进行了基于光纤预啁啾和自相位调制的多模/单模组合式全光纤啁啾谱压缩研究.提出利用多模光纤模式估计群速度色散均值的方法,并将该估计值作为啁啾参量分析的计算参数,仿真计算了50/125μm折射率渐变多模光纤的群速度色散均值及其与单模光纤在不同长度比值下的光谱压缩效果.采用三种折射率渐变多模光纤进行实验,对比分析了折射率渐变多模光纤的芯径大小及其与单模光纤的长度比值对光谱压缩效果的影响.实验结果表明使用50/125μm折射率渐变多模光纤获得光谱最大压缩比为5.796,谱宽为2.243 nm,与理论仿真一致;使用105/125μm折射率渐变多模光纤,可进一步提高压缩比至152.941,输出谱宽为0.085 nm的光脉冲.将此脉冲用于相干反斯托克斯拉曼散射光谱探测,理论光谱分辨率可达1.386 cm~(-1).  相似文献

Polarization-maintaining fiber amplifier using ytterbium-doped single-mode fiber (SMF) is proposed. A 45° Faraday rotator mirror (FRM) and a polarization independent fiber loop circulator (FLC) with polarization-maintaining fiber (PMF) pigtails are used to realize double-pass amplification and birefringence self-compensation. Arbitrary state of polarization (SOP) such as the linear polarization and elliptical polarization can be maintained. Polarization-maintaining amplification of phase modulated pulse with this amplifier is experimentally demonstrated while introducing little intensity modulation itself.  相似文献

We built an atmosphere dispersion model of femtosecond laser pulses that can calculate temporal pulse width travelling in air. The initial pulse duration of 100 fs can be broadened to 60 ps when propagating 200 km in the atmosphere. An experimental system has been established to compensate the large dispersion propagating 200 km in the atmosphere. The single model fiber (SMF) and the prism pairs were, respectively, used for coarse and fine compensation in the system. The pulse duration was consistently regulated 150 fs by moving the distance of prism pairs. This method can reach submicron resolution for a long distance by means of time of flight measurement.  相似文献

由于空间环境中宇宙辐射无处不在,工作在空间环境的光纤系统必须考虑辐致损伤特性。建立了10GHz的射频光纤链路传输系统,分别采用单模光纤和保偏光纤作为传输媒质。利用60 Co`γ射线源,在剂量率1rad/s总剂量50krad下,对射频光纤链路进行辐照实验,对两种系统做对比分析。实验结果表明,单模光纤链路的辐致损耗绝对值较大,保偏光纤链路的辐致损耗绝对值较小;单模光纤的幂律模型指数较保偏光纤大,即同样的辐照剂量,单模光纤受影响程度大。在辐照起主要影响因素的阶段,单模光纤延时差受辐照影响程度较保偏光纤稍小。辐致损耗和辐致延时差对光纤长度都有线性累加作用。从整体水平看,50krad的辐射总剂量对两种光纤造成的损伤并不大,传输的信号仍在可用的范围之内。  相似文献

文章根据平稳重调脉冲(SRP)在梳状光纤(CPF)结构中的压缩原理,对色散渐减光纤(DDF)的色散特性进行设计,结果发现该色散渐减光纤的色散特性呈线性递减.对于平稳重调脉冲其压缩比与功率比等于光纤始末两端二阶色散系数的比值.当色散渐减光纤的斜率足够小时,无啁啾基阶孤子可以近似为平稳重调脉冲,当色散渐减光纤的色散斜率较大时,无啁啾基阶孤子不能近似为平稳重调脉冲.当基阶孤子带有与光纤色散斜率成正比的线性啁啾时,脉冲的压缩比与功率比更接近于光纤始末两端二阶色散系数的比值.说明带有线性啁啾的基阶孤子比不带啁啾的基阶孤子更接近于平稳重调脉冲. 关键词: 平稳重调脉冲(SRP) 梳状光纤(CPF) 色散渐减光纤(DDF) 色散递减表达式  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a strictly all-fiber, erbium doped passively mode-locked figure-eight fiber laser (EDFL). In the laser structure, we use the nonlinear optical loop mirror combination with a variable ratio coupler (VRC-NOLM) to achieve mode-locking. Due to the nonlinear effect in the nonlinear fiber, stable self-starting pulse is obtained. In order to reduce the repetition of pulse, a segment of nonlinear fiber (NLF) has been incorporated into the VRC-NOLM. The laser generates stable rectangular pulses with a low repetition rate (kilohertz magnitude) by extending the length of the cavity. Furthermore, the output pulse width of the fiber laser can be varied by changing the coupler ratio of the variable ratio coupler.  相似文献

