Using the preliminary data on BdB̄d mixing from ARGUS, and the standard model with three families, we infer a lower bound on the top quark mass of 50–70 GeV; also, BsB̄s mixing has to be close to maximal. Recent data from ARGUS gives an unexpectedly large Bd mixing. Combined with a previous limit on Bd, Bs mixing from MARK II, it appears that while Bd mixing is sizeable, Bs mixing may be non-maximal. This may contradict the three-generation standard model. We discuss the implications of this possibility on the existence of a fourth generation. More reliable information can come from a study of B mixing at the (5S) and is therefore strongly urged. 相似文献

$ \bar Bd \to \bar K*^0 $μ+μ? is a rare flavor-changing neutral-current decay. It proceeds via a b → s quark transition and is sensitive to many classes of new physics model. In this article the theoretical framework relevant to making a measurement at LHCb, the precision flavor experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, will be introduced. Progress made towards using a full angular analysis to extract AFB, the forward-backward asymmetry of the μ pair, will be covered and its implications for the precision of the AFB zero-crossing-point measurement discussed. 相似文献
