We call a subgroup H of a group G nearly s-normal in G if there exists N ? G such that HN ? G and HN ≤ H sG , where H sG is the largest s-permutable subgroup of G contained in H. In this article, we obtain some results about the nearly s-normal subgroups and use them to characterize the structure of finite groups.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group and cd(G) be the set of irreducible character degrees of G. Bertram Huppert conjectured that if H is a finite nonabelian simple group such that cd(G) = cd(H), then G ? H × A, where A is an abelian group. We examine arguments to verify this conjecture for the simple groups of Lie type of rank two. To illustrate our arguments, we extend Huppert's results and verify the conjecture for the simple linear and unitary groups of rank two.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group. A subgroup H of a group G is said to be c-supplemented in G if there exists a subgroup K of G such that G = HK and H ∩ K ≤ H G , where H G  = Core G (H) is the largest normal subgroup of G contained in H. In this article, we investigate the structure of a finite group G under the assumption that subgroups of prime order are c-supplemented in G. Moreover, we analyze the structure of a group G when the minimal subgroups of the generalized Fitting subgroup F?(G) of G are c-supplemented in G through the theory of formations.  相似文献

SupposeH is a hyperbolic subgroup of a hyperbolic groupG. Assume there existsn > 0 such that the intersection ofn essentially distinct conjugates ofH is always finite. Further assumeG splits overH with hyperbolic vertex and edge groups and the two inclusions ofH are quasi-isometric embeddings. ThenH is quasiconvex inG. This answers a question of Swarup and provides a partial converse to the main theorem of [23].  相似文献

A subgroup of a group G is said to be Sylow-quasinormal (S-quasinormal) in G if it permutes with every Sylow subgroup of G. A subgroup H of a group G is said to be Supplement-Sylow-quasinormal (SS-quasinormal) in G if there is a supplement B of H to G such that H is permutable with every Sylow subgroup of B. In this article, we investigate the influence of SS-quasinormal of maximal or minimal subgroups of Sylow subgroups of the generalized Fitting subgroup of a finite group.  相似文献

Let H be a subgroup of a finite group G. H is said to be λ-supplemented in G if G has a subgroup T such that G = HT and HT ≤ H SE , where H SE denotes the subgroup of H generated by all those subgroups of H, which are S-quasinormally embedded in G. In this article, some results about the λ-supplemented subgroups are obtained, by which we determine the structure of some classes of finite groups. In particular, some new characterizations of p-supersolubility of finite groups are given under the assumption that some primary subgroups are λ-supplemented. As applications, a number of previous known results are generalized.  相似文献

A subgroup H is called ?-supplemented in a finite group G, if there exists a subgroup B of G such that G = HB and H 1 B is a proper subgroup of G for any maximal subgroup H 1 of H. In this article, we investigate the influence of ?-supplementation of some primary subgroups in finite groups. Some new results about supersolvable groups and formation are obtained.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a finite group G is said to be “semi-cover-avoiding in G” if there is a chief series of G such that H covers or avoids every chief factor of the chief series. In this article, some new characterizations for finite solvable groups are obtained based on the assumption that some subgroups have semi-cover-avoiding properties in the groups.  相似文献

Let G be a reductive algebraic group over an algebraically closed field  of characteristic zero and H a closed subgroup of G. Explicit constructions of G-invariant ideals in the algebra [G/H] are given. This allows to obtain an elementary proof of Matsushima's criterion: the homogeneous space G/H is an affine variety if and only if H is reductive.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a finite group G is called a QTI-subgroup if C G (x) ≤ N G (H) for any 1 ≠ x ∈ H. In this article, the finite groups all of whose second maximal subgroup are QTI-subgroups are classified.  相似文献

We consider the following two finiteness conditions on normalizers and centralizers in a group G: (i) |NG(H) : H| < ∞ for every H ? G, and (ii) |CG(x):?x?|<∞ for every ?x??G. We show that (i) and (ii) are equivalent in the classes of locally finite groups and locally nilpotent groups. In both cases, the groups satisfying these conditions are a special kind of cyclic extensions of Dedekind groups. We also study a variation of (i) and (ii), where the requirement of finiteness is replaced with a bound. In this setting, we extend our analysis to the classes of periodic locally graded groups and non-periodic groups. While the two conditions are still equivalent in the former case, in the latter the condition about normalizers is stronger than that about centralizers.  相似文献

