The molecular geometry and vibrational frequencies of melaminium citrate in the ground state have been calculated using the Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional method (B3LYP) with 6-31G(d) basis set. The optimized geometric bond lengths and bond angles obtained by using HF and density functional theory (DFT, B3LYP) show the best agreement with the experimental data. Comparison of the observed fundamental vibrational frequencies of melaminium citrate and calculated results by density functional B3LYP and Hartree-Fock methods indicate that B3LYP is superior to the scaled Hartree-Fock approach for molecular vibrational problems.  相似文献

Eleven possible conformers of glycylglycine have been studied by using the BLYP, B3LYP methods of density functional theory and the HF method at the basis set of 6-311++G**. BLYP (using Becke's and Lee-Yang-Parr's correlation functionals), ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and hybrid DFT/HF B3LYP calculations have been carried out to study the structure and vibrational spectra of glycylglycine. Glycylglycine crystal structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The title compound has been crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group C1, with Z=4. And the unit cell parameters are: a=8.1184(12)A, b=9.5542(14)A, c=7.8192(11)A and V=577.95(15)A(3). Molecular conformation calculations have got 11 possible conformers. In these possible conformers, the most stable one has been selected. The BLYP/6-311++G** and scaled HF/6-311++G** frequencies correspond well with available experimental assignments of the normal vibrational modes. Comparison of the observed fundamental vibrational frequencies of glycylglycine and calculated results by density functional B3LYP and Hartree-Fock (HF) methods indicates that B3LYP is superior to the scaled Hartree-Fock (HF) for molecular vibrational issues.  相似文献

Molecular geometry, vibrational wavenumbers and gauge including atomic orbital (GIAO) 13C NMR and 1H NMR chemical shift values of 1,3-phenylenediacetic acid (C10H10O4), in the ground state have been calculated by using ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional theory (DFT/B3LYP) methods with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set for the first time. Comparison of the observed fundamental vibrational modes of 1,3-phenylenediacetic acid and calculated results by density functional B3LYP and Hartree-Fock methods indicate that B3LYP is superior to the scaled Hartree-Fock approach for quantum chemical studies. Geometric parameters (bond lengths and bond angles) and vibrational wavenumbers obtained by the HF and DFT/B3LYP methods are in good agreement with the experimental data. Furthermore, this is the first time the results of the calculated JCH and JCC coupling constants of the C10H10O4 molecule are presented in this study.  相似文献

Total energies of small molecules were calculated with a local density functional (LDF) approximation within the LCAO MO SCF scheme. The local spin density functional (LSD) of Gunnarsson and Lundqvist was used. The basis sets used are of contracted gaussian type which allow comparison of LSD with Hartree-Fock (HF) results. The program for calculation of the LSD term was incorporated into the standard ab initio package. The LSD binding energies were in better agreement with experiment than those from HF.  相似文献

The effects of the Fock exchange on the geometries and electronic structures of TiO2 have been investigated by introducing a portion of Hartree-Fock (HF) exchange into the traditional density functional. Our results indicate that the functional with 13% HF exchange can correctly predict the band gap and the electronic structures of rutile TiO2, and such an approach is also suitable to describe the structural and electronic properties of anatase and brookite phases. For the TiO2 (110) surfaces, although the surface relaxations are insensitive to the variation of HF exchange, there are larger effects on the positions of the occupied surface-induced states. When 13% HF exchange is employed, the predicted band gap of the perfect surface and position of defect state of the reduced surface are consistent with the experimental values. Moreover, the electronic structures of TiO2 (110) surface are carefully reexamined by using this hybrid density functional method.  相似文献

The vibrational frequencies and molecular geometry of (R)- and (rac)-4-phenly-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one (4-POO) in the ground state have been calculated using the Hartree-Fock and density functional method (B3LYP) with 6-31G(d) basis set. The optimized geometric bond lengths are described better by HF while bond angles are reproduced more accurately by DFT (B3LYP). Comparison of the observed fundamental vibrational frequencies of (R)-POO and (rac)-4-POO and calculated results by density functional B3LYP and Hartree-Fock methods indicate that B3LYP is superior to the scaled Hartree-Fock approach for molecular vibrational problems.  相似文献

This paper presents a revised and improved version of the Heyd-Scuseria-Ernzerhof screened Coulomb hybrid functional. The performance of this functional is assessed on a variety of molecules for the prediction of enthalpies of formation, geometries, and vibrational frequencies, yielding results as good as or better than the successful PBE0 hybrid functional. Results for ionization potentials and electron affinities are of slightly lower quality but are still acceptable. The comprehensive test results presented here validate our assumption that the screened, short-range Hartree-Fock (HF) exchange exhibits all physically relevant properties of the full HF exchange. Thus, hybrids can be constructed which neglect the computationally demanding long-range part of HF exchange while still retaining the superior accuracy of hybrid functionals, compared to pure density functionals.  相似文献

