The medium-induced gluon radiation angular distributions of light quarks and heavy quarks outside a finite jet cone are studied. We find the effect of destructive interference between the vacuum and medium-induced radiation plays an important role in gluon radiation for very small value of path length L, which leads to the negative value of medium-induced energy loss. The medium-induced radiative energy loss outside an angle for heavy quarks is found to have a minimum and a maximum at small angle for small path length, which are caused by dead cone effect and Brownian k -broadening effect, respectively. However for large path length the minimum and maximum disappear.  相似文献

I report the most recent measurements on open heavy flavor production at RHIC on behalf of the STAR collaboration. The total charm production cross section in midrapidity at RHIC energy is found to approximately scale by number of binary collisions in d + Au, Cu + Cu and Au + Au collisions. The nuclear modification factor of non-photonic electrons is strongly suppressed in central Au + Au collisions, suggesting substantial heavy quark energy loss at RHIC. The bottom decay contribution to non-photonic electrons was studied via the eh and eD 0 azimuthal angular correlations. The bottom contribution is found to be important at p T >5 GeV/c, and is consistent with the FONLL calculation within uncertainties. Charm production through gluon jet splitting was measured by studying the D contents in the fully reconstructed jets in p+p collisions. This rate is consistent with pQCD evaluation of gluon splitting into a pair of charm quarks and subsequent hadronization.  相似文献

On the basis of the experimental data on diffractive processes in πp, pp and pˉp collisions at intermediate, moderately high and high energies, we restore the scattering amplitude related to the t-channel exchange by vacuum quantum numbers by taking account of the diffractive s-channel rescatterings. At intermediate and moderately high energies, the t-channel exchange amplitude turns, with a good accuracy, into an effective pomeron which renders the results of the additive quark model. At superhigh energies the scattering amplitude provides a Froissart-type behaviour, with an asymptotic universality of cross sections such as σtot πptot pp→ 1 at s→∞. The quark structure of hadrons being taken into account at the level of constituent quarks, the cross sections of pion and proton (antiproton) in the impact parameter space of quarks, σπ(r 1⊥, r 2⊥; s) and σp(r 1⊥, r 2⊥, r 3⊥; s), are found as functions of s. These cross sections implicate the phenomenon of colour screening: they tend to zero at |r i⊥r k⊥|→ 0. The effective colour screening radius for pion (proton) is found for different s. The predictions for the diffractive cross sections at superhigh energies are presented. Received: 15 December 1998  相似文献

We report the transverse momentum (p T ) distributions for identified charged pions, protons and anti-protons using events triggered by high deposit energy in the Barrel Electro-Magnetic Calorimeter (BEMC) from p+p collisions at  GeV. The spectra are measured around mid-rapidity (|y|<0.5) over the range of 3<p T <15 GeV/c with particle identification (PID) by the relativistic ionization energy loss (rdE/dx) in the Time Projection Chamber (TPC) of the Solenoidal Tracker at RHIC (STAR). The charged pion, proton and anti-proton spectra at high p T are compared with published results from minimum bias triggered events and the Next-Leading-Order perturbative quantum chromodynamic (NLO pQCD) calculations (DSS, KKP and AKK 2008). In addition, we present the particle ratios of π /π +, , p/π + and in p+p collisions.  相似文献

Surface plasmon-phonon polaritons (SPPP’s) of types 3 and 4 are investigated in doped anisotropic single crystals of hexagonal silicon carbide (6H-SiC) in the orientation corresponding to KC and xyC. It is shown that a dispersion dependence of the type-3 SPPP’s bounded by K appears in 6H-SiC when the plasmon frequency increases to ν p⩾350 cm−1. At ν p⩾400 cm−1, ν s(K) exists for type-4 SPPP’s in the frequency range Ω + <ν< + . When the concentration of free charge carriers is increased, the dispersion curves are displaced toward higher frequencies. The conditions for the existence of type-3 and type-4 SPPP’s in 6H-SiC are determined. Fiz. Tverd. Tela (St. Petersburg) 40, 636–639 (April 1998)  相似文献