When a pulse superposed on a cw background propagates through an erbium-doped fiber amplifier with a negative group velocity, either pulse broadening or pulse compression can be observed. These effects can be explained in terms of two competing mechanisms: gain recovery and pulse spectrum broadening. The distortion of the pulse shape caused by these effects depends on input pulse width, pump power, and background-to-pulse power ratio. With the proper choice of these three parameters, we can obtain significant pulse advancement with minimal pulse distortion.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate a new wavelength- and mode-selective coupler utilizing intermodal coupling between a standard single-mode fiber (SMF) and a hollow optical fiber (HOF). The fabricated device routes optical signals such that a 1.3-microm signal is directed to the HOF port, adiabatically converting the LP(01) mode into a ring-shaped mode, which can be further connected to a gigabit ethernet link, reducing the differential mode-dispersion penalty. Optical signals near 1.5microm , meanwhile, stay in the LP(01) mode of the SMF arm for further connection to conventional wavelength-division multiplexing links based on erbium-doped fiber amplifiers. The performance of the device is characterized in terms of insertion loss, channel isolation, and mode-conversion efficiency.  相似文献

In this paper, we numerically and experimentally study two methods to generate 20-GHz pulse trains at 1550 nm from a dual-frequency beat-signal. The first method is based on the multiple four-wave mixing temporal compression occurring in the anomalous dispersion regime of a standard optical fiber (SMF). In the second original method, the initial sinusoidal signal is first converted into a parabolic pulses train through nonlinear propagation in a normally dispersive fiber. A subsequent linear compression in an anomalous dispersive fiber leads to well-separated picosecond pulses.  相似文献

分析了利用光纤中的受激布里渊散射(stimulated Brillouin scattering,SBS)相位共轭效应进行激光腔内调Q,产生ns量级脉冲激光的原理,并对利用该效应产生的激光脉冲波形和脉冲形成过程进行了数值模拟,得到的脉冲波形与SBS相位共轭反射率随时间变化曲线基本一致,表明利用光纤中的SBS相位共轭作用调Q具有可行性.据此,对采用单模光纤(single-mode fiber,SMF)作为SBS池的Er3+掺杂调Q光纤激光器进行实验研究.当单模光纤长度为1.5 m时,在45 mW的光抽运功率下得到脉宽约2.6ns,脉冲周期58.23ns,平均功率7.35mW的激光脉冲.进一步的研究表明:激光器中相位共轭镜的形成与SBS介质长度有关,SBS介质过长,斯托克斯线之间无固定的相位关系,不能形成相干叠加,SBS相位共轭腔不能形成;SBS介质过短,腔内正交偏振模光子寿命的改变使脉冲出现双峰现象.脉冲形成后其属性只与SBS动态属性有关.  相似文献

High-Order Mode Dispersion Compensating Modules (HOM-DCM) using spatial optical transformations for mode conversion are reviewed. It is shown that mode transformers using this technology can be designed to transform the LP01 mode of SMF fibers to the LP02 mode of specially designed dispersion compensating High-Order Mode Fiber (HOMF), with typical insertion loss of ∼1 dB, and typical extinction ratio to other modes less than -20 dB. The HOMF itself can provide high negative dispersion [typically in the range of 400-600 ps/(nm km)], and high negative dispersion slope, allowing efficient compensation of all types of transmission fiber. Combining two mode transformers with HOMF and possibly trim fiber for fine-tuning, results, for example, in a HOM-DCM that compensates 100 km LEAF? fiber, with Insertion loss < 3.5 dB, and Multi-Path Interference (MPI) < -36 dB. MPI phenomena in HOM-DCMs is characterized, and shown to comprise both coherent and incoherent parts, and to result from both the mode transformers and fiber coupling within the HOMF. MPI values of < -36 dB have been shown to allow error free transmission of 10 Gb/s signals over up to 6000 km. Finally, a number of applications well suited to the properties of HOM-DCMs are reviewed.  相似文献

以不同滤波器带宽下获得的全正色散光纤激光器耗散孤子作为啁啾脉冲放大(CPA)系统的种子脉冲, 研究了光栅对和光纤展宽器CPA系统输出脉冲的可压缩性. 结果表明, 对于大能量耗散孤子种子脉冲, 当CPA系统采用正色散光纤展宽器时, 光纤群速色散与自相位调制之间的相互作用不仅可抑制耗散孤子脉冲光谱调制的影响, 还可使脉冲在光纤展宽器中自相似演化, 从而可提高CPA输出脉冲的可压缩性. 通过优化光纤展宽器长度, 对于耗散孤子种子源, 采用光纤展宽器的CPA系统输出脉冲可压缩性与主脉冲所占脉冲总能量之比均优于采用光栅对展宽器时的情况.  相似文献

