In order to improve the performance of the double-clad fiber laser, the optimum laser length needs to be estimated prior to the experiment. Previous expressions for the optimum length of fiber laser have been established under some assumptions, such as the output power without laser scattering loss and the pump power without reflection in the output-end. In this work, the issue of optimum laser length has been analyzed theoretically based on the strongly pumped fiber laser model. An extended expression for the optimum length of the linear cavity Yb3+-doped double-clad fiber laser is obtained. The respective effects of the laser scattering loss, the pump power, the Yb3+ dopant concentration, and the pump reflection on the optimum laser length are identified.  相似文献

 分析了双包层光纤激光器(DCFL)耦合方程的解析解,并对信号光散射损耗、后腔镜泵浦反射率等影响掺镱DCFL斜线效率的典型参数进行了理论研究。结果表明,斜线效率并不是随着后腔镜泵浦反射率的升高而单调增大,因为泵浦反射率的升高会影响光纤的最佳长度,从而降低斜线效率。所以在优化斜线效率时应该考虑到泵浦反射率和光纤最佳长度之间的匹配。同时,提高纤芯掺杂浓度、减小信号光散射损耗也能增大斜线效率。  相似文献

提出了一种利用45°半透半反分束镜和角锥反射器实现两路光纤激光器的能量相互注入,从而获得相干合成激光输出的新方法,分析了其锁相原理.在实验上成功实现了两路独立振荡双包层光纤激光器的互注入锁相输出,在远场观察到了清晰稳定的干涉条纹(可见度约0.57),获得了超过10W的相干合成激光输出,功率合成效率约为76%.实验表明,这种互注入锁相方法可以在更高功率条件下运行,是光纤激光相干合成领域一种有前途的新技术. 关键词: 光纤激光器 相干合成 互注入锁相  相似文献

A special slow motion dynamic equations are presented especially adapt to the fiber laser analyze in which a long working cycle simulation and acute state changing are both needed. It can greatly save the calculation time while keep the output result relatively accurate. Then the dynamics of nanosecond high energy low repetition rate pulsed fiber amplifier is analyzed which indicate that most energy is wasted by means of self emission between pulses and the amplified self emission (ASE) is no longer the main cause of energy depletion with proper pulsed pump. Hence, unless a relatively large input seed source is used, the light conversion efficiency of a low repetition rate pulsed laser is usually much lower than the quantum efficiency even with a pulsed pump.  相似文献

 通过热传导方程和边界条件得到高功率双包层光纤激光器温度分布的简化解析解,利用ANSYS模拟验证了简化的合理性,并以双包层的掺镱光纤激光器为例,把外包层的临界温度设定为80 ℃,计算了光纤激光器在自然对流、风扇制冷和水制冷条件下最大输出功率。计算结果表明:自然对流的情况下,对流传热系数为10 W·m-2·K-1时,光纤激光器的最大输出功率为105 W;风扇制冷的情况下,对流传热系数为80 W·m-2·K-1时,光纤激光器的最大输出功率820 W;要达到kW以上功率输出,必须对光纤进行主动水冷。  相似文献

Based on space-dependent rate equation, the lowest threshold input power for diode end-pumped solid state lasers is obtained for pump spot size wp → 0. However, when the pump beam waist is decreased, the far-field half-angle increases due to the same beam quality, which will influence the match between the pump volume and mode volume. Most importantly, when the pump beam waist is decreased, the temperature and temperature gradient in the laser rod would be very high due to the resulting heat, which would cause material distortion, variation of refractive index, instability of laser resonator etc. We analyze the temperature distributions with different pump beam sizes and conclude that the condition wpw0 (the radius of the laser beam at the laser rod) is often taken as a rough guide to the optimum case.  相似文献

In this letter, the theoretical model and rate equations of Ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber amplifiers are introduced. The output performance of fiber amplifiers is analyzed through numerical simulations considering three main factors: active fiber length, pump power, and dopant concentration. It is found that the output signal power experiences a stable growth and then decreases rapidly as the active fiber length becomes longer. It is also revealed that the dopant concentration shows similar effects as active fiber length on the output signal power of fiber amplifiers.  相似文献

 建立了高功率掺镱双包层光纤激光器的速率方程模型与热应力模型,对影响受激拉曼散射效应和热应力效应的关键参数(如纤芯半径、光纤长度、泵浦波长、泵浦方式)进行了数值模拟。结果表明:对于较小的纤芯半径,光纤内的斯托克斯光功率较大且增长迅速,因此增加纤芯半径能有效减弱受激拉曼散射效应;减小光纤长度能提高受激拉曼散射的阈值,而纤芯的热应力也增大,因此在不出现热应力引起光纤断裂的情况下,可以减小光纤长度以提高输出功率;采用976 nm波段泵浦源能提高输出功率,降低热应力的影响;两端均匀泵浦方式可以有效降低纤芯热应力,同时维持高功率输出。  相似文献