The double differential dilepton spectrum d/(d 2 d 2) at fixed transverse mass M allows a direct access to the vector meson spectral functions. Within a fireball model the sensitivity of d/(d 2 d 2) against variations of both the in-medium properties of mesons and the dynamics of the fireball is investigated. In contrast to the integrated invariant-mass spectrum d/d 2, in the spectrum d/(d 2 d 2) with fixed M the ω signal is clearly seen as bump riding on the ρ background even in case of strong in-medium modifications.[3mm] Received: 16 November 2000 / Accepted: 16 January 2001  相似文献

We examine the possibility to utilize in-medium charmonium formation in heavy-ion interactions at collider energy as a probe of the properties of the medium. This is possible because the formation process involves recombination of charm quarks which imprints a signal on the resulting normalized transverse momentum distribution containing information about the momentum distribution of the quarks. We have contrasted the transverse momentum spectra of J/ψ, characterized by 〈p T 2〉, which result from the formation process in which the charm quark distributions are taken at opposite limits with regard to thermalization in the medium. The first uses charm quark distributions unchanged from their initial production in a pQCD process, appropriate if their interaction with the medium is negligible. The second uses charm quark distributions which are in complete thermal equilibrium with the transversely expanding medium, appropriate if a very strong interaction between charm quarks and medium exists. We find that the resulting 〈p T 2〉 of the formed J/ψ should allow one to differentiate between these extremes, and that this differentiation is not sensitive to variations in the detailed dynamics of in-medium formation. We include a comparison of predictions of this model with preliminary PHENIX measurements, which indicates compatibility with a substantial fraction of in-medium formation.  相似文献

In this paper, the quark distribution amplitudes of 1S and 2S heavy quarkonium states are studied in terms of Gaussian-type wave functions. The transverse momenta p integrals of the formulae for the decay constant are performed analytically. Then the quark distribution amplitudes are obtained. In addition, the ξ-moments are also calculated. After fixing the relevant parameters appearing in the quark distribution amplitude, the curves of the quark distribution amplitude for 1S and 2S heavy quarkonium states are plotted. Finally, the numerical results of this approach are compared with the other theoretical predictions.  相似文献

The fundamental properties of the AlN and GaN compounds with a wurtzite structure under external hydrostatic pressure, uniaxial mechanical stress σ along the hexagonal axis, and biaxial mechanical stress σ in the basal plane of the unit cell have been considered in terms of first-principles calculations in the frame-work of the density functional theory. The pressures of the phase transitions from the structures of wurtzite and zinc blende to the structure of rock salt have been obtained. The behavior of the structural parameters, interband transitions, and positions of the charge neutrality level has been investigated. The calculated pressure coefficients of the band gap are as follows: ∂E g /∂p = 40.9 meV/GPa, −∂E g /∂σ | = −4.2 meV/GPa, and −∂E g /∂σ = 45.2 meV/GPa for AlN and ∂E g /∂p = 33.0 meV/GPa, −∂E g /∂σ | = 23.6 meV/GPa, and −∂E g /∂σ = 9.6 meV/GPa for GaN. The pressure coefficients of the charge neutrality level in almost all cases are substantially smaller than the corresponding values obtained for the band gap E g .  相似文献

The study of very high transverse-momentum jets will be an important issue at the LHC, in particular since the corresponding cross sections will be considerably larger than at RHIC energies. Jets are expected to provide information on QGP formation, due to the energy loss of fast partons in the medium. Jet cross sections can in principle be compared to simple pQCD calculations, based on the hypothesis of factorization. But often it is useful or even necessary to not only compute the production rate of the very high-p T jets, but in addition the “rest of the event”. The proposed talk is based on recent work, where we try to construct an event generator—fully compatible with pQCD—which allows one to compute complete events, consisting of high-p T jets plus all the other low p T particles produced at the same time. Whereas in “generators of inclusive spectra” like Pythia one may easily trigger on high-p T phenomena, this is not so obvious for “generators of physical events”, where in principle one has to generate a very large number of events in order to finally obtain rare events (like those with a very high-p T jet). We shall discuss how we overcome these difficulties in the framework of the EPOS model.  相似文献

To test the validity of perturbative QCD (pQCD) and investigate its range of application, one should look for a suitable process. BJ/ψ D is a promising candidate. The linear momentum of the products is relatively small, so that there may exist a region where exchanged gluons are soft and the perturbative treatment may fail, so that the non-perturbative effect would be significant. We attribute such non-perturbative QCD effects to the long-distance final-state interaction (FSI) which is estimated in this work. We find that the contribution from the FSI to the branching ratio is indeed sizable and may span the rather wide range of 10−6∼10−5 and cover a region where the pQCD prediction is of the same order. A more accurate measurement of its branching ratio may provide important information about the application region of pQCD and help to clarify the picture of inelastic rescattering (i.e. FSI), which is generally believed to play an important role in B decays.  相似文献

