A comparison of differently polarized Bessel vortex beams propagating through a uniaxial anisotropic slab is discussed in terms of the vector wave function expansions.The magnitude profiles of electric field components, the transformation of polarization modes, and the distributions of orbital angular momentum(OAM) states of the reflected and transmitted beams for different incident angles are numerically simulated.The results indicate that the magnitude profiles of electric field components for different polarization modes are distinct from each other and have a great dependence on the incident angle,thus the transformation of polarization modes which reflects the change of energy can be affected largely.As compared to the x and circular polarization incidences, the reflected and transmitted beams for the radial polarization incidence suffer the fewest transformation of polarization modes, showing a better energy invariance.The distributions of OAM states of the reflected and transmitted beams for different polarization modes are diverse as well, and the derived OAM states of the transmitted beam for radial polarization present a focusing effect, concentrating on the state between two predominant OAM states.  相似文献

We report a study of the momentum, angular momentum, and helicity of circularly polarized Airy beams propagating in free space. By using the vector angular spectrum representation, the explicit analytical expressions for the electric and magnetic field components of circularly polarized Airy beams are derived in detail. To overcome the drawbacks of classical kinematics formulae when applied to structured light beams, a general canonical approach is introduced to describe the momentum, angular momentum and helicity of Airy beams. Numerical simulation results for the spatial distributions of the canonical momentum, spin and orbital angular momentum, as well as the helicity densities are presented and discussed. This study may provide useful insights into the dynamical properties of Airy beams that may be important in several applications, including the optical control, micromanipulation, and information processing.  相似文献

The reflection and transmission of a finite-power Airy beam incident on a dielectric slab are investigated by an analytical method. Based on the plane-wave angular spectrum expansion and Fresnel approximation, the analytical expressions of the reflected field, internal field as well as transmitted field in each region are obtained. Through numerical simulations, the intensity distributions of the incident beam, reflected beam, internal beam as well as transmitted beam are presented at oblique incidence. Besides, we also compare the intensity distributions of the geometrical-optics beam field, the first order beam mode field and the actual beam field, which indicates that the contribution of each order beam mode field to the actual beam field is related to the refractive index of the dielectric slab. Meanwhile, the reflection characteristics of the Airy beams in the special cases of Brewster incidence and total reflection are investigated. Finally, the effects of the optical thickness and refractive index of the dielectric slab on the peak intensity distributions and beam shifts of the reflected and transmitted beams are also discussed in detail. The analytical and numerical results will be useful to analyze the propagation dynamics of Airy beam in the dielectric slab and provide some theoretical supports to the design of optical film.  相似文献

Lateral shift of X-ray beams during Bragg’s reflection from a multilayer periodic structure (MS) is studied analytically and numerically. The field distribution in the MS, as well as the displacement of reflected and transmitted beams are determined. Analytic expressions for the shifts are derived in the approximation of spectrally narrow beams. Since the shift is controlled by the phase of the reflectance (transmittance), it is possible in principle to extract information concerning the phase of reflection (transmission) by measuring the spatial shift.  相似文献

We explore the physical origin of the Brewster angle in the external and internal reflections associated with an anisotropic material. We obtain the expressions of the reflected fields and the existence condition of the Brewster angle by using the extinction theorem. It is found that the Brewster angle will occur if the total contribution of the material’s electric and magnetic dipoles to the reflected field becomes zero. In internal reflection, the requirements on the material parameters ε and μ for the Brewster angle are the same as those in external reflection, and the Brewster angle is just the refraction angle in external reflection at the incidence of the external Brewster angle. The polarization and angular dependences of the magnetorefractive effect (MRE) in metal-insulator nanocomposites in reflection and transmission geometries have been calculated in terms of the high-frequency, spin-dependent tunneling mechanism. The MRE exhibits a weak polarization and angular response at small angles of incidence. The MRE in reflection and transmission starts to grow strongly with increasing angle of incidence. The MRE in reflection in nanocomposites with metal contents corresponding to the insulating phase near the percolation threshold reaches the largest values with p-polarized light at an angle of incidence close to the Brewster angle. The results of the calculation are in a qualitative agreement with experimental data.  相似文献

We propose a new method for tailoring light structures using a double axicon holographic pattern. The light structure can be tailored using pairs of Bessel modes with different angular momentum indices, and changed into an optical wheel by combining two copropagating Bessel beams. We also demonstrated that the optical wheel obtained from a pair of Bessel beams had rotation feature over the propagation distance by introducing different axial wavenumbers between the two modes.  相似文献

提出一种由轴棱锥产生的贝塞尔光干涉整形得到具有自成像塔尔博特效应的近似无衍射局域空心光束的新方法。详细分析了两束相干同频率贝塞尔光的相互作用原理及其如何控制局域空心光束的空间尺寸。数值模拟了干涉叠加后光场沿传输距离变化的光强分布及一个完整周期内光强的演变和局域空心光束的形成过程,给出了相干贝塞尔光产生局域空心光束的个数及局域空心光束最大无衍射距离的表达式。  相似文献

