We use Nummelin splitting in continuous time in order to prove laws of iterated logarithm for additive functionals of a Harris recurrent Markov process, with deterministic or random renormalization.  相似文献

Summary We study an invariance principle for additive functionals of nonsymmetric Markov processes with singular mean forward velocities. We generalize results of Kipnis and Varadhan [KV] and De Masi et al. [De] in two directions: Markov processes are non-symmetric, and mean forward velocities are distributions. We study continuous time Markov processes. We use our result to homogenize non-symmetric reflecting diffusions in random domains.  相似文献

We establish contiguity of families of probability measures indexed by T, as T → ∞, for classes of continuous time stochastic processes which are either stationary diffusions or Gaussian processes with known covariance. In most cases, and in all the examples we consider in Section 4, the covariance is completely determined by observing the process continuously over any finite interval of time. Many important consequences pertaining to properties of tests and estimators, outlined in Section 5, will then apply.  相似文献

We are interested in the genealogical structure of alleles for a Bienaymé–Galton–Watson branching process with neutral mutations (infinite alleles model), in the situation where the initial population is large and the mutation rate small. We shall establish that for an appropriate regime, the process of the sizes of the allelic sub-families converges in distribution to a certain continuous state branching process (i.e. a Ji?ina process) in discrete time. Itô’s excursion theory and the Lévy–Itô decomposition of subordinators provide fundamental insights for the results.  相似文献

In Gapeev and Kühn (2005) [8], the Dynkin game corresponding to perpetual convertible bonds was considered, when driven by a Brownian motion and a compound Poisson process with exponential jumps. We consider the same stochastic game but driven by a spectrally positive Lévy process. We establish a complete solution to the game indicating four principle parameter regimes as well as characterizing the occurrence of continuous and smooth fit. In Gapeev and Kühn (2005) [8], the method of proof was mainly based on solving a free boundary value problem. In this paper, we instead use fluctuation theory and an auxiliary optimal stopping problem to find a solution to the game.  相似文献

We consider a one dimensional ballistic random walk evolving in an i.i.d. parametric random environment. We provide a maximum likelihood estimation procedure of the parameters based on a single observation of the path till the time it reaches a distant site, and prove that the estimator is consistent as the distant site tends to infinity. Our main tool consists in using the link between random walks and branching processes in random environments and explicitly characterising the limiting distribution of the process that arises. We also explore the numerical performance of our estimation procedure.  相似文献

We investigate the properties of a class of discrete multivariate distributions whose univariate marginals have ordered categories, all the bivariate marginals, like in the Plackett distribution, have log-odds ratios which do not depend on cut points and all higher-order interactions are constrained to 0. We show that this class of distributions may be interpreted as a discretized version of a multivariate continuous distribution having univariate logistic marginals. Convenient features of this class relative to the class of ordered probit models (the discretized version of the multivariate normal) are highlighted. Relevant properties of this distribution like quadratic log-linear expansion, invariance to collapsing of adjacent categories, properties related to positive dependence, marginalization and conditioning are discussed briefly. When continuous explanatory variables are available, regression models may be fitted to relate the univariate logits (as in a proportional odds model) and the log-odds ratios to covariates.  相似文献

We consider an initial Eve-population and a population of neutral mutants, such that the total population dies out in finite time. We describe the evolution of the Eve-population and the total population with continuous state branching processes, and the neutral mutation procedure can be seen as an immigration process with intensity proportional to the size of the population. First we establish a Williams’ decomposition of the genealogy of the total population given by a continuum random tree, according to the ancestral lineage of the last individual alive. This allows us to give a closed formula for the probability of simultaneous extinction of the Eve-population and the total population.  相似文献

We consider a continuous semi-martingale sampled at hitting times of an irregular grid. The goal of this work is to analyze the asymptotic behavior of the realized volatility under this rather natural observation scheme. This framework strongly differs from the well understood situations when the sampling times are deterministic or when the grid is regular. Indeed, neither Gaussian approximations nor symmetry properties can be used. In this setting, as the distance between two consecutive barriers tends to zero, we establish central limit theorems for the normalized error of the realized volatility. In particular, we show that there is no bias in the limiting process.  相似文献

By using absolutely continuous lower bounds of the Lévy measure, explicit gradient estimates are derived for the semigroup of the corresponding Lévy process with a linear drift. A derivative formula is presented for the conditional distribution of the process at time t under the condition that the process jumps before t. Finally, by using bounded perturbations of the Lévy measure, the resulting gradient estimates are extended to linear SDEs driven by Lévy-type processes.  相似文献

