The asymptotic distributions of zeros of the quadratic Hermite--Pad\'{e}
polynomials $p_{n},q_{n},r_{n}\in{\cal P}_{n}$ associated with the exponential function are studied for $n\rightarrow\infty$.
The polynomials are defined by the relation
$$(*)\qquad p_{n}(z)+q_{n}(z)e^{z}+r_{n}(z)e^{2z}=O(z^{3n+2})\qquad\mbox{as} \quad z\rightarrow0,$$
and they form the basis for quadratic Hermite--Pad\'{e} approximants to $e^{z}$. In order to achieve a differentiated picture
of the asymptotic behavior of the zeros, the independent variable $z$ is rescaled in such a way that all zeros of the polynomials
$p_{n},q_{n},r_{n}$ have finite cluster points as $n\rightarrow\infty$. The asymptotic relations, which are proved, have a
precision that is high enough to distinguish the positions of individual zeros. In addition to the zeros of the polynomials
$p_{n},q_{n},r_{n}$, also the zeros of the remainder term of (*) are studied. The investigations complement asymptotic results

In the present work we expand our previous work in [1] by introducing the Julia Deviation Distance and the Julia Deviation Plot in order to study the stability of the Julia sets of noise-perturbed Mandelbrot maps. We observe a power-law behaviour of the Julia Deviation Distance of the Julia sets of a family of additive dynamic noise Mandelbrot maps from the Julia set of the Mandelbrot map as a function of the noise level. Additionally, using the above tools, we support the invariance of the Julia set of a noise-perturbed Mandelbrot map under different noise realizations. 相似文献

We examine inverse limits of postcritically finite polynomials restricted to their Julia sets. We define the “trunk” of a Julia set, a forward-invariant set related to the Hubbard tree, and use it to show that the inverse limit always contains at least one indecomposable subcontinuum. We characterize when the inverse limit is indecomposable and also examine how the trunk behaves in the inverse limit. 相似文献

A quadratic spline is a differentiable piecewise quadratic function. Many problems in the numerical analysis and optimization literature can be reformulated as unconstrained minimizations of quadratic splines. However, only special cases of quadratic splines have been studied in the existing literature and algorithms have been developed on a case-by-case basis. There lacks an analytical representation of a general or even convex quadratic spline. The current paper fills this gap by providing an analytical representation of a general quadratic spline. Furthermore, for a convex quadratic spline, it is shown that the representation can be refined in the neighborhood of a nondegenerate point and a set of nondegenerate minimizers. Based on these characterizations, many existing algorithms for specific convex quadratic splines are also finitely convergent for a general convex quadratic spline. Finally, we study the relationship between the convexity of a quadratic spline function and the monotonicity of the corresponding linear complementarity problem. It is shown that, although both conditions lead to easy solvability of the problem, they are different in general.This project was initiated when the first author was visiting the Technical University of Denmark and Erasmus University. In this paper, we further develop the left-definite and right-definite spectral theory associated with the self-adjoint differential operator A in L2(-1,1), generated from the classical second-order Legendre differential equation, having the sequence of Legendre polynomials as eigenfunctions. Specifically, we determine the first three left-definite spaces associated with the pair (L2(-1,1),A). As a consequence of these results, we determine the explicit domain of both the associated left-definite operator A1, first observed by Everitt, and the self-adjoint operator A1/2. In addition, we give a new characterization of the domain D(A) of A and, as a corollary, we present a new proof of the Everitt-Mari result which gives optimal global smoothness of functions in D(A). 相似文献