We propose a simple method for generation and detection of photons with nonzero angular momentum. The method utilizes high-quality factor ring resonators that transform a plane electromagnetic wave into a wave with nonzero angular momentum, and vice versa. We show that the method is especially promising for studying high-order Bessel beams, unreachable by other techniques.  相似文献

We consider electromagnetic vector wave beams and a change in their polarization upon passage through a plane-parallel dielectric plate. A study is based on rigorous solutions of equations for an electromagnetic field.We find the structures of the transmitted and reflected fields. Applying Artmann's formula to a light beam in the TM state of wave polarization, we show analytically the existence of a large and negative Goos-H?nchen shift near the angle of the Brewster dip on reflection from a weakly absorbing semi-infinite medium. The shift is opposite that in the case of total internal reflection, and it can be an order of magnitude larger than a wavelength if the absorption of the reflecting medium is sufficiently weak. Examples are given, and the detectibility of the shift is discussed.  相似文献

Typical cases of lateral shift and deformation of the profile of two-dimensional light beams reflected from the surface of a one-dimensional photonic crystal are considered. We use harmonic modulation of the spatial dependence of dielectric permeability of a crystal, which permits one to study reflectance profiles analytically. The results of numerical calculations that were performed are presented for the cases when the angular spectrum of the incident beam is split.  相似文献

We analyze and compare the angular deviations for an optical beam reflected by and transmitted through a dielectric triangular prism. The analytic expressions derived for the angular deviations hold for arbitrary incidence angles. For incidence approaching the internal and external Brewster angles, the angular deviations transverse magnetic waves present the same behavior leading to the well‐known giant Goos‐Hänchen angular shift. For incidence near the critical angle a new region of large shift is seen both for transverse magnetic and transverse electric waves. While a direct measuring procedure is better in the vicinity of the Brewster region, a weak measurement breaks off the giant Goos‐Hänchen effect, preserving the amplification in the critical region. We discuss under which conditions it is possible to optimize the amplification and we also determine when a weak measurement is preferred to a direct measuring procedure.  相似文献

We show that among the multitude of rotating light beams whose complex amplitude can be represented as a linear superposition of the Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) modes with definite numbers there are light beams with zero orbital angular momentum (OAM) and vice versa, multi-mode LG beams that show no rotation and are lacking the radially symmetric intensity distribution can possess the non-zero OAM. Also, we give examples of the rotating light beams with zero OAM, represented as a superposition of the Bessel and new hypergeometric modes. Using an SLM, we generate a rotating Bessel beam with zero OAM for the first time.  相似文献

针对理论上推导轴锥镜的衍射光场分布解析式较为困难,且用菲涅耳衍射理论分析时存在近轴近似及不能适用于近场衍射光场分析的问题,采用了严格遵从标量衍射亥姆霍兹方程的角谱衍射波前重建方法,对轴锥镜在单色和准单色高斯光波照射下的横向和轴向衍射光强分布特性,以及在单色均匀平面光波照射下的轴向衍射光强分布进行了数值计算和分析。结果表明,轴锥镜后单色光衍射光强分布在几何光束重叠的菱形区域内为近似无衍射贝塞尔光强分布,轴上光强沿光轴方向呈振荡变化,轴上光强分布规律与入射光波的垂轴横向光强分布有关;入射光的准单色性使得贝塞尔衍射条纹对比度略下降、轴上光强沿光轴方向振荡程度减小,但分布规律与单色光一致。  相似文献

We show analytically and numerically that diamagnetic response (effective magnetic permeability mue<1) at infrared and visible frequencies can be achieved in photonic crystals composed of metallic nanowires or nanospheres when the wavelength is much larger than the lattice constant a (lambda approximately 2000a). When lambda approximately100a, the metallic photonic crystals will exhibit strong diamagnetic response (mue<0.8), leading to many interesting phenomena such as the unusual Brewster angle for s waves and incident-angle-and-polarization-independent reflection and transmission.  相似文献

Higher-order Bessel beams have been demonstrated to have the ability to trap and rotate low- and high-index particles simultaneously [Phys. Rev. A 66, 063402 (2002)]. The rotation and trapping is caused by the presence of orbital angular momentum arising from its azimuthal phase variation (that changes at integer multiples of 2pi) and the concentric rings of the Bessel mode. We demonstrate for the first time to our knowledge a branch from the family of higher-order Bessel beams that has fractional azimuthal variation at its beam axis. This new family of laser beams has the ability to perform dynamic optical manipulation with dynamic control of a spatial light modulator. Furthermore, we take the opportunity to explore the propagation characteristics of higher-order Bessel beams for which the azimuthal phase changes at noninteger multiples of 2pi.  相似文献
