Nikishin systems of three functions are considered. For such systems, the rate of convergence of simultaneous interpolating rational approximations with partially prescribed poles is studied. The solution is described in terms of the solution of a vector equilibrium problem in the presence of a vector external field.  相似文献

We present an approximate numerical solution to generalized Burgers and Burgers-Huxley systems with two coupled equations using the ADM-Padé technique which is a combination of the Adomian decomposition method and Padé approximation. The Padé technique is used to enhance the accuracy and speed up the convergence rate of the truncated series solution produced by the ADM. Results are given in graphical form for explicit examples of the two systems.  相似文献

This is the second part of a note on interpolation by real polynomials of several real variables. For certain regular knot systems (geometric or regular meshes, tensor product grids), Neville-Aitken algorithms are derived explicitly. By application of a projectivity they can be extended in a simple way to arbitrary (k+1)-pencil lattices as recently introduced by Lee and Phillips. A numerical example is given.Partially supported by CICYT Res. Grant PS87-0060.Travel Grant Programa Europa 1991, CAI Zaragoza.  相似文献

The general scheme, suggested in [1] using a basis of an infinite-dimensional space and allowing to construct finite-dimensional orthogonal systems and interpolation formulas, is improved in the paper. This results particularly in a generalization of the well-known scheme by which periodic interpolatory wavelets are constructed. A number of systems which do not satisfy all the conditions for multiresolution analysis but have some useful properties are introduced and investigated.

Starting with general constructions in Hilbert spaces, we give a more careful consideration to the case connected with the classic Fourier basis.

Convergence of expansions which are similar to partial sums of the summation method of Fourier series, as well as convergence of interpolation formulas are considered.

Some applications to fast calculation of Fourier coefficients and to solution of integrodifferential equations are given. The corresponding numerical results have been obtained by means of MATHEMATICA 3.0 system.  相似文献

The concern of this paper is the study of local approximation properties of the de la Vallée Poussin means Vn. We derive the complete asymptotic expansion of the operators Vn and their derivatives as n tends to infinity. It turns out that the appropriate representation is a series of reciprocal factorials. All coefficients are calculated explicitly.  相似文献

Interpolation problems for analytic radial basis functions like the Gaussian and inverse multiquadrics can degenerate in two ways: the radial basis functions can be scaled to become increasingly flat, or the data points coalesce in the limit while the radial basis functions stay fixed. Both cases call for a careful regularization, which, if carried out explicitly, yields a preconditioning technique for the degenerating linear systems behind these interpolation problems. This paper deals with both cases. For the increasingly flat limit, we recover results by Larsson and Fornberg together with Lee, Yoon, and Yoon concerning convergence of interpolants towards polynomials. With slight modifications, the same technique can also handle scenarios with coalescing data points for fixed radial basis functions. The results show that the degenerating local Lagrange interpolation problems converge towards certain Hermite–Birkhoff problems. This is an important prerequisite for dealing with approximation by radial basis functions adaptively, using freely varying data sites.  相似文献

Given a function f on a bounded open subset Ω of with a Lipschitz-continuous boundary, we obtain a Sobolev bound involving the values of f at finitely many points of . This result improves previous ones due to Narcowich et al. (Math Comp 74, 743–763, 2005), and Wendland and Rieger (Numer Math 101, 643–662, 2005). We then apply the Sobolev bound to derive error estimates for interpolating and smoothing (m, s)-splines. In the case of smoothing, noisy data as well as exact data are considered.  相似文献

Abstract. In this paper, the rates of convergence for some probability type operators sequence are obtained. The quantitative Poisson type limit theorem is established as an application.  相似文献

In this paper, we construct a univariate quasi-interpolation operator to non-uniformly distributed data by cubic multiquadric functions. This operator is practical, as it does not require derivatives of the being approximated function at endpoints. Furthermore, it possesses univariate quadratic polynomial reproduction property, strict convexity-preserving and shape-preserving of order 3 properties, and a higher convergence rate. Finally, some numerical experiments are shown to compare the approximation capacity of our quasi-interpolation operator with that of Wu and Schaback’s quasi-interpolation scheme.  相似文献