The question of how density functional theory (DFT) compares with Hartree-Fock (HF) for the computation of momentum-space properties is addressed in relation to systems for which (near) exact Kohn-Sham (KS) and HF one-electron matrices are known. This makes it possible to objectively compare HF and exact KS and hence to assess the potential of DFT for momentum-space studies. The systems considered are the Moshinsky [Am. J. Phys. 36, 52 (1968)] atom, Hooke's atom, and light two-electron ions, for which expressions for correlated density matrices or momentum densities have been derived in closed form. The results obtained show that it is necessary to make a distinction between true and approximate DFTs.  相似文献

The geometry of the nitrate radical, NO3*, for which unrestricted Hartree-Fock (HF) breaks spatial symmetry of the wave function, was optimized using hybrid density functionals that include varying fractions of Hartree-Fock exchange. Although symmetry breaking was not observed even when the functional with the highest HF exchange (BHandHLYP) was used, only B3LYP correctly describes the D(3h) symmetry of NO3* as ground-state structure with the lowest energy. Further, geometries and energies of the stationary points in the addition of NO3* to ethyne, propyne, and 2-butyne were calculated using ab initio and density functional methods. The reactions proceed through Z-configurated transition states leading to Z-configurated vinyl radicals with the activation barrier decreasing with increasing methyl substitution at the C[triple bond]C by ca. 11 kJ mol(-1) per methyl group. It was found that the results obtained at the BHandHLYP/cc-pVDZ level of theory are in good agreement with the data from single-point QCISD and CCSD(T) calculations.  相似文献

We present an analytical approach to treat higher order derivatives of Hartree-Fock (HF) and Kohn-Sham (KS) density functional theory energy in the Born-Oppenheimer approximation with respect to the nuclear charge distribution (so-called alchemical derivatives). Modified coupled perturbed self-consistent field theory is used to calculate molecular systems response to the applied perturbation. Working equations for the second and the third derivatives of HF/KS energy are derived. Similarly, analytical forms of the first and second derivatives of orbital energies are reported. The second derivative of Kohn-Sham energy and up to the third derivative of Hartree-Fock energy with respect to the nuclear charge distribution were calculated. Some issues of practical calculations, in particular the dependence of the basis set and Becke weighting functions on the perturbation, are considered. For selected series of isoelectronic molecules values of available alchemical derivatives were computed and Taylor series expansion was used to predict energies of the "surrounding" molecules. Predicted values of energies are in unexpectedly good agreement with the ones computed using HF/KS methods. Presented method allows one to predict orbital energies with the error less than 1% or even smaller for valence orbitals.  相似文献

Converged approximate density functional calculations usually do not bind anions due to large self-interaction error. But Hartree-Fock (HF) calculations have no such problem, producing negative HOMO energies. Thus, electron affinities can be calculated from density functional total energy differences using approximations such as PBE and B3LYP, evaluated on HF densities (for both anion and neutral). This recently proposed scheme is shown to work very well for molecules, better than the common practice of restricting the basis set except for cases such as CN, where the HF density is too inaccurate due to spin contamination.  相似文献

We have developed a new hybrid functional [Gaussian-Perdue-Burke-Ernzerhof (Gau-PBE)] that is suitable for the calculation of solid state bandgaps using a periodic boundary condition. The characteristic of this functional is the use of a Gaussian attenuation scheme (Gau) to include a short-range Hartree-Fock (HF) exchange. This new functional can perform barrier height calculations with an accuracy comparable to the middle-range hybrid functional and bandgap calculations with an accuracy comparable to the Heyd-Scuseria-Ernzerhof (HSE) functional. However, the point is that the performance can be achieved using a Gaussian HF exchange, while the HISS functional calculates twice HF-exchange integrations using an error function to obtain both performances. In addition, Gau-PBE functional can decrease the time cost of bandgap calculations by an average of 40% compared to the HSE functional.  相似文献

The molecular geometry and vibrational frequencies of N-phenyl-N'-(2-thienylmethylene)hydrazine (C11H10N2S) have been calculated using Hartree-Fock and density functional method (B3LYP) with 6-31G(d) basis set. The optimized geometric bond lengths and angles obtained using HF and DFT (B3LYP) are in agreement with the experimental data. B3LYP method seems to be appropriate than HF method for the calculation of vibrational frequencies and geometrical parameters of the (C11H10N2S) compound.  相似文献

The molecular structure, conformafional stability, and vibrational frequencies of ten-butyl N-(2- bromocyclohex-2-enyl)-N-(2-furylmethyl)carbamate (TBBFC) were investigated by utilizing the Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional theory (DFT) ab initio calculations with 6-31G ^* and 6-31G^* * basis sets. The optimized bond length and angle values obtained by HF method showed the best agreement with the experimental values. Comparison of the observed and calculated fundamental vibrational frequencies indicated that B3LYP was superior to the scaled HF approach for molecular problems. Optimal uniform scaling factors calculated for the title compound are 0.899/0.904, 0.958/0.961, and 0.988/0.989 for HF, B3LYP, and BLYP (6-31G ^*/6-31G ^* *), respectively.  相似文献