We propose novel photonic microwave multi-tap filters using a section of Hi-Bi fiber in a round-trip configuration, together with their application in a 20 km single mode fiber (SMF) radio-over-fiber (RoF) link. We demonstrate for the first time that the effect of chromatic dispersion in these multi-tap filters can be reduced in an RoF link when a linearly chirped fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is adopted. This result can be used to combat radio frequency power fading in an RoF link. The configurations are free from optical coherent interference and phase noise. Measured results show 3-tap filters with notch rejections greater than 35 dB and suppression of the level of secondary sidelobes by adjusting a polarization controller. A stationary rescaled pulse (SRP) exists in a dispersion-managed comblike profiled fiber (DM-CPF) that consists of alternate concatenations of normal-dispersion highly nonlinear fiber and single-mode fiber. Numerical analysis reveals that the newly found SRP exhibits a nearly Gaussian temporal profile with a small amount of pedestal in spite of a relatively large compression ratio. We apply the SRP propagation to optical pulse compression based on DM-CPF and demonstrate highly efficient and high-quality optical pulse compression. Using a three-step DM-CPF, we experimentally show that a 2.6 ps width input pulse is successfully compressed to a nearly Gaussian pulse having the width of 0.39 ps and the peak-to-pedestal ratio of 19.3 dB.  相似文献

We report on an optical fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer made by offset splicing a dual-mode fiber with two single-mode fibers. The extinction ratio can be tuned from less than 1 dB to greater than 28 dB by rotating the dual-mode fiber along its axial direction. The interferometer is utilized as a pulse shaper to convert a 2.5 ps Gaussian pulse to a 5.2 ps flat-top pulse.  相似文献

A novel optical approach is proposed to generate millimeter wave (MMW) pulse signal based on the pulse reshaping of superstructure fiber Bragg grating (SSFBG). In our scheme, one input pico-second Gaussian pulse is transformed into n Gaussian pulses by the SSFBG reshaping firstly, and then the pulse train is replicated to form a required frequency modulation MMW optical pulse envelope by the linear chirped fiber Bragg grating (LCFBG) or other highly dispersive element. The high-speed photodetector (PD) and band-pass filter can transform the MMW optical pulse into an MMW pulse signal ultimately. Depending on this scheme, MMW signals with frequency up to 10 GHz can be easily generated by the completed fiber components.  相似文献

We experimentally investigate the benefits of a new optical pulse coding technique for long-range, meter and submeter scale Raman-based distributed temperature sensing on standard single-mode optical fibers. The proposed scheme combines a low-repetition-rate quasi-periodic pulse coding technique with the use of standard high-power fiber lasers operating at 1550 nm, allowing for what we believe is the first long-range distributed temperature measurement over single-mode fibers (SMFs). We have achieved 1 m spatial resolution over 26 km of SMF, attaining 3°C temperature resolution within 30 s measurement time.  相似文献

A multiwavelength laser comb using 2.49 m Bismuth-oxide erbium-doped fiber (Bi-EDF) with different lengths of large effective area fiber (LEAF) in a ring cavity configuration is realized. The Bi-EDF is used as the linear gain medium and LEAF is used as the non-linear gain medium for stimulated Brillouin scattering. Out of the four different lengths, the longest length of 25 km LEAF exhibits the widest tuning range of 44 nm (1576 to 1620 nm) in the L-band at 264 mW pump power and 5 mW Brillouin pump power. In addition, a total of 15 output channels are achieved with total average output power of −8 dBm from this laser structure. All Brillouin Stokes signals exhibit high peak power of above −20 dBm per signal and their optical signal-to-noise ratio of greater than 15 dB.  相似文献

A novel coherent Doppler lidar (CDL) system based on single-mode fiber (SMF) components and instruments is presented to measure the speed of target. A fiber interferometer used in CDL system is reported.This fiber mixer is employed as a coherent receiver to resolve the shifts of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and mixing efficiency induced by backscattered field's wavefront error. For a certain wavelength, the maximum coupling efficiency between signal and SMF is determined by the ratio of pupil diameter to focal length of the coupling lens. The legible interference patterns and spectrum signals show that fiber interferometer is suitable to compensate for amplitude and phase vibrations. This robust coherent receiver can achieve improved CDL system performance with less transmitter power.  相似文献

Wave-breaking often occurs when a short intense optical pulse propagates in a long normally dispersive optical fiber. This effect has conventionally been avoided in fiber (super-)continuum-based pulse compression because the accumulated frequency chirp of the output pulse cannot be fully compensated by a standard prism (or grating) pair. Thus, the spectral extending capability of the wave-breaking has not been utilized to shorten the compressed pulse. We demonstrate that wave-breaking-free operation is not necessary if a 4f pulse shaper-based compressor is employed to remove both the linear and nonlinear chirp of the output pulse. By propagating a 180 fs (FWHM) input pulse in a nonlinear photonic crystal fiber beyond the wave-breaking limit, we compress the wave-breaking-extended supercontinuum output pulse to the bandwidth-limited duration of 6.4 fs (FWHM). The combination of high compression ratio (28×) and short pulse width represents a significant improvement over that attained in the wave-breaking-free regime.  相似文献
