Given an action of a complex reductive Lie group G on a normal variety X, we show that every analytically Zariski-open subset of X admitting an analytic Hilbert quotient with projective quotient space is given as the set of semistable points with respect to some G-linearised Weil divisor on X. Applying this result to Hamiltonian actions on algebraic varieties, we prove that semistability with respect to a momentum map is equivalent to GIT-semistability in the sense of Mumford and Hausen. It follows that the number of compact momentum map quotients of a given algebraic Hamiltonian G-variety is finite. As further corollary we derive a projectivity criterion for varieties with compact Kähler quotient.  相似文献

We give an axiomatic characterization of maps from algebraic K-theory. The results apply to a large class of maps from algebraic K-theory to any suitable cohomology theory or to algebraic K-theory. In particular, we obtain comparison theorems for the Chern character and Chern classes and for the Adams operations and λ-operations on higher algebraic K-theory. We show that the Adams operations and λ-operations defined by Grayson agree with the ones defined by Gillet and Soulé.  相似文献

To understand relationships between students’ quantitative reasoning with fractions and their algebraic reasoning, a clinical interview study was conducted with 18 middle and high school students. Six students with each of three different multiplicative concepts participated. This paper reports on the fractional knowledge and algebraic reasoning of six students with the most basic multiplicative concept. The fractional knowledge of these students was found to be consistent with prior research, in that the students had constructed partitioning and iteration operations but not disembedding operations, and that the students conceived of fractions as parts within wholes. The students’ iterating operations facilitated their work on algebra problems, but the lack of disembedding operations was a significant constraint in writing algebraic equations and expressions, as well as in generalizing relationships. Implications for teaching these students are discussed.  相似文献

Molodtsov introduced the concept of soft sets, which can be seen as a new mathematical tool for dealing with uncertainty. In this paper, we deal with the algebraic structure of soft sets. The lattice structures of soft sets are constructed. The concept of soft equality is introduced and some related properties are derived. It is proved that soft equality is a congruence relation with respect to some operations and the soft quotient algebra is established.  相似文献

The context for this paper is a class of distributive lattice expansions, called double quasioperator algebras (DQAs). The distinctive feature of these algebras is that their operations preserve or reverse both join and meet in each coordinate. Algebras of this type provide algebraic semantics for certain non-classical propositional logics. In particular, MV-algebras, which model the ?ukasiewicz infinite-valued logic, are DQAs.Varieties of DQAs are here studied through their canonical extensions. A variety of this type having additional operations of arity at least 2 may fail to be canonical; it is already known, for example, that the variety of MV-algebras is not. Non-canonicity occurs when basic operations have two distinct canonical extensions and both are necessary to capture the structure of the original algebra. This obstruction to canonicity is different in nature from that customarily found in other settings. A generalized notion of canonicity is introduced which is shown to circumvent the problem. In addition, generalized canonicity allows one to capture on the canonical extensions of DQAs the algebraic operations in such a way that the laws that these obey may be translated into first-order conditions on suitable frames. This correspondence may be seen as the algebraic component of duality, in a way which is made precise.In many cases of interest, binary residuated operations are present. An operation h which, coordinatewise, preserves ∨ and 0 lifts to an operation which is residuated, even when h is not. If h also preserves binary meet then the upper adjoints behave in a functional way on the frames.  相似文献

Horospheres for an action of a semisimple algebraic group G on an affine variety X are the generic orbits of a maximal unipotent subgroup U ? G or, equivalently, the generic fibers of the categorical quotient of the variety X by the action of U, which is defined by the values of the highest weight functions. The remaining fibers of this quotient (which we call degenerate horospheres) for a certain class of spherical G-varieties containing all simply connected symmetric spaces are studied.  相似文献

In this paper, we show that the full algebraic combinatorial geometry is not a projective geometry, it is only semimodular, but the p-polynomial points give a projective subgeometry. Also, we show that the subgeometry can be coordinatized by a skew field, which is quotient ring of an Ore domain. As a corollary, we prove the existence of algebraic representations over fields of prime characteristic of the non-Pappus matroid and its dual matroid. Regarding the existence of algebraic representations of the non-Pappus matroid, this result was earlier proved by Lindström [7] for finite fields.  相似文献