A non-uniform, variational refinement scheme is presented for computing piecewise linear curves that minimize a certain discrete energy functional subject to convex constraints on the error from interpolation. Optimality conditions are derived for both the fixed and free-knot problems. These conditions are expressed in terms of jumps in certain (discrete) derivatives. A computational algorithm is given that applies to constraints whose boundaries are either piecewise linear or spherical. The results are applied to closed periodic curves, open curves with various boundary conditions, and (approximate) Hermite interpolation.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce and study a new sequence of positive linear operators acting on the space of Lebesgue-integrable functions on the unit interval. These operators are defined by means of continuous selections of Borel measures and generalize the Kantorovich operators. We investigate their approximation properties by presenting several estimates of the rate of convergence by means of suitable moduli of smoothness. Some shape preserving properties are also shown. Multiresolution representations of data are powerful tools in data compression. For a proper adaptation to the edges, a good strategy is to consider a nonlinear approach. Thus, one needs to control the stability of these representations. In this paper, 2D multiresolution processing algorithms that ensure this stability are introduced. A prescribed accuracy is ensured by these strategies.  相似文献

Summary An analog of the well-known Jackson-Bernstein-Zygmund theory on best approximation by trigonometric polynomials is developed for approximation methods which use piecewise polynomial functions. Interpolation and best approximation by polynomial splines, Hermite and finite element functions are examples of such methods. A direct theorem is proven for methods which are stable, quasi-linear and optimally accurate for sufficiently smooth functions. These assumptions are known to be satisfied in many cases of practical interest. Under a certain additional assumption, on the family of meshes, an inverse theorem is proven which shows that the direct theorem is sharp. The work presented in this paper was supported by the ERDA Mathematics and Computing Laboratory, Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University, under Contract E(11-1)-3077 with the Energy Research and Development Administration.  相似文献

The two main theorems are concerned with the approximations of (complex-valued) functions on the real plane by sums of Bernstein pseudoentire functions. They are formulated and proved in Section 4, after prior determination of the suitable integral operators. Analogous results for pseudopolynomial approximations were obtained by Brudnyî, Gonska, and Jetter ([2],[3]).Research supported by KBN grant 2 1079 91 01.  相似文献

A simple, yet powerful approach to model order reduction of large-scale linear dynamical systems is to employ projection onto block Krylov subspaces. The transfer functions of the resulting reduced-order models of such projection methods can be characterized as Padé-type approximants of the transfer function of the original large-scale system. If the original system exhibits certain symmetries, then the reduced-order models are considerably more accurate than the theory for general systems predicts. In this paper, the framework of J-Hermitian linear dynamical systems is used to establish a general result about this higher accuracy. In particular, it is shown that in the case of J-Hermitian linear dynamical systems, the reduced-order transfer functions match twice as many Taylor coefficients of the original transfer function as in the general case. An application to the SPRIM algorithm for order reduction of general RCL electrical networks is discussed.  相似文献

The problem of constructing a univariate rational interpolant or Padé approximant for given data can be solved in various equivalent ways: one can compute the explicit solution of the system of interpolation or approximation conditions, or one can start a recursive algorithm, or one can obtain the rational function as the convergent of an interpolating or corresponding continued fraction. In case of multivariate functions general order systems of interpolation conditions for a multivariate rational interpolant and general order systems of approximation conditions for a multivariate Padé approximant were respectively solved in [6] and [9]. Equivalent recursive computation schemes were given in [3] for the rational interpolation case and in [5] for the Padé approximation case. At that moment we stated that the next step was to write the general order rational interpolants and Padé approximants as the convergent of a multivariate continued fraction so that the univariate equivalence of the three main defining techniques was also established for the multivariate case: algebraic relations, recurrence relations, continued fractions. In this paper a multivariate qd-like algorithm is developed that serves this purpose.  相似文献

Quasi-interpolation of radial basis functions on finite grids is a very useful strategy in approximation theory and its applications. A notable strongpoint of the strategy is to obtain directly the approximants without the need to solve any linear system of equations. For radial basis functions with Gaussian kernel, there have been more studies on the interpolation and quasi-interpolation on infinite grids. This paper investigates the approximation by quasi-interpolation operators with Gaussian kernel on the compact interval. The approximation errors for two classes of function with compact support sets are estimated. Furthermore, the approximation errors of derivatives of the approximants to the corresponding derivatives of the approximated functions are estimated. Finally, the numerical experiments are presented to confirm the accuracy of the approximations.  相似文献

In this paper, we give an equivalent theorem concerning on the whole interval [0, +∞). Both the direct and converse theorems are derived. These results bridge the gap between the point-wise conclusions and global conclusions.  相似文献
