We consider noncompact, closed and convex sets with nonvoid interior in Euclidean space. It is shown that if such a set has one curvature measure sufficiently close to the boundary measure, then it is congruent to a product of a vector space and a compact convex body. Related stability and characterization theorems for orthogonal disc cylinders are proved. Our arguments are based on the Steiner-Schwarz symmetrization processes and generalized Minkowski integral formulas.  相似文献

We consider the sub-Riemannian metric g h on given by the restriction of the Riemannian metric of curvature 1 to the plane distribution orthogonal to the Hopf vector field. We compute the geodesics associated to the Carnot–Carathéodory distance and we show that, depending on their curvature, they are closed or dense subsets of a Clifford torus. We study area-stationary surfaces with or without a volume constraint in (). By following the ideas and techniques by Ritoré and Rosales (Area-stationary surfaces in the Heisenberg group , arXiv:math.DG/0512547) we introduce a variational notion of mean curvature, characterize stationary surfaces, and prove classification results for complete volume-preserving area-stationary surfaces with non-empty singular set. We also use the behaviour of the Carnot–Carathéodory geodesics and the ruling property of constant mean curvature surfaces to show that the only C 2 compact, connected, embedded surfaces in () with empty singular set and constant mean curvature H such that is an irrational number, are Clifford tori. Finally we describe which are the complete rotationally invariant surfaces with constant mean curvature in (). A. We study a broad class of problems where volume is minimized among metrics on a smooth, compact Riemannian manifold that keep the length of a fixed set of curves bounded below. They can be seen as a generalization of isosystolic inequalities. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for continuous minima in a conformal class and necessary conditions are given for local minima.  相似文献

We give a proof that the sphere S6 does not admit an integrable orthogonal complex structure using simple differential geometric methods. This appears as a corollary of a general analogous result concerning pseudo-spheres.We study the twistor space of a pseudo-Riemannian manifold in both the holomorphic and pseudo-Riemannian directions. In particular, we construct the twistor space of a pseudo-sphere as a known pseudo-Kähler symmetric space. This leads to the explicit, unexpected computation of the exterior derivative of the Kähler form on the base manifold.  相似文献

Various topological properties of projective duality between real projective varieties and their duals are obtained by making use of the microlocal theory of (subanalytically) constructible sheaves developed by Kashiwara [M. Kashiwara, Index theorem for constructible sheaves, Astérisque 130 (1985) 193-209] and Kashiwara-Schapira [M. Kashiwara, P. Schapira, Sheaves on Manifolds, Grundlehren Math. Wiss., vol. 292, Springer, Berlin-Heidelberg-New York, 1990]. In particular, we prove in the real setting some results similar to the ones proved by Ernström in the complex case [L. Ernström, Topological Radon transforms and the local Euler obstruction, Duke Math. J. 76 (1994) 1-21]. For this purpose, we describe the characteristic cycles of topological Radon transforms of constructible functions in terms of curvatures of strata in real projective spaces.  相似文献

A class of spiral minimal surfaces in E3 is constructed using a symmetry reduction. The reduction leads to a cubic-nonlinear ODE whose phase portrait is described using an auxiliary Riccati's equation and the Warzewski topological principle for its solutions. The new surfaces are invariant with respect to the composition of rotation and dilation. The solutions are obtained in parametric form through the Legendre and the Weierstrass representations, and also their asymptotic behaviour is described.  相似文献

Given a compact Lie group, endowed with a bi-invariant Riemannian metric, its complexification inherits a Kähler structure having twice the kinetic energy of the metric as its potential, and Kähler reduction with reference to the adjoint action yields a stratified Kähler structure on the resulting adjoint quotient. Exploiting classical invariant theory, in particular bisymmetric functions and variants thereof, we explore the singular Poisson-Kähler geometry of this quotient. Among other things we prove that, for various compact groups, the real coordinate ring of the adjoint quotient is generated, as a Poisson algebra, by the real and imaginary parts of the fundamental characters. We also show that singular Kähler quantization of the geodesic flow on the reduced level yields the irreducible algebraic characters of the complexified group.  相似文献

We prove that the space of all oriented lines of the n-dimensional Euclidean space admits a pseudo-Riemannian metric which is invariant by the induced transitive action of a connected closed subgroup of the group of Euclidean motions, exactly when n=3 or n=7 (as usual, we consider Riemannian metrics as a particular case of pseudo-Riemannian ones). Up to equivalence, there are two such metrics for each dimension, and they are of split type and complete. When symmetries of differential equations are applied, various types of associated systems of equations appear. Compatibility conditions of the associated systems expressed in the form of differential equations inherit Lie symmetries of the initial equations. Invariant solutions to compatibility systems are known as orbits of partially invariant and generic solutions involved in the Lie group foliation of differential equations and so on. In some cases Bäcklund transformations and differential substitutions connecting quotient equations for compatibility conditions and initial systems naturally arise. Besides, Ovsiannikov's orbit method for finding partially invariant solutions is essentially based on such symmetries.  相似文献