高功率掺镱光纤激光器在空间环境中的应用日益增多,但掺镱光纤材料在空间辐照条件下会产生色心效应,导致损耗增加,影响光纤器件以及激光器整机的性能,从而给高功率光纤激光器在空间环境的长期稳定工作带来隐患。从空间辐照对高功率光纤激光器性能的影响机理、抑制方法和研究进展等3个方面进行介绍。首先介绍了空间辐照对高功率掺镱光纤激光器中关键光学器件、放大级热负载、非线性效应等方面的影响分析,其次介绍了抑制辐照效应的典型方法及其在高功率掺镱光纤激光器中的可行性分析,最后介绍了国内外典型的高功率掺镱光纤激光器的辐照影响及抑制的研究成果,并展望了未来发展趋势。  相似文献

We report on a theoretical and experimental study of an all-normal-dispersion (ANDi) Yb-doped mode-locked fiber laser, in which nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) is used to realize mode-locking without any dispersion compensation. Based on the coupled nonlinear Schrdinger (CNLS) equation, a model simulating the mode-locked process of an allnormal-dispersion ring fiber laser is developed, which shows that the achievement of stable mode-locking depends on the alignment of the polarization controller (PC) along the fast-polarization axis of the fiber, the birefringence intensity, and the net cavity dispersion. According to the theoretical analysis, stable mode-locked pulses with pulse duration 300 ps and average output power 33.9mW at repetition rate 36MHz are obtained.  相似文献

Fiber laser resonator configurations have been analyzed theoretically on the basis of steady-state rate equations to optimize the laser conversion efficiency. Evolution of the pump- and signal powers and the saturated gain coefficient along the length of the laser medium has been simulated for high- and low-finesse resonators in forward- and backward pumping schemes. The corresponding fiber laser configurations have been setup to verify the results of simulation. Backward pumping configuration in an Yb-doped fiber laser has been found to be the most efficient, and in this configuration a maximum cw output power of 10.75 W in single transverse mode with an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 62.5% has been achieved. The laser output spectrum was peaked at 1093 nm with full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) line-width of about 9 nm. In the low-finesse resonator configuration, it has been found that experimental observations differ from theoretical simulation results. In this case, output power from both ends ceases to increase linearly beyond 1.8 W, and starts fluctuating due to the onset of strong random self-pulsing phenomenon. Our investigation shows that a non-uniform steady-state gain along the fiber length facilitates the self-pulsing process.  相似文献

Recent advances in power scaling of Yb+ 3-doped fiber lasers to the kilowatt level suggest a need to examine the performance of Yb+ 3-doped silica at temperatures well above ambient. We report experimental results for the absorption coefficient, emission cross-section, fluorescence lifetime, and slope efficiency of a Yb3+-doped large mode area (LMA) silica fiber for temperatures spanning 23 °C-977 °C. To the best of our knowledge these are the highest temperatures to date for which these optical properties have been measured. We find a sharp reduction in the energy storing capability and lasing performance of Yb+ 3:SiO2 above 500 °C that coincides with the onset of non-radiative transitions in the excited state manifold (thermal quenching). As the temperature increases from room temperature to 977 °C, absorption in the 1020-1120 nm operating band increases monotonically, concurrent with a reduction in absorption at the 920-nm and 977-nm pumping bands. Conversely, the spectral weight of the emission cross-section shifts from transitions above 1010 nm to those below, with the exception of the 977-nm emission band.  相似文献

A double clad solid silica fiber is newly designed for applications which need the high efficiency operation of two colors of light. Ultrashort pulses with a central wavelength of 800?nm are delivered by the core of the double clad fiber which can realize the transmission of the optical pulses with a net chromatic dispersion of zero. This is achieved by integrating the double clad fiber with a pair of long period gratings, which allows optical pulses to propagate in a higher order mode (LP02) in the middle of the fiber as well as in a fundamental mode (LP01) at the beginning and end of the fiber. The index profile of the double clad fiber is engineered so that the higher order mode has high anomalous dispersion that can be used to compensate for normal dispersion of the fundamental mode. By controlling the lengths of the fiber where pulses are in a fundamental and in a higher order modes, the fiber with total zero dispersion can be realized. The double clad fiber can collect 100?% of visible light within the numerical aperture of 0.21 with a loss of the optical pulses less than 1?%. The design of this fiber is essential for applications including fiber-optic nonlinear imaging for compactness, robustness, and low optical power loss in dispersion compensation.  相似文献

Spectral and power properties of the pulse-periodic tunable diode lasers based on lead salts with double heterostructure grown by MBE are considered. Procedure and criteria of preliminary selection of the laser samples are discussed. Typical characteristics of such lasers are presented. Methods for controlling the spectral and power properties in the pulse mode are considered. General mechanisms of laser wavelength tuning by current and temperature variations are demonstrated on the basis of experimental data. Michelson腔技术是实现激光相干合成的有效方案. 利用Michelson腔技术, 实现了全光纤结构下的两路光纤激光器的相干合成, 获得了功率为11.75 W, 效率为95.76%的相干输出. 实验研究了相干合成效率与激光腔长差的关系以及抽运对称性对相干合成效率的影响. 实验表明相干合成效率极易受激光腔长差的影响, 不同腔长差下相干合成效率差异可达18%以上, 且存在最佳腔长差; 抽运对称性对相干合成效率的影响在2%以内.  相似文献
