

We prove a general symmetric identity involving the degenerate Bernoulli polynomials and sums of generalized falling factorials, which unifies several known identities for Bernoulli and degenerate Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. We use this identity to describe some combinatorial relations between these polynomials and generalized factorial sums. As further applications we derive several identities, recurrences, and congruences involving the Bernoulli numbers, degenerate Bernoulli numbers, generalized factorial sums, Stirling numbers of the first kind, Bernoulli numbers of higher order, and Bernoulli numbers of the second kind.  相似文献

In this paper we consider linear integro-differential equations in Banach spaces with Fredholm operators at the highest-order derivatives and convolution-type Volterra integral parts. We obtain sufficient conditions for the unique solvability (in the classical sense) of the Cauchy problem for the mentioned equations and illustrate the abstract results with pithy examples. The studies are carried out in classes of distributions in Banach spaces with the help of the theory of fundamental operator functions of degenerate integro-differential operators. We propose a universal technique for proving theorems on the form of fundamental operator functions.  相似文献

We study an asymptotic property of weighted sequences of nonnegative functions which extends and unifies previous results concerned with precise asymptotics. As applications, we prove precise asymptotics for partial sums of independent identically distributed classical, noncommutative and free random variables.

We provide general results on the consistency of certain bootstrap methods applied to degree-2 degenerate statistics of U-type and V-type. While it follows from well known results that the original statistic converges in distribution to a weighted sum of centred chi-squared random variables, we use a coupling idea of Dehling and Mikosch to show that the bootstrap counterpart converges to the same distribution. The result is applied to a goodness-of-fit test based on the empirical characteristic function.  相似文献

For fixed rN, and a suitable counting process N(t), t>0, we mainly discuss the precise asymptotic of the generalized stochastic order statistics X(N(n)−r+1,N(n),m,k). It not only makes the results of Yan, Wang and Cheng [J.G. Yan, Y.B. Wang, F.Y. Cheng, Precise asymptotics for order statistics of a non-random sample and a random sample, J. Systems Sci. Math. Sci. 26 (2) (2006) 237-244] as the special case of our result, and presents many groups of weighted functions and boundary functions, but also permits a unified approach to several models of ordered random variables.  相似文献

This paper has three topics. In Sect. 1, we present our results on the regularity and a priori estimates for solutions ofp-harmonic systems with Hölder continuous coefficients. Such systems come up in the study of Ginzburg-Landau type functional in higher dimensions. In Sect. 2, we study a stability inequality, which, in addition to its applications in the study of Ginzburg-Landau type functional, is of independent interest. In Sects. 3 and 4, we prove that for any sequence of minimizers of the higher dimensional Ginzburg-Landau type functional, a subsequence converges strongly away from a finite number of points, generalizing some of the two dimensional results of Bethuel, Brezis, and Hélein.Partially supported by the Alfred P. Perspective functions arise explicitly or implicitly in various forms in applied mathematics and in statistical data analysis. To date, no systematic strategy is available to solve the associated, typically nonsmooth, optimization problems. In this paper, we fill this gap by showing that proximal methods provide an efficient framework to model and solve problems involving perspective functions. We study the construction of the proximity operator of a perspective function under general assumptions and present important instances in which the proximity operator can be computed explicitly or via straightforward numerical operations. These results constitute central building blocks in the design of proximal optimization algorithms. We showcase the versatility of the framework by designing novel proximal algorithms for state-of-the-art regression and variable selection schemes in high-dimensional statistics.  相似文献

We prove that the Poisson boundary of any spread out non-degenerate symmetric randomwalk on an arbitrary locally compact second countable group G is doubly $\mathcal{M}$sep-ergodic with respect to the class $\mathcal{M}$sep of separable coefficient Banach G-modules. The proof is direct and based on an analogous property of the bilateral Bernoulli shift in the space of increments of the random walk. As a corollary we obtain that any locally compact s-compact group G admits a measure class preserving action which is both amenable and doubly $\mathcal{M}$sep-ergodic. This generalizes an earlier result of Burger and Monod obtained under the assumption that G is compactly generated and allows one to dispose of this assumption in numerous applications to the theory of bounded cohomology.  相似文献

There has been much recent interest in Bayesian image analysis, including such topics as removal of blur and noise, detection of object boundaries, classification of textures, and reconstruction of two- or three-dimensional scenes from noisy lower-dimensional views. Perhaps the most straightforward task is that of image restoration, though it is often suggested that this is an area of relatively minor practical importance. The present paper argues the contrary, since many problems in the analysis of spatial data can be interpreted as problems of image restoration. Furthermore, the amounts of data involved allow routine use of computer intensive methods, such as the Gibbs sampler, that are not yet practicable for conventional images. Two examples are given, one in archeology, the other in epidemiology. Two ratio limit concepts for transformations preserving infinite measures, rational ergodicity and bounded rational ergodicity, are discussed and compared. The concept of rational ergodicity is used to construct some continuous measures on the circle, which show that the exceptional set in the weak mixing theorem may be rather large. In this paper, we consider random variables counting numbers of observations that fall into regions determined by extreme order statistics and Borel sets. We study multivariate asymptotic behavior of these random variables and express their joint limiting law in terms of independent multinomial and negative multinomial laws. First, we give our results for samples with deterministic size; next we explain how to generalize them to the case of randomly indexed samples.  相似文献

In M-estimation under standard asymptotics, the weak convergence combined with the polynomial type large deviation estimate of the associated statistical random field Yoshida (2011) provides us with not only the asymptotic distribution of the associated M-estimator but also the convergence of its moments, the latter playing an important role in theoretical statistics. In this paper, we study the above program for statistical random fields of multiple and also possibly mixedrates type in the sense of Radchenko (2008) where the associated statistical random fields may be nondifferentiable and may fail to be locally asymptotically quadratic. Consequently, a very strong mode of convergence of a wide range of regularized M-estimators is ensured.Our results are applied to regularized estimation of an ergodic diffusion observed at high frequency.  相似文献

Heterogeneous wireless/wired networks and ubiquitous environments are gaining ever more attention by research community. To properly control and manage such puzzles a deep knowledge of quality of service parameters is needed and, therefore, a complete and robust performance assessment is necessary. This paper deals with a performance evaluation and measurement of a number of heterogeneous end-to-end paths taking into account a wide range of statistics. To study the behavior of QoS parameters, an active measurement approach has been introduced for the analysis of properties we called (i) concise statistics (mean, standard deviation, inter quantile range, minimum, maximum, and median) and (ii) detailed statistics (Probability Density Function, Auto-correlation Function, Entropy, Complementary Cumulative Distribution Function, and Bivariate Probability Density Function). We show how, thanks to this view on QoS statistics, a more complete understanding of QoS parameters behavior is possible. In addition, we show how the measured statistics can be fruitfully used in the context of network control and management. More precisely, we present two proof of concepts regarding frameworks for QoS-based anomaly detection and for QoS-based identification of network elements.  相似文献
