First and Second Order Optimality Conditions Using Approximations for Nonsmooth Vector Optimization in Banach Spaces

We use the first and second order approximations of mappings to establish both necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for unconstrained and constrained nonsmooth vector optimization problems. Ideal solutions, efficient solutions, and weakly efficient solutions are considered. The data of the problems need not even be continuous. Some often imposed compactness assumptions are also relaxed. Examples are provided to compare our results and some known recent results.This work was partially supported by the National Basic Research Program in Natural Sciences of Vietnam.

K—very Smooth Banach Spaces

We introduce the notion of K-very smoothness which is a generalization of very smoothness in Banach spaces. A necessary and sufficient condition for a Banach space to be K-very smooth is obtained. We also consider some relations between K-very smoothness and other geometrical notions.     

Convex Optimization on Banach Spaces

Greedy algorithms which use only function evaluations are applied to convex optimization in a general Banach space \(X\). Along with algorithms that use exact evaluations, algorithms with approximate evaluations are treated. A priori upper bounds for the convergence rate of the proposed algorithms are given. These bounds depend on the smoothness of the objective function and the sparsity or compressibility (with respect to a given dictionary) of a point in \(X\) where the minimum is attained.

On Vector Variational Inequalities in Reflexive Banach Spaces

In this paper, we study the solvability for a class of vector variational inequalities in reflexive Banach spaces. By using Brouwer fixed point theorem, we prove the solvability for this class of vector variational inequalities without monotonicity assumption. The solvability results for this class of vector variational inequalities with monotone mappings are also presented by using the KKM-Fan lemma This paper is dedicated to Professor Franco Giannessi for his 68th birthday     

Asymptotically Spirallike Mappings in Reflexive Complex Banach Spaces

In this paper we consider the notion of asymptotic spirallikeness in reflexive complex Banach spaces $X$ , and the connection with univalent subordination chains. Poreda initially introduced the notion of asymptotic starlikeness to characterize biholomorphic mappings on the unit polydisc in $\mathbb{C }^{n}$ which have parametric representation in the sense of Loewner theory. The authors introduced the notions of $A$ -asymptotic spirallikeness and $A$ -parametric representation on the Euclidean unit ball of $\mathbb{C }^{n}$ , where $A\in L(\mathbb{C }^{n})$ with $m(A)>0$ . They showed that these notions are equivalent whenever $k_+(A)<2m(A)$ . In this paper we prove that if $k_+(A)<2m(A)$ and $f\in S(B)$ has $A$ -parametric representation, then $f$ is also $A$ -asymptotically spirallike on the unit ball $B$ of $X$ . For the converse, we need the additional assumption that $f$ is a smooth $A$ -asymptotically spirallike mapping, except in the finite-dimensional case $X=\mathbb{C }^{n}$ with an arbitrary norm. The notion of asymptotic spirallikeness involves differential equations and may be regarded as giving a geometric characterization of certain domains in $X$ . That is one of the motivations for considering this notion in the case of reflexive complex Banach spaces.