We call a subgroup H of a finite group G c-supplemented in G if there exists a subgroup K of G such that G = HK and HK ⩽ core(H). In this paper it is proved that a finite group G is p-nilpotent if G is S 4-free and every minimal subgroup of PG N is c-supplemented in N G (P), and when p = 2 P is quaternion-free, where p is the smallest prime number dividing the order of G, P a Sylow p-subgroup of G. As some applications of this result, some known results are generalized.  相似文献

Given a group G denote with exp(G) its exponent, which is the least common multiple of the order of its elements. In this paper, we solve the problem of finding the finite simple groups having a proper subgroup with the same exponent. For each G with this property we will provide an explicit example of H<G with exp(G)?=?exp(H).  相似文献

Abstract

Let G a simple group of type 2 B 2(q) or 2 G 2(q), where q is an odd power of 2 or 3, respectively. The main goal of this paper is to determine the multiplicity free permutation representations of G and A ≤ Aut(G) where A is a subgroup containing a copy of G. Let B be a Borel subgroup of G. If G = 2 B 2(q) we show that there is only one non-trivial multiplicity free permutation representation, namely the representation of G associated to the action on G/B. If G = 2 G 2(q) we show that there are exactly two such non-trivial representations, namely the representations of G associated to the action on G/B and the action on G/M, where M = UC with U the maximal unipotent subgroup of B and C the unique subgroup of index 2 in the maximal split torus of B. The multiplicity free permutation representations of A correspond to the actions on A/H where H is isomorphic to a subgroup containing B if G = 2 B 2(q), and containing M if G = 2 G 2(q). The problem of determining the multiplicity free representations of the finite simple groups is important, for example, in the classification of distance-transitive graphs.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a finite group G is said to be s-permutable in G if H permutes with every Sylow subgroup of G. In this article, some sufficient conditions for a finite group G to be p-nilpotent are given whenever all subgroups with order p m of a Sylow p-subgroup of G are s-permutable for a given positive integer m.  相似文献

A subgroup A of a finite group G is called {1≤G}-embedded in G if for each two subgroups KH of G, where K is a maximal subgroup of H, A either covers the pair (K,H) or avoids it. Moreover, a subgroup H of G is called nearly m-embedded in G if G has a subgroup T and a {1≤G}-embedded subgroup C such that G?=?HT and HTCH. In this paper, we mainly prove that G is solvable if and only if its Sylow 3-subgroups, Sylow 5-subgroups and Sylow 7-subgroups are nearly m-embedded in G.  相似文献

The influence of s-conditionally permutable subgroups on finite groups   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A subgroup H of a group G is called s-conditionally permutable in G if for every Sylow subgroup T of G there exists an element x ∈ G such that HTx = TxH. Using the concept of s-conditionally permutable subgroups, some new characterizations of finite groups are obtained and several interesting results are generalized.  相似文献

A subgroup H is called Q-supplemented in a finite group G, if there exists a subgroup K of G such that G = HK and H ∩ K is contained in H QG , where H QG is the maximal quasinormal subgroup of G contained in H. In this article, we investigate the influence of Q-supplementation of some primary subgroups in finite groups. Some recent results are generalized.  相似文献

Let G be the simple, simply connected algebraic group SL 3 defined over an algebraically closed field K of characteristic p > 0. In this article, we find H 2(G, V) for any irreducible G-module V. When p > 7, we also find H 2(G(q), V) for any irreducible G(q)-module V for the finite Chevalley groups G(q) = SL(3, q) where q is a power of p.  相似文献

The intersection graph of a group G is an undirected graph without loops and multiple edges defined as follows: the vertex set is the set of all proper non-trivial subgroups of G, and there is an edge between two distinct vertices H and K if and only if HK≠1 where 1 denotes the trivial subgroup of G. In this paper we classify all finite groups whose intersection graphs are K3,3-free.  相似文献