It is known that in the critical case the conditional least squares estimator (CLSE) of the offspring mean of a discrete time branching process with immigration is not asymptotically normal. If the offspring variance tends to zero, it is normal with normalization factor n2/3n2/3. We study a situation of its asymptotic normality in the case of non-degenerate offspring distribution for the process with time-dependent immigration, whose mean and variance vary regularly with non-negative exponents αα and ββ, respectively. We prove that if β<1+2αβ<1+2α, the CLSE is asymptotically normal with two different normalization factors and if β>1+2αβ>1+2α, its limit distribution is not normal but can be expressed in terms of the distribution of certain functionals of the time-changed Wiener process. When β=1+2αβ=1+2α the limit distribution depends on the behavior of the slowly varying parts of the mean and variance.  相似文献

The paper develops a way of embedding general martingales in continuous ones in such a way that the quadratic variation of the continuous martingale has conditional cumulants (given the original martingale) that are explicitly given in terms of optional and predictable variations of the original process. Bartlett identities for the conditional cumulants are also found. A main corollary to these results is the establishment of second (and in some cases higher) order asymptotic expansions for martingales.Research supported in part by National Science Foundation grant DMS 93-05601 and Army Research Office grant DAAH04-1-0105  相似文献

We develop a martingale-based decomposition for a general class of quadratic forms of Markov chains, which resembles the well-known Hoeffding decomposition of UU-statistics of i.i.d. data up to a reminder term. To illustrate the applicability of our results, we discuss how this decomposition may be used to studying the large-sample properties of certain statistics in two problems: (i) we examine the asymptotic behavior of lag-window estimators in time series, and (ii) we derive an asymptotic linear representation and limiting distribution of UU-statistics with varying kernels in time series. We also discuss simplified examples of interest in statistics and econometrics.  相似文献

In this article we investigate the nonparametric estimation of the jump density of a compound Poisson process from the discrete observation of one trajectory over [0,T][0,T]. We consider the case where the sampling rate Δ=ΔT→0Δ=ΔT0 as T→∞T. We propose an adaptive wavelet threshold density estimator and study its performance for LpLp losses, p≥1p1, over Besov spaces. The main novelty is that we achieve minimax rates of convergence for sampling rates ΔTΔT that vanish slowly. The estimation procedure is based on the explicit inversion of the operator giving the law of the increments as a nonlinear transformation of the jump density.  相似文献

A general branching process begins with a single individual born at time t=0. At random ages during its random lifespan L it gives birth to offspring, N(t) being the number born in the age interval [0,t]. Each offspring behaves as a probabilistically independent copy of the initial individual. Let Z(t) be the population at time t, and let N=N(∞). Theorem: If a general branching process is critical, i. e E{N}=1, and if σ2=E {N(N?1)}<∞, 0<a≡0 tdE{N(t)},and as t → ∞ both t2(1?E {N(t)})→0 and t2P[L>t]→0, then tP[Z(t)>0]→2aσ2 as t→∞.  相似文献

In this article we consider a toy example of an optimal stopping problem driven by fragmentation processes. We show that one can work with the concept of stopping lines to formulate the notion of an optimal stopping problem and moreover, to reduce it to a classical optimal stopping problem for a generalized Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process associated with Bertoin’s tagged fragment. We go on to solve the latter using a classical verification technique thanks to the application of aspects of the modern theory of integrated exponential Lévy processes.  相似文献

A new discrete distribution depending on two parameters, α<1,α≠0 and 0<θ<1, is introduced in this paper. The new distribution is unimodal with a zero vertex and overdispersion (mean larger than the variance) and underdispersion (mean lower than the variance) are encountered depending on the values of its parameters. Besides, an equation for the probability density function of the compound version, when the claim severities are discrete is derived. The particular case obtained when α tends to zero is reduced to the geometric distribution. Thus, the geometric distribution can be considered as a limiting case of the new distribution. After reviewing some of its properties, we investigated the problem of parameter estimation. Expected frequencies were calculated for numerous examples, including short and long tailed count data, providing a very satisfactory fit.  相似文献

The joint distribution of maximum increase and decrease for Brownian motion up to an independent exponential time is computed. This is achieved by decomposing the Brownian path at the hitting times of the infimum and the supremum before the exponential time. It is seen that an important element in our formula is the distribution of the maximum decrease for the three-dimensional Bessel process with drift started from 0 and stopped at the first hitting of a given level. From the joint distribution of the maximum increase and decrease it is possible to calculate the correlation coefficient between these at a fixed time and this is seen to be .  相似文献

We study the problem of parameter estimation for the continuous state branching processes with immigration, observed at discrete time points. The weighted conditional least square estimators (WCLSEs) are used for the drift parameters. Under the proper moment conditions, asymptotic distributions of the WCLSEs are obtained in the supercritical, sub- or critical cases.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a general linear model in a continuous time. We propose a decomposition of the process which helps us to understand the structure of the model. Moreover, the sufficiency of the BLUE estimator of the expectation of the process can be characterized in terms of the Gaussian character of a component of the decomposition.  相似文献