This paper starts with some examples and quick results on the topological entropy of continuous functions. It discusses the topological entropy on Lie groups and proves their shift properties. It proves Fried's conjecture h(φγ) <- h(φ)+h(γ) for affine maps on Lie groups. Moreover, φ and γ do not have to commute. As a corollary, it proves that entropy is invariant with isometric endomorphisms of Lie groups. Also, it discusses algebraic entropy on elementary Abelian groups and Lie groups. It proves that the topological entropy is preserved when projected from Lie group lib to its quotient space compact Lie group S1 for continuous functions lifted from the quotient space and shows that algebraic entropy in general is strictly less than topological entropy.  相似文献

We prove a conjecture of Drinfeld regarding restriction of central extensions of an algebraic group G to the commutator subgroup. As an application, we construct the “true commutator” of G. We prove certain weak versions of some celebrated results due to Alexander Vishik comparing rationality of algebraic cycles over the function field of a quadric and over the base field. The original proofs use Vishik’s symmetric operations in the algebraic cobordism theory and work only in characteristic 0. Our proofs use the modulo 2 Steenrod operations in the Chow theory and work in any characteristic ≠ 2. Our weak versions are still sufficient for existing applications. In particular, Vishik’s construction of fields of u-invariant 2 r + 1, for r ≥ 3, is extended to arbitrary characteristic ≠ 2.  相似文献

An investigation into an algebraic system with a single binary operation, called a skew-group, based on axioms of associativity; skew-commutativity (x+y+z=x+z+y); right identity; and left inverse. Definitions are given for left coset, quotient skew-group, homorphism, kernel, and subnormal skew-subgroup. Theorems are proved analogous to the Fundamental Homomorphism, First and Second Isomorphism, and Zassenhaus Theorems, for group theory.  相似文献

This paper presents a new algebraic extension of the Rayleigh quotient multigrid (RQMG) minimization algorithm to compute the smallest eigenpairs of a symmetric positive definite pencil ( A , M ). Earlier versions of RQMG minimize the Rayleigh quotient over a hierarchy of geometric grids. We replace the geometric mesh information with the algebraic information defined by an algebraic multigrid preconditioner. At each level, we minimize the Rayleigh quotient with a block preconditioned algorithm. Numerical experiments illustrate the efficiency of this new algorithm to compute several eigenpairs. The quotient of a Shimura curve by the isogeny equivalence relation is not an object of algebraic geometry. The paper shows how this quotient space becomes a geometric object in a more general geometry obtained from 'usual algebraic geometry', by adjoining a new operation; this operation looks like a 'Fermat quotient' and should be viewed as an arithmetic analogue of usual derivations.  相似文献

In this paper, we characterize the set of all binary algebraic (or polynomial) operations of an idempotent algebra that has at least one r-ary algebraic operation, (r ≥ 2), depending on every variable such that there is no an (r+2)-ary algebraic operation depending on at least (r+1) variables. We prove that this set forms a finite Boolean algebra, and then we characterize this Boolean algebra.  相似文献

In the present paper we introduce and study the notion of an equivariant pretheory (basic examples are equivariant Chow groups of Edidin and Graham, Thomason??s equivariant K-theory and equivariant algebraic cobordism). Using the language of equivariant pretheories we generalize the theorem of Karpenko and Merkurjev on G-torsors and rational cycles. As an application, to every G-torsor E and a G-equivariant pretheory we associate a ring which serves as an invariant of E. In the case of Chow groups this ring encodes the information about the motivic J-invariant of E, in the case of Grothendieck??s K 0 indexes of the respective Tits algebras and in the case of algebraic cobordism ?? it gives a quotient of the cobordism ring of G.  相似文献

Let T be a maximal torus of a connected reductive group G that acts linearly on a projective variety X so that all semi-stable points are stable. This paper compares the integration on the geometric invariant theory quotient X//G of Chow classes σ to the integration on the geometric invariant theory quotient X//T of certain lifts of σ twisted by c top(g/t), the top Chern class of the T-equivariant vector bundle induced by the quotient of the adjoint representation on the Lie algebra of G by that of T. We provide a purely algebraic proof that the ratio between any two such integrals is an invariant of the group G and that it equals the order of the Weyl group whenever the root system of G decomposes into irreducible root systems of type A n , for various $ n\in \mathbb{N} $ . As a corollary, we are able to remove this restriction on root systems by applying a related result of Martin from symplectic geometry.  相似文献

We will prove that any two-dimensional quotient of an affine space modulo a reductive algebraic group is isomorphic to a quotient of C2 modulo a finite group. We consider free algebraic actions of the additive group of complex numbers on a complex vector space X embedded in the complex projective space. We find an explicit formula for the map p that assigns to a generic point x ? X the Chow point of the closure of the orbit through x.
