The often-studied problem of the response of a fluid-loaded thin elastic plate to external forcing is considered again, with the aim of determining those “free waves” of the coupled system which can actually be excited. General properties of the quintic equation whose roots yield the free wavenumbers can be used to establish the character of those roots, and a generalized “coincidence condition” can be given at which the nature of the roots changes. It is argued, however, and demonstrated, that in general no significance can be attached to this condition or to any of the roots except that relating to the undamped subsonic surface wave. The far field contributions associated with all other waves, including the so-called “leaky waves”, may be altered merely by change of integration path from the stationary phase contour to the steepest descent contour in the complex wavenumber plane, and thus these contributions, which are exponentially small with distance, do not represent physically meaningful free modes. It is shown, however, that if a second limit process, associated with small fluid loading, is considered simultaneously with the far field limit, then the leaky waves can be unambiguously identified over a large, but not too large, range of distances, and that for such distances these waves generate a conical or plane beam (in three or two dimensions, respectively). 相似文献

For an accurate approximation of the effect of a thin layer over a finite substrate, we consider the displacements are continuous across the interface, while the stress components are obtained from derivatives of displacements. As a result, the stress boundary conditions are transformed to a relationship between stresses in the vicinity of the interface of two layers and density of the metal layer. Through this approximation, we eventually have four equations to solve for the surface acoustic wave dispersion relation of the two-layer structure. The approximate and accurate results are compared with good agreement for small thickness of the metal layer. These results are intended for periodic structures with separate solutions for electroded and unelectroded regions, which can be connected by the continuity boundary conditions for the analysis of the complete structure of typical surface acoustic wave resonators. 相似文献

Green's function in the interior of penetrable bodies with inhomogeneous compressibility by sources placed inside them is evaluated through a Schwinger-Lippmann volume integral equation. In the case of a radial inhomogeneous sphere, the radial part of the unknown Green's function can be expanded in a double Dini's series, which allows analytical evaluation of the involved cumbersome integrals. The simple case treated here can be extended to more difficult situations involving inhomogeneous density as well as to the corresponding electromagnetic or elastic problem. The spatio-temporal dynamics of the deformation of a vibrated plate is measured by a high speed Fourier transform profilometry
technique. The space-time Fourier spectrum is analyzed. It displays a behavior consistent with the premises of the Weak Turbulence
theory. A isotropic continuous spectrum of waves is excited with a non linear dispersion relation slightly shifted from the
linear dispersion relation. The spectral width of the dispersion relation is also measured. The non linearity of this system
is weak as expected from the theory. Finite size effects are discussed. Despite a qualitative agreement with the theory, a
quantitative mismatch is observed which origin may be due to the dissipation that ultimately absorbs the energy flux of the

An approximate method is presented for estimating the sound power radiated by an infinite plate, supported elastically along parallel, equi-spaced lines and subjected to a simple pressure field convecting uniformly over the plate in a direction perpendicular to the supports. Suitable complex modes are assumed for the induced plate flexural wave motion, and an energy method is used to estimate the plate response and the radiated sound power. The effect on the plate response of the acoustic loading is taken into account. The influence of the convection velocity (which may be subsonic) and of certain plate parameters is investigated. 相似文献

The field-induced reorientation of the magnetization of ferromagnetic films is treated within the framework of many-body Green's
function theory by considering all components of the magnetization. We present a new method for the calculation of expectation
values in terms of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the equations of motion matrix for the set of Green's functions. This
formulation allows a straightforward extension of the monolayer case to thin films with many layers and for arbitrary spin
and moreover provides a practicable procedure for numerical computation. The model Hamiltonian includes a Heisenberg term,
an external magnetic field, a second-order uniaxial single-ion anisotropy, and the magnetic dipole-dipole coupling. We utilize
the Tyablikov (RPA) decoupling for the exchange interaction terms and the Anderson-Callen decoupling for the anisotropy terms.
The dipole coupling is treated in the mean-field approximation, a procedure which we demonstrate to be a sufficiently good
approximation for realistic coupling strengths. We apply the new method to monolayers with spin and to multilayer systems with S=1. We compare some of our results to those where mean-field theory (MFT) is applied to all interactions, pointing out some
significant differences.

Active modal control simulation of vibro-acoustic response of a fluid-loaded plate is presented. The active modal control of the vibro-acoustic response is implemented using piezoelectric actuators/sensors. The active modal damping is added to the coupled system via negative velocity feedback. The feedback gain between the piezoelectric actuators/sensors for the modal control is obtained using the in-vacuo modal matrix and the incompressible fluid-loaded modal matrix. The modal control performance of structural vibration and acoustic radiation of a baffled plate is numerically studied. It is shown that the proposed method increases the modal damping ratio and achieves reduction in the mean square velocity and the sound power for given modes of the fluid-loaded plate. 相似文献

It is demonstrated that the wind instability in a nonuniform flow with a velocity profile can give rise to elastic oscillations
of a thin plate with a characteristic wavelength. The dispersion relations and the instability increment with a maximum in
the long-wavelength range are obtained.

Green's functions are derived for elastic waves generated by a volume source in a homogeneous isotropic half-space. The context is sources at shallow burial depths, for which surface (Rayleigh) and bulk waves, both longitudinal and transverse, can be generated with comparable magnitudes. Two approaches are followed. First, the Green's function is expanded with respect to eigenmodes that correspond to Rayleigh waves. While bulk waves are thus ignored, this approximation is valid on the surface far from the source, where the Rayleigh wave modes dominate. The second approach employs an angular spectrum that accounts for the bulk waves and yields a solution that may be separated into two terms. One is associated with bulk waves, the other with Rayleigh waves. The latter is proved to be identical to the Green's function obtained following the first approach. The Green's function obtained via angular spectrum decomposition is analyzed numerically in the time domain for different burial depths and distances to the receiver, and for parameters relevant to seismo-acoustic detection of land mines and other buried objects. 相似文献

This paper investigates the reconstruction of elastic Green's function from the cross-correlation of waves excited by random noise in the context of scattering theory. Using a general operator equation-the resolvent formula-Green's function reconstruction is established when the noise sources satisfy an equipartition condition. In an inhomogeneous medium, the operator formalism leads to generalized forms of optical theorem involving the off-shell T-matrix of elastic waves, which describes scattering in the near-field. The role of temporal absorption in the formulation of the theorem is discussed. Previously established symmetry and reciprocity relations involving the on-shell T-matrix are recovered in the usual far-field and infinitesimal absorption limits. The theory is applied to a point scattering model for elastic waves. The T-matrix of the point scatterer incorporating all recurrent scattering loops is obtained by a regularization procedure. The physical significance of the point scatterer is discussed. In particular this model satisfies the off-shell version of the generalized optical theorem. The link between equipartition and Green's function reconstruction in a scattering medium is discussed. 相似文献