The effect of external magnetic field H normal to the anisotropy axis on the energy and configuration of vortexlike asymmetric magnetic walls in a magnetically uniaxial film with an easy magnetic axis parallel to its surface is studied. The investigation is based on minimizing the energy functional of the film with due regard to exchange energy, magnetic anisotropy energy, magnetostatic energy, and Zeeman energy. The range of H below the anisotropy field is found where the asymmetric Néel wall is stable, unlike the case H = 0, when the asymmetric Bloch wall is stable. It is shown that an asymmetric Bloch wall becomes absolutely unstable and reconfigures into an asymmetric Néel wall at some critical values of H = H . The dependences of critical field H on the film thickness and saturation induction at different values of the anisotropy field are determined: field H depends on the thickness nonlinearly and on the saturation induction nonmonotonically.  相似文献

We derive the nonlinear k factorization for the spectrum of jets in high-mass diffractive deep inelastic scattering as a function of three hard scales—the virtuality of the photon Q 2, the transverse momentum of the jet, and the saturation scale Q A . In contrast to all other hard reactions studied so far, we encounter a clash between the two definitions of the glue in the pomeron from the inclusive spectrum of leading quarks and the small-β evolution of the diffractive cross section. This clash casts a further shadow on customary applications of the familiar collinear factorization to a pQCD analysis of diffractive deep inelastic scattering. In this paper we develop an approach to soft scattering processes at high energies which is based on two elements: the Good–Walker mechanism for low mass diffraction and multi-pomeron interactions for high mass diffraction. The principal idea, which allows us to specify the theory for pomeron interactions, is that the so called soft processes occur at rather short distances (r 2 1/〈p t 2 α≈0.01 GeV−2), where perturbative QCD is valid. The value of the pomeron slope α is obtained from a fit to the experimental data. Using this theoretical approach, we suggest a model that fits all soft data in the ISR-Tevatron energy range: total, elastic, single and double diffractive cross sections, as well as the t dependence of the differential elastic cross section, and the mass dependence of single diffraction. In this model we calculate the survival probability of diffractive Higgs production, and we obtain a value for this observable that is smaller than 1% at the LHC energy range.  相似文献

Recently, angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy measurements on Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ, which possesses two CuO2 layers in the same unit cell, have yielded very interesting results. For the overdoped samples, these results show a splitting of electronic states near k=(π, 0) point of Brillioun zone. On the other hand, no splitting is observed in the underdoped samples. In view of this, the detailed studies including the doping and temperature dependence of the spectral properties become desirable. In this paper, we consider cuprates possessing two CuO2 layers per unit cell. Each layer in the system is described by the t-t 1-J model and the two layers are coupled via an intrabilayer hopping term (t ) and an intrabilayer exchange coupling (J ). A self-consistent perturbation approach is used to calculate the electronic spectral function for different values of hole density, hole momentum and temperature. We find that the imaginary part of the self energy is strongly momentum dependent which contradicts the suggestion that the Fermi surface of cuprates may be described by marginal Fermi liquid theory. We have calculated the spectral function for various values of intrabilayer parameters t and J . For larger values of intrabilayer interactions we observe the splitting in the quasi-particle peak at k=(π, 0) which is in agreement with the recent observations. The splitting is also found to be sensitive to the hole concentration as well as the temperature of the system. We have also discussed the reasons why the splitting is absent in underdoped bilayer cuprates at low temperature.  相似文献

In this work we present the J/ψ measurement in p+p collisions within the STAR collaboration Quarkonium program. This measurements aim to be the baseline measurement of a more comprehensive systematic study of quarkonium states production in order to understand their in medium modification. Here we report the total cross section and p T distribution, and find them to be consistent with pQCD CEM predictions as well as to previous measurements at the same center-of-mass energy.  相似文献

