In this paper we consider two nonlinear elliptic problems driven by the p-Laplacian and having a nonsmooth potential (hemivariational inequalities). The first is an eigenvalue problem and we prove that if the parameter λ < λ2 = the second eigenvalue of the p-Laplacian, then there exists a nontrivial smooth solution. The second problem is resonant both near zero and near infinity for the principal eigenvalue of the p-Laplacian. For this problem we prove a multiplicity result. Our approach is variational based on the nonsmooth critical point theory. Second author is Corresponding author.  相似文献

In this paper a method for the resolution of the differential equation of the Jacobi vector fields in the manifold V 1 = Sp(2)/SU(2) is exposed. These results are applied to determine areas and volumes of geodesic spheres and balls. A subgroup of a finite group G is said to be S-quasinormal in G if it permutes with every Sylow subgroup of G. In this paper we give a characterization of a finite group G under the assumption that every subgroup of the generalized Fitting subgroup of prime order is S-quasinormal in G.  相似文献

Let H be an atomic monoid. For let denote the set of all with the following property: There exist atoms (irreducible elements) u 1, …, u k , v 1, …, v m H with u 1· … · u k = v 1 · … · v m . We show that for a large class of noetherian domains satisfying some natural finiteness conditions, the sets are almost arithmetical progressions. Suppose that H is a Krull monoid with finite cyclic class group G such that every class contains a prime (this includes the multiplicative monoids of rings of integers of algebraic number fields). We study extensions of p-local finite groups where the kernel is a p-group. In particular, we construct examples of saturated fusion systems which do not come from finite groups, but which have normal p-subgroups such that is the fusion system of a finite group. One of the tools used to do this is the concept of a “transporter system”, which is modelled on the transporter category of a finite group, and is more general than a linking system. B. A presentation for an arbitrary group extension is well known. A generalization of the work by Conway et al. (Group Tensor1972, 25, 405–418) on central extensions has been given by Baik et al. (J. Group Theor.). As an application of this we discuss necessary and sufficient conditions for the presentation of the central extension to be p-Cockcroft, where p is a prime or 0. Finally, we present some examples of this result.  相似文献

For a positive integer N, we define the N-rank of a non singular integer d × d matrix A to be the maximum integer r such that there exists a minor of order r whose determinant is not divisible by N. Given a positive integer r, we study the growth of the minimum integer k, such that A k I has N-rank at most r, as a function of N. We show that this integer k goes to infinity faster than log N if and only if for every eigenvalue λ which is not a root of unity, the sum of the dimensions of the eigenspaces relative to eigenvalues which are multiplicatively dependent with λ and are not roots of unity, plus the dimensions of the eigenspaces relative to eigenvalues which are roots of unity, does not exceed dr − 1. This result will be applied to recover a recent theorem of Luca and Shparlinski [6] which states that the group of rational points of an ordinary elliptic curve E over a finite field with q n elements is almost cyclic, in a sense to be defined, when n goes to infinity. We will also extend this result to the product of two elliptic curves over a finite field and show that the orders of the groups of rational points of two non isogenous elliptic curves are almost coprime when n approaches infinity. For many orbital measures μ, on SU(n), we show that either μkL2 or μk is singular to L1. The least k for which μkL2 is determined and is shown to be the minimum k for which the k-fold product of the conjugacy class supporting the measure has positive measure. It would be interesting to know if all orbital measures satisfy this dichotomy.  相似文献

Let f be a cusp form of the Hecke space and let L f be the normalized L-function associated to f. Recently it has been proved that L f belongs to an axiomatically defined class of functions . We prove that when λ ≤ 2, L f is always almost primitive, i.e., that if L f is written as product of functions in , then one factor, at least, has degree zeros and hence is a Dirichlet polynomial. Moreover, we prove that if then L f is also primitive, i.e., that if L f = F 1 F 2 then F 1 (or F 2) is constant; for the factorization of non-primitive functions is studied and examples of non-primitive functions are given. At last, the subset of functions f for which L f belongs to the more familiar extended Selberg class is characterized and for these functions we obtain analogous conclusions about their (almost) primitivity in .  相似文献

We prove an upper bound for the Mahler measure of the Wronskian of a collection of N linearly independent polynomials with complex coefficients. If the coefficients of the polynomials are algebraic numbers we obtain an inequality for the absolute Weil heights of the roots of the polynomials. This later inequality is analogous to the abc inequality for polynomials, and also has applications to Diophantine problems. A set of vectors is k-independent if all its subsets with no more than k elements are linearly independent. We obtain a result concerning the maximal possible cardinality Ind q (n, k) of a k-independent set of vectors in the n-dimensional vector space F q n over the finite field F q of order q. Namely, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for Ind q (n, k) = n + 1. We conclude with some pertinent remarks re applications of our results to codes, graphs and hypercubes. We construct a three-parameter family of contact metric structures on the unit tangent sphere bundle T 1 M of a Riemannian manifold M and we study some of their special properties related to the Levi-Civita connection. More precisely, we give the necessary and sufficient conditions for a constructed contact metric structure to be K-contact, Sasakian, to satisfy some variational conditions or to define a strongly pseudo-convex CR-structure. We show that meromorphic solutions f, g of f 2 + g 2 = 1 in C2 must be constant, if f z2 and g z1 have the same zeros (counting multiplicities). We also apply the result to characterize meromorphic solutions of certain nonlinear partial differential equations.  相似文献

Let V be a finite dimensional p-adic vector space and let τ be an operator in GL(V). A probability measure μ on V is called τ-decomposable or if μ = τ(μ)* ρ for some probability measure ρ on V. Moreover, when τ is contracting, if ρ is infinitely divisible, so is μ, and if ρ is embeddable, so is μ. These two subclasses of are denoted by L 0(τ) and L 0 #(τ) respectively. When μ is infinitely divisible τ-decomposable for a contracting τ and has no idempotent factors, then it is τ-semi-selfdecomposable or operator semi-selfdecomposable. In this paper, sequences of decreasing subclasses of the above mentioned three classes, , are introduced and several properties and characterizations are studied. The results obtained here are p-adic vector space versions of those given for probability measures on Euclidean spaces.  相似文献

In the present paper we discuss in detail the cohomogeneity one isometric actions of the Lie groups SU(3) × SU(3) and SU(3) on the exceptional compact symmetric spaces G2 and G2/SO(4), respectively. We show that the principal orbits coincide with the tubular hypersurfaces around the totally geodesic singular orbits, and the symmetric spaces G2 and G2/SO(4) can be thought of as compact tubes around SU(3) and P2, respectively. Moreover, we determine the radii of these tubes and describe the shape operators of the principal orbits.  In this paper, we study partial group actions on 2-complexes. Our results include a characterization, in terms of generating sets, of when a partial group action on a connected 2-complex has a connected globalization. Using this result, we give a short combinatorial proof that a group acting without fixed points on a connected 2-complex, with finite quotient, is finitely generated. This result is then generalized to characterize finitely generated groups as precisely those groups having a partial action, without fixed points, on a finite tree, with a connected globalization. Finally, using Bass-Serre theory, we determine when a partial group action on a graph has a globalization which is a tree.
