Golumbic, Monma, and Trotter showed that every tolerance graph for which no vertex neighborhood is contained in another vertex neighborhood is a bounded tolerance graph. We strengthen this result by weakening the neighborhood condition. In this way, more tolerance graphs can be recognized as bounded. In 2003, Borodin and Raspaud proved that if G is a plane graph without 5-circuits and without triangles of distance less than four, then G is 3-colorable. DP-coloring of a simple graph is a generalization of list coloring, and also a generalization of signed coloring of signed graphs. It is known that for each k{3,4,5,6}, every planar graph without Ck is 4-choosable. Furthermore, Jin et al. (2016) showed that for each k{3,4,5,6}, every signed planar graph without Ck is signed 4-choosable. In this paper, we show that for each k{3,4,5,6}, every planar graph without Ck is 4-DP-colorable, which is an extension of the above results.  相似文献

Weighted event graphs (in short WEG) are widely used to model industrial problems and embedded systems. In an optimization context, fast algorithms checking the liveness of a marked WEG must be developed. The purpose of this paper is to develop a sufficient condition of liveness of a WEG. We first show that any unitary WEG can be transformed into a graph in which the values of the arcs adjacent to any transition depend on the transition. Then, a simple sufficient condition of liveness can be expressed on this new graph and polynomially computed. This condition is shown to be necessary for a circuit with two transitions.  相似文献

It is shown that the vertex connectivity of the block-intersection graph of a balanced incomplete block design,BIBD (v, k, 1), is equal to its minimum degree. A similar statement is proved for the edge connectivity of the block-intersection graph of a pairwise balanced design,PBD (v, K, 1). A partial result on the vertex connectivity of these graphs is also given. Minimal vertex and edge cuts for the corresponding graphs are characterized.Research supported in part by a B.C. Let A(n, k, t) denote the smallest integer e for which every k‐connected graph on n vertices can be made (k + t)‐connected by adding e new edges. We determine A(n, k, t) for all values of n, k, and t in the case of (directed and undirected) edge‐connectivity and also for directed vertex‐connectivity. The algebraic connectivity of G is the second smallest eigenvalue of its Laplacian matrix. Let Un be the set of all unicyclic graphs of order n. In this paper, we will provide the ordering of unicyclic graphs in Un up to the last seven graphs according to their algebraic connectivities when n≥13. This extends the results of Liu and Liu [Y. Liu, Y. Liu, The ordering of unicyclic graphs with the smallest algebraic connectivity, Discrete Math. 309 (2009) 4315-4325] and Guo [J.-M. Let D be a directed graph with vertex set V, arc set A, and order n. The graph underlyingD is the graph obtained from D by replacing each arc (u,v)∈A by an undirected edge {u,v} and then replacing each double edge by a single edge. An anti-directed (hamiltonian) cycleH in D is a (hamiltonian) cycle in the graph underlying D such that no pair of consecutive arcs in H form a directed path in D. An anti-directed 2-factor in D is a vertex-disjoint collection of anti-directed cycles in D that span V. It was proved in Busch et al. (submitted for publication) [3] that if the indegree and the outdegree of each vertex of D is greater than then D contains an anti-directed Hamilton cycle. In this paper we prove that given a directed graph D, the problem of determining whether D has an anti-directed 2-factor is NP-complete, and we use a proof technique similar to the one used in Busch et al. A proper vertex coloring of a graph G = (V, E) is acyclic if G contains no bicolored cycle. Given a list assignment L = {L(v)|vV} of G, we say G is acyclically L‐list colorable if there exists a proper acyclic coloring π of G such that π(v)∈L(v) for all vV. If G is acyclically L‐list colorable for any list assignment with |L(v)|≥k for all vV, then G is acyclically k‐choosable. In this article we prove that every planar graph without 4‐cycles and without intersecting triangles is acyclically 5‐choosable. This improves the result in [M. Chen and W. In this paper, by using an analogue of theorems of Iwasawa (Kenkichi Iwasawa Collected Papers, vol. 2, Springer, Berlin, 2001, pp. 862-870) we give a sufficient condition for Leopoldt's conjecture (J. Reine Angew. Math. 209 (1962) 54) on the non-vanishing of the p-adic regulator of an algebraic number field. Using this sufficient condition we are able to prove Leopoldt's conjecture for several non-Galois extensions over the rational number field Q.  相似文献