A theory is constructed for the dynamics and braking of domain walls in ferromagnets when a magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the axis of easy magnetization (i.e., a transverse field H ). The theory is valid for velocities v up to the limiting domain wall velocity v c. The Landau-Lifshitz equations in the dissipationless approximation are used to investigate the motion of domain walls and the change in the character of the wall motion as its velocity v approaches v c. The force acting on a domain wall due to viscous friction is calculated within the framework of generalized relaxation theory, and the dependence of the domain wall velocity v on the forcing field H z is investigated. Calculations of the braking force show that the contributions of various dissipation mechanisms to the friction force have different dependences on the domain wall velocity, which affects the form of the function v=v(H z). The shapes of the curves v(H z) differ very markedly from one another for different values of the field H . The theory developed here can be used to describe the experimental results, in particular the almost linear behavior of v=v(H z) for small H and its strongly nonlinear behavior when H H a, whereas these data cannot be reconciled within the standard theory based on relaxation terms of Hilbert type. The efficiency of organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) is closely related to the position and width of recombination zone (RCZ) in the emission layer. Based on the drift–diffusion theory of carrier motion in semiconductors, we developed a numerical model for the position and width of the RCZ in bipolar single layer OLEDs. The calculation results show that for a given operation voltage, the position and width of the RCZ are determined by the mobility difference of electrons and holes, and the energy barrier at the two contacts. When the anode and cathode contact are both ohmic, then RCZ will be near the electrode, from which the low-mobility carriers are injected, and the smaller the mobility difference, the wider the RCZ, and the width of RCZ will be maximal when the mobility of holes and electrons are equal. When the anode contact is Schottky, while the cathode contact is ohmic, then the position and width of RCZ will be determined by both the mobility difference and hole–injection energy barrier. When μ p<μ n, the RCZ will be at the anode side. When μ p>μ n, then RCZ will move away from the anode and become wider, with the increase of the hole injection barrier. For a given hole–injection barrier and mobility of holes and electrons, the position and width of RCZ change with the applied voltage.  相似文献

We report a generalization of our earlier formalism [Pramana, 54, 663 (1998)] to obtain exact solutions of Einstein-Maxwell’s equations for static spheres filled with a charged fluid having anisotropic pressure and of null conductivity. Defining new variables: w=(4π/3)(ρ+ε)r 2, u=4πξr 2, v r=4πp r r 2, v =4πp r 2[ρ, ξ(=−(1/2)F 14 F 14), p r, p being respectively the energy densities of matter and electrostatic fields, radial and transverse fluid pressures whereas ε denotes the eigenvalue of the conformal Weyl tensor and interpreted as the energy density of the free gravitational field], we have recast Einstein’s field equations into a form easy to integrate. Since the system is underdetermined we make the following assumptions to solve the field equations (i) u=v r=(a 2/2κ)r n+2, v =k 1 v r, w=k 2 v r; a 2, n(>0), k 1, k 2 being constants with κ=((k 1+2)/3+k 2) and (ii) w+u=(b 2/2)r n+2, u=v r, v v r=k, with b and k as constants. In both cases the field equations are integrated completely. The first solution is regular in the metric as well as physical variables for all values of n>0. Even though the second solution contains terms like k/r 2 since Q(0)=0 it is argued that the pressure anisotropy, caused by the electric flux near the centre, can be made to vanish reducing it to the generalized Cooperstock-de la Cruz solution given in [14]. The interior solutions are shown to match with the exterior Reissner-Nordstrom solution over a fixed boundary. Dedicated to Prof. F A E Pirani.  相似文献

Boltzmann-transport equation is analytically solved for two-component magnetoplasma using Chapman-Enskog analysis to include collisional diffusion transport having anisotropies in both streaming velocity and temperature components. The modified collisional integrals are analytically solved with flux integrals and perturbed kinetic equation to arrive at drift diffusion velocity and resulting transport coefficients which are markedly affected by both streaming and temperature anisotropy. The early isotropic results are recovered in the limit V 0 = 0 and T = T which reduce to eqs (11.30) and (11.31) of [1] and eqs (2.7) and (2.13) of [2]. The electrical resistivity (η) diminishes sharply in fusion temperature limit kT = 1 keV. The shape of the curves for both electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity is rectangular hyperbolic. However, for low thermal ratio (T /T < 1), the curves are raised up and for high thermal ratio (T /T > 1), they are lowered down the isotropic case (T /T > 1), showing comparatively diminished magnitudes of the quantities.   相似文献
